I will try that. I am more interested in methodology. But I will get the open data. 68816419: |
I checked all the data. Leave Dangote aside - until it actually begins production. What is happening now is you produce about 1.5M tonnes (main factory seem to have opened around 2016) - you import about 0.8M and you export about 0.7M. Btw why all that Urea - In kenya and as far as I know - DAP (phosphorus) really is the main deal. 68816419: |
Now that mitigate some of it. So you've got a startling 30M hectares of arable land (no 9 worldwide) - with 1.5M tonnes of fertilizer - what is the per acre application of fertilizer(urea) again- and then you somehow beat all those countries - to become 4th largest agriculture produce in world - and yet nobody has ever seen a ship full of Nigeria food. Pick any of those countries - US, Brazil, Ukraine, Indonesia - even Kenya - there are thousands of ships now - with their food.In mitigation, you can claim the fact that nearly all 200M Nigerians are openly defecating on the land after a heavy meal of fufu, has produced one of the most successfully organically farmed agriculture. obaaderemi: |
You first tell us Nigeria methodology for Tomatos. Our milk industry is easy to measure. We have easily the largest herd of exotic cattle in Africa. Formally marketed milk delivered to processors already is 650M litres. 68816419: |
So Nigeria is the garden of Eden that doesn't require fertilizer despite the land being farmed for centuries now. Just Urea . I am telling you there are many approaches to finding out GDP. You've failed the input approach already.Kenya agriculture is world-class. That is how we managed to get 25B dollars from such a small arable land. obaaderemi: |
Only Ethiopia (whose gov goes to great length to hide) has about the same scale of ethnic strife in a supposedly peaceful nation. You cannot have 200m or 100M extremely poor people and avoid conflict. The conflict is basically a food fight. A resource fight. tylann: |
Okay I am going to respond from the underworld (or did I get to heaven already), it's very difficult to lie in this era of internet, and I'd be the last person to deny kenya has it's own issues. But compared to Nigeria, we are talking a walk in the park here. Don't deny the very obvious ethnic conflict in your country. Igbos have one leg outside if I am not wrong. obaaderemi: |
I guess you have nothing to say on Key Input - Fertilizer. Kenya formally marketed agriculture is about 5B dollars. That is already 20% of our agricultural GDP. I think about 3-4B dollars of that is exported - so very verifiable. We can go into how data is collected for the rest if you want. Again, not surprising, you and obaboon, have nothing to say about Nigeria agriculture application of UREA ![]() 68816419: |
Why would a dog grasp at the straws. A dog like you cannot drown in his own cesspool, he will happily swim in the cesspit that is Nigeria. A dog like you can also eat his vommit without much of a fuss. After 5,000 pages clearly there is very little we don't know about Nigeria. My friend start from Lagos - Yoruba & Igbos gang fights - where at it apex in elections. Yorubas were threatening to evict Igbos for daring vote opposition, who apparently are so hard-working they won properties in Yorubaland - they are not supposed to own. We know what Fulani has done to farmers - killing and displacing many. We know Nigeria has 8M internally displaced person in refugees camps being fed by UN. We know what North Hausa and related routinely does to Christians. In fact as early as 90s - we know and felt great sympathy for religious conflict in major Nigeria towns - where Muslims were killing and evicting christians. That kind of ethnic pogrom continues to this day. obaaderemi: |
I really appreciate that, my Naija broda. Self-deprecating humor is good for your psychological well-being, studies have shown. NigeriaIsDoomed: |
I was kinda expecting your inane, infantile & puerile response but if the emotional cunt Samrobo is your refuge - then I completely misjudged you.Samrobo is best ignored. The M'Naghten principle applies to him. He can actually kill someone and get away with it.Be very afraid of him. NigeriaIsDoomed: |
You're crazy. Fulani herdsmen are always killing other tribes up north. Igbos for many years have been clinically displaced from North Nigeria. Non-muslim Nigeria have been officially ejected from what 20 states? that adopted Sharia law. Igbos have seceded once and continue to nurse those ambitions. Tribal gang violence btw Igbo and Yorubas in Lagos is well known daily occurence. Even settlement in major cities of Nigeria are along tribal lines. Igbos bore a brunt during the election for daring to vote the opposition. In fact Nigeria is not different from Ethiopia when it come to internal strife. The difference is in Kenya we have very robust free media - with all big international organization HQ in Nairobi. Anything that happen in Kenya gets reported. And other difference we take action - we don't bury our head & hope the problem goes away. Post 2008 - we have done a lot to prevent future re-occurrence - ethnic hate in online forums or social media is nearly completely gone. You get picked by police if you write what your guys do here in Nairaland. Most importantly that 2008 pogrom gave us a new constitution with devolution. We are dealing with the twin problem of ethnicity and corruption head-on. You've so many problems you don't know where to start from. obaaderemi: |
Obaboon and 68, Let compare kenya and Nigeria - I don't want to shock you with likes of Indonesia consumption. Besides what all the UREA you're applying for? Rice? https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=https://africafertilizer.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Kenya-Fertilizer-Statistics-Overview-2017_EN.pdf&hl=en_US https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=https://africafertilizer.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Nigeria-Fertilizer-Statistics-Overview-2017_EN.pdf&hl=en_US |
There are many ways to validate or cross-reference data. Let's leave crop census for now. And focus on Fertilizer. The main ingredient in crop production. Let try the input approach - garbage in -garbage out. Apart from the huge tonnes of Urea your fertilizer consumption is terrible.68816419:

