You should try to compete with Uganda. If Nigeria cannot compete even with Kenya - how can your little zoo ever compete? Tanzania is too much for you little country - and Uganda I suspect is also on another level This one of the many private hostels - TALLER THAN ANY BUILDING IN GHANA https://constructionkenyashowcase.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Qwetu-Student-Residences.jpg https://victormatara.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Qwetu-Student-Hostels-Prices-2020.jpg Just30: |
There is no Ghanian company even worth 6B dollars...unless we include Ashanti Gold. Safaricom just invested 1B dollars in Ethiopia...in license fee alone...that is Ethiopia single largest FDI in history...and now real investment in building the network, staff and such is just started. Safaricom was awarded a license to operate in Ethiopia for USD 850 million spectrum fees and it disclosed that it will have a total of USD 8.5 billion investment in the coming ten years. That is just one company - in every sector - there hundrends of kenya companies - investing money in East and Central Africa - since 1990s. Only South Africa are better than Kenya. Just30: |
I was checking international schools around kilifi-malindi - coz I am interested in purchasing property there. Otherwise your underwhelming universities like everything Ghana cannot make anyone - not even Tanzania - envious. Just30: |
You're babies crawling - as early as late 90s - kenya companies were expanding regionally. https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/markets/kenya-overtakes-sa-as-biggest-investor-in-african-countries-2122218 Kenya overtook South Africa to become the biggest investor in other African countries in terms of the number of projects in 2015. Kenya invested in 36 projects last year in other parts of the continent against South Africa’s 33, a new study by financial consulting firm Ernst & Young shows. Just30: |

I was about to say the same - these are Yahoos! PROVERBZ: |
Last I checked Kenya cement consumption was 7.4M - and Nigeria was 18-20m. Total vehicles in kenya 4m - Nigeria 7-8m. Maybe I dont know how to do per capita anymore? obaaderemi:

So what went wrong? I think IMF SAP messed ups. In 1980, Kenya became one of the first countries to sign a Structural Adjustment Loan with the World Bank. Over the next two decades, reluctantly at first but with renewed commitment from the mid-1980s on, Kenya replaced the import-substitution policies it had pursued since independence with an open, liberalized trading regime. Tariffs were decreased, controls on imports were loosened, and the government encouraged trade through a series of exportpromotion platforms. Broadly speaking, Kenya’s trade liberalization experience was disappointing. Though the country enjoyed a few targeted successes in industries such as horticulture and apparel exports, overall Kenya’s trade liberalization policies had little impact and failed to deliver broad macroeconomic success. https://carnegieendowment.org/files/kenya_background.pdf kikuyu1: |
If the bigger Zoo nigeria cannot match Kenya - how do you hope repeating the same university will match kenya.? vankelvin: |
They should watch this documentary - Kenya in 1979 - a progressive, vibrant,capitalistic democracy - better than Ghana now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBZPuvyWhug Shma2020: |

By late 1970s Kenya's was really ahead of anything in Africa outside South Africa - Poor Ghana is aiming for Nairobi of the 80s. Kenya had grown by average of 7 percent since independent till then; Nairobi was one most developed city in black world; Kenya had positive trade balance; and was one of Africa most progressive nation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBZPuvyWhug |
Again without a link you're wasting your time. Nobody believe anything you say. Something close to this.. The most expensive - The Ridge -Average asking prices for this area was GHS 4.4m per plot (equivalent of $750,000 per plot or $3.8m an acre). This compares to Cantonments at $480,000, East Legon at $135,000 and Oyarifa at $14,000 per plot respectively. Just30: |

Yes that is Muthaiga. Land there is 3m dollars....so that rightly prized. Upperhill, CBD, Westland - land alone is 5-6m dollars on average. Just30: |
You did not get it. Muthaiga and such are expensive - not because the houses are huge - but by the fact that it's Muthaiga - the address. You definitely cannot fly a drone over it. Muthaiga - along the two public vehicles roads - you can get glimpse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3KzsvO_kn8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J527Pc-SiVk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojiuOZYTPbU&t=7s Just30: |

