User00711: I’m not sure if there’s a timeframe, I know after a refusal people send mail and webform trying to address the VOs concerns, back it up with evidence if they can and then they’ll either approve or reject it again. Ok, thanks. |

bullstriker: Has the 8m been liquified, or is it still in a fixed deposit? If it is the latter, then the available funds are insufficient. Unlike permanent resident applications, most VOs do not consider fixed deposits when assessing available funds.
You can use either or both of them as sponsors. I don’t believe you will have issues regarding home ties if you use your brother, provided you prepare your application well. Based on the information you provided, your ties seem stronger in Nigeria.
Do you bear the same last name as your mum? Did you submit your birth certificate? This time includes additional proof of relationships like photos, copies of her info in any applications/documents and vice versa, and evidence of previous support received from her. In addition, as suggested by the gurus, pay at least one-semester tuition fee from mum’s account if you will be using her as a sponsor. Finally, the importance of a well-written SoP cannot be overemphasized; I feel like your application was poorly submitted. Thank you very much! - We bear same surname. Her name appears on my birth certificate as my mother. I submitted pictures of us, covid cards, birth certificate. - Previous support; she has been my mother since child birth and has supported my education from small. - I think I’ll use my brother and her. Thanks for sharing. |

User00711: Or you could just apply for a reconsideration with this new info instead of starting the application all over again How do I go about it. Is there a time frame to apply for reconsideration. |

johnstan: Ok great. *For your next application try not to use a fixed deposit account. Some people have used it successfully and some haven't so to be on the safer side liquidate the funds before you reapply. *Using your mum as a sponsor and saying her funds sent to you is a one off is contradictory. If she's going to be your sponsor then she will have to support you till the end of your program. If she's only making a one off payment (which would reflect as a lump sum in your account) then get a gift deed to back it up and leave her out as a sponsor. If you still intend to use her as a sponsor then ensure you explain how she will handle the role till you're done with your program cos the VO will check to confirm she can really support you till the end. This is great! I think the gift deed is the best because she’s giving the money as her contribution for my studies. |

mrprolifik: The reason why I gave you that advice is because , your case seems to be similar to that of my cousin. He is self sponsored . Below is how his story went. First application: I. Submitted study permit application by paying the minimum tuition deposit. II. Showed the rest of the tuition + money for upkeep for a year in his bank account. It's a 1 year program. III. Added copies of his tax records and salary earned for the pass 3years till the last month prior to his application submission. IV. Added documents showing ownership of car, and also employment letter. After 4 months of waiting , his study permit application was refused . Mainly because he couldn't explain properly to convince the visa officer how the program he intended to study related with his job and the visa officer wasn't conviced of his home ties.
After the rejection letter he submitted another application within a week of the refusal with all the same documents as before and also included a well written 4 page letter of explanation . His home ties were his sibling , parents and his job. After 3 months he got a message from IRCC to submit a proof of payment of 1year complete tuition within a month of getting that mail. He did and after 2weeks he got his PPR. Wow! Thanks for this. |

Goldentony2nice: To add to what @Johnstan has explained, if I were the VO, I would think; if you have good business/contract with multinational telco running into millions, why not wait for it to materialize and gather your own funds to sponsor yourself? Why hurry to use other sponsors now? Noted. Thanks. |

johnstan: From my point of view: Your application looks ok but not so good if these were the only documents you submitted, however, judging from the VO's reasons, *Was your funds still fixed with no near liquidation timeframe in sight? *Was your mum's fund and yours part of the money you fixed?
*Did you submit evidence of your work like your employment letter, letter of introduction, payslips, leave letter etc Or you did for just your mum? *Did you proof your relationship with your mum with her Nigerian valid ID, pictures taken together etc? Saying she's your mum is not enough. *Did you prove hometies, stuff that should bring you back? - family, work, better job offer, properties etc. *Did you show that she's financially able to sustain you with her current income or did you just state that she works along with her work documents. By this I mean, did you state what her annual income is like, how much she's setting aside for you or the expenses she's willing to cover? *Are your siblings still depending on her for financial support? Adding yours to her financial commitments without being able to proof she's capable of sustaining you all won't fly. *Lastly be sure to extensively explain how you will sustain your self through out the duration of your program. You necessarily don't need to show POF for your total duration.
Money yet to come may not suffice as POF, I'm not sure whose pension statement you provide but it can only serve as hometies if it's yours and not POF cos you can't readily access your pension funds if need arises. - The money was fixed for 90days putting in consideration the 12weeks processing time. - The funds was solely mine. - I submitted my employment letter, promotion letters and letter of introduction. - I submitted our Int’l passports, my birth certificate which her name is also inside the certificate, our fully vaccinated covid card, pictures when we went for biometrics. - I stated my job, my running contract with MTN nigeria, my properties (land and house inherited all in my name) power of attorney letter for my moms land and ongoing building project which I’m also contributing to build. I also showed by stating in my SOP that I’m the head of the family since my dad is late. I also stated that the program will make me enter senior managerial levels since I am currently a manager in acting capacity. - I only stated that she’s supporting with N5m which is a one off payment having transferred the sum into my account. I showed her payslips and employment letter. - all my siblings are not dependent on her. |

mrprolifik: I will advice you to reapply and this time try paying the one year tuition fee complete and have the money for your upkeep in your account. Also try adding your tax records , income and also any property in your name like Car(s), house, business and land to show strong home ties. With all this you are good to go. Thank you for your response. Honestly, I don’t like keeping huge liquid funds in my account when there is no interest earned. I like putting money here and there to add more… I hope you understand. How about paying my first semester tuition which is 9kCAD. I submitted properties (land and house) in my name. I also did power of attorney for my mom’s property and building project too. There are outflows from my bank statement showing I’m supporting the building project too. |

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Compliments of the season!!!!!
I need your inputs please!!!
My SP was refused based on financial asset. I requested for CBSA and the report came in.
I’ll start by saying I don’t know how VO’s sometimes reasons when it comes to applications from young Nigerians (I know being a Nigerian has happened to me)
My Brief background: - Single applicant - Working - tuition fee - approximately 18kCAD - One year program. - Paid tuition deposit (2,650CAD) - I had fixed deposit (All letters were submitted including rollover and liquidation) - N8m - my bank statement- N6.2m (sponsors N5m + my 1.2m) - Pension statement - N4m plus - Coming inflow from my running business contract from one of the biggest Telcom company which will be due first quarter of 2023 (letters attached) - N10m plus - Sponsor - my mom (transferred N5m to my account with letter of support and affidavit). - Sponsors occupation- Government sector (Chief Environmental Officer) - Documentation for Sponsor - employment letter, paystubs, ID, promotion letter, stamped Canada visa (I didn’t submit her bank statement). Sponsor was even in Canada when I applied.
NB: My sibling is a Canadian citizen, I didn’t mention him because: - I didn’t want the VO to think I can’t sponsor myself, my mom was the best choice. - To avoid stronger ties in Canada. - and the school isn’t in same province where he live.
Omo! I go sue this guys with immigration lawyers o! (Na joke I Dey joke lol).
So guys, what do you think I should do differently. Do you think I should use my sibling as sponsor now. I have deferred my admission to May 2023.
Thank you

So I got this information below sent to me by one of the schools I applied for admission in BC. You may want to start gathering documents for your study permit application. We do not provide immigration document supports for new students, but I know Nigeria has a fast track study permit application process that’s not listed on the government website. It’s called NSE (Nigerian Student Express) and you may want to reach out to High Commission of Canada to Nigeria if you would like further information about the requirements. https://www.cicnews.com/2020/03/canada-introduces-program-to-fast-track-study-permit-processing-from-nigeria-0313846.html#gs.v0ty5- Who have more information about this. - It takes 20 calendar days to get approval for study permit if you meet all the requirements. - There is a stream like this for some selected countries too for study permit |

Lekiboboe: In my own opinion , yes, as far as the PG program is related to your work experience.
I only know of a Bachelor's degree holder going for a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma, but I don't know if a Master's degree holder can go for it.
Await inputs from the house on that The applicant has a bachelors & masters degree in engineering. Working experience is finance but the course he’s looking at and the school is offering as post-baccalaureate Business Analytics. |

Lekiboboe: Post baccalaureate dipoma is an Academic Progression for a Bachelor's degree holder
You can Google the word Post Baccalaureate for more information So it’s either PGDip or PGCert to avoid the red flag from VO |

