ChoCho54:I don't think it was a political tool per say but a genuine effort by the SW leaders to secure their people having given up on the nation's security apparatus. In my opinion, I feel it was rushed and not properly planned which was why it received the backlash that it did that made it look like a political tool though they are trying to rectify their mistakes. The yorubas will never agitate for sovereignty because the current structure favours them. From another angle, it might be their own way of scaring the north to submit to their presidential ambition who knows, which also makes it a somewhat political tool. Politics is a dirty game and who plays smart wins. |
I Smh for people who are calling the Governors cowards but let me make some things clear, we Igbos might not always be on the same page with our leaders but they are right on this security outfit. We are now politicizing this regional security stuff so much at the detriment of its real purpose which is to secure the lives and properties of the region. Every state and region has its own peculiarities and the security outfit should be tailored to those peculiarities. So because SW set up Amotekun to fight herdsmen amidst other issues, the SE should also set up theirs to fight herdsmen forgetting that herdsmen killings are not the main security challenge in the SE. If we can be honest to ourselves, the major security challenge in the east is Armed robbery and kidnapping and these crimes are not perpetuated by Fulani herdsmen because they don't really hold sway in the SE. Farmer/herder clashes occur mostly at border villages in Enugu and Ebonyi because they share borders with kogi and Benue states which makes it easy for the herdsmen to penetrate. This led to the establishment of forest guards, neighborhood watch, vigilantie groups that work and share info with the police and since then how many casualties have the SE recorded from herder/farmer clashes. Why change a winning team just because you want to copy what others are doing. I am very optimistic the governors considered all these before adopting the NPF community police model because what we need most in the SE is intelligence gathering to help strategize and locate the hideouts of these armed robbers and kidnappers and these criminals are in the urban areas not in remote villages like herdsmen. Since the community police officers will be comprised of indegenes who know their terrains, the issue of sabotage by the non-indigenous elements of the NPF will be highly subdued. I still believe if and when the SS region decides to set up their regional security outfit, there is every possibility that they will follow this SE model because of the almost similar terrain and security situation on ground presently. Please let us be properly guided. The primary purpose is Security and not politics. |
Odingo1:That is why I never look at any of them as role models. No ingenuity at all except for maybe Dangote because before the FG fiats, be built his business and everyone was seeing the organic growth. Anybody can be a billionaire if gifted oil wells, so no biggie. The real role models should be Elizade, Coscharis, Innoson, the billionaire bank execs like Elumelu, Ovia, Subomi Balogun. These men started from the scratch. |
Xclusiveme:Most Arabian wealth are sovereign funds. More like the countries' wealth are controlled by some royal families. So if you are born into any of these ruling families, you are automatically a billionaire. This is why the House of Saud is arguably the richest family in the world with almost a trillion dollar fortune. |
Many Nigerian politicians are worth at least a billion USD like IBB, OBJ, GEJ, Atiku, Tinubu, Odili. Even Some of all these dollar multimillionaires we have today in Nigeria are fronts for some of our politicians. If u know u know |
orunmila144:Thanks. Please keep it up with your good works. |
orunmila144:Thanks a lot but what type of woman would suit my solar n lunar signs. I would really like to know just in case. |
orunmila144:Can this union erode my material wealth because I am scared of being poor in this life. How is sucking away my energy not necessarily a bad thing? |
orunmila144:Woow. So any solution or remedy to this or is it just set in stone to happen like you just said. Please @bolded, how is it not necessarily a bad thing? Then, will this union erode my material wealth because I am scared of being poor in life. Thanks |
orunmila144:Dear Orunmila, I have been in this relationship for 5 years now and I want to propose to her on Valentines Day. My DOB is 15th Oct, 1990 and hers is 17th Sept, 1991. For now everything is moving smoothly but I would want you to confirm if we are really compatible. Thanks |

Afamed:Intels which is his most lucrative business was established in 1982. |
IkeOnyia:And you think efcc can probe any ex-governor without collaboration from the sitting governor. Do you hear any ex-governor in good terms with his successor being probed by efcc? The governor's stooge will cover all traces of financial misappropriation. If Rochas had succeeded in imposing his son-in-law on imolites, do you think efcc will seize anything? The recovered loot will finally go back to the state government. |
You are on point sir |
I don't seriously care about how APC fights corruption but this OUK's conviction is a very welcome development. I am only interested in what affects me which is making sure all corrupt politicians in the SE are convicted to make the current and future politicians sit up and develop the region. I just hope and wish Rochas and T.A Orji will follow suit. The only downside is that as the leader of APC in the state, his absence would affect the party in the state at a time when they are gathering serious momentum. I was born and bred in Abia and I know that the major problem of Abia state is PDP starting from OUK. The lack of strong opposition in the state makes PDP too comfortable in the state which is bad for democracy because they know that no matter their performance, they would surely win. Due to this overconfidence, they are currently grooming Chinedu Orji(T.A Orji's son) to take over from Ikpeazu against the people's wishes. Abians should take a cue from imolites who care more about performance irrespective of your party. Its high time Abia APC and APGA worked together to oust pdp from the state. |
This is a huge waste of resources. Setting up a faculty of transportation in one federal university per geographical zone and equip them properly would have been ideal because it will save cost and at the same time every region will benefit from it. Say Unn or unizik for SE UI or unilag for SW Uniben or uniport for SS Unilorin or Uniabuja for NC ABU or UDU for NW Unimaid or Futyola for NE We like wasting resources in this country that sometimes I wonder if those that come up with this useless ideas think at all. |
