NafeesaAA: When you have an ethnic group at war with Igbos, Yoruba, Hausa, Berom, Bachama, Tarok, Tiv, Jukuns, Edo, Nupe, Ebira, Ghanaians, Mali, CAR etc then definitely something is wrong with that ethnic group.
Am Hausa, but I will not let emotions control my feelings. Two years back I can confidently travel from Kano city to Gaya town 2am in the night. But today, travelling between Wudil in Kano to Gaya anything after 7pm is dangerous. No thanks to these Herdsmen.
What is happening in the South-West & South East is inhumane and cruelty to animals but can you blame them? I bet you, in the next few years similar mob actions against these herdsmen will start taking place in the North. We have seen flashes of them in Zamfara and Kastina.
There's is a vacuum ... irresponsibly created by the apparent reluctance of the past & current FG to curtail the growing security threat posed by herdsmen to lives and property in many parts of the country.
People, who are reckoning that without the reassuring protection of the state, their survival depends on defending themselves by any means necessary.
So instead of reacting to a symptom ... the government should tackle the threat, so that besieged citizens and innocent herdsmen alike are not unfortunately consumed in this inferno. MC Alhaji Gaya!? Oh my Gaya! I served in Gaya! Beutiful people! How is Gaya!? Wanted to visit to see the teachers I worked with many years ago but fear no gree me.. Wudil orientation camp then.. Sweet memories.. |

Ibrahimmrfish: You do realize that most countries in the west will stop using petrol by 2050,the only option left is gas export and to transport gas by ships is expensive.Pipeline is the most cost effective way to move a huge quantity of gas.India is our major petroleum market and they are aggressively searching for petrol, this pipeline is a lifeline to the economic survival of Nigeria. Tell me more kontriman, I am from Imo state! How does Nigerias survival benefit me under a Buhari who has categorised me as an irrelevant 5% and has gone along for 5 years to treat me so..? How can he be milking the resources of the 5% people while treating them with so much disgust and disdain and you all kept quiet in this very frightening country!? |

FirstbornWds: Your take, your business.
Let the government do their part, the ordinary citizen would as well do his part.
Even your example of Johannesburg has got some parts ravaged with poverty that below class citizens developed without government help. This I know of personally. I'm not saying tht governments should build everything, what I'm saying is that governments should set up active and roburst structures to do these things. In my village, we contributed and donated to have NEPA lines connected to my town those years.. But inspite of that citizens ability to come together and do such, which is common in Nigeria, countries like China, Ghana, Qatar, Egypt without such base approach to service delivery have more power generation and distribution abilities than Nigeria! What does that tell you? That doing it this way might "help" few villagers but it's not sustainable and can't be applied nationwide to solve a national problem... We have to think big to solve big problems... |
Politics › Re: Regional Autonomy.: How Prepared Is Nigeria? by Rugaria: 11:35am On Feb 02, 2021 |
States are not functioning well in Nigeria. 90% of the states survive solely on Biafras oil as they gasp for air and can't go on without oil handouts..... What to do?
Collapse the states into 12 regions or thereabout with about 6 additional special administrative centers like Lagos, Abuja, Portharcout/Calabar/Uyo, lokoja, Onitsha, Aba, Kaduna or Kano.. Allow the provinces to rapidly function on their own. One province in China is bigger than almost half of Nigeria..Let the provinces be a mix of groups with common interests and let them be constitutionaly empowered to create local administrative units like counties or local governments but they will carter for that. Modalities for such creations must be set up by the federal government and monitored effectively to avoid folks messing up the system as we have now...
Then, Have a 5 to 10 year national plan on industrial and infastructural development,... Then get professionals to monitor and manage that plan based on objectives set to particular timetable.. |

FirstbornWds: You've succeeded in saying nothing relevant.
Probably you've not read through to know how Dubai attained so much civilization. It wasn't just the government, mere civilians really contributed. This young man earns a mean sum of 33k monthly but decided to to be useful to his host community but here you are condeming his gesture all in the make of raising the bar to each the heights.
Do you know how long those villagers have suffered going up and down a risky slope? Do you think the L.g there isn't aware of all of these? But what have they done to rectify it? Nothing.
This young man donated his widow's mite to a community that isn't even his to begin with. But you won't know this because you don't care. You are unsalvageable.. We are at different ends on this topic and right now I don't have the time to babysit you on this one... I have to remind you of this though; No modernised country got there with ordinary citizens building emergency amenities all over the place.. Rant and rave about how the villagers need that, it doesn't take away the point that we need to be more organized in terms of how we use administration to carter for citizens needs in this country.. |

Calling the young man's project mediocre is our of place cos the villagers benefiting from this know how much importance it is to them. Mr Man, Raise the bar and reach the heights.... No country attained greatness with this sort of patented pettiness.. This country can function better with better organization and better projects.. All these half measures and individuals taking the role of government is just counter productive. We should stop this habit of passing the responsibility to the unfortunate citizens because government has failed! Why should we allow the government to fail? Was Dubai built like this? Shanghai, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, even johannesburg.., where they built like this? Like some village sculpture works? All these mundane habits in this country irritates... We have local governments, right? What are they doing. |

The main problem with Nigeria is not the absence of good laws.. it is the unwillingness of the government and her institutions to vigorously enforce her laws. . What you noticed can only happen in Nigeria. It's in Nigeria that a man might commit murder, get arrested by the police, but still manage to get "bail" and subsequently evade justice! Many violent criminals get arrested and released at will in this country, so much so they become career criminals, aware that irrespective of their heineous crimes, they will still find a way to manipulate a broken system to wriggle out of jail if nabbed! And that's why crimes are high! The realisation that purnishment will NEVER be severe will always embolden vicious characters willing to take to crime.. |

This Nigeria no balance at all That thing is an eyesore. This is where Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom states are always miles ahead.. Erecting bill boards in a very irritating and haphazard way is so common in Nigeria. It's ugly and seriously defaces the environment.. I also think that where they are allowed, regulations should be stiff on standards. We need to start seeing beutiful billboards.. Not all these metallic objects everywhere.. |
