Foreign Affairs / Re: Man Stabs 22 Children At Chinese Elementary School by SAGirl: 9:26am On Dec 18, 2012
Chini: BEIJING (AP) — A man wielding a knife wounded 22 children and one adult outside a primary school in central China as students were arriving for classes on Friday, the police said.

The attack, in the village of Chengping in Henan Province, happened shortly before 8 a.m., said a police officer from Guangshan County, where the village is located.

The attacker, Min Yingjun, 36, was subdued by security guards and taken into custody by the police, said the officer, who declined to give her name, which is customary among Chinese civil servants. Guards have been posted at schools across China after a spate of attacks in recent years.

A Guangshan County hospital administrator said there were no deaths among the nine students admitted to the hospital, although two badly wounded children were transferred to better-equipped hospitals outside the county.

A doctor at Guangshan’s hospital of traditional Chinese medicine said that seven students had been admitted there, but that none were seriously injured.

It was not clear how old the wounded children were, but Chinese primary school students are generally 6 to 11.

A notice on the Guangshan County government’s Web site confirmed the number of wounded and said an emergency response team had been set up to investigate the stabbings.

No motive was given for the attack, which resembled a string of similar assaults against Chinese schoolchildren in 2010 that killed nearly 20 and wounded more than 50. The most recent such attack took place in August, when a man broke into a middle school in the southern city of Nanchang and stabbed two students before fleeing.

Most of the attackers have been mentally disturbed men involved in personal disputes or unable to adjust to the rapid pace of social change in China, underscoring grave weaknesses in the antiquated Chinese medical system’s ability to diagnose and treat psychiatric illness.

In one of the worst attacks, a man described as an unemployed, middle-aged doctor killed eight children with a knife in March 2010 to vent his anger over a thwarted romantic relationship.

LOL... I'm sorry but can China seriously be sending patients to better equipped medical facilities OUT OF THE COUNTRY? China? With all their money, they do not have BETTER EQUIPPED medical facilities? Nonesense!

Romance / Re: Single Mothers Are Never Taken Serious by SAGirl: 1:50pm On Nov 30, 2012
This still all boils down to one simple conclusion: everyone to his own. If you are a man and you feel you do not want anything to do with a woman who has already born a child... then fine. It is okay. Single women are not missing out on anything by not having an opportunity to be with you... you are doing THEM a favor.

I have a friend who is dating a single mother of 3: one of her own, one adopted, plus her young brother. He adores her and her kids.

Children are a gift, and men who choose to be with women who have children undertand that. They are not baggage, they are not a burden, they are a gift.

I'm in love with a man who has a little daughter. And i fell in love with the little girl before her father. She is to die for and i would love nothing better than to contribute to the woman she is going to be one day.
Romance / Re: Single Mothers Are Never Taken Serious by SAGirl: 1:21pm On Nov 29, 2012
What a topic.

I am a single mother, and I really haven't experienced that sort of discrimination. Maybe its because i live in South Africa, not Nigeria.

I have not experienced that discrimination because my role as a mother is a part of me, there is no way you can know me and not know that I am a mother. So i guess the guys with such issues stay away from me from word Go so i never even get to know what they are thinking.

What I have experienced though, is that the discrimination comes more from other women than men. Mothers, sisters and aunties will not allow their sons to marry a woman with a child, if so it comes with great difficulty. That, I have experienced as I lost a man i loved very dearly that way. And i have heard other women, even my close friends, admit that they would not want their baby brothers to marry a woman with a child.

So ladies, lets stop blaming men for once. We are as much to blame for this culture of thinking a single mother is somewhat of lower worth.

CHANCEMAN:

Is this peculiar to NIgerian men or black people even in the US.

I am asking this directing it to Nigerian men because you are the ones saying so in this forum. I have never heard an American rapper or South African artist saying they want light-skinned women in their videos. And if you watch the videos, you will see that there is a healthy balance of women featured.
SA and USA have a higher white population so you should expect to see some of them in videos (otherwise it would be discrimination), but for Nigerian videos the numbers just don't balance.

Even other African (DRC for example) videos feature more dark-skinned women that you guys.

Music/Radio / Re: Reason Why Many Nigerian Artistes Shoot Their Videos In SA. by SAGirl: 2:23pm On Nov 08, 2012
LOL... I really have always wondered why Nigerian artists come to SA to shoot their videos.

After all, you guys have a much bigger entertainment industry than us... surely there should be some Nigerian mogul who has started investing in the industry by now?

Whenever I watch your movies I wonder why don't you have proper studios... you make so many movies, movie-makers (and video-makers) should by now be spoilt for choice when it comes to where to shoot.

