Arent there enough around. Do we need more? There are almost as many pastors as there are Christians. The market is saturated tongue
Which market? We need more laborers in God's vineyard.

You may think we have much, but I dare to say many are wolves in sheep's garments. We need those who are truly there for God.
Christianity Etc › Re: Do You Believe In Destiny? by SalC: 2:55am On Aug 18, 2013
God said to Jeremiah, I knew you before I formed you, and before you were born I have appointed you to be a prophet.

This sounds to me like Jeremiah doesn't have to choose a destiny since his destiny has been mapped out for him.

Jean Paul Satre said" Man's coming into the world is purposeless rather man achieves a purpose in life by exercising his freedom"

Applying the above in the case of Jeremiah won't just work since Jeremiah's coming into the world was not without a purpose.

What am saying in essence is that no man's creation is without a purpose, at least you are created to love and serve God, you may also have been created to bring consolation to the broken hearted. Destiny must not always be something so big like becoming a professor or being the most influential person in the world.
Little things which might not really mean much to us, actually has meaning.

To be continued...

Sont know if this can help u in helping me better. This reoccuring fever is killing my social life plz help.thanks
If what you wrote up there is the case then I will advise you to...

Increase your fruit and water intake.
Reduce your alcohol intake.(I've seen rare cases of people who breakdown whenever they take alcohol )
Make sure you always get enough rest.
Refrain from loading your system with excess antibiotics.(It has its own adverse effect).
Take simple analgesics like paracetamol whenever you have such feverish feelings.(Except it is confirmed that you have malaria at that particular time)
Do little exercises but not so much work.
Hopefully this will help.

peppy luv: My brother Stop decieving ur self,every christian denomination believes in the trinity and that does not mean that Jesus is God! Thou d Anglicans don't deny that they beliv in the trinity.
U all steal our doctrines and try to make it look different from the catholc way! I cudnt stop laughing when an anglican frnd said the sign of the crosss is not 'a catholic thing" and this frnd is so anti catholic and says I carry it on my head lol how? becos I can't stop displaying hw proud I am of it on bb?I hate religious arguement evn thou am bein forced to cuz I get provoked. Crazyman a moderator banned me from NYC section simpy becos I said I was proud of NACC(national association of catholic corpers)meanwhl NCCF were praising their own and immediatly I said somtin they attacked me and whl trying to defend myself(without insults!God wil bear me witness,I was banned till feb 15th 2014! So I wudnt say or promote NACC till I finish my service year!Y d hate for catholicshuh
somtyms our xtian brothers say d unimaginable and I keep wondering "y d hate"?we acknowledge d fact that some of our clergies hv made mistakes and gone astray but who are we to judge if God has forgiven them. Are your clergies innocent or is it becos d catholic church is popular and for that notin is hidden. I dnt hv time to start posting crimes commited by other demonination's clergy just to start an un necessary argument here. All orthodox churches(who later produced the protestants) came out from catholic and we all say d creed together which includes beliving in d holy catholic church till date!
I knw them especialy anglicans to take our doctrines and try to make it look diff.eg they dnt belive in d saints but they name their churches after a saint! Point of correction we dnt worship them but we see them as role models for the life they lived. "There is no saint without a past and no sinner without a future"- st Augustine.
This was one of d reasons why a convert(an elderly yoruba man in church of assmuption asokoro and his 2nd reason was becos of my ex parish priest fr George Ehusani whose preaching he watched and followed closely evry sunday on AIT) came back to the church,he said the anglicans "plucked d fruit witout knwing how it was planted" so he came back to the farm to knw more abt d fruit and how its been planted"! A marriage nearly ended when an Anglican Rev askd a bride(who was catholic) do u reject calling d name of d saints in prayers(don't argue this cuz I hear protestants calling on the God of Oyedepo and Abioye and their demi god pastors!),the grl said NO! Do u reject d Rosary? she said "NO!I married my husband cuz of love not religion" meanwhl d church was bearing the name of a saint!! shocked If u dnt acknwledge them(saints)then y bear the name leave it for the catholics that declared them saints. My mum cudnt stop sighing cuz they dnt knw they hv planted a seed of division in that home!if the bride had made up her mind to submissively follow her husband to anglican forever she may not want to do it again!
I dnt want us to start arguing about new converts here cuz evryday silently,those who hv gone from the church come back. Our doors are open for whoever wants to walk in or out,we dnt need customers to pay tithe. D church has enuf!
That aside, ur pastors bless u and end prayers with "in the name of the father, son and holy ghost!" Abeg is that not the trinity or is it becos u dnt do the sign of the cross u now feel its not the trinity u r acknowledging by saying that? Wake up from ur slumber man,u think u knw d bible more than a jnr seminarian not to talk of the Pope! Lol *smh for ur dumbness*
WITHOUT THE CATHOLICS THEIR WILL BE NO BIBLE! A fact that only fools argue, so if u r one come on then wink
I knw ur next arguement wil be that we worship mary lol don't worry we are ok with that ok. Let it b our headache.
Some of u say u want to save the catholics from hell *lol* u hypocrite! Save ursef 1st! Deliver ursef from ur uncountable lies,fornication,adultery,abortion,injustice, man's inhumanity to man,bribery and corruption, theft,backbiting,hate,gossip,envy,jealousy,anger and so on! Then when u r clean only then will u be worthy of saving 2billion pple from hell!!

