Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele is having quite the 2018. She is set to star in one of the year’s most anticipated movies, Avengers: Infinity Wars, teaming up with international movie stars Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth.

Other big names in the movie set to be released later in 2018 are Scarlett Johansson, Bernicio Del Toro, and Chris Evans, while Bradley Cooper and
Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel feature in voice acting roles.

According to popular movie review website IMDB, Akindele is cast as a member of Dora Milaje, a team of women who serve as personal bodyguards of the Black Panther , the spiritual leader of Wakanda.

The wikia page for the movie also featured the actress with her role pencilled down. This is exciting as it further cements the relationship between Nollywood and Hollywood. Recall that Hollywood screen diva Vivica. A. Fox starred in 30 days in Atlanta, which was a Nollywood production.

In the sequel to Avengers: Age of Ultron , Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.

The movie is set to be released in the Netherlands on April 28.

My arrest had no ethnic undertone – Innocent Chukwuma

Innocent Chukwuma, chief executive officer (CEO) of Innoson Group, has dismissed the reports that his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had an ethnic undertone.

According to News Express, the businessman said this when he addressed a large crowd which thronged his residence on Saturday.

“It {his arrest} has no tribal or zone undertone but was purely business-related,” the newspaper quoted him to have said.

Operatives of the anti-graft agency picked Chukwuma up from his Enugu residence on Tuesday.

This sparked a controversy, with a social media campaign that Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) should be blacklisted for purportedly being behind the ordeal of the billionaire businessman.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had weighed in on the issue, alleging that the federal government had launched a manhunt for successful “Biafran” industrialists.

Chukwuma had earlier narrated his experience on the day he was arrested.

He said he hid within his house for two hours, thinking kidnappers or armed robbers were then ones who invaded his residence.

The industrialists said he was in pyjamas when operatives of the anti-graft agency came calling and that they flew him to Lagos from Enugu in his underwear.

Fuel scarcity deliberate attempt by President Buhari to impoverish Igbos – Ohaneze

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo, has stated the current fuel shortage in the country was a deliberate attempt by the current administration to impoverish Igbo people.
He also stated that the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration do not in any way favour sons and daughters of Igbo land.
Nwodo said the fuel scarcity was to ensure that whatever Igbos living outside brought to Igboland would be expended on fuel.

He called on Ndigbo to never forget to bring back their wealth to the homeland.
He said this in his Christmas message, adding that the period provides good opportunity for Ndigbo to pray more to God to send succor to alleviate their sufferings in the country.

He said, “They know that at this period in the year Ndigbo travel a lot to their homeland, that’s when the government chose to close our airport, that’s when they allow fuel shortage to take place, this is very unfair and insensitive.

“It’s a deliberate policy of impoverishing our people to ensure that whatever wealth our sons and daughters bring home during Christmas is expended on the obvious effect of fuel shortage and none for investment.

“The proceeding events in the country especially as it relates to Ndigbo since this administration came to power underscores the imperatives for our people to think home with their wealth,” Nwodo added.
