A loss nonetheless but one Sevilla Fc can take heart from. . . . the champions were really rattled & its not often we get see that!
Good battling performance; & Barca, for once, can count 'emselves very lucky indeed. Guardiola's countenance at 2 nil said it all. . . . . "this sevilla side could still make a match of it" & how we did.

Even though it pains me that we lost; but i take consolation in the fact that we kept catalan hearts in mouths for the better part of 25mins. . . . grin

Thing to note is; the greatest football managers start from scratch, build up and leave lasting legacies.

Glory-hunter is apt for JM in a funny sort of way - he gets all the glory and almost certainly leaves the club in tatters. 1 thing is absolutely certain, if you're looking for short-term success, JM is your man!

8pm naija time

Sevilla vs Barca. . . . . . @ The Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan

Sevilla looking to make it 3 wins on the bounce for the first time in a long, long time in what has been an absolutely topsy-turvy season . . . . . & what a massive scalp it would be.

Fabiano is out but Kanoute & Negredo have been very good in the last 3 outings; Zokora in the middle has helped a lot lately and Jesus Navas is picking up form well enough.
As long as we don't play the damning 4-5-1; we stand a chance on the offensive to put a bit of pressure on Barca's defence too. We have to score goals; that is key!

Jimenez's sack was very welcome - Antonio Alvarez has breathe new air into the side and there seems to be an improvement in the sides play even though some of the losses to Valladolid & Getafe are somewhat unpleasant; but the side has been scoring goals.
Tactically, Álvarez prefers a stock 4-4-2 formation for seven of the eight games he has been incharge so far this season. This has generally meant deploying two outright strikers, usually Fabiano, Negredo or Kanoute, who are supported on the flanks by speedy wingers Navas and Barcelona reject Capel.

. . . . .And in some slightly silly foreign gossip, Marca and the rest have been claiming that Real Madrid will swoop for Lionel Messi, matching his £120m buy-out clause.
The initial plan was to apparently throw the bid in during the build-up to the Champions League final, which is in Madrid, thus distracting player and club.

Now that Barcelona have not qualified there is no timescale on it, but Los Merengues are still keen. Messi, however, is not.

If CR9 is that good. . . . . . RM wouldn't have signed Angel Di Maria or still be chasing after Messi with so much desperation!

Premier League - Paper round: United ponder Anelka swoop
Eurosport - Sat, 08 May 10:15:00 2010

Manchester United could make a shock bid for Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka, according to newspaper reports.

The France international, 31, is considering his options with only one year left on his deal and, despite Chelsea offering him a two-year contract, United are ready with improved terms should talks collapse (The Sun).

Anelka, who Sir Alex Ferguson has tried to sign twice before, would cost around £8 million.

That would signal the end for £30.75m flop Dimitar Berbatov, who could join Milan or return to Germany with Bayern Munich.
This will certainly be a funny 1 - like 4 like - Anelka / Berbatov

Dolemite:
Yes, and what I'm saying is the default setting is supposed to be optimal but in reality it is very difficult. . .a keyboard doesn't suit soccer games, game pads are much better.
True. . . . but i'm much more comfy playing soccer games with the keyboard; as long as the keys are configured to follow each other & split out evenly on both sides of the KB, between both hands, then its quite easy!

French-born Mbolhi, 24, will not take part in Slavia's last two matches this season after flying to England so United boss Alex Ferguson can have a closer look at him.

"I've talked to (United manager) Alex Ferguson and he's going on trial," Slavia president Ventsislav Stefanov told the Bulgarian state agency BTA.

Mbolhi has been named in Algeria's preliminary squad for next month's World Cup in South Africa

The keeper, who represented France at youth level, joined Slavia in June and was voted the Bulgarian league's best keeper seven months later.

Who does not know that Pienaar has been one of the better CM's this season? That would be Ruudie the slowpoke! Who else would compare Olofinjana to Pienaar? The more you type the more we see your ignorance in HD Vision please don't stop now crack me up some more
There is Tevez in my team already you dweeb! Bent doesn't need to take P.K's. Stats tell me he is the 3rd best scoring striker in the league thats enuff for me[/quote]Oh now I see u've suddenly got amnesia to add to the extremely malignant amentia that courses thru your vains like bar beach high tide! Read down the line of previous posts & establish where d insults started from. . . . . to'zo!

In all Pienaar's EPL career how many games has he played from CM?  A-40 Speed-racer.
Stats, stats, stats. . . . . & thats where your problem lies - stats!!! Because he's 3rd on the top scorer's chart makes him a better player than all the others below him abi huh
Maybe if u actually took time to watch the games instead of hanging on street-corners & shekpe joints 2 read complete sports & listen to roadside analysis; you'd make a point worth giving 1 ear.

A-40
^^ A Vermaelen who has played close to 90% of all our EPL games this season and got injured at the tail end of the season and a Cesc who has featured in at least 30 games overall are the players you are calling injury prone?? If i called you an i.mbecile i would be disrespecting i.mbeciles. Are u being dumb on purpose or is it just a reflex action

My team would beat yours 24/7 365,366 in a leap year. Palacios and Pienaar central and Ether boy & Milner manning the flanks

Darren Bent the third highest scorer in the league netting half of his team's entire goals and scoring opposition like Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool and Utd shouldn't be in my team? You must be outta ya mind
Jeez. . . .  I'm on my knees right now praying to God that this your moronic trait is not genetic; surely the world cannot do with any more of your kind!

Holy-dooly, u really are an absolute muggins. . . .  i really did under-estimate the extent of your tomfoollery.
I'd rather Burnley's Alexander on my side as Centre-forward instead of Bent - @ least, he knows how to play a good PK! Pienaar in CM huh to what effect huh why not just stick Olofinjana in there, am sure he can spray much better incisive passes all over the park!

Honestly, I'm not sure your team can go 25mins without someone being stretchered off!

Liverpool, who were the better side before Gerrard's error, faded badly as the fatigue of their extra-time Europa League exit to Atletico Madrid on Thursday took its toll.

Conspiracy theorists suggested in the week that Liverpool would not exactly mourn a Chelsea victory, which would help prevent United from winning a record 19th league title.

But Liverpool are a proud enough club not to fall into the trap of making the purpose of their existence merely to frustrate their biggest rivals, and their poor performance was down not to a lack of effort, but to a lack of ability.

I guess so many would rather delude themselves than ever believe Saint Steven Gerrard capable of malevolence!
