Obasanjo’s criticism will make Jonathan work harder, says Fani-Kayode AGAINST the backdrop of its declaration of support on Tuesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to explain to Nigerians its connections with the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement yesterday said while the onus lies on the APC to choose those to work with in its quest for power, “the explanation has become necessary following the public reactions and concerns trailing the statement by MEND backing APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari. “What exactly does APC have in common with MEND? Why do they want to resurrect it? Nigerians want to know. Are we also expecting a similar statement from insurgents in the north, which initially named General Buhari to lead the dialogue between them and the Federal Government? “Nigerians are indeed worried by these developments. We therefore, urge the APC to come out clean and explain to the citizens what they have in common with these groups, especially given the statement by their flag bearer, after the 2011 elections, that the “dogs and baboons will all be soaked in blood.” The party also blamed the opposition for failing to assist government in prosecuting those they accused of sponsoring terrorist activities in the country, while also declaring that it would continue to respect former President Olusegun Obasanjo notwithstanding his comments against President Goodluck Jonathan on the latter’s style of administration. Director, Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode who made these disclosures at a press conference in Abuja yesterday said that Obasanjo’s hard stance would spur Jonathan’s administration to more positive actions. “First of all President Olusegun Obasanjo also accused Tinubu of misappropriation of funds and corruption in his book, he also accused Gen Buhari of committing some of the most heinous crimes against humanity over the years; they are contained in his books. Obasanjo also spoke about what he believed was the misuse or whatever of foreign reserves. He never used the word misappropriation. What I will say about that is that our leader and father, former President Obasanjo is certainly entitled to his views and we thank God that we have a president that welcomes the views of everybody about everything and anything. They can live in the comfort of that fact that nobody is going to be too hard on them in terms of responses. We continue to learn from Obasanjo and we continue to believe that he is a loyal party member that he claims to be, we believe that he is a loyal party member. We sincerely hope that what he has said is an attempt to make us better in the future.” On the issue of Jonathan’s alleged lack of capacity to prosecute persons behind the Boko Haram terrorists, Fani Kayode said the opposition failed to produce evidence to help in prosecuting those they accused of backing Boko Haram. He wondered why the leaders of the APC waited for former Borno State Governor, Alli Modu Sheriff, before they began to raise allegations of supporting Boko Haram against him. He also said that PDP’s insistence that general Muhammadu Buhari and some other leaders of the APC were supporters of Boko Haram arose from the public statements those APC leaders made in the past, adding that there was no further evidence. “The fact that we have said that Buhari made suggestions or statements in the past doesn’t mean that the government has evidence against him. But the APC has spoken against the proscription of the Boko Haram and if they take over, they will lift the ban on the sect.” On the issue of capacity to fight corruption, Fani Kayode said: “If you really want to talk about corruption you need to look about people around Buhari. I will also want them to point at themselves. Look at the record of Bola Tinubu at Lagos State; was it a corruption free administration? Look at the record of Amaechi of Rivers state who has closed down the courts in the state simply because he doesn’t want action taken against him. For the last few months no courts has operated there. http://theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=39540 |
zyzxx:My question is would you not believe if African Traditional Religion was written down in the Bible? |
1. KARMA AND REINCARNATION[: The mistakes of the Orthodox Religion of Christianity and Islam is their inability to teach their followers that "Cause and Effect " are very crucial and that one comes back to either pay or reap. This is very important in African Traditional Religion, which is able to curtail the evil and excesses of people. This is not so in the teachings of the orthodox religion which teaches that one need to believe to blot out former evil. 2. ATR DO NOT LOOK FOR FOLLOWERS Africa Traditional Religion do not scout for followers. To me this is a strong point because why bother to sell a product people know of its importance? If not that you habour something of which you want to benefit from why go out for Jihad or Crusades and envagelism.? "No matter the advert placement on indomie, it can never outsell garri " 3. EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE JUSTICE DELIVERY : African Traditional Religion promote speedy justice to be carried out. Justice delayed, they say is justice denied. This will curtail corruption in our polity. You can imagine if our politicians are made to take their Oath of Offices before the shrine of their village deities instead of with the Holy Bible or Holy Quran. Corruption would have been reduced drastically. 