Lol.
Go on the Internet and check for the pictures of Israelis held hostage and Palestinians in Israeli jail. You can as well post pictures of the two situation. Propaganda? It would have made so much noise if such exists in Israel. But these terrorists posted theirs to the world, just to give you a glimpse of what they had done to those guys behind closed doors |

Lukuluku69: These are the narratives people say to demean the Palestinians.
If they are Palestinians = Prisoners
If I*raelis = Hostages
When in fact they are all captives in a conflict that has spanned decades. Being a prisoner is more dignifying than being a hostage. What Palestine did to the Israeli guys shows they held them hostage- starving them and posting their pictures. No government will treat a prisoner that way. They were held by Palestinian terrorists. |

Dogalmighty17: This gas is what they flare for free. I wonder why it has to be this expensive. Yes I know machinery to capture, condense, store and distribute LNG costs quite a lot but most of these costs are one off. Gas should be a lot cheaper than what it currently sells for. The flared gas is raw and impurity-laden. The cost attachment stems from it's refining, transport and storage. Remember, they have to even add some chemical to give it a smell for safety reasons (in its pure form it is odourless). |

Crime › Re: Police Arrest Youths Who Flogged Officer For Drug Use In Rivers by ruffhandu: 11:32am On Aug 30, 2025 |
immortalcrown: The youths have been arrested. What has been done to the officer? You might condemn the youths' actions, saying it is a mark of disrespect to an officer of the law. But, is someone that takes illicit drugs really an office of the law?
If the police commission is sincere, it would have first of all investigated whether the officer actually took illicit drugs, instead of claiming that the youths flogged the officer because the president of the youths is interested in the officer's girlfriend. Even if the president of the youths is interested in the officer's girlfriend, didn't/doesn't the officer take drugs? Have there not been other cases where the same youths apprehended and punished consumers of illicit to drugs? What exactly does the police commission want to achieve by bringing up the allegation that the youths president is interested in the officer's girlfriend?
You might condemn the youth action, calling it jungle justice. But what had the government or the police done before the youths decided to protect themselves and their community? Again, flogging is not that severe. Flogging is nothing compared to what police officers do to people everyday at checkpoints.
This is like the case of IPOB and headsmen. Herdsmen have been killing and destroying. No herdsman has been brought to book. But the moment IPOB rose up in self defense, python dance and so many other things started coming from the federal government against IPOB. I don't think the youths have done anything wrong, unless if they flogged him while on duty. No man should be sacred. They treated all wrong-doers in the community, irrespective of their age and class and background, equally. Criminal police institution in Nigeria. |

OnionBandit: True to an extent. This only applies to those who have the interest of the masses at heart..
I was once very close to someone at the National Assembly, working closely with them. Without exaggerating, they received over 200 calls daily, with about 190 of them being financial requests from constituents. The remaining 10 were about political matters. Interestingly, I noticed that fulfilling these financial requests was more likely to secure a second, third, fourth, or fifth term than undertaking projects that would benefit the entire constituency.
End Even ordinary banker who ears 500k receives many calls bro. Those calls for charity have nothing to do with his job function. Most call him because they feel he is a thief like all others. His job is to make laws, you want to say with regards to the job he does, his salary i pitiable? Make una dey get small fear of the creator, especially at least if you believe he exists. |

grandstar: Sexual harassment is bad, especially where proof of groping can be confiemed.
I think the issue here was that the judge too was a young man once and probably made mistakes as well. In the UK, getting drunk every weekend is considered a rite of passage, for both young males and females. Aside drinking, you know what youths are bound to do.
I sense it was with that empathy he looked at the young lad.
In addition, the care system is broken in most countries. If he was in the care system, he was placed in a place for kids without parents. In such facilites, many face abuse, both emotional and sexual. Many sent to foster homes face emotional, physical and sexual abuse if the foster parents are the cruel sort, who just see the kids as a meal ticket as the government pays them money to look after them. Your assertion is apt. i can't agree more. |

Even housemaids earn up to 40k and more. 15k is a meal in some restaurants, while that cannot get you a buffet in most outlets in Nigeria.
The government should criminalize non-payment of salary. Bankruptcy is when an entity is unable to fulfill its obligations, which includes salary |

