As I get older, I am beginning to realize beauty is but just one part of the whole package. I spend less time making up, that is if I do at all. Nicklaus619: Good day Nairalanders. So I saw a thread that hit front page about ways of getting new jobs and I remembered this my personal experience and decided to share
I remembered applying for work at the federal Inland Revenue service here in Abuja, immediately after my service by the way i studied economics , so names was shortlisted for interview, we wrote the test and out of 15,000 candidates, though exams was scheduled separate days because of number of applicants , 50 was successfull and was short listed boom I checked and my name was number 18, my joy knew no bound, I didn't tell anyone as I wanted to take my people by surprise including my parents and siblings. after that interview, they invited us for an oral interview.
I attended the interview and after the interview, 35 name was successful, I checked boom my name was number 12 on the list, After the interview, we where all given breakdown of how the salary was like, omo, I see money tears dropped from my eyes, I was anticipating how to renovate my family house after working like for 6 months and changing my parents car as it was well deserved,
After the interview we where waiting for a mail to confirm our employment letter and posting, after waiting for 2 weeks no news, I went to the headquarters were we did our interview and was reliably informed that new recruit had resume work since, I made further inquiry and I was made to understand that the final interview was done on Sunday, and our names were replaced with people that lobbied, I shouted, on Sunday, ?? Government work?? And we where never informed and minimum of 7million naira was used to swap our names with the people that paid.
I find cry, I no see, I was depressed for almost 2 months, my babe will come and see me emantiating by the day as I refuse to eat, this girl will come to my house and cry from Morning till night begging me to eat, chai true love they shaa, love really shark her that year, but I bounced back to my feet and moved on. And thank God, I am doing well for myself, and I pray that the Lord continues to shower me and everyone that refuse to give up blessings in abundance.
Most times when you see people contemplating suicide on the media, don't use it as a joke, encourage them not to commit suicide if u must comment, because most people vent their frustrations on the media waiting for validation, and believe me they do take anything said to them to heart 100%, unlike other people out there, I never contemplated suicide because I know I have got a thick skin and can survive the street, one of the advantages of being street smart, e never get wetin eye never see, so trolling and name calling and shaming on the internet don't move people like me, learn how to develop a thick skin in every situation like this. Most importantly don't ever wait for media validation in your personal life, what the media says don't mean nothing and won't affect you in anyway, know this and know peace
I hope someone learnt one or two things from my story. This country shaa Corruption everywhere |

bloomstories: Nigerian model, Favour who fought for admission for 6 years rolls out red carpet as she graduates
A Nigerian model and beauty queen, Favour Umeike who fought for university admission has rolled out the red carpet in celebration as she finally graduates.
Queen Favour Umeike who is the reigning Most Beautiful Model In Nigeria graduated from Biology department of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt Rivers State.
The gender advocate who could not hide her joy took to the social media to express gratitude to God for an academic journey that ended successfully.
She wrote, "Certified Graduate "B.Sc.Ed Biology bagged☑☑☑ "2nd graduate of Benjamin's family "All thanks to God "Dad and mum, I'm forever grateful "6 yrs of Admission Fight + 4 yrs of His grace in school= 10yrs product of greatness"
She has since flooded her social media pages with pictures of her and friends engage in celebration galore after her final exams.
She is expected to participate in the mandatory one year national youth service.
Recall that thousands of admission seekers have in recent times been frustrated with unfavourable policies of government in education sector, making it difficult for such candidates to secure admission immediately after their secondary education.
Apart from multiple tests they are subjected to after JAMB, the issue of region remains a determinant factor before students are offered admission to the higher institution.
With the recent introduction of National Identity Number, NIN as a compulsory requirement for admission seekers who wish to sit for JAMB exams, there are speculations that many, especially in the rural communities will be schemed out, a development that may truncate their dreams.

Efewestern: Not all Urhobos were of Bini Origin, no ethnic group as big as Urhobo can claim they had a single ancestors. Some urhobo clans had a mixture of Ijaw ancestors, especially those around the Ughelli axis. I made a post about this yesterday.
Several Ijaw clans also had Urhobo ancestors, like the Kiagbodo people. Even the Epie people in Bayelsa were of Urhobo/Edo origin. Migration of people back then was just so inevitable.
So yes, the OP was partially correct.
Cc: SlayerForever Edwin clark is Ijaw but some of his people speak urhobo language. I realize the interrelatedness of Urbohos and Ijaws when I took a shuttle from otuvwodo in Ughelli to kiagbodo. Secondly, Ughelli is very close to patani, an Ijaw LGA. Even in Bayelsa, there are Urhobo and Isoko speaking communities in Sagbama. |