4 VERY ECONOMICAL TO PRACTICE : African Traditional Religion is very economical to practice. No need for expensive temples, mosques or churches to be built. To take someone to its court, you need few pieces of kolanuts and local gin. Little wonder therefore it is called "Poor man Court " 5. GOOD FAMILY VALUES ARE ENCOURAGED : Marriages contracted under African Traditional Religion seem to be more effective than our current orthodox religious marriages which are gradually becoming something else. Marry today divorse tommorrow.!!! Good family values of respect for elders and those in authorities are practiced in ATR. Feel free to refute or agree.!!! |
zyzxx:Not all require human blood, goat blood etc. Some use herbs and chanting of various names of Gods to get a better understanding of the problem. You see, African Traditional Religion today lacks credibility because it was not written down in a holy book. Worse, the advent of the influence of foreign religion finally erode the little history and relevance of the ATR. Most of the Actions of the Gods or gods of the Old Testament are not different from African Gods. The different perhaps was that, theirs was written down on a "holy book " while ours was not. African Gods like Amadioha, Ogun, etc. are real to the Africans and their worshippers as much as elohim is a valid God to the christians. To this end, African have been solving their problems time immemorial using their ways. |
Johnnyessence:That is good, Good luck to you!!! |
When the government said in 2012 that they are deregulating the Petroleum downstream sector of which it involves removal of the useless subsidy, "People rushed to occupy Ojota, and Abuja ". If they had removed the subsidy then, we will be enjoying now. You cant eat your cake and have it!!! "Abi are you guys planning to hit the road again to occupy PH, this time? " |
Her name is Amina, she is married to Lt. Col Chukwuka Obi from Anambra. In other news, "How Buhari helped the Ibo's during the Civil War ". Furthermore," Awolowo predicts Buhari will be President " |
mulante:My brother, if she died in an hospital in USA or Germany, then see the thread title in NL," Jonathan sister flown abroad for medical checkup while Nigerian hospital are 3 months on strike " |
voltron:In fact they should go ahead to form a parallel government. It will only benefit civil servant. You can imagine in Rivers State, Dakuku Peterside as APC Governor will pay his salary for APC Government, then maybe a week later, Nyesom Wike, from the PDP Government will now pay another salary. That will be ok na!!! Useless politicians with poor political idealogy. |
donmalcolm21:Very good one, since Yorubas are the most that populate faceless media group such as Nairaland they consider Osibanjo tour of Lagos as tour of Nigeria as if Osibanjo is contesting for LG Chairman elections |
buchichukwu69:You mean my comment too cheap? Or the guys comment is too cheap? Whether it is for political reason or not, I feel it is highly condemnable to make a sensitive statement like that! |
samplegirl:When they say "CHANGE "! They do not necessarily mean a change into better leadership and sound qualities.! What they actually mean by "change " is the personality and not good and sound leadership capabilities which to them is microscopically insignificant!!! |
aumeehn:So you support the killings? Well, it is OK, but one minor and clueless comment : No matter the level of killings, it is the common man that suffers! It is not Mr President and his family members that suffers. Politicians will always have a way of settlement! Whether they are OBJ, IBB, Shagari, Amaechi, Tinubu, Osibanjo, GMB etc is inconsequential. There are two things politicians crave for :Power and Money, the later being the greater of the two.!! So if you feel killing one another in a suicide mission will remove those two very important aspect of Nigerian politicians then you have to visit the Psychiatrist! No need to abuse, insult, kill or maime to see the quest for power of any politician. But you can still choose the bomb!! Which is still not a bad idea, it is up to you. Good luck!!! |
[quote author=aumeehn post=29388425]good let dem keep on supporting jonaTAN [/quote So you support the killings? WhiteTechnology:Really there is no need telling them of this truth. They are all aware of this truth. More especially their leaders. Two things a politician love most: Power and Money! The greatest of the two is money! Because with the later you can get the former. I pity our youths who do not know this secret! One more minor secret : Politicians always find a means of coming into compromise! So who lose at the end? The poor! So when Mr. President state in various forum that his quest to be president does not worth the life of anybody, I see that as the height of sincerity!!! Microscopically and insignificant few politicians will not tell the poor masses not to fight to see that their wishes come to pass. Therefore the best way is to keep quiet and watch events. No need to insult, abuse, fight and kill one another over anyone quest to power! |
