oisehumen:super eagles or super nazis. . . . i care not! a bookable offense is a bookable offense - did cahill deserve a straight red against germany? no! but the germans benefitted from that, now they are on the receiving end; albeit correctly, live with it and quit moaning! |
mikeansy:who cares about demeanor. . . . he was never gonna get to those balls he challenged for, so what do u expect the ref to do abegi, he got what he deserved jare! |
investinme:shuo. . . . na ref send klose message. na 2 red card e s'pose be sef. podolski sef s'pose don get red, u no see how im been wan comot keeper blockos e get luck sey ref no catch am! |
close shave for serbia. . . . off the crossbar and then cleared off d line. they survive d scare & take their lead to d interval! dis german coach na model oh. . . . shuo, na fine boi im come do 4 here!? |
khadira and ozeil are by far the best german players in this tournament so far. . . . its like they've played together 4 ages; their understanding is telepathic!if serbia wins, then this group will be literally lit up with permuations xpecially if the aussies beat ghana too - am loving this ![]() |
today jabulani no go helep dem. . . . ![]() |
germany don enter 1-chance; serbia go finish dem today ![]() serbia 1-0 germany |
OttO Rehhagel showed his experience and class as a manger immediately substituting one of his central defenders for Samaras (a striker) as soon as that red card was shown to kaita. That probably was a defining moment for them in seizing the initiative. . . . wonder if Lagerback woulda had the guts/guile to do the same if the reverse had been the case. ![]() Anyways, i tip the greeks to steal a point off Argentina - i'm sure they can be drilled to be a very stoic defensive unit as we saw in the Euros back in '04! |
& on comes Ninis to do more damage!!! |
& the jabulani has comes back to haunt naija ![]() greece are finally gonna get a WC win. . . . bet the koreans are absolutely loving this! |
greece's first ever WC goal. . . . how ironic! |
10mins+ & most of it i our half of the field; not encouraging at all! |
well, the greeks have really started like they fancy their chances. . . . good controlled play early on! |
i've had and still have my doubts about the ability of Maradona to properly steer this side but I've gotta say he deserves some credit thus far even though its only 2 games & there's ways to go but the stability of the team, the organization, composure, confidence and the maturity they exhibit is admirable. . . . seriously, i was expecting to see a very unruly, disorganized setup; he might not be the most tactically sound but Maradona has done really well so far! |
Princek12:netting 3 goals against who ![]() abegi jor. . . . when the stiffer challenges come, higuain fades like the rainbow after a storm! |
Maradona should give Milito some playing time. . . . this Higuain guy does not convince me at all; hattrick or not. Argentina need a box-18 predator not some pretty boy! |
info henry:on the contrary. . . . if the koreans make the mistake of going on the offensive, they'll be torn to shreds on the counter - i think they'll rather just take a 2-1 loss and hope for better against naija. |
Its easy for everybody to say the players should adapt to the new jabulani - but is it really easy to adapt? how long will it take to adapt? i think we should cut these players some slack cuz its not really easy on 'em. . . . we all knw how horrid it looks on tv when they ballon the ball into the skies & we're not taking into consideration how bad they feel when that happens! |
marutimon:the scoreline is irrelevant; the south africans could afford anything but a loss in this game. even if the french/mexicans draw again today, qualification is still not assured for south africa. |
marutimon:this is 1 boat i think i can jump fairly comfortably. . . . SA is out of this 1 4 sure! |
Even at 0-1 Bafana Bafana never looked like they could come back; so bad officiating is not the issue here. . . . Perreira shoulda played with 2 forwards outright cuz they were really flat-footed in attack & I have never quite liked the choice of Mphela upfront - Parker woulda been better suited, he is quicker, sharper, energetic & way livelier than Mphela; we saw a glimpse of his worth at the Confedie cup, wonder why they leave him out on the bench. . . or at best, play both Mphela & Parker upfront. |
Uruguay clearly deserved to win. . . they were by far the better side! So sad on such a special day in SA history too. . . . In the first WC on African soil, for the very first time, the host nation will not progress beyond the group stage. . . So, so sad! ![]() |
Why i do not suscribe to the "nazi conspiracy theory" . . . . . . . . but i do believe that having fore-knowledge of that ball might be, in no small way, aiding the german cause in this WC. . . . . take nothing away from their approach play which was superb that night; but looking at that match against all others they had so much mastery & control over the jabulani that you had to marvel, while other teams are so laboring! |
jalether:I never heard you say the same about Jose Mourinho & Inter when they packed the whole San-siro in front of their goal-mouth at the Nou camp earlier this year! |
now this is a shocker. . . . but it was always in the air with the way N.Korea performed against Brazil last night + the Swiss have a 1/2 decent side with very quality manager, there was always the possibility that they could be dangerous! |
I quite agree that the manager shoulders the blame for this loss. . . . but in fairness to him, this Cameroonian team is in tatters - even Jose Mourinho would find it a mammoth task making winners outta this team. Changing the goalie is forgivable, knowing Kameni, he's probably done something in camp to ire the manager. . . . leaving Alex song out - inexplicable and playing Moting as the main striker - logical but unwise. I can understand the choice of Webo but not as a wing-man. Webo should have been the main forward. Webo made a strong case for himself in the qualifiers & friendlies with decent performances even though he was a substitute in most of those games. Eto'o is equally not unfamiliar with playing on the wing as he does it a lot for Inter and even at Barca. It is no secret, the Cameroonian side do not have a significant creative midfielder, Alex is probably the closest to that - Emana is a forward and not a midfielder - in fact, it'd be criminal to play him in that position. Same apllies for Ngouemo & Makoun. They also do not have pacey, tricky wingers either hence having to take a gamble with Eto'o there. There's experience in abundance on the bench - Idrissou, Geremi, Rigobert, Ngouemo. . . . but a definite lack of pace and creativity; Idrissou being the most useful in the attacking sense for his aerial prowess. When I really ponder over it, sympathes should go to Le Guen, he is currently working with a squad thats very lean on resources and absolutely short on talent. Maybe he was hoping for some form of flexibility, imagination and inventiveness from his forward-men (inter-change of positions and movement off the ball - if you notice, they rarely ever do that making their play rigid) Maybe in years to come, the younger generation will step-up and produce the goods but this current side is just rubbish! |
Eastbay:I'm not overly interested in the "big names". . . . I'd love to see the underdogs perform well and even have new hands (preferably African) lift the WC for the first time. I've got my eyes on the US team. . . . . they have the air of a silent, stable, dangerous outfit. The Swiss are another that could surprise - well organized & with Ottmar Hitzfeld at the helm, they have a very good head on the bench who can steady the ship properly. |
& believe me u. . . . . i think three-quarters of the whole bunch of players in that WC that play consistently for Chelsea FC are nursing 1 injury or another except that they do not wanna declare it publicly. |
jalether:I'd pin it to a huge dose of calcium deficiency & a long, gruelling season. . . . but in Nani's case (& Nani only) tryna do what he shoulda been doing all season long for MU. I mean if the bloody plonker had impressed wella during the season, would he have to be sweating it, tryna to show everybody that he's got something to show!?![]() |
dayokanu:Same as that of New Zealand ![]() |
