Penguin2: Since the 1952 elections in the colonial Nigeria till this year’s general elections, about 70 years later, the Southeast and Southsouth have, to a substantial extent, always voted in same direction.
The two regions have been like a woman’s breast where if you are able to suck one, you will get the other one for free. That is that if you can get the Southsouth to support your presidential ambition as a presidential candidate then you are getting the southeast as jara, and vice versa.
This might be because these two regions were historically one region before the balkanization that happened in 1967 at the wake of the Civil War which was intended to weaken the homogeneity of the Old Eastern Region.
But asides the fact that these regions shared same political and regional entity in the past, they are almost, substantially, same people as can be observed from their homogeneous Christianity, similarities in culture, customs, etc. The only substantially separation between these people is dialects.
Now, this near homogeneity is why they tend to share same worldview and are always attracted to same thing, ideas and ideals. Hence the consistency in voting in same direction in successive elections.
This union between SE/SS is why northern politicians have always coveted an alliance between the north and SE/SS. This was the pattern since 1960 when Northern and Eastern alliance birthed the first indigenous government when Tafawa Balewa became Prime Minister and Azikiwe became President. This alliance was sustained in the 1979 and 1983 elections, and between 1999 till 2015.
We can say that that pattern was broken by Buhari in 2015 because he was overly popular in the north. But even Buhari himself courted the North/Eastern alliance in 2 election cycles but failed to get because the Easterners failed to gravitate to him because of the reason we just finished seeing for 8 years.
Now, after the last election where the incumbent president was able to be declared ‘winner’ because Atiku and Obi being on the ballot divided the Northern/Eastern alliance votes, I’ve noticed that Tinubu has commissioned his foot soldiers to start both online and offline propaganda to try to break the bond between the two brothers of Southeast and Southsouth.
That’s why Asari Dokubo started saying gibberish online about how he was selling Igbos and all. It’s obvious the intention was to get the Igbos to react, and from there spark an ethnic friction between the Ijaw and Igbo and from there they will use propaganda to lump other ethnic minorities in Southsouth into it of how Igbos are trying to dominate them and other lies they’ve told since the 1960s.
But the Igbos are always one million miles ahead of these agents of darkness. That’s why till today not even an Igbo baby has responded to Asari Dokubo. You would wonder if all Igbos are in one WhatsApp group where we were instructed not to respond to Asari but we are not. We are just so alike that we reason and react same way to things. We saw through Asari from a million miles and ignored him. Now he has foolishly crawled back to whence he came.
But not only Asari, even here on Nairaland, I’ve seen multiple threads trying to tell Southsouth people why they should stop associating with the Southeast. Some have even created threads to tell Ebonyi people that they are not Igbos just so they would stop adding to the voting powerhouse that is SE/SS.
Now, apart from Asari and online minions, a closer look at the actions Wike, Ibori, Akpabio and co, will tell you that they are trying to re-engineer the Southsouth away from the Southeast and redirect them towards the Southwest so they can birth a SS/SW alliance that would now be going into alliance with the north to win elections. That’s the reason they fought so had to give Akpabio the Senate Presidency just to make it seem that Tinubu cares about the Southsouth.
Hence my question, why is Tinubu and his men trying to separate two brothers?
Do you not know we can see through you from a million miles away?

