I believe this one too

But abeg, prolong am, please. That stats can never be correct. Unless you are quite quite young and all you have come to see and know is just recently. A lot of our folks left in the 70s, 80s and 90s, mostly grandparents now with generations of Americans being their offshoot, immigrant visas via parents, spouses, siblings, children, etc are still accounting for a good number of Nigerian moving to the US. There’s the F1 and H1B categories too....

B1/B2 Overstay used to be minimal till only just lately, maybe even less than 5 years now and actually spiked astronomically in the last 1-2 years! The way Nigeria is currently is contributing a whole lot to this mess, so many financially comfortable people exiting Nigeria just like that, it’s tiring and shameful.

Very true.

Imagine a Senior Manager in CBN selling off all his properties in a bid to relocate. He said he is scared about the future of his kids if they remain here.

All the marketers of a particular bank branch applied for interview at the same period, ALL!

The affairs of the nation needs an overhaul & it needs to be done urgently.

Yes that is very correct our image has been greatly damaged. And now is affecting worse the good.

But in all these our government has to look for any means to remedy and restore Nigerian image. It's really sad and hard being a Nigerian now especially when you are a law abiding individual.

I tell you.

There is hope.

This is really SAD and shocking to hear. Very very discouraging. Nigerians here are not helping matters at all. Now i see this was done intentionally because you cant be asking for stupid things when i provided you with Company Pay slips for 6 months stamped by your own Police. Well.. Na to start plan how to commot here sharply

Bro, if you have nothing of importance to do in Naija, avoid Naija or SA immigration.

That’s not to say some people aren’t having it easy tho’.

something like that once happened to me last year at OR Tambo airport , when I approached the immigration officer in the counter I gave him my passport and he checked and saw my relative spouse visa, he came out of the box and took me to a location and asked for a bribe. When I refused he started questioning me how did I obtain the visa and took me to one room where they keep people they will deport, before I was later cleared and allowed in. But what I understand is they are trying to reduce the number of Nigerians going into their country.

Matter of fact, I was asked for a bribe too. I clearly told him even if I had something to give, my currencies are in high denominations. He said to give him $100.

I muttered;” You will kill me first because you ain’t getting zilch from me”.

E go better.

Is the same thing we have been complaining here about.

But I think if they dont want Nigerias going to there country they should say it.

I have observed that it's a long term visa that they always do these. But they can say it boldly that they dont want Nigerians applying for long term visa to Sa. Atleast we will know.

They cant be frustrating people and making people to wast there hard earned money apply when they cant grant the visa.

I believe Nigeria dont even take a month to grant visa to them into Nigeria.

I only blam our leaders in Nigeria. No one even speaks for us. I can bet you if it where in Sa am sure they would have been marching and blocking the road in protest against these.

Yes I very well understand visa is a privilege and not a right. But I still believe people should be treated with respect and dignity. These is emotional, time and financial abuse.

You can imagin someone traveling all the way from eastern part of Nigeria just to submit application and later is denied.

I just hope one day someone can speak for us.

Meanwhile are there no human right in Nigeria who can look into these matter.

Because they should start refunding payments to the last kobo for every visa denied

It is no longer news that they don’t want Nigerians there anymore.

I met a guy at O.R Tambo Joburg, he said he came in 5days ago and was detained in their cell. They retrieved his PR for reasons he doesn’t understand. He got a lawyer for 2000 rands, eventually fined in court for 10000rands, booked a ticket back for 5000rands. He did not wash his body for 5 solid days.

The most touching is the number of Nigerians he met at the cell. He said these Nigerians are willing to come back but they want them to pay 10000 rands before release. There are some people who booked return flight for deportation more than twice & were still kept hostage making them miss their flight because of certain issues ranging from fines, inconclusive court decisions etc.

He begged for perfume to be sprayed on him because he was oozing which I had to give him.

It is getting worse, even our consulate over their don’t assist in circumstances of relevance.

They are ready to reduce, likewise USA, the number of Nigerians in their territory. Some Nigerians have battered our image and it is skin deep.