Tinubu:You were on point in your first few paragraphs, then you change to political, then to name calling an expression of hatred!!! Then the whole post becomes highly illogical. You cannot eat your cake and have it!! |
lastchild:I know somehow that it will happen like this. My brother these entities do not respect your knowledge in the scriptures neither will they be swayed by living a soberly religious life. Its up to you anyway. ,Good luck and Happy New Year in advance.!!! |
It is a good news. Nigeria will be great again.!!! |

The stage is now set for a political row between the Hon. Speaker House of Representative Alhj Aminu Tambuwal and his political counterpart in the APC Gov. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State as guardian can reliably gathered In a briefing by the Hon. Speaker in the matter, he stated that, “Our attention has been drawn to a recent media interview, where the governor of Kano, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, gave a lot of misleading conceptions about the Seventh House of Representatives stand on local government autonomy among other things. “The issue of local government autonomy, as far as Nigerians are concerned, is long overdue, arising from our public session as true representatives of the people. Our constituents do not agree with the current status, where local government funds are being pilfered by governors, including Governor Kwankwaso, at the expense of the people and chairmen, who are seen as mere boys for the job. “I challenge the Kano State governor to tell people of his state and Nigerians how these funds are managed in Kano since he came to office. We would certainly not accept a situation where governors turn themselves to demi gods in the name of joint accounts. It is only in Nigeria that an elected governor of a state would speak to the media frontally, eroding democratic ideals of which he is a beneficiary. “It is saddening to note that local government elections have not been held in some states since 1999. I wonder what sort of government states are running. Kwankwaso should realise that the current unitary federalism that is being propagated by him and his colleagues is responsible for the high number of anti-graft cases against governors on corruption.” http://theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=38871 |
Very interesting. How much and where can man get it? |
For a device of 2GB RAM, 5030mAh, 16MP and 5MP, the price will not be anything lower than N35,000.00 |
I pray they market it online to remove cost of middle men. Is a good phone the mobile market in 2015 will be very volatile. This will bring low ends mobile devices to the consumers. Regular mobile phone makers such as Samsung, LG Mobile, Apple, TECNO, Innjoo, etc better start to review and crash their prices. It will be very interesting next Mobile Device Year. |

It looks like the people are gradually awakening. People have started asking questions which less than ten years ago many would have accepted it "whole and sinker ". Of course no thanks to social media and technology. We have started seeing the light after many years of mental slavery. I think honestly the church have a lot to do. Things will never be thesame again. I see Nigeria and Africa in general rising again. Maybe if we are lucky, many will revisit the core African Traditional religion. No nation develop fast outside its culture and traditional beliefs. We may not go a long way throwing away our indegenous beliefs and embracing foreign religion. Orthodox religions of Islam and Christianity have a lot to do. It may be small at first, but with time, someone have to explain. |
The word "idol " is used very often by European and the whites to describe African and other black nation and the Carribeans type of God. African traditional religion lacks backing by the Europeans because it was not written down in a Holy Book otherwise, we could have considered gods like "Amadioha, Ogun oduduwa etc, as Gods too. Come to think of it, most names of Gods written down in the Old Testament are just like African Gods. |
coolhamid:To me, I saw it as a reminder to the young ones who never had the opportunity to know about what happened behind the greed and seflishness of these people ( leaders). They are not saints as we are made to believe now. They are not the type of leaders Nigeria needs. Most young ones never knew the level of decay engineered by these leaders. History when disregarded, brings about future failure. |
When the thing dey sweet dem, dem no talk o!!! Na when kasalla don burst you come open useless thread, dey seek for advice for ur friend |
Religion has never benefitted many Africans, more especially the major religion of Islam and Christianity. |