Anyway, the article is right about South African girls not being interested in being paid for videos. I was once in a music video myself and I wasn't paid for it, but I was on TV and I still have the video as a reminder of how fine i looked 10 years ago :-)

Are you telling me that if you go to any university in Nigeria you wont find girls who are prepared to be in 2Face or P-Square's video for free? I find that hard to believe.

I think the big question to ask here is: WHY DO NIGERIAN ARTISTS PREFER TO FEATURE LIGHT-SKINNED WOMEN IN THEIR VIDEOS? What is this inferiority complex that Nigerian men still have about light-skinned women being prettier/sexier?

panafrican:
South africans are A-FRI-CANS, as such they have the full rights to voice their opinions on any african forum about any topic, domestic or not. One may not agree with some south africans supporting the mining company and south african cops, but No-one should deny them the rights to say what they feel and think, because people from the same region in the same country exchange harsh words anyway. It is not a new thing.

I sometimes can say "PanAfrican Forces gonna push you guys into the cold south pole sea", but this just a joke ! Nothing should be taken that seriously.

This discussion has moved away from the Marikana mining issue a long time ago... what is happening is country-bashing and that is what i have an issue with.

And you can say things on ths forum as jokes, but not everybody knows that you are joking. This is a public forum and all sorts of people read what you say, so you must be responsible about what you put out there, you do not know the damage it may cause.

You guys are joking and having fun with this rediculous (sic) discussion here, but other Nigerians are reading this and their contempt for everything South African is just growing because of the things you are all putting out there. This is how stupid things like Xenophoobia spread, leading to Xenophobic attacks, religious-wars, ethnic-cleansings, etc

I can't believe this is still going on and has turned so ugly.

I would just like to make a plea to my fellow South Africans on this forum: we are just guests in here and I feel we should really refrain from offending people in THEIR forum. I find all these posts very distasteful, if you want to educate people about how beautiful and grand South Africa is then let us create our own forum for that.

I don't understand why you would stoop to such low levels to argue on such a pointless topic. People believe what they will and relentless hitting your head against the wall is not going to change that.

I'm here to have constructive conversations about Africa, and I'm sure that is why we are all here. So please let us refrain from allowing ourselves to be dragged into ugly country fights, that is not what we are about as South Africans. If someone wants to bash your country, let them... That will not take away from what you have.
Romance / Re: When A Girl Is 30+...and Still Single. by SAGirl: 1:15pm On Sep 07, 2012
I am a single woman in her 30s.

What I know about life is every situation has its pros and cons. Everybody has their own set of problems. Everybody complains about their lot in life. Married women want to be single, single women want to be married.

Most of my friends were married in their 20s: 20% of them are divorced. 30% are staying in miserable marriages because they feel they have no way out (or are scared of what people will say). 20% are in good marriages, with good man, but they still suffer from depression due the stresses of marriage. 30% are happily married and loving it.

I have both single female and male friends. And yes, we all dream of meeting that one person to spend the rest of our lives with. But what I've picked up is that single men are more stressed about their situation that single woman. They obsess about it more. And hence they assume that it should be that way with women. But it is not because women are different. We just get on with it and make best of our current situation.

If I am 32 and look 25, it means that I naturally age well. I will be 50 and I will still look damn good. Being a beautiful 22 year old does not mean much, every woman is beautiful at 22. You do not know how she's going to age, and chances are as soon as you put that ring on it she is gonna let herself go and start balooning like nobody's business. A 30 year old woman who looks good knows how to take care of herself and will never let herself go, married or not.

So.. you marry your 22 year old, and I promise you that in 10 years time, I wll still be looking like this. My tits will still be tight. But she will be looking like my Auntie.

Disclaimer: I am in no way bashing younger women, and I am in no way suggesting that you marry me or any other woman my age. You will not find one anyway who would settle for anyone with the mentality of some of the gentlemen on this forum :-)

kj_hova: I don't know if the Minister should be saying such or not. But what he said is not far from truth!

Take this comparison listed below:

Energy: S/A generates 50,000MW of electricity while Nigeria's 4,500MW!

This particular fact is quite shocking, considering that Nigeria's population is over 170M compared to SA's 50M. And South Africa is already struggling with sufficient power supply to everyone... how does Nigeria survive?

all4naija: You got people's comments twisted. There is nobody hating on South Africa on this forum. The truth is that with the level of development and claims of civilization in the country it is annoying to see people still carry weapon during protest channeling them to harm the police and expected not to be shot at.

