My argument has been and will always remain, so much has changed about UTD in the last 3 seasons but Rooney has been the one constant. Maybe he is what needs to be changed for us to see some progress!

In my opinion, Moyes and LVG (initially) both a common error - making Rooney an 'unmovable' object in what should be 'transitioning' sides. Now LVG is trying to 'manage' this by trying Rooney in different positions across the field.

Chelsea has shipped out Lampard, Liverpool will soon ship out Gerrard... we may actually be better off not building the team so much around Rooney or worse still, letting him go!

Central midfield will kill his career quicker. If we are to accommodate RVP, Falcao in striking positions, We can use Rooney and Mata in the number 10 and wings. Rooney will be better playing from the left side than the right he played last night. Playing from the left will enable him to cut into the edge of the box to shoot his his right foot. It will also gradually bring back the best in him.

It is funny you are only just realizing this now... I kept trying to point this out during the Moyes' tenure; that we should take advantage of Rooney's "versatility" so that we would be able to use Kagawa/Mata more as #10 - but of course, as usual, you saw it as "Rooney-hating"!
