macof: There's no cherry-pick if u trust the OT as ur holy book follow everything u see in it. If u trust the NT follow everything in it. But I tell u if u drift frm one rule in any of them u have sinned. Know that some rules in both are contradicting, so which do u rather follow? Think my fellow, the OT is the word of God but not a Christianic word of God but a Jewish one.
I haven't said anything about rule, I only told you why I'm not against the old testament being part of the bible.

lahchi: If the Law of the isralites were good and would save sin why would God send His Son to give us another law and bring Christianity to us? Tithe was for the Israelites and not to be paid or observed by Christians even those people who claim to pay tithe don't pay it the way God asked the israelites to pay it. 2 Corinthians 9:6 tells us how to give, I don't seem to understand what you tithers don't seem to understand or is it that you refuse to study your bible and confirm what you are been taught or told? Or is that you just see the person being called the Man of God as a truthfull person without confirming what he tells you to be true? Do not be ignorant of the facts and truth about tithing beacuse you would give account on the last day.
Hope this post was not meant for me because I don't preach tithe. grin

macof: This thread just supports my post on "the old testament is not part of christianity" and thank God some people share my view. I thought every so called Christian has been brainwashed. Tithes is of the OT and Christians shouldn't follow, am sure those people who added OT to the Christian Bible weren't even Christians, they must have been Roman pagans who thought everything religious from Israel is all the same. And so called men of God these days are happy to see "pay your tithes and offerings" in the Bible. why did they not request for animal burnt sacrifice? Abi dat one is evil? Since some African religions do dat and they say it's evil. Jesus teaching alone I follow and not Moses or Malachi when am nt a Jew
You are getting it wrong. The NT is the fulfilment of OT prophecies, therefore there's nothing wrong with the OT being part of the bible.

The problem arises when preacher decide to cherry-pick the teachings of the OT just to suit themselves.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Tithe For Christians? by SalC: 3:40pm On Sep 06, 2013
truthislight: Without the OT there will be no NT.

The prophesies in the OT led to Jesus christ.

The OT led to the NT.

No OT, No christianity.

The OT scriptures and NT scriptures should be togather, cause, the OT prophesies are fulfilled in the NT.

Peace.

Pastor Kun: This issue of tithing can never be over flogged because as we speak millions of brethen all over the world are still being held hostage by this fraud. We would continue to reveal the truth about tithes to our brethen until the whole world becomes aware that it is a scam and tithe fraudsters are chased out of business.
I get your drift but the tithe preachers cling tenaciously to the old testament when it comes to tithe paying but reject it when it comes to other issues thereby making the anti-tithe preacher labour so much in spreading the anti-tithe gospel.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Tithe For Christians? by SalC: 2:15pm On Sep 06, 2013
This issue of tithe has been dealt with on this forum severally and I wonder why it is being repeated every now and then.

I don't believe paying of tithe is obligatory anymore, but if it makes you feel good then go ahead and pay. But I will always prefer helping the poor and needy anyday to paying tithe.

The decision is your but don't make others look hell bound because of tithe.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Believers Should Speak In Tongues by SalC: 4:41am On Aug 26, 2013
Ayatullah:

@Bidam, Why not bring up the REAL SIGNS that could be TESTED which Jesus spoke of in Mark 16:17 - 18 ("And the following signs will accompany those who believe in my name, they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing it will not hurt them, they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover.) I cancelled Speaking in tongues because it is what anyone can manipulate, because you do not have to prove it that what you have said in tongue has a meaning, that is why you have all sorts of chants in various churches like: ' chiropopojiya karagagahoto, jezejezehobra' and so on and so forth. So since Jesus has given other signs that will follow those who believe in him, let the Christians come and prove to us if they indeed can:

1.) CAST OUT DEMONS
2.) PICK UP SERPENTS
3.) DRINK DEADLY THINGS (Poisons)
4.) HEAL THE SICK (They just allowed one of their own, Pastor Ajanaku to die just like that)!

Failure of Christians to do the above as signs set by their Lord and Saviour - Jesus Christ shows they are NOT his followers. So search your mind as a Christian and be sincere.
Your post does not deserve a response.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Believers Should Speak In Tongues by SalC: 4:36am On Aug 26, 2013
kofsy: I understand your point! But you can only receive the baptism of the holyspirit if you intensely crave for it! And saying people pretend to speak is wrong. Once you have been baptised, you can speak at will(anytime you feel like) not necessarily when you are led by the holyspirit.
This is one reason why it seems we now put God aside and do our own biddings.

Do you realize it is one thing to be gifted and another thing to be inspired to uses that gift at a particular time.

If you are gifted with vision, can you also see visions whenever you like?

The fact that people can utter incoherent words whenever they so desire is not a proof of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Please if you are gifted, allow the Holy Spirit to inspire you at a given time.

Op I must thank you for a nice exultation this day. Am happy to know you are still one of those who believe in holy living. The gospel of grace as Bizmahn said rightly put it is not a licence to sin but the grace to aid us stay free from sin when we yield ourselves to God.

Stay close to God and allowing God's grace abide in us, is a key to staying free from sin.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us.

Pastor Kun: Apart from the fact that tithes is not required of you as a christian, there is no passage in scripture that says you must pay interest if you are late in paying your tithes. Whoever told you that must have twisted scriptures to arrive at that false conclusion.
You really think that guy was serious? He's just playing a game and nobody told him anything.

In today's first reading, Jer38v4-10, we see the prophet Jeremiah suffer for preaching the truth. Most times, we are economical we the truth because of fear or what we think is respect but in truth we are only afraid of he who can only kill the body yet the scripture says in Mat 10 V 28" Do not be afraid of those who kill only the body but cannot kill the soul rather be afraid of God who can destroy both body and soul in hell"

Jeremiah suffered for the sake of God but God did not let him down or forsake him in his time of need. God rescued Jeremiah, our's can't be different. Declare God's word fearlessly, let's not relent for in time of trouble, God is there to deliver us.

In the gospel of today, Luke12V 49-53 Jesus said he did not come to the world to bring peace but division.

Let does not mean literally that he came to bring problems and division but he knows too well and he's trying to let us know that his gospel will not always go down well with everyone and that some will believe while others will not and therefore people will always disagree with one another concerning his massage. And for that various interpretation will come up which will contradict each other. Some will not even believe in his existence in the first place, others will not believe he died not to talk of resurrection.

For this reason those who believe in one thing will be against the others who did not hence his words "I came to set the world on fire" not literal fire but the fire of opposing believe.

An instance the priest gave today was that of a late Cardinal who was born into a jewish family and was to become the Rabbi after his father, at age 18 he came in contact with some Christian boy and they started preaching to him. At 23 he told his family of his desire to become a christian. This did not go down well with his family and his consequently, he was disowned yet he persevered and at the long run became a priest.

On the day of his ordination, he was asked how he felt being ordained without any member of his family gracing the occasion, his responses was " if my family were to be here, it means the gospel of Christ which says Fathers will be against their son for his sake would not have been fulfilled" but their absence simply proved the fulfilment of Christ's words in his life.
He lived happily and was a Cardinal before his death.

Finally let's stand firm in Christ for he has conquered the world, we too are more than conquerors by the blood of the lamb and by the words of our testimony.

I know there is a part of the scripture that states the additional percentage one needs to add to tithes once you dont pay at the right month but i cant seem to lay my hands on it now.

Can anyone who understands the calculation help me?
Bros you funny oo!

What were you doing that your tithe has to overdue or you intentionally left it so as to pay interest?

israel boy: Dear Jesus,

i thank you for everything you have done, things you are doing, and things you will continue to do. Thou i am not worthy of every of your goodness, but still your mercy has been speaking for me, my family and all my friends.
Thou, i may not be liked by everyone, but your love is greater than everyone, i have moved to the east, trekked to the west, flew to the north and vanished to the south, i have been searching for a friend like you, to my greatest surprise, i havn't seen a friend similar to you. Even thou i spat at your face, you still hug me.
Dear Jesus, i know and strongly believe in you, you turned my sorrow into joy, you turned my sadness into songs of testimony, you even layed down your life so has just to save me.Jesus, i love you more than everything i have.
Blessed be your holy name.
So touching.
Even with a billion friends around, without Jesus; I am so lonely.

Come blessed saviour and posses my heart every passing second of my life, yes my heart longs for you as the dare pants for water.

My Lord Jesus you are my Love for all times.
