PoliticsRe: Bad Economy: "Nigerians like Free Money, not Used To Working Hard" - Orji Kalu by saintmm(m): 9:09pm On May 27, 2025
spiSeyi:
Whaooow! TBH Nigerians are the most hardworking people after the Chinese and Pakistan but we are here today whereby people work like an elephant and feed like an ant because of APC cluelessness. But this Coming from someone who has been enjoying government free money for more than 2 decades anyways I blame him and Akpabio wey dey lash Nigerians back to back of not that most Nigerians love to romance their oppressors , enjoy suffering. The likes of Kalu, Akpabio even Tinubu should not even be a councilor. No be your fault nah the fooools wey dey vote APC I blame undecided
It is not about APC, it's about our politicians.
Remember that aside Tinubu all others you mentioned used to be PDP members and ruled and contributed to the destruction of this country as PDP members, they only jumped ship to continue their destruction in APC. After APC they will still go to the reigning party to continue their evil work.
We as a people needs to redefine our politics.
PoliticsRe: Bad Economy: "Nigerians like Free Money, not Used To Working Hard" - Orji Kalu by saintmm(m): 9:01pm On May 27, 2025
And now senator Orji has dropped his own quote. Nigerians like free money.
This made me to start thinking when was money ever free in Nigeria?
This man became governor @39 years in 1999, a strong attestation to privilege and has been around power since then. He doesn't live the life of an average deprived Nigerians before becoming governor and became emperor after ruling, ruined opportunity of many people by embezzling their patrimony, yet, has the gut to say that Nigerians like free money.

It is well. No empire lasts forever.

PoliticsRe: Coalition: Atiku Draws Battle Line With PDP Govs, Ignored Osun Gov During Visit by saintmm(m): 8:45pm On May 27, 2025
What puzzles me about all this opposition and coalition talks is that they are not realistic with issues.
2027 election is looking like a game between peacock and snake. After they must have ticked all the wrong boxes and offer victory to
Tinubu on the platter of gold, they will start shouting rigging, electoral malpractice and all those emotional sentiment.

Atiku as a n experienced politician supposed to know 2026 is before 2027 and you have to be on the seat first before talking of supporting this or that. Oyetola is still there, Aregbesola can't be trusted other interests are there, he needs to align to remain on seat if not , it's over for him. Besides, this is you that doesn't care about people around you but Tinubu does.
Atiku should better retrace his step or he will wail again in 2027.

PoliticsRe: Resolutions Of The PDP NEC Meeting by saintmm(m): 8:17pm On May 27, 2025
PDP is currently a committee of friends. They will resume being a party after 2027 election. Because by then the SPV called APC would have achieved it's aim and the center will not be able to hold again. Then we will see the rebirth of PDP. But for now those holding the jugular of PDP are working for Tinubu some directly while some indirectly. Even the so called coalition has been infiltrated already, forget about grammar and grandstanding. It's only if God say no, that's why Tinubu will not continue in 2027. No politician near his politics, although we can't say same of governance.