Sometimes Nigerians are victims of racism, I am not saying the man is innocent, For the judge to hand down this sentence, they all knew the girl added some lie there. Although woman abroad are sometimes so safe that a man trying as much as stopping them to talk to them, especially if they are not attracted to you, becomes a crime and they start shouting.
In One European country, after the girl took the young man home and they had what they had, and she did not enjoy it, she called the police the next day after the boy had gone home jejely, to say she had the sex against her will. The boy was sent to prison. |

That's why when you read some updates written by a Nigerian journalist, you'll just shake your head cos they'll end up saying nothing. You may think it is just that, but it is more of laziness. They want to do little work and earn a lot. An American journalist blasted them few days ago, I was ashamed for them. Maliq said he never expected betrayal from someone he fed and housed during tough times. Three years later, he’s still processing the silence.
https://x.com/MasterMaliq/status/1951754152532468046?t=hWo9loDCp0Mt6AqRjcPC2A&s=19[/quote]I had somewhat similar experience, but not exactly. I had just gotten a nice paying job, but no salary yet. Then this my tight pal called that his visa was out (I knew about the process all along) he needed some money for flight and all that. I knew it would look odd giving him any excuse at that time, we had come a long way, plus he knew I just started working (it was a time I was supposed to have received at least my first salary, but there were some challenges in my documentation by HR so the salary would come in areas. So I had to borrow 40k in from my woman, when dolar was less than N100. My guy travelled eventually. Once once we were in touch, I was a big boy and needed nothing from him. In fact, at the time, his salary was not more than mine down home, his was in pounds but mine was in Ngn. First red shot. " years later my man sent some stuff (honestly till date I don't know the full content, but he had mentioned a footwear or so). He sent it to his sister, who contacted me and told me she had some stuff from her brother for me. We were living in the same town where she lived with her husband/boyfriend. I was excited. We agreed she would come by my office (which was by the road and she passes through every now and then according to her). But suddenly, the next day, she called and told me she won't be able to come (even though i told her to take her time, that whenever she is coming that direction, I wasn't in a hurry). but when she called, she insisted I must come to her house. Me, i just laughed within me. I never went. Second shot. Some 6 years or so later. My guy arrived Nigeria. Some weeks later someone called me to tell me. I was so disappointed. He has made efforts later to salvage the relationship but I just felt it was not worth it. There is an expiry to some relationships, and when the time comes, don't bat an eyelid, just let it go. |

SmartPolician: The worst thing that would happen to any country is to have people who have zero knowledge of how to run a successful business heading sensitive agencies that regulate a critical industry.
If the Enugu regulator thinks that the Discos are overbilling the consumers, why not launch your own company and start giving it for free? After all, there was a time in this country when the government had MTel and we knew what later happened to the state-run telco. You have a very valid point. I always say it, government has only little to do in terms of dictating price to private businessmen. I always say if they want to help the masses, they should float their own business and compete fiercely. But like someone replied you, they will be run aground if they do that. But the reason for being run aground is corruption. A sensible government can fund a company up to 80-100%, then tell them what to charge. That private company will do everything to stay profitable, and yet maintain government policy, so long as the price is fair. The problem your country has is that the politicians, who happen to be the leaders, are wicked, demonic, corrupt, greedy, oppressive, evil,... you name it. out of 10000 of them, only about 0.2 persons may genuinely have the interest of the people at heart. |

adedayourt: Fews weeks ago, I engaged a Marina bank staff about their car loan facility and here is the highlight of the terms
1. Interest rate is 41% p.a 2. Duration of 48months ie 4yrs 3. Additional 2% management fee etc 4. Loan amount is N15million 5. They would provide the dealer I must buy from
By implication, at the end of 4yrs, borrower would have paid 164% in interest aside other charges equivalent to N39.6million principal & interest
It becomes very disheartening when we compare with other clime where one could get 13% interest rate while income could afford comfortable repayment plan.
At this rate, a N500k monthly earner cannot afford a car. Now imagine entrepreneur who genuinely require capital to fund a viable business plan
I am of the opinion that is beyond just the banking system but a widespread failure in the Nigeria system as a whole.
(Images from X user) Hej, just a minor correction to your analysis. The obligor will not actually pay N39.6million at the end of the day, but N27.6 million. |