Starz825:He spends like that because he knows he has an inheritance waiting for him but I think it would be foolish of him not to invest properly despite his dad's wealth. The way he spends on frivolous things doesn't give me the impression that he invests wisely but what do I know. His money, his life. I am his big fan because he is generous and kind hearted. Even wizkid who might possibly be as rich as he is considering income made from music is not this extravagant because he knows where he is coming from and have an obligation to invest wisely for himself and family. If 2baba, Dbanj and psquare haven't invested wisely from the fortune they made during their peak years, they wouldn't have been balling now. Infact, these 3 are the role models artists should emulate in terms of making wise investments for the future and not people like Davido. Money can be transient, so make hay while the sun shines. |
majamajic:Lol.....Pochetinno was a victim of his own success. |
efighter:He died during Buhari's tenure slowpoke. |
Nyamiri:He died during Buhari's regime and not Jonathan. You must also be daft to believe that Alex Ekwueme was a poor man that he would need the government to pay his hospital bills. If you don't know, Ekwueme was a world-class architect and owned the first architectural private firm in Nigeria and Modotel Hotels(located in every major city in the SE and Abuja) plus a massive real estate business. He also became a lawyer. Even without all these achievements, how do you even think that someone that reached the level of VP in Nigeria cannot be able to pay for his hospital bills? The government intervening is a gesture accorded to him as a former elder statesman(as its done for other statesmen) not because he couldn't afford it. He died a fulfilled and accomplished man at the ripe old age of 85 not because of poor medical treatment. Federal University, Ebonyi state is also named after him. |
Xisnin:Maybe because our legal system is flawed. You know in saner climes, she would probably win because I still cannot see what school rule she disobeyed here looking at the circumstances. What happens to all d millions being spent so far by the parents so far to get her to that level. I am not trying to exonorate the girl for her stupidity but at the same time expelling her was too harsh on her. She is an adult and there are better ways to punish her since the act didn't happen within the school's jurisdiction. |
GeneralShepherd:I think a good lawyer can win this case in the girl's favour. The school's rules and regulation begins and ends within the school environment or any other place within the school's jurisdiction. Do they know how many students in such religious schools that book hotel rooms in nearby towns just to have sex during breaks before going to their respective homes? This is a consensual sex outside the campus during school holidays, that it was made public doesn't make it a crime. Proper counselling or at most suspension would have sufficed. Hypocrisy will kill us in this country. |
God2man2again:He might be successful with Tottenham and I say might because he won't get the finances he needs to succeed and Tottenham can't compete with the big boys in the market. I still insist his coaching methods are going out of fashion. Why do you think Juve severed ties with a very successful Allegri to hire the lesser successful Sarri. It is because Allegri is pragmatic while Sarri plays an expansive brand of football which is what every fan wants. Secondly, Mourinho might get them one or two trophies which I think is the angle Tottenham looked at before hiring him to justify their new status as one of football elite clubs. The challenge here is that will Tottenham buy into Mourinho's short term approach of buying mostly already made players who are very expensive in today's market or even approaching 30s or will he buy into tottenham's approach of signing mostly potentials and giving them the platform to excel. We know mourinho doesn't always exercise patience with young players. The only factor that would work for him at Tottenham is that the pressure to succeed is not as huge as man utd, Chelsea or real Madrid. With that, he will likely buy into Tottenham's philosophy and then be patient. |
Gazzy88:He knows EPL is the only competitive league today. He thrives on competition and rivalry. |
Tookool:His tactics are really outdated. He doesn't train his players hard and they are not usually very fit because he prefers to defend and counter attack while retaining energy. Modern football has gone past that stage, every team works very hard these days fighting for every loose ball from attack to defence. See how Liverpool, man city and most top teams play today. I taught he would have gone for a coaching course during his hiatus, instead he went into punditry. Well goodluck to him. I think he would do well for the first two seasons because Tottenham possess better players than Man United but also have aging players especially in defence which was why Pochetino wanted to rebuild. Trophies or not, I don't think most top managers can achieve what Poch did with Tottenham in a very competitive league like EPL with world class managers. The least the club would have done was to give him this season and funds to rebuild the team considering he went 2 years without any signing and still achieved top 4 and champ league final. That's a huge revenue for the club. They didn't treat him well at all. |
Tottenham just handed Bayern Munich a brand new coach. They can't believe their luck. At least Poch would upgrade his CV with bundesliga, dfb pokal and a potential champions league. |
helinues:Most of you people in this forum are misinformed if you think majority of abians actually voted Ikpeazu in the last election. They are tired of Pdp misrule in that state. The guy rigged himself for 2nd term. The people's choice was Uche Ogah of APC who is now a federal minister. The problem Ogah had was Alex Otti of Apga who was splitting his votes. Otti is not a good politician, he always disappears after every election and reappears during election period just like Jimi Abaje of Lagos. Ogah needs to do a good job as a minister to further strengthen his case and convince abians on his leadership credentials though he is already a very successful businessman and philanthropist. Mark my words, Abia will be APC by 2023. They are making good progress in the state presently. All elective positions in abia north senatorial zone are occupied by Apc candidates both at federal and state level. Other pdp governors in the SE are performing well and APC would have won Imo if not for imposition of unpopular candidate like we saw in Ekiti, Ogun and Bayelsa. We need healthy opposition in every state so that the governors will sit up and work, that's the only way we can move forward as a country. |
Once in a while in the Nigerian political scene, the people's choice do prevail. This is what we are seeing in bayelsa today. We also saw that in Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun and Imo. Guber elections in Osun, Kano and Kogi were massively rigged. Governors should learn from all these because the era of imposition is gradually ending in Nigeria especially those that performed woefully like Dickson, Aregbe etc. |