PoliticsRe: Atiku's Coalition Announces Six Powerful Leaders From Across Geopolitical Zones by saintmm(m): 6:01pm On May 27, 2025
[quote author=papyjaypaul post=135529243]He is a transactional leader, even in the election, you should notice how those who campaigned for him said he helped them in their personal life to do this and that. Those help were not without conditions. They made me chuckle because instead of the state working, they are happy with connections and that is what Nigeria is facing today. The people will get weaker and they will beg for favors. Nigerians should have learned from the Obasa saga to know how this man thinks. It is not in your best interest to have weak and disloyal people at the top.
He rewards loyalty so if those who have been with him so long desert him, that can be dangerous. A name you did not mention is Fashola.
[quote]A very good observation. But, Fashola is still for him. He's only resting for now besides, what else does he want that Tinubu will not give? He was there for Tinubu during his exile days. But, Aregbesola wants to balkanize Tinubu empire. That's a tall order for him. So, he can't perform well in the coalition
PoliticsRe: Atiku's Coalition Announces Six Powerful Leaders From Across Geopolitical Zones by saintmm(m): 5:51pm On May 27, 2025
Among those regional leaders, it is only Peter Obi that can deliver and may deliver south east. Aregbesola is a paper weight now in his osun and Lagos while he doesn't exist on the remaining south west states. Talk about being with Tinubu before, himself knows better. David Mark I think may also perform especially in plateau, Benue, kogi axis. Nasarawa, Niger state is a no for him, he knows that, then, Kwara, I can't say.
El-rufai in his own case will at least do a bit only if person like Sule Lamido, sanusi Lamido etc are in his camp.
Rotimi Amaechi, that one is figure head, nothing any thing he gets is on Peter Obi influence.
Then, Atiku, the easy ally is Ali Ndume, Babachir Lawal and some other light weight folks to slug it out with Nuhu Ribadu, Kashim Shettima, so, I can't predict where that can flip anyway,
Anyway, fingers crossed.

PoliticsRe: Cassava Producers Take Steps As Starch Import Crashes Price by saintmm(m): 10:31pm On May 26, 2025
donpata:
Because we are cursed with dumb leaders, we will continue to suffer. It is suicide to support importation against local production. Same thing is happening to maize production. Fertilizer is still very expensive and so are herbicides and pesticides. Rather than addressing these challenges for long term sustainable agricultural development, government is now taking the lazy man's way for temporary gains due to elections.

Even a newborn baby knows that the disastrous level of insecurity in the country especially in the north, is the major cause of high food prices since many farming communities have been displaced. Rather than address this terrible issue head-on, government has resorted to window dressing for temporary gains and more trouble later.

I see ignorant comments where people are blaming the farmers for not using the opportunity wisely. That line of argument is a consequence of zero knowledge of basic economics. The farmers are to a large extent, victims of the situation we find ourselves.

Hoarding is a crime, and most of our farmers lack the capacity to hold onto their produces longer than two to three months cos they simply sell and buy fertilizer and other farm inputs as well as household groceries. The hoarders are the corrupt politicians and biz people with warehouses, and with capacity to store these products for years. Again, rather than targeting these persons, the government is allowing more importation, the lazy-man solution.

The people benefiting from the agricultural value chain locally are large. All these drama will just make them jobless. I understand there is hunger in the land but government should take up the responsibility of tackling insecurity and dealing with their hoarder friends so that food can be cheap. Subsidy for farming inputs are also great. Afterall, the farmers in countries we are importing from are heavily subsidized by their govts. Y not we? Why kill local industry. BUNCH OF MEDIOCRES.
Why calling people mediocre when they argued their point with facts? Buhari iadministration invested in farming in Nigeria.
But I wonder what the masses gained from Buhari massive investment in agriculture.
Rather increased insecurity to sabotage the masses.
Except you are not in Nigeria, we all knew how farmers and merchants sabotage Buhari rice project.

Better do your best and leave the rest. You condemn one and vote one, the one you vote will go and apologize to the one you condemn and sign deal with him on your behalf. They are all politicians.
Take it or leave it they All have a meeting point where deal are signed and common patrimony shared. If you are not part of them, you can't see it.

So, vote who you like and leave the rest for them.

PDP did more than this, where is it today?
This trajectory is making it clear that APC will scatter after 2031 election and another party will emerge. If they will win 2031 election, that is too early to predict but, 2027 has gone already.
All we need is resource control at the regional level and then every region will develop at its own pace according to their ideology

