Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state and former Bayelsa state governor, Timipre Sylva, have been accused of being among the sponsors of defunct militant group, Movement For the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, rampaging new militant group. This allegation was made by the Niger Delta Avengers while reacting to the statement credited to MEND spokesman, Jomo Gbomo, who accused Niger Delta elites and leaders of “ungodly conspiracy of silence” on the atrocious activities of the Niger Delta Avengers. MEND had said in the statement; “What is more worrisome to us is the ungodly conspiracy of silence of the region’s elite and their tacit support of the NDA’s conduct under the pretext of a so-called “Niger Delta struggle” which went to sleep in luxury hotel suites in Abuja and around the world for the entire duration of the 6 years of Mr. Jonathan’s binge and unmitigated disaster as President”. But responding to MEND statement, the Avengers lampooned Oshiomhole in what appears as reprisal attacks on the latter’s hardliner position and consistent condemnation of the group since it launched its operations targeted at crippling the Nigeria oil economy. In a statement on Tuesday signed by its spokesman, ‘Brig-Gen’ Mudoch Aginibo, NDA, while urging members of the public to disregard statements made by MEND concerning its activities, told MEND that its days of criminality in the Niger Delta region were over. Advertisement The statement read; “We appeal to the general public and all sane minds on the activities of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to disregards all purported statements and misplaced threat emanating from disbanded criminal elements like the so-called MEND (Movement For the Emancipation of The Niger Delta) that are political sidekicks and desperations from Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Mr. Timipre Silva and their political paymasters to hold their political party to the jugular of the affairs of the Niger Delta Region. “That our struggle is focused on the liberation of the People of Niger Delta from decades of divisive rule and exclusion. We are watching keenly their regretful efforts at rebranding and regrouping of criminal elements in the region for their short political gains and territories. “The NDA is unperturbed. We have mandate that is clearly a departure of those old tactics of the defunct so-called MEND that was indulged in kidnapping, hostage taking, Sea piracy, illegal oil bunkering, bank robberies and social crimes of which the likes of Boyloafs, Ateke Toms, were associated to in their days in the name of the struggle. “The wind of change in the Niger Delta struggle has come, we are are young, smart, and focused Niger deltans. Our mandate is to liberate the Niger Delta people; we don’t run after pipeline contracts,” NDA reiterated. https://www.today.ng/news/national/134445/niger-delta-avengers-accuse-oshiomhole-sylva-sponsoring-mend

For the pass four months i have been goin through hell in my skin due to itching and rashes all over my body. I surfed through the internet to check for possible cause and hiv keeps popping up and i started having this thought that i am hiv positive. I ws sacred to visit any hospital for chck up cause i know they will definitely run hiv test, nd if it turns out am positive dnt knw hw i will react. I travelled bck to my campus at ghana....few days in ghana the rash and itchng increases, so i summoned the courage to treat this epidermic once nd also go for the alm*ghty test. I visited a public hospital nd dey did hiv, hepatitis and syphilis test on me, dey all came out negative. The dermatologist at the hospital diagnosed me of scabies nd i ws infected in my compound. I discovered two other guys nd a girl are also hvng similar itchng/rash. Right now m done with my treatmnt, no more itch or rash, my neighbours re stil on treatmnt nd dey re responding well. So many of us are goin thru similar experience nd we are scared of visiting any health care cos of the fear of hiv test. Your sickness might not be as a result of hiv. You might be suffering from something smaller whch cn be cured only when you visit a doctor. Also self medication is risky. |