The truth is that I have never see any Nigerian on his right mind hating any South African. Looking back to what the people of your country have done to Africans migrants against the Europeans it becomes obvious there is some animosity to view black South Africans as xenophobic. They have proved that during the massacre of Africans( most of the images were gruesome and still fresh in many migrants minds).

Just that you don't want to see African migrant(well palpable from the tone of your comment) in South Africa yet there are large communities of Indians, Chinese and the so called color not to mention the whites who held that country for many years in agony.

Simply, on your opinion you lack the brain power to decipher that there is need for Africans to migrate to South Africa. Whites know the significance of migrants that was the very reason they gave free pass for European to visit and live in Australia during the Aborigine suppression regimes.

It is time you learn to appreciate you African people and try to settle issue with them rather coming here to claim superiority and how South Africa is different from other African country forgetting that it is in the backdrop of the white man's culture and legacy.

I apologise if i misunderstood anyone, and i apologise for being misunderstood.

We in SA are still Africans, so there is absolutely no reason for Africa to expect us to be any different. Saying we must behave any different is you implying our superiority, not us.

Yes, my tone took a different turn when i spoke of ZIMBABWEANS, and that is because half of them happen to be here and yet they still hate our guts. They hate Nigerians too, just by the way. The idea of having to go next door to beg just doesn't sit welll with them because for a very long time they were the 'superior' ones. I have no problems with Africans migrating to SA, I have an issue with them doing it illegally though. We have plenty of African proffessionals here and they live good, normal lifes. Both my Gynea and my son's Urologist are Nigerians. And I love them to bits because they are good at what they do. My ex-fiancee is Zimbabean, adn so is my current boyfriend, so I have nothing against them either.

But, South Africa is only a small part of Africa and there is no way we can be expected to carry the entire Africa on our shoulders. It is just not possible.

As for the violence, I think it has already been covered in great detail here that South Africa is still an extremely violent society. We don't just do it to you, we do it to each other (as this very discussion proofs), so there is no need for Africa to feel any animosity towards us. You come to SA, expect something to happen to you. Your car stolen, being raped, shot for a mere cellphone. It happens everyday, you are not special.

Needless to say, my point was that as Africans we should learn to stop bashing each other and instead learn from each other. We have all travelled our different paths to get to where we are, and surely there is something there to learn from where Nigeria, South Africa, Libya, Zimbabwe, Botswana, etc are today.
Foreign Affairs / Re: South African Police Kill Striking Miners! by SAGirl: 2:03pm On Aug 20, 2012
LOL... I think everybody in here should just take a deep breathe. Breath people, it is okay... it is not the end of the world yet:-)

South Africans always manage to sort out their issues... they are no perfect, but they are trying to be different from the reso of Africa. It is difficult because they are treading on unknown ground.. it's like being on a journey and never knowing what awaits you around teh corner. No one has ever travelled this road so there is no point of reference. They are learning all the way.

Nigeria is a country full of highly intelligent, educated people. They must just put aside their hatred for each other (Christians vs. Muslems) and learn to hold their leaders accountable.

Zimbabwe is a beautiful country that is still full of potential. They are recovering steadly and hopefuly one day very soon they will all be able to return home (because we know they despite SA and everything it stands for).

I can never understand why every discussion amongst Africans turns into a Country-bashing session. I woudl jus like to be a fly on the wall at these leadership meetings (AU, SADC, etc) to hear what really goes on :-)

P.S I didn't know there weer so many South Africans on this forum.....
Foreign Affairs / Re: South African Police Kill Striking Miners! by SAGirl: 1:16pm On Aug 17, 2012
This is a very complicated situation.

I liked a comment by someone in the media about how these miners put their lives on the line every single day by going underground, and they earn next to nothing for it while the mine-owning fatcats are billionares (and they are no longer just whites falling in this group). So death does not scare these miners, they face it everyday.

The police had been negotiating with the strikers for 2 days, but they would not listen and the violence and killing continued. The police made it clear that if teh strikers did not cooperate by today, force would be used to maintain order.

I personally blame the Trade Unions, they use these desperate people as porns in their greed for power.

It is sad that so many people had to die, and it is sad that some quarters are going to start using this as an excuse to push their ridiculous nationalisation-of-mines agendas. This is what scares me.

Lets hope for the best though!!!

My fellow Africans,

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

You know the way Goldie was on her knees crying begging for Barbs forgiveness when Barbs was evicted... I am on my knees, crying in gratitude.

What a landslide win... Africa really loved Keagan. And I was soooooooooooooooo worried thinking we are hated. And you know what the best part of these results is: there was no rigging involved (South Africa does not have the time, inclination nor the manpower to play the game that way). Every single country that you see there is genuine, they voted for Keagan because they wanted him to win. No country vote was stolen...