effico: *10 SHOCKING BIBLE VERSES ABOUT ‘YAHOO YAHOO’, FRAUD, PONZI SCHEME AND DISHONEST WAY OF GETTING MONEY*
1.*Jeremiah 17:11* The person who gets money dishonestly is like a bird that hatches eggs it didn’t lay. In the prime of life he will lose his riches, and in the end he is nothing but a fool.
2. *Proverbs 20:17* Food gained by fraud tastes sweet, but one ends up with a mouth full of gravel.
3. *Proverbs 13:11* Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.
4. *Leviticus 19:13* Do not defraud or rob your neighbour. “‘Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.
5. *Proverbs 28:22* Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.
6. *1 Timothy 6:9-10* But people who want to get rich keep toppling into temptation and are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires that plunge them into destruction and ruin.
Verse 10: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, in their eagerness to get rich, have wandered away from the faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.
7. *Micah 2:1-3* Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance. Therefore, the LORD says: “I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.
8. *Proverbs 10:2* Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.
9. *Proverbs 16:8* It is better to have a little, honestly earned, than to have a large income, dishonestly gained.
10. *Ephesians 4:28* Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Perez99: Good day nairalanders. I will make it very brief. Please I need your advice. I've been a nairalander since 2016 but this is my first official post.
My father is a good, noble and humble man. A successful business man. He's very proud of us (his children), we're also proud of him. We're 3. I'm 29 years of age, the eldest and only son. He make sure we don't lack anything. We all went to one of the prestigious Private University in Nigeria. I and my immediate baby sis are graduate, while last born still in 300l.
The problem is that, my father don't know how to dress, he prefer to wear faded and worn out clothes. My dad drive highlander 2014 model. If my Dad comes down from his car, you will think he's a driver to an imaginary Boss because of the way he dressed. Blessed memories of my beloved mom May her soul R.I.P. She was always complaining and sometimes my Dad won't listen to her.
I'm a good fashion designer, my love for fashion is topnotch. I also own a laundry store and a barbing store. I've been privileged to sew some clothes for comedian Buchi which he loves so much and he promised to patronize me again.
GOD in heaven knows how many lovely, mature and soft dress I've sew and bought for my father with my money. He only wears it once and won't wear it again, there are some he haven't put on at all. He celebrated his birthday August, I bought this nice shirt 18k for him as a gift. Till today he hasn't put it on.
Please note: money is not his problem. The other day he stopped by at my store, I and my boys were working. He noticed nobody was using one of my industrial machines. He asked and I said it was faulty. He said how much? I said 170k but I'll change it soon before January....(because I just wrapped my car from corolla to ES Lexus)....Before I could say Jack... Baba don send me 200k. I ordered the machine instantly.
See what happened this morning, He got an invitation to attend a meeting. The smartest way to dress for a highly regarded man like him is native wear. So he gave me this faded black trouser turning white to brush for him, that he wanted to wear it for the meeting...See eh, It was so annoying. I went to his room gathered the nice, starched and ironed native I could gather and I told him to select one, that I won't brush that faded trouser. He started saying ... " I'm proving stubborn and all manner things"... I'm sure our tenants could hear our argument.
Please Nairalanders. What can I do to make my Dad dress well. I plan to set fire on those faded and worn out clothes but it will look so disrespectful. I'm sure his friends have accepted his mode of dressing. My siblings and I are tired of complaining.
Please I need an advice!!! Your father is not complaining He has the money to buy any Clothe he likes He prefers modest dressing Why are you bothered? Abi you want your father to be awon Dino Melaye. In Dino Melaye's voice " I wore Gucci, up to down, even my pant is gucci". |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What I Did Yesterday After I Lost My Last N200 During Interview by sageb: 10:48pm On Nov 19, 2021 |
PlanToSucceed: Like a motivational speaker would say, "the issue is not the problem you are facing but the solution you can think of".
Yesterday was a tough day for me but as a full blooded naija man exposed to hard life from childhood, I immediately found a solution for the problem.
Let me make it brief.
While I'm working hard so to get a job and beat poverty, I'm also praying fervently for God's mercy in my life because a single fame from Him can bury all the years of shame.
I'm seriously in need of a job and so I applied for a vacancy I was in the know. I was called for interview yesterday. The transport fare wasn't even enough but I managed to gather what could take me to and fro. Dressed in corporate, I went. All I had with me was N800 including my feeding. So I spent N400 for food, paid tfare N200 to get to the venue and N200 left for my fro. How the remaining N200 lost in my pocket, I can't tell till now. Can't even tell if a fellow applicant pilfered me.
After the interview, that was when I realized I was without a penny. I searched everything to find the missing N200 but to no avail. I almost cried because of how important the money was (pray against every spirit of poverty). Having not seen,
I approached the first two guys for help but they shunned me. Naturally I don't like begging. I prefer to die in silence than begging openly cos I feel very bad if turned down. After the first two guys snubbed me, as a true Nigerian and full blooded 'kpako', and sportive in appearance, something struck me. Immediately, I folded my trouser upward and to add comic to it, I left the tie still on my neck and in no time, I was on the road jogging and heading back home at around 2-3 pm with my file in my hands.
People were looking and in surprise over the unusual jogging dress. That was how I jogged on major roads and short cuts till I reached house. I can't really quantify the total distance but it is something over 10km. As I reached house, I freshened up immediately even though nothing to eat, I found Garri and sipped. Life goes on!
My prayer: may I make it in this life, Amen.
People, in all you do, work hard and pray against poverty. It is not something to wish even your worst enemy.
Meanwhile, the interview ended on 'we'll get back to you". I'm still waiting for them.
Thank you for reading. Quite inspiring May God grant you your heart desires. |