Lekan Shonde, the man who allegedly killed his wife in the Egbeda, Lagos area has explained that his wife, Ronke provoked him by describing vividly how her lover slept with her in a hotel in Abuja. Lekan, a depot worker in the Apapa area of Lagos State, said his wife of eight years changed after she allegedly started dating the general manager of a publishing company. Speaking from hiding in a chat with Punch, the Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, said he regretted marrying Ronke, explaining that his late mother had warned him against the union, but he never listened. Lekan and his wife, Ronke, lived on Tiemo Close, Off Awori Street, in the Egbeda-Idimu area. The marriage, which was blessed with two children, aged six and four, was said to have been marred with domestic violence. The crisis culminated in the death of Ronke on Thursday, after which her husband fled the house and locked up the children with their dead mother. He said the last time he beat his wife was three years ago after a disagreement, saying he had never touched her afterwards. He said: “Since I married my wife eight years ago, she has never bought anything into the house. I gave her N5,000 on Saturdays and N3,000 on Tuesdays for soup. I also gave her money to make her hair. “She was working with GTB as a marketer, but she got sacked three years ago. For that period, I was the one feeding her and taking responsibility for everything in the family. I would wash her pants, bathe the children and buy foodstuffs in the house. She later got a job with a publishing company owned by her uncle. “But my wife changed sometime in March, when she started dating the general manger of a publishing company. My wife was going to the office from Monday to Sunday and she wasn’t going to church again, all because of this man. She called him ‘Eyitemi’ (My own). “Last week Friday, she went to Abuja and came back on Monday. She never told me that the lover was there with her. I learnt later that the lover was there and they slept together in the same room for four days. “When she came back, she didn’t know I was inside the house. She started talking with the man on the phone that she really had fun with him and I didn’t know how to make love. She again said her private parts were paining her.” He said he confronted his late wife and she confirmed that she was dating the other man, adding that she asked him to concentrate on a relationship. Lekan said his wife refused to leave the house despite his insistence on her leaving. Recounting the incident of that night which led to her death, he said they had had an argument over money. He said: “It was around 9pm on Thursday. We had paid our nanny N20,000. Then we needed to pay our children’s teachers N30,000. I discovered she had taken N20,000 and when I asked her to return my money, she said she had spent it. “I was angry because for the past three months, she didn’t allow me to have sex with her. I pushed her hand away from me on the staircase and I left her. She never tumbled or fell. In fact that night, I bought the food that we both ate because she said she didn’t want to cook. “I didn’t know anything had happened to her until Friday when I saw her on the staircase. I thought she was still pretending. I just left her and walked away.” Asked why he shut the gate against his children, he said he never did, adding that it was his son that closed that gate. Lekan also denied taking the victim’s phone away, saying he left it on the bed. He said he had no reason to kill his wife, adding that he bought her two cars and always provided for her needs. He said: “Jide, her family’s second child lived with me for three to four years. Their eldest daughter, Bolatito, has lived with me too. “Although I am not a saint, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke. I am a responsible man. The problem with my wife was that she was temperamental. She shouted at me whenever she talked. “I am a Lagos boy and I can be in this Lagos for the next 30 years and nobody would see me.” Meanwhile, Ronke’s sibling, Bolatito, said their mother had just arrived in Lagos from Ilorin, Kwara State, adding that the family would not want to talk about the incident yet. Punch's correspondent gathered that Ronke’s brother and the second born of the family, died in a ghastly motor accident in Abuja. Bolatito, who is the first born, is the surviving child of three children. She said: “My mother just arrived from Ilorin and the family wants to devote time to attend to her; we don’t want to talk about the incident. I am not in the right frame of mind to talk. “But all I want to say is that her husband is somewhere out there and has been calling. The police should reach out to the telecommunications company to know where he is. He called me and he said he wanted to see me. “He also said he wanted to see his children and I should tell him where they are because we might never see him again.” The aunt of the victim, Bunmi, explained that the suspect had been threatening suicide, saying their mother had forgiven him. She said: “Mummy is very sad with this, but she has forgiven him and does not want him to commit suicide.” A family source told PUNCH Metro that the domestic violence had been on for some time, saying at a point, the matter was reported at a police station. He said the suspect always accused his wife of extra-marital affair. He said: “He always beat her because of his belief that she was into an extra-marital affair. The beating reduced a bit when the wife of her late brother who was one month pregnant before his death, moved into the house with them. She stayed for about eight months. She was like her saviour.” The Convener of the Women Arise for Change Initiative, Mrs. Joe Odumakin, while condoling with the family, said the group would pursue the case till the end. She said: “I am shattered and heart-broken. Their mother had been a widow since they were all little and she has lost two of three children in less than one year. And it is hard to believe that the killer husband has been chatting with people, asking to see his children and blatantly lying that he only slapped her. “Neighbours must learn to intervene when they hear unusual noise. And women, who are in abusive relationships, must speak out before it is too late. Lekan should come out and submit himself so he could be tried in a court, where he will have the chance to prove his innocence.” NB: Lekan spoke with PUNCH Metro on the telephone line provided by his in-law, Bolatito, which was also confirmed by the police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos

Came across this information and found it worthy to be shared. Good morning everyone. Many people have been wondering what could be the cause of the incessant tyre burst accidents on Nigerian roads. The major cause is that we put to much pressure in our tyres. How did I know? I was preparing for a journey, I changed some of my tyres and I asked the vulcanizer that ' what is the recommended tyre pressure? ' He said 50. I said alright, he should inflate it to 50 all round. When I got to where I was going, I was discussing with some ppl on the issue of the minister that died on the road due to a burst tyre and wonder what could have happened because nobody could imagine a minister would be travelling with expired tyres as many would think is the major cause of tyre burst. A man ( lived in US for many years ) said that the major cause of tyre burst in Nigeria is that we put to much pressure in our tyres and that each car has recommended tyre size and pressure clearly written on it by the manufacturer. I was surprised and begged him to come and show me where it's written on my car. To my greatest surprise, it's by the drivers door which I enter everyday without noticing it. By the time we checked, the recommended pressure for my tyres is 32! and I just traveled with tyres on a pressure of 50! He took me round his compound and showed me that of the cars (which includes a jeep and a sienna) there, the highest was 32. some were even 29! He further explained that tyres are made of rubber and expands at high temperature. So, when yu are travelling in the afternoon when the asphalt on the road is hot, the tyre will want to expand. If the pressure in the tyre is to much and wouldn't accommodate the expansion, a burst is likely to happen at that time. Pls check the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle
