Career › Re: Why You Should Learn A Skill In Nigeria by sageb: 3:08pm On Jul 16, 2022 |
CaveAdullam: 1. Sometimes when you all start announcing the term "learn a skill" I do wonder if you all think learning a skill is just as easy as the air you breathe.
2. You need to pay for an apprenticeship before learning any physical skill. Even as you are learning, you need to feed at least twice daily. You need to pay for transport. These are basic needs. But you all never consider this. In your minds, these youths are lazy, they don't have the power of positive thinking, and they can't think and grow rich.
3. Digital skills requires a laptop. At least one needs a 100k flat to consider buying a fairly used one. Where is the learner going to see this money? What about data, how is he going to sort himself out? What about electricity, how is he going to cope when it is glaring that the power supply in Nigeria is more epileptic than epilepsy.
4. We should not even talk about getting your first job or customer in a third-world nation... let's wait till you learn a skill.
5. It is so unfortunate that in a country like Nigeria, the only means of survival as it currently stands is through the internet either for a positive or negative purpose. We have not even considered the IQ of the Black nation, knowing fully well that their IQ is below average (85/100). Yes, you can beat it and succeed in science or computer science, but how many will be consistent, persistent, patient, and determined to overcome that phase. It's just like convincing a snail to reach the finish line in a race with hares, antelopes, and wild cats.
It is not easy to perform a job that is beyond your physical and intellectual ability. You must go the extra mile. But what's the guarantee?
6. What about the jobless and underemployed graduates? These sets of humans worked their lives in gaining a degree...or, do you all think spending 4 - 13 years in a higher academic institution is a joke?
7. It is so easy to say go learn a skill when you forgot to consider those who helped you behind the scene. During your go "learn a skill" seminar you never consider these people and the sheer luck that shone upon you. Or, do you think all humans have the same opportunity?
8. Learning a skill is not bad. Nigeria/Africa has left for the gutters, sinking and wallowing in bribery, corruption, poverty, inept leaders, insecurity, social vices, and other evils you can think of.
And as a result, learning a skill becomes paramount.
9. But what I want you all to take note of especially those motivational speakers that hide behind various forms of crime with a saintly look should know that before learning a skill, an individual basic needs must be met. They include food, shelter, clothing, security, electricity, good road, and data. If these things are not provided it will take grace for a few to scale through, and that's why many that started learning a skill never made it to the finish line. You all should give these people a break, please.
10. Before learning a skill you just need to undergo therapy because depression and suicidal thoughts are real.
11. Alright. Since we can't easily savage the situation on the ground, we will endeavor to learn a skill with the hope of success.
Stay aloof from crime. I know. I understand. But just try. We must survive.
Thanks. You understand the matter so well. correct analysis |

Here we go:
Way back then in 2018 when i was broke, one of my uncle's tenants gave me 30k to give to my uncle for rent. I used 22k out of that cash to play 3 odds.
Hungary vs Australia &over 2.5 - 2.60
Cork city vs a team i can't remember over 1.5 -1.40
The Hungary Australia game goals started coming in after 70 minutes. Infact, the last goal was scored at 90+. You can imagine what i went through checking livescores. At the end i won 82k.
I gave my uncle his 30k, then he gave me 2k which i didn't accept. Told him not to mind.
It didn't just stop there.
After buying a phone and some clothes with my winnings, i decided to push my luck with the remainder which was 20k by playing another 3 odds from the world cup games.
Belgium vs Panama - 1x & over 2.5 - 1.70 All three goals from Belgium came in the second half.
England vs Tunisia - Over 2.5 - 2.20 It played, but the last goal came in the 93rd minutes - a last minute header from Harry Kane. I eventually won another 82k.
You can see what I went through emotionally and psychologically just to win that cash. I'm not proud of myself. What if it didn't work out? I was just lucky. And i don't gamble anymore. joywendy: Mental health is very paramount to you as an individual, with the recent crisis going on in Nigeria. It can be hard to stay sane.

Excober08: "I Met My Engineering Classmate Riding Keke Five Years After Graduation"
Dayo and Rukayat Studied Engineering at a University in kwara State. They were both Classmates and after Five years of Studying hard, they both graduated. After graduation, Fate took them through different paths of life.
5 Years later, Rukayat after much frustration of securing a job, ended up as a Secretary in a Building firm earning 50,000 Naira monthly.
Meanwhile, Dayo on the other hand, couldn't Secure a Job and ended up a Taxi Driver, He makes At least 5,000 daily and if he works for only 20 days in a month, He makes 100,000 Naira that month.
One Evening, Rukayat closed from work and was at the bus stop waiting for taxi when Dayo stopped. She hopped in when she discovered the taxi was going her way but little did she know it was Dayo. All through the journey, she was lost in her Phone.
She reached her bus Stop and after alighting, just when she was about paying, she took a look at the driver and their eyes met, wow! They were both happy.
"Is this you?" they both asked themselves simultaneously as if they planned it. Rukayat gave him money but Dayo insisted she keep it. He was happy to see her and for old time sake, he left the money for her even when she insisted that she wanted to pay. They both exchanged contact and left.
Well, Rukayat went home that night and was lost in thought. Not as if Dayo was looking bad but Dayo driving Taxi? She couldn't wrap her head around it. She Pitied him. Felt Sorry for him. If Dayo had allowed her she would have paid him and beg him to keep the change.
Little did she know that, Dayo actually has another Taxi running for him, He is a Land owner and he is planning on developing it soon. But because he was driving a Taxi, She felt Pity for him.
On the other hand, Dayo felt sorry for himself too. Before he slept that night, he remembered Rukayat, how neatly she dressed and nice she smells, "She must be earning over 300,000 Naira per month" he said to himself. He felt ashamed, He felt like a failure and he felt she was way ahead of him financially and otherwise.
Little did he know that, If Rukayat removes the transportation fare and feeding money from her monthly salary, it will take her at least 3 Months to earn what he earns monthly.
Sadly, this could be some of our reality, you measure your progress and success with that of your friends, Classmates and Relatives even with very limited information you have about them.
You think yours is worse because you look dirtier, you think yours is worse because you are not on Corporate wears, you think yours is worse because the other person acts and looks Nicer.
Stay Focused and Face your life. It's not a competition. Stop Comparing things, you don't have the full picture. Every one is running on his own lane. Be contented.
Be focused. life lessons |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My First Major Job Interview In Germany (true Life Story) by sageb: 11:00am On Jul 07, 2022 |
monkmike: That was me 4 years ago – after landing my first major job in Germany. And in no time I was travelling around Europe..... until the next opportunity came.... and then next, and the next....
I look fresh there, it was about a year after my postgraduate studies (M.Sc. Infection Biology, University of Lübeck). When I received the invite to the interview, I was super excited; positive, enthusiastic, confident……… and all optimistic feelings you can think about. I have had interviews before then, but they were all virtual, this was going to be the first physical interview.
You must have heard/read that you can work in Germany without the German language; that's true, so read on.
The job post was in English; Company’s website: in English; no option to even change it to German or other languages. My job application was sent in English; First feedback to the application sent in English; Invitation to interview was sent by the company in English! Wow! What more could I ask for? Although I could speak some German then, but having a job interview in English was way much better for me.
I could not ask for more – on top of the above, the offer was in Munich – one of the highest paying cities in Germany. Even if you will probably spend most of it on house rent and perhaps groceries, Munich is a beautiful city to leave in, so it’d all be good anyway.
I was so sure of getting the job and was already making accommodation plans. I prepared in the best ways possible – at least, I thought and rehearsed my speeches and possible answers to potential questions a million times. Since the interview would be in English (logically it should), I was confident in myself – actually, I was overconfident.
Anyways, just in case I had to talk to someone at the reception, I pocketed precisely enough German to get me across to the interview room (I thought to myself… lol ?). Well, things started changing slowly when I arrived a bit too early – 20 minutes before the time and was informed (by one of the interviewers, in German), to go and hang around for a while and come back just shortly before the interview time: Welcome to Germany – the land of precision! Being late is not accepted, coming too early praised is neither accepted.
I came back right in time as was asked to. To show good manners, I exchanged greetings with the interviewers (two of them) in German, hoping that’d be it (my pocketed German was already running out!!??). The first interviewer proceeded to introduce himself, and then the second, and then I did – all in German. And I thought to myself, ‘when will the real interview begin?’
The real interview continued as the first person started describing the company. I had to interrupt, to ask if the language of the interview is German: ‘Oh yes, it is. Didn’t you know that?’ He asked. I was like, ‘no! I did not expect it at all………’ I explained how every step so far in the application process was in English until now. The first tension in the meeting ensued – I was caught off guard and I started sweating in my nice suit! Lol, ? I laugh about it today, but not then.
To cut a long story short, we had some arguments on which language to interview in. Of course, they understood my points but wouldn’t accept it since it is a German company and most of the colleagues in the laboratory are native German speakers – there was hardly a chance that I would work in English. I should have thought about that earlier. In the end, we had a compromise – the interview was conducted in Denglisch! Heard that before?
That experience taught me that, you could never be over-prepared for anything. When you are taken by surprise and feel disappointed, let it be a lesson that’d propel you to the next level. I learned my lessons that day and sent all subsequent applications in German ONLY – thanks to the good friends that supported me then. If the communication turned out to be in English, that’s several pluses for me!
Amongst other things to learn, I sure did learn the following:
Be open to changes and if one way does not work, try another You could never be too prepared – look deeper than the logical procedures Prepare for the worst. If things go all Gucci, then you can call it luck! Join an active study abroad community, ask questions and make meaningful contributions. Keep expanding your network of professional friends, especially those abroad; you need them for their experience.
What experience have you had attending job interviews abroad?
Or do you have questions on how to prepare for a job interview abroad?
Share your thoughts/questions. Nice write up |

There are still other errors like the concept of denominationalism with one senior head and branches, use of musical instruments in worship, sprinkling of water for baptism instead of full immersion, creating titles like Reverend, General Overseer, Archbishop etc, confusing the post of an evangelist with a Pastor, appointing those who have not met the qualities of an Elder/Pastor as a Pastor and having a single pastor leading a congregration instead of having 2 or more among many other errors still in place.

The stars from Brazil's 2002 World Cup winning team reunited on Thursday, June 30, 2022 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their achievement.
Brazil led by manager Luis Felipe Scolari defeated Germany 2-0, courtesy a Ronaldo brace, on June 30, 2002, to win the country's fifth FIFA World Cup in Japan/Korea.
Several of the stars from that team, including Ronaldo and Rivaldo were spotted in a photo posted on Twitter celebrating the anniversary of their success.
Ronaldo was the star of the 2002 World Cup, scoring eight goals to lead the South American powerhouse to victory.
His strike partner Rivaldo, played an equally important role while a young Ronaldinho was the revelation of the tournament.
The five times world champions are yet to make it to the final of the World Cup since 2002 and will be hoping to reclaim that glory in Qatar 2022.