You do not understand. This is not about the politicians. It is about us Nigerians. We are selfish, self centered, and unkind. The mindset is always about me and my family alone. That is the real Nigerian mentality. It is not only politicians who live in luxury. Many people are out drinking Azul and Hennessy, going to clubs, spending money on prostitutes, but refusing to invest or create opportunities for others. This way of thinking is everywhere, from the bottom to the top. Nigerians will spend millions on parties while their own relatives are suffering. Stop blaming politicians. They are simply a reflection of who we are as a people.
I think I'm the only one that sees this. Thank God more people are seeing it.
We are currently terrible as a people and our society is awful the reason we produce those we have as leaders. We're too self-centered in thought and actions. Societal value is meaningless of I can't manipulate it to my favor, heaping blame on everyone except you etc.
It's mind reorientation that that we urgently need as a people before anything else
PoliticsRe: Coalition: No Decision Yet On ADC, Says Lukman by saintmm(m): 11:49am On May 22, 2025
To me, any coalition that has former Tinubu allies as pillars cannot defeat Tinubu.
So far, it's only Peter Obi I'm seeing with strategy that may make Tinubu puzzle.
He has worked with the rest, they fell out with him, each of them with Tinubu knew why they fell out which they will never really tell us. Each of them and Tinubu knows where to meet if need be.
I may sound weird, but, how are we so sure that all this coalition talks is not in favor of Tinubu with Atiku trying to make a mark against 2031 to any green horn in the north that may be nursing the ambition.
I can never trust any politician again since what I experienced in the gubernatorial election of my state in 2015.
They all dined together, strategize together, arrange things among themselves than throw news in the public to keep us busy.

So, even in this coalition I'm still seeing Tinubu hand in their structure.

Fingers crossed

PoliticsRe: 2027: This Is The Only Way To Defeat Tinubu Even If He Makes Himself INEC Chair by saintmm(m): 9:03am On May 22, 2025
The only ticket that can give Tinubu a run for his money is Peter Obi/el-rufai ticket with a strong backing of Atiku Abubakar. This will resound well into South East/ North West/North east while north central will be poached by Atiku and South south will be poached by Peter Obi. Then, mount pressure on national assembly for proactive electoral reform. With that even if Nigeria will not start getting better, the degeneration will stop.

But, trust politicians with their greed and ego.

Atiku/Obi ticket cannot and will not unseat Tinubu in 2027. Buhari defeated this same ticket in 2019. Forget about 2023 figures, it won't matter in 2027 except Obi is the candidate. That Atiku figure as well will not fly in 2027. There's a massive erosion of his base infact himself knows he can't boast of that figure in 2027.

So, fingers crossed
PoliticsRe: The Coalition Is To Ensure Tinubu Goes Back To Lagos - El-Rufai by saintmm(m): 8:47am On May 22, 2025
Good el-rufai has found his voice. But, he's letting out too much too early. Play your card close to your chest. This is neither Jonathan nor Buhari in politics. This is a political Machiavelli. He's, already plot your graph, predicting what you can do and see how he can benefit from what you are doing to achieve your goals.
His competence in governance is in doubt due to obvious results but, his competence in politics is A+.
So, when dealing with him be guided. Mind you the only person that he hasn't dined with at least publicly in the coalition is Peter Obi who I see as the only far person for Tinubu in that mix, the rest have worked with him, he already has a dossier of your strength and weakness and loophole to manoeuver in due time.
Well, I still love the coalition and how it's gaining momentum but, Tinubu can't be unseat in 2027 election without drastic proactive electoral reform that is masses-centric. But, counting on any politicians to unseat Tinubu in 2027, is a pipe dream

Tvegas:
Since the Start of the 4th Republic in 1999

NO PRESIDENT HAS EVER BEEN ELECTED WITHOUT THE SUPPORT AND MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS OF MOST OF THE STATE GOVERNORS. THAT WILL NOT CHANGE IN 2027.

Nigerian Democracy hasn't matured enough for Coalitions to succeed without the involvement of major Power Brokers.
You are right. But, until a concept is challenged, you can't know it's strength. These are former vice president, former governors. Some former legislators will also join them. Some sitting governors will still work for them indirectly just as it was for Obi in 2023 election.
So, for me, it's a good thing. APC will stop taking us for granted and actually govern, even though I still see APC winning the presidential election anyway
