Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did You Choose Your Current Church? by sageb: 5:38pm On Nov 08, 2021 |
MaxInDHouse: When Jesus started this religion in the first century many people including the leaders and religious title chiefs in Israel began criticizing Jesus until Jesus and his group were labelled as insanes to be vilified in the society {John 9:22; 10:20} so whoever accepts Jesus' line of thought must be prepared to face the society that's why Jesus told his followers they must be prepared to bear whatever it will cost them to be his followers! Matthew 16:24
Peter (one of his closest confidants) asked him a question and Jesus' reply became something i keep meditating upon for years:
Peter began to say to him: “Look! We have left all things and followed you.” Jesus said: “Truly I say to you, no one has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the good news who will not get 100 times more now in this period of time—houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the coming system of things, everlasting life. Mark 10:28-30
Everlasting life has been God's promise for the righteous long before Jesus' arrival {Psalms 37:29} so all Israelites believe that if they are found to be righteous before God everlasting life is certain, but since no one has gotten it there must be something that righteous ones should possess now to assure them that they're truly on the road to everlasting life {Matthew 7:13-14} so Peter's question was appropriate.
Now let's consider Jesus' reply! Before mentioning "everlasting life" which all Israelites were familiar with Jesus told Peter that anyone who has left friends and families to become his disciple will gain hundred times what they lost (with persecution)
This statement keeps ringing in my mind ever since i read it, so i began asking myself: Where is the group Jesus talked about today? Which group do people generally vilify most? Which group can one join as a worshiper of God then gain countless family of faith?
Jesus said they will have the same line of thought {John 17:20-23} they will be hated by all people {Matthew 10:22} many will call them a cult {Matthew 10:25} but then everyone will keep saying this group have love among themselves! John 13:34-35
So i keep watching out for this group but i was looking for the right thing in the wrong place because back then i was a Muslim and i love to read Jesus' words since the Qur'an confirmed that Jesus is the Al-misil {Messiah or Christ or Saviour) i keep searching for a Muslim group that's fitting with Jesus' description but there is none! One day i met Jehovah's Witnesses they also claim Christians so i wanted to make jest of them as i believe those claiming Christians have derailed by rejecting the last prophet (Muhammad) Then i received the greatest shock of my life! Everything this people believe is exactly what Jesus taught about his group. The most surprising thing about this group is the way they so much treasure their organization in their hearts. So i asked one of them "what is the reason why you people so much believe in this your organization to the point that you're prepared to forgo anything just to remain in this organization?" This man now quoted Jesus' comments that i have always long to decipher {Mark 10:28-30} but this time he Interpreted it to the point that i began shedding tears of joy that i finally found Jesus' group! He asked me what i think about getting hundred times of families and friends, i told him i've been wondering how possible is that since Jesus made such a reply to Peter over the loss of families and friends, where can one get that? Then he asked me what i think about a global family of peace loving worshipers that everyone knows how much they love to care for their members even when they've never seen one another before but just because of being members of the same religion. So he said "many people find it really hard to cope with this organization but they knew that there's no assurance of getting what Jesus promised if they're no more having the global family Jesus promised, that's why they're ready to live and die as members of Jesus' promised family of countless brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, children and homes"
That's why I'm fully convinced that i now have what Jesus promised his faithful disciples: the organization of believers that treats one another better than worldly families! which organization is that? |

FalseProphet1: Just be faithful in your tithes, that's all that matters to the pastor in this Buhari era, joing group isn't so important cos if you don't join another person will, but if you don't pay your tithes, the monthly target reduces and the pastor might loose his job.
This I have seen. hahahaha E choke |

nedzuby: I questioned a lot of things but I decided to find answers within so one day I stumbled on Pastor Poji Oyemade insights of living in 2006.
I was carried away with the way he answered all my questions in according to how I was able to answer them within that I forgot to get his name, time of the program and the church name. I spent 3 months searching asking who is this Pastor, what church does he pastor and what time STV should it.
I eventually stumbled on him again, this time I searched online for him and his church. I found the church website and downloaded a lot of his messages I just couldn’t get enough. In fact I started going to the office early to watch the 6:30am preaching on STV and it was not until 2008 that I attended my first service at the Victoria Island center.
Even if I don’t attend the physical church I either watch it on YouTube or listened to the audio service in Mixlr. Though I have been outside Lagos for over 10 months now I still listen to him and I was so glad to see on Facebook that Covenant Christian Center is coming to Port Harcourt that I have to register.
My reason for joining Covenant Is because Pastor Poju Oyemade preaches Practical sermon and his humility is out of this world. Where is the church located in port Harcourt? Post the address |

HardMirror: some days ago, a friend of mine told me his story and how he lost his mum some 7 years ago. His mum was the breadwinner of the family. While returning from one of her business trips, she had an accident just a few minutes to her destination. everyone in involved died. she survived only to later die in the hospital. When he went to see her corpse, there was tears on her eyes, down her cheeks. the doctor said she died crying and kept saying who would take care of her children....
lets use these opportunity to remember those who lost their lives while trying to make things better for themselves and their loved ones. Toast to the ones that we lost on the way The drinks brings back the memories, the memories bring back, the memories bring back you. |

wink2015: This should be a major challenge to GOVERNOR IFEANYI OKOWA the so called DELTA STATE ROAD MASTER.
He is no where to be found in all this ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRIALIZATION that are taking place in other parts of Nigeria.
THERE IS NO BREWERY, CAR INDUSTRY, OR OTHER BIG COMPANIES THAT ONE CAN FIND IN LAGOS IN DELTA STATE.
Urhobo politicians are busy in Asaba collecting from Delta state government, money, state and federal appointments and other big big position while the rest part of the state in the south remain largely under-developed and less progressive. Deltans need to get it right in 2023. Which zone do you think deserve to produce the next Governor? Delta central or Delta South? Candidates are emerging from both zones. |

People in business, what has been your experience with apprentices? Succintly said Kwin Pocohantas The get-rich quick syndrome by adolescents/youths of nowadays have led to the decline of the apprenticeship scheme. Another reason is lack of sponsorship of skills acquisition programmes by those in power/position of authority. |
