DerideGull: Where were you, a still-born maggot, when goons such as Fami Fani-Kayode and Olusegun Agagu were the ministers of aviation? These moronic dingbats were not only pitifully incompetent but publicly acclaimed corruptive characters.

Screwballs such as you and bloody ilk who knew nothing about basic denotation of the word-corruption had failed to hang the silly tag over Stella Oduah's neck. Now it seems noteworthy for jackasses to explore the lanes of incompetence. What a hammerhead.

[quote author=Chima_Agbalajob]What i LOVE so much about Princess Oduah is that she did not give in to blackmail and intimidation from a segment of the press. Although she was already a multimillionaire before she agree to serve under GEJ's government, if she had resigned out of anger or her ego, the faceless proponents of the media blackmail would have won and they will then be emboldened to continue to use that tactics against any public office holder who they didn't approve of.

PoliticsRe: Stella Oduah: The Travails Of A Hardworking Public Servant by Sagamite(m):
Sincere 9gerian: I have bad news for haters. Stella Oduah stays! There is nothing anybody can do about that.

Those who insist Stella Oduah should be sacked should ponder on the following:

1. How come there is suddenly billions of naira for the ministry of aviation to embark on the massive projects we can SEE at all the 22 Airports across the nation? Where was all these money going into in the last 2 decades that we SAW NO activity in the aviation sector?

2. The NASS did not approve any fund for Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the year 2013 but SEC has been running smoothly through its internally generated revenue. So if SEC can spend its internally generated revenue without NASS approval, why not NCAA? That notwithstanding, we now know that the NASS approved N240 million or so for NCAA to buy vehicles in 2013. We also know that NCAA has spent only about N52 million for the purchase of vehicles so far based on the funding arrangement with First Bank. The controversy now is that armoured cars was not expressly stated in the budget or that the procurement did not go through BPP or FEC.

3. What is the definition of corruption? How does the purchase of armoured cars amount to corruption? Does the breach of any law amount to corruption? Never! Corruption is used only when laws are breached to ensure personal gains. And as far as we know, all the vehicles bought by NCAA, FAAN, etc were bought in the name of the various organisations and NONE in the name of the minister. Also, the vehicles are meant for the operations of these agencies. So those who are in a hurry to nail the minister and crucify her should stop ABUSING the word "corruption".

4. Is there any proof that the cost of the 2 armoured was inflated? None. In fact, what we've seen so far are people desperate to nail the minister comparing the prices of apples and oranges.

In the conclusion, the minister of aviation may by guilty of administrative lapses or improper supervision as it concerns the purchase of those vehicles but she is NEVER guilty of corruption. If she is sacked today or tomorrow or she steps down anytime, she'll never go with vehicles bought or registered in the name of NCAA or FAAN. Oduah Stella is not synonymous with NCAA. NCAA armoured vehicles belongs to NCAA, not Oduah.
You are a person!

So a Minister with such, as you claimed, "administrative lapses or improper supervision" should stay and manage the, as you claimed, "billions of naira for the ministry of aviation to embark on the massive projects"?

You are a person!

So we should leave such an irresponsible person (whom you claim is not corrupt, just incompetent) to waste more billions by paying 4 times the true value of the projects?

CareerRe: Are Indian Bosses In Nigeria That Bad??? by Sagamite(m): 8:12am On Nov 11, 2013
AjanleKoko: Aha.
You're now right where we have been since the beginning of this thread. wink

An exaggerated sense of self-importance, a serious case of entitlement-mentality, and a total lack of vision. That's the problem of the Nigerian working-class.
Indians are merely good at working the system, wherever they find themselves. In fact, it's the crudest of the lot that find themselves in Nigeria on a regular basis. My LinkedIn inbox is perennially bombarded by Indian CVs.

Of course I have worked consistently with Indians over the last 15 years to not give a crap about them, or be particularly impressed with them. But we Nigerians are so bad at packaging and positioning ourselves, it's just pathetic. There's a fundamentally-flawed assumption that Nigerians are naturally talented and hardworking. Nothing could be further than the truth. The hustling mentality is way to pervasive, and will prevent much quality from emerging. In fact most times it is shyt that floats - tough-talking nuccas undecided

Let me even use Logica's stated area of specialization; software development. The very good companies or individuals are so few and so much in high demand, it is ridiculous. I once tried to hire someone and train the person in user interface design outside Nigeria, but the people I saw were more interested in the remuneration that whatever the job was about. Almost all candidates were entirely unsuitable, and many were unwilling.

I've had to resort to Indian or Eastern European companies for many development assignments.

So Nigerians should stop wailing about Indians or other employers. My dad used to say that, at some point in your career, you might find yourself working for the devil himself. Suck it up and learn from him is his recommendation, considering that since he's the devil, he obviously has something worth learning about, or some skill worth acquiring.
undecided

Worst breed of employees as I have frequently highlighted to clients: The unable and unwilling bunch.

The ones you gladly and unreservedly recommend for the sack or redundancy at the earliest opportunity except the can find, asap, a different function in the organisation they are more interested in and can do.

CareerRe: Are Indian Bosses In Nigeria That Bad??? by Sagamite(m):
logica: Aha, your history lesson is not complete. Most of the success and prosperity India currently enjoys today trace directly back to the PC and software boom of the 80s especially Microsoft, IBM and several other major players in the IT industry. They just so happened to discover they could recruit Indians to do several of these jobs and at lower costs. And they simply stuck to this tried and tested formula: "You need cheap technical labor? Go to India".

