O'shea gets a special mention for going the distance on a yellow - if to sey na Rafael huh grin grin

Sevilla President José María del Nido has refused to confirm any transfers and will only say that any business done will be made official when the club knows if it is playing in the Champions League next season. He was also coy when asked about the future of boss Gregorio Manzano, saying: “We will see out this campaign and try to finish third or fourth. When the season is over we will talk about him then.”

Los Nervionenses are also on the verge of signing Rayo Vallecano winger Jorge Andúcar, otherwise known as 'Coke', after Álvaro Negredo revealed that the player, with whom he had grown up in the Vallecas district of Madrid, told him he would like to join him at Sevilla in preference to Valencia. The player has been coveted by several La Liga clubs but Negredo is thought to have been the deciding factor in any possible transfer.

In the meantime, Sevilla could be thwarted in their attempt to sign Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro. Gregorio Manzano has made the French international his number one target but Valencia have moved quickly to try and tie up a deal for the 23-year-old, who could cost upwards of £15m. Los Ché have made an initial offer of an £8m down payment as boss Unai Emery knows he might need a replacement for Aritz Aduriz, who is being targeted by Athletic Bilbao. San Sebastián-born Aduriz spent three seasons at the San Mamés earlier in his career (2005-2008) and boss Joaquín Caparrós is keen to bring him back to partner Fernando Llorente.

Encouraging moves by the Sevilla Fc management - showing signs of focus towards next season. The squad is taking shpe, maybe not from a tactical standpoint, but at least the fans can have some relative peace knowing there is a measure of depth now in the squad!

HAMBURG, Germany (AP)—Germany midfielder Piotr Trochowski is leaving Hamburger SV at the end of the season to join Sevilla.

Trochowski’s agent Roman Grill says his client will sign a four-year contract with the Spanish side.

The 27-year-old midfielder lost his place in the starting lineup of Hamburg this season and as a consequence has been ignored by Germany coach Joachim Loew for recent games. Trochowski’s contract in Hamburg runs out at the end of the season.

Villareal got hammered again. . . . . . .just 8 points adrift & that last UCL spot is dangling overhead invitingly - is it possible? If Villareal do not see a change in fortune soon, then the tussle for Europa ligue football might just turn to a melee for UCL!

Down the home stretch now. . . .healthy lead to cling onto going into the games against Chelsea & Arsenal; players returning fresh & rested - things are certainly looking bright! grin

Very good game indeed.
Mallorca clearly controlled the first half, but Sevilla were solid, and threatened well in the second. Surprisingly open till the end.
I was a bit amused by the fans' reaction to Manzano before the game started.
There's some controversy about Manzano's time in Mallorca with respect to their financial situation hence the hint of hostility.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Sevilla Fc - Fans Zone by RuuDie(op): 10:54pm On Apr 09, 2011
wow. . . .very entertaining game. 2-all its ended!

How I wish we could play like this earlier in the season; we probably wouldn't be scrapping for Europa ligue places now.

All in all, not a bad result. . . .we move into 5th place, a point ahead of Bilbao. Things are looking sunny so far!

2-2. . . . Rakitic strikes again  grin grin grin grin

A huge chunk of good fortune as Oarte drops the ball in the area - but we are playing far better this second half, keeping the ball better and getting into advanced areas in the opposition's end of the park.

Poor display from Bilbao. I expected more from them, they just didn't turn up. They gave away two penalties needlessly and hardly threatened
Yep. . . . . poor final balls, so llorente had next to nothing to work with!

But I must say that ref had a Real madrid shirt under his uniform - some dubious officiating IMHO!

Mallorca 2-1 Sevilla, 2nd half.
Tough one, a draw won't be a bad result here. . . . . . .if only Negredo can just put away the chances coming his way!

Kanoute out for about 4 weeks. . . .meaning the only fit, first-team, out-n-out striker is Negredo. . . . .not good. Well, lets see what Monchi's famous academy can produce as back up!

Unfortunately I missed that game, was out on the road.
But Sevilla is making a big push now. I am impressed. Though I kind of like Villareal, they seem to be holding their own in Europe. I just want La Liga to have a strong challenge in Europe next year.
there is a bit of stability about sevilla now. . . .the addition of rakitic and medel to the squad helped greatly and we also have 2 or 3 decent players on the bench that can be called up at any time - still far from the desired finished product but far better off than earlier in the season!

Not really putting my mind so much on the UCL because its a much bigger ask winning that than the other titles we're in the running for but. . . . .its been awhile we've beaten chelsea and they seem to be getting cocky and assured that will get their desired result whenever they meet us; i just want that to end - i would love that we win and not just by virtue of the away goals rule!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: In Fergie We Trust! by RuuDie(m): 1:34pm On Apr 04, 2011
Absolutely fabulous weekend. . . .@ halftime, i could have choked SAF to death, thank God it didn't get to that.

Fabio is definitely better than Rafael; more versatile and much more composed - & composure is really key; so many times its what makes the difference between players.
Gibson did okay as against previous matches. . . . .but the clincher was Giggs at left-back - outrageous but worked like crase grin

throwing Chicharito and Berbatov in was also a very good move, playing the lone striker thing never seems to work for us!

Well, you guys were a bit lucky to not have lost. A disallowed free kick, two efforts crashed off the bar, penalty claim from Bojan . . . game could have gone our way. But I must say, the team looked a lot better against Barca, and last night against Valencia, than they have for most of the season. More like the Sevilla we're used to. Though poor finishing and cluelessness in the box still plagues the team.
Very true. . . .but going by the way things are going now, we'll be back and better next season. Slowly but surely the ship is being steadied, Manzano just needs quality players to work with, establish a starting team and adequate back-ups. With depth and some confidence restored in the squad, we'll be a threat again!

There was nothing malicious about Evan's tackle, it was just unfortunate that Holden got badly hurt in the process. . . .but prior to that, Holden got away with committing about four tackles almost in succession, no caution; Evra almost got his ankle ripped off by a challenge similar to Evan's, still no action by the ref --- I had a feeling that ref was out to get UTD but Baba God pass am grin