You see lying requires intelligence. Our well-known world acknowledged agriculture is worth 24-25B. Every Nigerian knows their agriculture long collapsed. It collapsed when Oil became the in-thing (only thing) and has yet to recover. But your Stat General Yemi Kale claims with a straight face it's worth 100B dollars. That should place it above Brazil whose ships are now in high seas exporting tonnes of food all over the world. Your agri GDP is also bigger than Indonesia with I think twice your land size and serious farming.Only India, China and US - are well larger than Nigeria agricluture - and you wonder why your 500B gorrilla GDP doesn't generate any ANY ANY revenues - and gov has to depend solely on OIL. Kenya agricluture generate about 20% of all gov revenues. The sector itslef is around 25%.OKay Lying requires Intelligence. Cross-verification continues. No serious farming can happen without FERTILIZERS. The more fertilizer the more crop production. Let examine your fertilizer consumption here. Remove the useless UREA and you total fertilizer consumption (both domestic production & imports) are about where Kenya is.obaaderemi:

obaaderemi:Very true.In Kenya you don't have to import technical stuff.kenya-Indians or Black or Blue Kenyan can get all local talent they need. The Kenya-Indians only have few Indians relatives handling finance...but in Nigeria, Dangote and every manufacturer ships equipments with shiploads of Indians. Now easily 1M in Nigeria. In Kenya you just ship equipment with drawings and you have enough local talent to fix it. What is the point of owning the factory when all key staff from general manager to technician are foreigners. Only the capital owners like Dangote benefits from all the Abuja protectionist policies. The rest of Nigerians unfortunate not to escape the zoo are getting poorer and poorer as Dangotes gets richer and richer running essentially Indian shops. Those 1m Indians don't have roots and repatriate their earnings..Kenya-India are like your Lebanese...5th generation investing like any citizen. |
obaaderemi:obstufication and subterfuge won't help.Last year you had 23b dollars federal budget based on unrealistic oil exports quantities and price projection.Youre one joke of a country. Now watch Kenya have double your budget then triple. In about 4-yrs our GDP will be 150B dollars and our budget 60B.In 10yrs our GDP will touch 300B dollars and our budget around where South Africa is..100B dollars. And there is nothing that can bring it down because it's on autopilot cruising. The beauty of having non commodity broad based well diversified non mineral economy and in investing in people (already Africa best human capital), infrastructure and social services. |
obaaderemi:Stock exchange is about half Dangote...and that is that..racial baiting won't work.I am too sophisticated for that. |
The elephant in the room 23B budget; the worse in world per capita spend; and you expect public investment in infrastructure. Not gonna happen. The most shocking - this is 23B dollars is their highest ever. Even Bill Gates told them for free - please raise your revenues - or you're going nowhere. Kenya will next year be 35B. Then 40B. Then maybe 50B. And then 60B by 2023 ![]() Jonraid: |
The reality is you oil-dependant country is going down - and kenya - that has broad-based well-diversified brand new 100B dollar economy - with 30B dollars budget - brand new budget is going up up and up. I tell you since they deported you - you won't even recognise most of Nairobi now. Lagos had better road infrastructure a few year ago than Nairobi - but now it's the opposite. You are struggling with 25B dollars budget to gather for 200M people in twice kenya land mass and we have large budget - with 4 times less population and twice less the land-mass (most of it really uninhabited).68816419: |
Federal budget - you state budgets are very minuscule - outside of Lagos. I know there is a crazy governor in Cross Rivers who doesn't know what budget is - but generally your states are indebted to the eyeballs - and have huge problems paying salaries - leave alone funding infrastructure. 68816419: |
With Nigeria miniscule budget that relies on dying oil - you got nothing on kenya. Mombasa - Moi airport, SGR and there is huge by-pass now in that section. https://i.imgur.com/WBO7g2K.jpg This was added. And we are adding 680M bridge over that sea and 2Km bridge starting this year. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D2MXX1BWwAAE9sC.jpg |
We have more budget than you.Why can't we not do more infrastructure. If we start counting fly over bridges in Kenya - dude - we will ran out of space. Before we get to other cities like Mombasa Thika road alone has like 20 Outering has like 10?; Southern By-pass has like 10: bla blaAnd we are just getting started. We are spending I think 4B dollars on infrastructure this year alone. BUDGET speaketh - when this thread started we had budget about 15B dollars - now it's double. By 2023/2024 - we would be spending 60B dollars - and then by then we would have bridge most of our infrastructure deficit - and will be aiming at south africa kind of infrastructure. 68816419: |
Nyahuru-Nakuru interchange.

We have many more - Kericho Interchange, Ahero Interchange - we have also dualized most of the main corridors. Basically we want minimal or zero disruption in the main highways - Nairobi - Malaba-Kampala - Nigeria Highway ![]() 68816419: |
Many under construction. 1) Maili Tisa Interchange - Eldoret - that is middle of maize farms.

So who is going to need fertilizer more? And yet their fertilizer use is still neck to neck with Nigeria's own per hectare use.He keeps mocking his country publicly.
Look at your elections and tribal violence. That's what we are saying. A country that burns babies after elections is a useless country. 2007 Kenya election violence records are there for all to see. Churches were even burnt with people and their children inside and you are here ranting like the mad man you are.