I can draw an analogy between this and a football club called Espanyol in Spain. They employed goalkeeper Thomas Nkono (a Cameroonian) in the 80s. Because of his performance, they then employed another Cameroonian goalkeeper (Idris Kameni) in 2004. They had found a formula. This kind of action is common in football and in fact other areas of human endeavor: Newcastle had found a formula in a (preferably tall) strong African lone striker, like Levante. "Tried and tested" is the watch word. Now if Espanyol had tried a Nigerian and he did well like Nkono, they would forever be searching for Nigerian goalkeepers. But does this prove the Cameroonian goalkeeper is superior to other African goalkeepers in general? I think not.

So yes, the Indians capitalized on the situation and turned it into an industry: making labor available to the US.
What absolutely clunking rubbish!

So you mean companies like IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle etc who would have elite students as corporate strategists do not do any assessment of all alternatives and just follow an historical trend?

They go and spend millions on setting up bases in Bangalore without any analysis of options and justification of selected option apart from "well we have used this one before and it did not fail"?

And you think, coincidentally, all these companies staff have a "group think"? They all became mumus that decided to all go to India without an assessment of benefit maximisation relative to costs? They just all mumuishly decided to stick with one country while countries like Nigeria were equally capable and do not have inferior IT professionals on average?

You clearly don't understand how strategic decisions are made and you are making an assumption.

My friend, serious assessments are done on issues like this. It is just not a scenario of some CEO and Directors sitting their arsses somewhere and pulling unreasoned executive decisions from their whims. Here is an example I gave earlier:

One more thing you forgot to mentioned is HEALTH CARE.....now, Nigerians are flying to India for medical treatment because we can't diagnose NOTHING, Madela never stepped out of South Africa for treatment but Nigerian politicians and their family flies out for dislocation of wrist.

dmcdad: In my earlier post I stated it categorically that there are good ones even though they are relatively few. Its good you know sex is a mutual thing, unlike the vast majority of ladies that think they are doing men a favour by having sex with em. Also, a very good number won't offer sex for nothing (by nothing of course you know I mean money), they would want some sought of financial gain for them to put their backs to the ground irrespective of whether they are in a relationship with the guy or not...

As for chasing a woman with some control tactics, if you relate with the topic with an open mind you would discover that these tactics ain't bad afterall. They are there to keep the ladies on their toes owing to the fact that women are hardwired to be controlled in a certain way. When I say control, I mean in a certain way, to keep their awkward attitudes at bay while also showing them the love and care they deserve.

A very good friend(married) told me an honest truth sometime ago. She said on no account should I allow a woman to have her ways as much as she needs. Else, no matter how good that woman is or was before then, she would more often than not take advantage of me and start misbehaving whether intentionally or not. This lady is a very good wife for the records. She told me this because she felt I was kinda soft in handling issues with her and letting her have her way (although I cleared her doubts pronto cause as much as I am very linient and kind in treating people, I am very principled to the core and don't tolerate trash from anyone).

In a nutshell, every woman (good or bad) needs to be guided with true control. True control in this case has a lot of positives when looked via a broad spectrum. If you look at it from a selfish or a bias standpoint, then negativity will be written all over it. True control is good as it helps the man to remain the dominant force between the two (which is normal by nature), but doing some of the aforementioned of true control to the extreme is where the problem lies as it will have a negative effect on the union.

Therefore, there should be a fine line between attaining true control in a sensible and reasonable state as opposed to taking it to the extreme and doing it awkwardly and unreasonably.
GBAM!

Any man that does not realise this has not reached a mental age that qualifies him for a coming-of-age ritual.

As I have always said, for an attractive girl you are not married to, if you let her feel/know she is unsackable, then you are basically on notice because you have lost her.

Some would "No, that is just rubbish. How can that even make sense" because it sounds so illogical. When you come of age, you will know the illogical is what actually works logically with women with a high number & variety of choices. Most men don't know this, that is why most men never date hot girls and some select few men have them in abundance.

dmcdad: My dear, the problem is that; both the men that instigate the approach and the ladies they approach know nothing about some pre-conceived feelings nowadays. A guy approaches a lady because he wants to sleep with her and a lady says yes to whatever proposals the guy brings to the fore because she knows she would be well rewarded financially. So, you can see that both sexes are guilty of going into relationships without the original or actual feeling or attraction so-to-say that should be there as a pre-requisite.

Nevertheless, there are still those that still do it the right way. The disturbing fact is; how many of these compared to the vast majority?

Yes, many men kissed the arsse of women because they have been systematically nurtured to think you are suppose to just respect women. They are called "Real Men". What does an average Nigerian man bring to the table apart from money?

I agree some women have entitlement mentality because they are 'women' which I completely frown at as I believe everyone should earn respect.

You will however agree that it's the default setting of the society: a man is respected because he is a man; a leader is respected because of his/her position. Don't be surprised Abacha had those who respected him.
I partially agree. Men are respected based on their status, achievement or position.

Not every man in society is respected. Actually majority are not respected.

In a courting interaction, a woman would not respect a man for purely being a man, she would respect him because of his status, achievement or position.

I don't yet understand the Abacha introduction.