Dear President Biden,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome the decision of your administration to fulfil its promise to impose visa ban on Nigerian politicians whose actions or inactions led to various acts of terrorism, including money laundering, thuggery, assassinations, destruction of property, and street killings during the Nigerian elections of 2023.
Before going further, please permit me to re-introduce myself. I am an Oil & Gas executive resident in the United States of America and currently sit at the board of First Texas Energy Corporation as chairman. I have also taught in many U.S. universities and colleges for over two decades and remain an Adjunct professor at the Houston Community College System. More relatively, I am a member of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in Nigeria, through which I explored a presidential race during the country’s 2019 electoral cycle.
This letter is a solemn appeal for you to use your good offices to ensure that the visa ban includes Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC in the controversial 2023 election. The lingering stench of blood flowing from the said election has its origin in his brain. In short, any attempt to exclude him is akin to any discussion of the January 6 U.S Capitol Attack without a mention of Donald Trump.
The conspiracy of violence that marred Nigeria’s 2023 elections was not only plainly premeditated and planned, but it was also well studied, foreseen, and reported to the public and relevant authorities before it hatched.
For example, in a widely circulated essay, titled “Tinubu’s Blind Ambition Provoking a Civil War, By SKC Ogbonnia”, I had exposed the very conspiracy that came to pass. The essay was published June 16, 2022, eight months before the election, and copied to the U.S. intelligence community, including the Department of State. It is a chronological account of Tinubu’s history with violent extremism. An excerpt reads as follows:
“Keenly aware that he is neither physically fit nor morally sound to mount a presidential campaign let alone govern Nigeria, Mr. Tinubu is already attempting to win by hook or crook. Barely less than one week after grabbing the presidential ticket of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), he is already fanning the embers of war. Very glaring is a recent incident in which armed thugs were sent to disrupt the traders of Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos State, who went the extra mile to shut their shops in order to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).”
“A selling point in Tinubu’s march to the APC nomination is the assumption that he dictates who wins and who loses in Nigeria’s most populous state of Lagos. But, as an APC chieftain and the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, noted in a recent speech, Tinubu has been able to lord himself over the good people of the state because of low voter turnout. In Governor el-Rufai’s own words, "Here in Lagos, you have over six million registered voters, only about a million voted (in 2019 general elections); five million did not vote.” [end of el-Rufai quote).
“This low voter turnout is rooted in Tinubu’s lack of popularity among the masses. To that end, he has always deployed all manners of terror to suppress the votes of his opponents. Like the attack on the Igbo traders at Alaba International Market, armed thugs were also used to unleash terror on the voters in many parts of Lagos State with a heavy Igbo population during the 2019 elections.”
Despite massive intimidation and voter suppression, which is his stock in trade, Tinubu still lost his home state of Lagos in the 2023 presidential election. Given that he owes his huge fortune to the Lagos State treasury, it did not come as a surprise that the state’s governorship election that came few weeks later became a do or die.
Mr. President, there is a clear pattern. Bola Ahmed Tinubu represents the core of a corrupt oligarchy that weaponized poverty to transpose Nigeria as the epicenter of modern-day slavery and violent extremism. Unfortunately, the man has remained above the law in Nigeria. And when there is no consequence for bad behavior, the bad behavior usually worsens.
Today, Tinubu’s pattern of terror has permeated the entire Nigerian society. Today, street violence has become the order of the day in the African country. A sad case in point is the recent attack on U.S. Embassy staff in Nigeria, which claimed four innocent lives.
Mr. President, it may also interest you that Tinubu is the same character that forfeited $460,000.00 to the authorities in the United States of America, allegedly for drugs trafficking and money laundering. Yet, he is set to assume the leadership of Africa’s biggest economy.
The truth, if it is already not manifest, is that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a threat to world order. As various intelligence reports attest, though Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency concluded that the degree of his corruption is one of an “international dimension”, his true identity remains unknown. But well-known is the fact that he has been able to avoid prosecution by masterfully deploying his stupendous illegitimate wealth to seize and control Nigeria’s power apparatus.
Therefore, the U.S. ban on corrupt Nigeria politicians only goes to become a shaggy-dog story if Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the first person on the list. In fairness, someone of his character does not deserve to be allowed into any country of the world. His proper destination ought to be the International Criminal Court at the Hague, where he should be charged with crime against the humanity.
Mr. President, the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, I urge you, I urge you to seize this moment in history. I urge you take a global leadership role on this matter by seeing the world as one. I urge you to make the world a better place by answering the call of the Nigerian masses. Failure to hold Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu accountable is a welcome breeze to intercontinental terrorism, brazen corruption, money laundering, and drug trafficking.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has said Nigeria cannot get anything right unless workers’ welfare is well taken care of.
Obi, who spoke on Monday at the commemoration of this year’s May Day celebrations at the Eagle Square, Abuja, noted that this is the reason he is insisting on moving the country from consumption to production.
“The topic of today is socioeconomic justice. When we talk about that, we talk about justice for all,” Obi told the workers who were gathered for the global annual event used to celebrate workers’ achievement.
“All we want is to build a country where Nigerians will be proud to say that they are Nigerians, a country where people will not be struggling to go out, a country where all of us workers will say they are working and happy.
“We can’t get the economy right, we can’t get anything right until the workers are working and they are being looked after — their welfare and everything — and they are productive. That is why we say we will move it from consumption to production.”
He urged you the workers to “continue what you are doing, continue to be law-abiding” for a peaceful country, adding that Nigerians have no other country which he said citizens must build for their children.
The former Anambra State governor, who said he was at the event in solidarity with workers as a worker himself, thanked leaders of the organised labour for extending an invitation to him.

I have checked Nigeria's debt crises, excessive loans that can't be repaid. Subsidy that can no longer be financed. Worse still an economy that is already ruined to the extent that removing subsidy will bring the economy collapsing totally.

What should you expect from this? The culprit/suspects account will be PLACED ON HOLD. His BVN will be blocked permanently. No account will ever be opened neither will he be able to transact banking business in that name until he clears himself with the bank.
