My thoughts on research while still in medical school; is it really necessary?

For those who are already into research, I found out a great AI powered research tool.

It wasn't funny, I was studying 10 hours per day and some times not sleeping at all.

Sembulingam vs Guyton.

I've been using guyton though, but I must confess ever since I checked sembu I've been having double mind, shey I no go port go semb.

Has anyone gotten a distinction with sembu or close to.
I think it depends on your school and what your lecturers are using to teach and grade your scripts.

Please I need advice.
I am an mbbs aspirants who scored 339 with 4B3 and 1 A1 currently running JUPEB in unilorin.
But I have an uncle telling me to pick Unilag. But I am scared due to the fact that Unilag mbbs cut off mark was around 86 in 2022,84 in 2023.
And I don't know what it might be in 2024 considering the fact that a lot of people scored 300+ this year.
Unilorin on the other hand has a very slow academic calendar to the extent that the 2023/2024 aspirants haven't been admitted.
I need advice because I don't want to waste 339 this year🙏🙏
Wow this is such a difficult decision to make. Well,,, I will say if you want to pick a SAFE option, you should stay where you are. The grass usually look greener on the other side until you cross over and find out you are wrong. (In this context, there is a possibility of being right; but of course, it's an uncertainty). The issue with this option is that I don't know much about Uniilorin admission process and if it is fair enough to admit you on merit if you meet the jupep cut off.

UNILAG on the other hand is still a good option if we are to be logical here. The risk is higher because of their cut off.

Fingers crossed though. Let's hear what others have to say about this; especially people familiar with the admission process of both schools. I would hate for this score to go to waste. embarassed

I remember visiting this thread when it was at page 97 around 2013 in SS2. I wrote my first JAMB 2014 in SS3 but didn't get the cut-off for medicine. Took another one in 2015, got medicine in BUK. Fast forward to today... I'm now a doctor waiting for the portal to open to start my house job. Dream, plan, work hard, and believe in yourself that it's possible.

My part 1 MB results are out.
I'm to resit anatomy and physiology, I can't believe my eyes truly.
More than 50% of my department failed physiology.
How is this even possible but nobody wants to take up the case with school management.

I feel my medical dreams are already over.
Please don't despair. This is not the time for that. Channel that emotion into strategizing for the resits. Sorry I'm not a motivational speaker so I can only give you practical tips to handle this.

Divide the number of topics by the number of weeks/months you have to prepare for the resits. Practice lots of questions, pray and do lots of group discussions with those resitting too. I wish you all the very best.

Alright, thank you. This means a lot to me.

We started Anatomy and physiology this semester. I don't seem to know how to read and grab these bulky course. I don't know if I'm already headed towards failure because I darn don't understand what I'm doing.
For details, you could check this playlist if you've not done so already. I talked in details about each of these courses and what is required of you to know.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvNNGto9P-QNtb_5AHQ0ohPWWEh09Bn3Q&si=yeuvq9PlqpYfCwsk

I don't know which of the anatomy and physiology courses you are offering, but in a nutshell, for Anatomy, you need to visualise a lot. That's why you need videos, atlas and pictures to help you understand better.
For physiology, studying the right material will help you understand better. YouTube videos can also explain difficult concepts to you.

Can a university graduate students without a teaching hospital?

I mean students of nursing, rad, MLS etc.

My school is currently using a specialist hospital for training students, the state government approved the usage of the hospital for my school but we don't have a teaching hospital of our own.

Can this condition prevent the students from graduation? The pioneer set are currently in 300l.
As far as a MOU have been signed between your School and the specialist hospital,,, and that specialist hospital meets the criteria of the accreditation body, you guys are good to go. Fear not. cheesy

Good afternoon. I am a final-year undergraduate student at a Nigerian university. I will graduate in about six months. I want to study Medicine and Surgery at KWASU afterwards.
Can I apply as a Direct Entry student through JAMB this year, even though I do not have my degree yet? Is it possible to use the "Awaiting Results" option?
Thank you.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Even if you "graduate" in 6 months, will your B.Sc. certificate or Statement of Result be ready in 6 months? If yes,,, then go ahead. But if no.... lipsrsealed

Anyway, fingers crossed smiley

Once again, congratulations, doc.

I'll advise you follow your senior colleagues closely. They're the best source of guidance...those in Year 2 in your school...meet them and find out how they maneuvred through your current class.

Start your work early, and be dedicated. Low times may come, true, but prepare for them and maintain your focus.

Be quick to ask questions whenever you're not sure about anything, be humble, very humble, in fact. Review your past questions, if possible, multiple times before your exams.

Above all, if you believe in God, hold Him closely.

Stay clean, please. Don't get involved in shady businesses.

May God perfect everything for you ajdnyoir colleagues.

You can send a mail, please. I'll respond once I see it.
Well said Doc! 100%
