I do not intend to bore you with long epistle. So, this is gonna be concise and straight to the point.

On February 24th, 2022, Russia made good her threat and invaded sovereign Ukraine and has continued to bombard the lowly country since then.

From the build up of the crisis till now that the crisis has started, Russia has clearly been the aggressor with Ukraine’s only crime being her intention to join bodies and allies that can ensure her security and self preservation.

But I’m appalled that some people on Nairaland are standing with Russia.

They conjure all sorts of conjectures to justify their wicked, irrational, narcissistic and sadistic stance.

First, they say US and her Western allies have been invading other countries with no one forming a global police on them; therefore, US and the west have no justification in trying to stop Russia from razing Ukraine to the ground.

They argue how Western media has skewed reportage, over the years, to present Russia in bad light unrepresentative of the true reality of things.

But do these things justify Russia’s attitude?

Why do people choose to side with evil? Or are they by implication telling us they are evil and would behave like Putin if they were in his position?

If anything, let us consider the facts of the cases of US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and even Libya.

Osama Bin Laden hijacked a US bound commercial airplane and crashed it at the New York Twin Towers which led to a lot human and material damage. When he was done, he fled to Afghanistan and was receiving shield from the govt of the day. What did you expect US to do? Fold her arms and watch Afghanistan become terrorist haven where insurgents will call home? If US had left Afghanistan without consequences, other fundamentalist Arab countries would toed same path and start allowing their territories to serve as breeding ground for Islamic Fundamentalists and terrorists.

Same with Iraq and Libya. Saddam Hussein and Mummar Gadaffi were two known Islamic fundamentalists. Sponsoring Islamic insurgents and allowing their territories to be used as training field for these terrorists.

Now, how do these things compare to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine?

Is Ukraine harbouring any individual that committed a crime against either the govt of Russia or the Russian people?

What Putin is doing is bullying, it’s wrong, unprovoked and unjustified. Therefore anybody supporting Putin’s actions is evil and should be segregated from people and a psychological check run on such person to determine the level of mental damage.

Foreign policy is not a place to sprout all sorts of emotional vituperations. It's based on interests. When your interests are being undermined, you need to act. Russia is undermining Americas interest by questioning the relevance of the dollar and America is undermining Russia by using Ukraine.

Putin knows and is taking actions to squash this. If he listens to you, Russia will be as useless and irrelevant in world affairs like your Nigeria in ten years time. The West knows what they are doing. Russia knows what she's doing. You're the one alligning to some quarters based on emotions and not based on interests. Always follow your interests on foreign policies and international relations. You think the Americans and the West were not aware of the Biafran genocide? Yet they supported the Nigerians! Why? I detest it when people refuse to give the accurate picture of things just to massage the area of public opinion they are trying to dish out.

In Iraq, the reason that happened was because of the American soldiers been killed from suicide bombs implanted in civilian vehicles from left right and centre. Women and teen suicide bombers were not left out of the menace , so the best bet was to take proactive afforta to protect the military.
Even at that the Americans were still worked under the rules of engagement.

In the case of Ukraine, there is no threat emanating from civiliana who blocked the road, no suicide bombs strapped on the chest of demonstrators. If there was those tanks will crush them.

If it was the Iraqis that were standing in front of a column of NATO tanks, stopping it from achieving it's aim, the NATO column would have driven pass them, killing as many as possible instantly. Google the thousands of videos that shows American and NATO soldiers shooting at cars in the streets of Baghdad, simply because they drove too close for comfort. That the Russians refused to do so here, shows that they are simply trying to achieve their military objectives and not to dehumanize the people of Ukraine. That folks reading this here, choose to praise the vulnerable civilians spared by the Russian tanks instead of praising the gallant Russian military men that have exercised a great sense of restraint and decorum, shows how we all can see the same thing but read different meanings to them, because of the level of propaganda we have been subjected to..

I have read comments from some pro-Russian m.orons here trying to compare what Putin and Russia are doing in Ukraine with what the USA and West Europe did in Iraq or Afganistan. There is absolutely no basis for comparism. Putin launched a totally unprovoked attack on Ukraine.