Thank you Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Botswana, Angola (a shock) and ROA... thank you for loving our crazy boy.

Keagan really did deserve to win this thing.. and we will make sure that he does right by our Makoti, Talia. She really is more of a price than any money Keagan could've won.

We are humbled as South Africans. This was a campaign of love and unity... there was no hating (regardless of how hard Prezzo-supporters tried to drag us into their hate-party). We all just stood together for a young man who walked into this game as an ultimate underdog. #what happened to their rigging-campaign, by the way? They must really suck at rigging if they only managed to get 2 country votes# As Talia said to Biggie why she chose Keagan over Seydou: KEAGAN IS KIND AND POLITE.

I will go through all messages later, I was off sick the last 2 days of the week last week so I have a lot of work to do... But I just had to start my day with this post.

And I really feel that Kenya needs an opportunity to win this too guys... when Uti won, you guys promised Kenya that you would support them teh following year because they had supported Uti despite still having a rep at the finals. Hopefully from now on we will all start playing the game the way it was intended to be played: no hating, no rigging... just let the best person win.

THANK YOU NIGERIA...

Okay... it is probably way too late for this but I'm gonna go ahead and do it anyway.

In the 2 seasons I've watched this show... I have not been in support of South African reps (for reasons that have nothing to do with their country of origin).

But today, this season... I am coming to this forum begging for the West African vote for Keagan. I am now 100 % convinced that he deserves to win this more than anyone else remaining in this house.

He has provided real good (read CRAZY) entertainment since day 1

He has won a record-breaking numberr of HoHs

Women just love him: it started with our beautiful Zaineb, then Eve, Lady May, Jeanette, and now he has managed to steal Talia from the hunky, rich, 'ladies-love-me' Seudou (not all these women can be wrong about the man)

And now he is providing us with the only REAL romance of this season of BBA (i am all of a sudden glued to my TV screen again)

Keagan is REALLY the man, and I hope the best man wins...

But...he cannot win without the Nigeria/Ghana/Sierra Leone vote... so I'm begging you guys to please vote for him.

ROA might be against him for the single fact that he's South African... But there has never been such issues between SA and Nigeria because we are equals.

Kyle has really been disapponting the past few days, he has suddenly grown such a big head.

And Talia... nough said!

PLEASE please please :-)

boljamogun: Dear beloved Africa,

Thank you for the support you gave KYLE and LADY MAY last week.

By the outcome of yesterday eviction result, you have clearly demonstrated that you run this show and sent warning signal to this year BBA votes riggers that Africa is WATCHING and cannot be FOOLED.

Having carefully studied the path to victory on Sunday for the remaining housemates (finalists), it is clear that only TALIA & KYLE are capable of winning this year show as depicted below:

KYLE: Uganda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, ROA (4 or 5 country votes);

TALIA: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, ROA (5 -7 country votes);

KEAGAN: South Africa, Botswana (2 country votes)

PREZZO: Kenya, Tanzania, and possibly Liberia (through Rigging) (2 or 3 country votes)

LADY MAY: Namibia (I country vote)

WATTI P. : Malawi (1 country vote)

In as much I would like KEAGAN to win this show because he deserves it owing to his persistent hardwork as depicted by his record of winning 6 Head of House tasks, the majority African mentality that South Africa is doing well economically and the citizens are better off, and therefore the money should be given to housemate from less economically privileged country, may work against him as it happened last season.

From the above careful analysis of possible voting result this Sunday, I strongly believe that only TALIA & KYLE have realistic chance of winning the grand price and capable of out-smarting the Team Prezzo rigging strategy which aims at subverting the WILL of majority African voting public and imposed its master, Prezzo, as the winner of this show.

I, therefore, call on you (the Africa) to decide quickly who is more your favourite finalist between TALIA and KYLE in this final week by concentrating your votes and rallying round him/her to prevent Prezzo from emerging as a dark horse winner through his fan rigging machinery.

Please, Africa, decide your WINNER between KYLE and TALIA now and do not split the votes this week as it could be dangerous and regrettable.

Once again, I thank you for upholding the African core value system since the advent of Big Brother on the Africa soil in the year 2001 (BBSA 1) as this is the main reason that has kept people of my like-minds being part of Big Brother (BB) family since the year 2001.

God Bless you All!!
God Bless Africa!!!

I WOULD CHOOSE KYLE... :-)

*and please people, we are not rich. Keagan also needs the money abeg, and as you mentioned, he is the deserving winner...I so believe that he is