The top 10 cities/towns in Kenya. Great analysis by Africa Traveller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MjIXdsHhxM&t=22s |
The most expensive land in Nairobi is about exclusivity - so Muthaiga is 5kms from Nairobi city center- and it lies on Karua forest - yet it still single dweller. Its about the zoning. Knowing nobody would put a flat near you. It's about having facilities like golf clubs near you and all that. Security there is top notch. No public transport is allowed. No drones allowed. Everyone there has gun or guns. In addition to police protection...and entire estate is manned with top notch security. With Nairobi city - the least land is 1M dollars per acre - slums are illegally built in gov reserve land - Nairobi metro is cheaper. The areas where zoning laws do not allow high rises are expensive to be off market almost ...but as soon zoning allows...it increase in prizes and become highrises. People buy waiting for the day the zoning laws will be relaxed. Upperhill, Westland and Kilimani were recently single dweller unit. But the day they allowed high rises...it total changes in 10yrs. popizaino: |
This one is cheap - it's as old as Ghana university - just 3,000usd - this average price in Nairobi upper class - cover about half of Nairobi land https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IerrbiSMUhs&t=56s |
New Muthaiga - you can get an acre of land with house for 6.5m dollars. To rent a house here - prepare at least 10,000usd per month. This old swahili -arabic house will get you at 6,000usd per month in Muthaiga https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIo53Sz9cFY&t=65s |

What is average land price of Accra central cbd,Cantonments, Labone and the Airport Residential. Upper hill average is 5.5M dollars . This is okay because you can build as many floors as you can. The zone has no height restriction. The most expensive in Nairobi is Gigiri-Muthaiga - You cannot build two storeys - you can only build one unit in 1-2 acres - and land there is nearly 3 million. Only the super rich - old money - can afford land in Muthaiga. You cannot hear a musician or conman or who has gone to live in Muthaiga in Nairobi. Unless their parents own land there. Just imagine buying that land - and you can only put a single house in it - and not any taller than those trees https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dbmr9umSPs8 A house like this is 6.5M dollars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwnVsjMJPTA&t=11s popizaino:

If Meles Zenawi had been alive; yes; Ethiopia would definitely have overtaken Kenya. It's kinda like Rwanda; they have not built institution; If Kagame dies; they die; Like KaziKazi has been unable to get energy post Magufuli. Kenya is good because we are busy building institutions. Ghana and Zambia have very good institutions - the problem is they haven't re-configured their economy from communism and traditional institutions - to free market economy. kikuyu1: |
Kenya cant even be compared to Nigeria - how do we compare kenya with Ghana; Come on; Kenya is aiming for South Africa and Egypt - Algeria -maybe. We are on year from overtaking Morroco. Nigeria and Algeria economically are the same - I give Kenya 7yrs max before they overtake Algeria and Nigeria. The by 2030 - South Africa will be one sweating - and by 2035 - it will be Kenya versus Egypt. Appisko: |
Check Nairobi Land prices Westland, Upperhill, Kilimani - and such - 4-5M dollars per acre. Show me anywhere in accra is that even 200K USD . Too POOR.https://hassconsult.co.ke/real-estate/hass-index/13-the-hass-land-index?typ=2&layout=2 |
Quote one link showing land anywhere in Accra is even 500K usd ![]() There is reason why kenyans build vertical...why skyscrappers and tall buildings are built - coz land is so damn expensive - you can only buy at that price to building a 1000 units on an acre. Land is damn expensive. Who in your broke communist country ruled by traditional Kings afford even 1million dollars for land ![]() Just30: |
Madcow with a 2yr old stunted brain - if I said Upperhill was 100m per accre - you'd say Accra is 300M Upper hill compete with Sandton - not shitty Ghana accra without even basic sewage - as Africa richest square Kilometer. Do you 5m dollars per acre is like 1,250 per square meter in land alone - more expensive than most expensive cities in the world. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/real-estate/article/2001382305/where-an-acre-piece-of-land-goes-for-half-a-billion Ksh 551.8 million Upper Hill in Nairobi has been described as East Africa's richest square as an acre of land is selling at a huge sum of money Ksh 551.8 million. Upper Hill is currently the most expensive address to acquire land in the city. Shitty Accra is not even worth - 50kms from Nairobi - Land in Nairobi metro lowest is 1M dollars!! - Land in Upperhill, Westlands and upper class nairobi - like 1/2 nairobi - minimum is 3 million dollars. You cant buy an acre...that is why places like Muthaiga such where single dweller sits on 2 acres plus are for SUPER RICH...land alone per unit is 5-6m dollars. The average price of commercial land for sale in Accra is GH₵175,000 per acre. The most expensive commercial land costs GH₵250,000 per acre while the cheapest costs GH₵100,000 per acre Just30: |