Sure, you can study in any Canadian province of your choice, as far as the school in that province is a DLI - Designated Learning Institute, offers PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit), and the Business Analytics program is a Post Graduate Certificate or Post Degree or Post Diploma program Hello Lekiboboe, What about post baccalaureate diploma programs (2years). |

Lekiboboe: A Diploma is lower to your already acquired Academic qualifications (BTECH and MTECH). a Visa Officer will see a Diploma program as a red flag on your Study Visa Application, which will amount to WRONG PURPOSE OF VISIT to CANADA. In a nutshell, it is not advisable.
Since you are pursing career progression, a 2-YEARS POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OR POST DEGREE DIPLOMA in Business Management, Business Administration prog8 will be the best move for you
See the link below for the programs

What if for some obvious reasons the applicant is considering a particular province - Alberta. The applicant is also looking at Data Analytics, Business Analytics (2years program) |

looking for a program and school that fits your needs is not really an easy task; who else experienced this?
So for someone that has B.Tech & M.Tech in an engineering course but have been working in the finance sector for over 8years now but wants to do a 2years diploma program (Business Administration) for career progression. What would the visa officer be thinking? is it advisable for the applicant to go for the program? |

ShowYoung: I think the course is too expensive if it's just a certificate and not a PGC. You can find PGD/PGC/PostBaccDip that are also good for applicants wishing to immigrate at cheaper price. I agree with you but then again, UC is a top university, so the high tuition is expected. Thanks. |

Osemigho: BI/BA is a lucrative field but make sure you confirm the program qualified for PGWP. UofC continuing education mainly focus on part-time programs for professionals. You may also want to check 18 months PGD in colleges, mostly in Ontario. You may get it for that 22k. All the best. Yeah, the program is qualified for one year PGWP and you can do it as a full-time program. Thanks. |

Hi there,
I need help!
I need honest review on this course - Certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics, University of Calgary Continuing Education. I really cannot tell if it is a PGCERT program but it is more of a professional program recommended for international students who wants to live and work in Canada according to the information on the school website.
The program is 12months with one year PGWP and tuition fee of CAD22,050.00. The core courses align with what the applicant is looking for and it is business related reason considering the program.
The background of the applicant: - Computer/Electrical Engineering - Currently working in the finance sector as Credit Risk Officer
What advise do you have for the applicant
Thanks. |

Having siblings in Canada is a drawback, but I have had clients who have family members and yet got their study permits. Let her focus on writing a convincing SOP outlining her ties in Nigeria. In addition to her family, she can add assets and letters from her employer stating she is going on study leave and any association she belongs to. Hi Bullstriker, How can I contact you? Hi @Frankrobbn1 @Toceen and any kind person, I need your candid inputs; Background (Education) - - B.Tech, Computer Engineering (2:1), 2012 - M.Tech, Electrical Engineering, 2019 Working experience - - NYSC - worked as IT Team Lead, 2013 - 2014 - Senior Credit Officer with a finance firm (2014 - till date) - core job roles - Granting credit facilities (loans/leases) I am shifting my career towards - Financial Engineering/ Data Analytics. A bit worried because I am yet to see schools offering financial engineering in CA yet but, I have seen Data Analytics. Considering that I have not really used my both degrees on my current job (I still cover up as the branch IT officer but not my core job role) what do you suggest since the VO would want to tie my visa study permit when looking at my files with current job role regarding visa approvals as against what I would be studying. NB- looking for a minimum of 12 - 18 months program. I do not have strength for PhD funding: - I'll do 70%, my bro will do 30% Home ties: - I have a job - landed properties - Pension account - running business with MTN Nig Ltd ( I have their facility installed in my property for a long time lease agreement) visa refusal: - Visiting Visa (Dec, 2021). denied because no travel history, no bank statement & home ties. I was suppose to take my mom visiting for the holiday to see my bro in CA. Mom's VV was approved. - responded to them on the issues raised, submitted my bank statements covering all my expenses plus all the homes ties documents stated above plus letter from my employer, yet it returned denied because 'no home ties''. I am waiting for the GCMS note to know the VO's real reason, maybe because I am single but I no kill person Awaiting your response(s) Regards |