Thanks for the information.
I plan spending 6nights in SA and the hotel I found wants me to make a deposit for 2 nights before a confirmation letter will be sent to me. While the balance payment will be paid in cash upon arrival.
According to the Hotel the confirmation letter will state that a deposit of Rxxxxx has been paid for 6 nights.
Please will this arrangement work because I have where to stay for the remaining 4 days but I don't want to disclose to the immigration officer?
Or do you advise I make full payment here in 9ja?

Your plan to book for two nights should be fine.

You must have nothing less than 300-500 dollars at hand. If you don’t have, they won’t check you in until you buy at MMA.

A guy was begging because he had just 200 dollars for 5 days with cash in MasterCard though he booked his hotel already.

I don’t know when they started this level of scrutiny but be prepared.

I have my South African Visa already and I have paid for my flight booking through a third party platform (www.ajala.ng). Please will there be any issue raised at the port of entry for booking through a third party?

Also, I hope hotel booking with payment on arrival will not raise issues at the port of entry?

Chief, make sure you book & pay. They won’t allow you check-in in Nigeria. They verify anything verifiable at MMA.

I just passed through SA immigration about 1hr ago, they keep sidelining the young looking guys for reasons best known to them. I can’t even start typing the reasons ‘cuz I was able to confirm from some of them.

Know what you filled in your forms too.

Cheers!

wrong advice....

What’s your take??

Have you ever been in a distant relationship??...or perhaps your present woman gets a juicy job offer in another country, you really think you both can stand the test of time??

Romance / Re: I Caught My Fiancée Cheating by Sage7(m): 11:17pm On May 18, 2019
There’s a likelihood for cheating to occur in distant relationships.

You can’t really judge. Even the OP must have cheated too.

Humans are bound to fall & fail in such relationships, especially when you’re not married.

The one who has sworn not to cheat or never cheated has not done so because more than half the time they’ve not found themselves in circumstances that warrants cheating.

You can’t judge nobody, except there is a ring on it.

For your sanity, try everything to take her to Netherlands if you eventually walk down the aisle with her. The devil you know is....

If you leave am, na man like you go still marry am.

Try another relationship & travel again, same thing will happen. The distance is the problem.

If you have properties like Timaya, do not engage a cleaner for 10k.

The ambience would make him/her have a rethink.

Even if the cleaner doesn’t have bad intentions, overtime, greed would make him think of carting away with valuable items.

Good day everyone. Our visa was rejected after a 221G interview today. We are a family of 4, I, wiffy and two children and we have visited the US on vacation twice. Although i stayed for close to 5 months during my first visit while wife and children returned to Nigeria after their 3 weeks vacation due to her work and children schooling. I have my private job and have the luxury of time to myself.

We initially applied through drop box after which we received a 221g scheduled interview. Eventually we got a refusal based on strong ties as stated although I was specifically questioned on why I stayed for 5 months in the US in 2017, which I explained and that I have visited the US again after that spending less than three weeks. I was the only one that stayed for 5 months, my wife and the children spent less than 3 weeks each in their two different visits to the US and came back.

During the interview, I was interrogated on the stay, although my wife was not questioned after which the consular refused everyone without judging us differently.
Please house, kindly advise me on what to do as this is a painful experience especially for my little children. I am thinking of reapplying, should i reapply alone, or should my wife and the children reapply first, or we should all reapply together again? Please i need your various views and advise on this. Thank you
Thank you.

I know a 70-yr-old church member that overstayed because she was ill & not fit to travel. All attempts to renew till now is futile.

They hate situations like that. It’s particularly sad it affected your wife & kids.

What can be done?? Not that I know of. We await the elders of this forum.

GOOD DAY HOUSE!!!!

I re-applied on Monday 6th May for a Visit to South Africa - Religious Conference slated for July 8 - July 16.

I was denied this same visa last month on the ground that “EVENT DATE HAS PASSED”... But that was my first experience and the distance then between my travel date & application date was just 3 weeks.

But now, this is my second attempt and with an 8 weeks interval.
Submission Date: May 6
Travel Date: July 8.

HOUSE, what do you think? DO YOU FEEL THE TIME FRAME IS ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET APPROVED. Thank you!

You gave them ample time this period.

Be hopeful bro!

If you were not so smooth with your response & sounded unsure, they might doubt the information you gave them.

Be positive still.... nothing is certain or uncertain in this part of the world.