Enough of d battle of supremacy btwn christians and muslims after all there are so many world religions. I always told my frnd that if I wasn't a catholic I wud hv been a Buddahist! Yes u heard me.
If u wanna knw y go and do a research about them and u will knw y!not trying to search for negative things after al evry religion has something questionable abt it! They do! Or do u want me to start picking out verse from the bible and koran that will make u ask and wonder if God really said and did all this? Especially in the old testament!
That is y I dnt blame the aetheist (not this fake ones in nairaland that are frustrated but scholars,successful men and women who didnt fast and pray or pay tithe to become who they are!those ones who have studied in and out of that book u think u knw better and with what is happening in this world they keep asking does God really exist)
but I stil beliv in my creator cuz I didn't bring myself into this world.
Religion will not take me to heaven but it guides me. I believe in PEACE(truly from d hrt laying aside all grudges and mistakes like the pope is asking),SERVICE TO GOD AND HUMANITY(not like a pharisee or hypocrite) as my greatest means of salvation!
I really dnt care what anyone's opinion is after reading this. I made my point not trying to argue or start a war of words with anyone. LEAVE CATHOLICS ALONE all u haters!
PEACE! SHALOM!!
I couldn,t have said it better.
On the Anglican marriage issue, I've seen where the marriage did not hold because of this issue and I don't just get that madness.

haykaylanre: as the pope has spoken assuming in holiness I expect you to follow suite instead of labelling the jihadist in ignorance. The celebrated legendary's of this world shall dwell in hell with regret in the hereafter except they die as a muslim.
I never wanted to comment on this thread, but seeing erroneous post as this compelled me to post. The worst mistake one can make is not to give priority to what deserves it, I don't see any reason why a sensible person should keep chasing shadow while ignoring the substance itself.

In as much as I have no hatred for islam, and equally support the Pope for a peaceful co-existence and respect for peoples belief, I don't in anyway believe we all have to die as "muslims"

Your case needs more of the attention of a psychologist than mere drug prescription, though you might still need to take some drug afterall but you need to see a psychologist.

ladepete: Hello drs in the house. Plz I served in a military barracks last year.around May when the the weather became cold and windy + a lot of bushes everywhere. I started having reoccuring fever.I fall sick every month and treat myself for malaria then I feel better.in about 3weeks symptoms surface again.I continued like that till I passed out Oct. I treated mysef with 2 diff malaria drugs @ the same time, one athemeter injections,then fansidar tabs around august and also took an anitbiotics (cypro category). Cnt remember the name.but sept, I still had fever again. When I passed out oct I was fine till dec. 3months after fever again.now it seems to be a monthly thing since May as the bad weather is back. Does that mean I now have a weak immune system. It takes more than a year for me to get ill before I served. I intend to join the military this year as an officer. I have a small body, with no bp issues, I weigh approximately 55kg. The fevers I have are not always very serious that I can't eat. I do eat well, but u can tell I'm sick mere looking at me.
Hi ladepete
From the piece of information you gave, it seems you only treated yourself based on what you taught was your problem.

There are many causes of recurrent fever which malaria and typhoid are among. And also it is possible your immune system is weak.

I advice go for the following tests. MP, widal, FBC, and VCT. Your test result can give us a better clue on how to go about your treatment.

Again try as much as possible not to expose yourself to mosquito bite and be mindful of the water you drink.

Well I advice you not to bother yourself for God is in control. You don't have to wail like a child or. go to such extent to defend your church.

I can assure you that such testimonies cannot ruin your church if your church is of God. So stay focused on God and remain blessed.

Syncan: O purest of creatures! sweet Mother, sweet Maid;
The one spotless womb wherein Jesus was laid.
Dark night hath come down on us, Mother, and we
Look out for thy shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

2 Deep night hath come down on this rough-spoken world.
And the banners of darkness are boldly unfurled;
And the tempest-tossed Church—all her eyes are on thee.
They look to thy shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

3 He gazed on thy soul, it was spotless and fair;
For the empire of sin, it had never been there;
None ever had owned thee, dear Mother, but He,
And He blessed thy clear shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

4 Earth gave Him one lodging; ’twas deep in thy bre*st,
And God found a home where the sinner finds rest;
His home and His hiding-place, both were in thee;
He was won by thy shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

5 Oh, blissful and calm was the wonderful rest
That thou gavest thy God in thy virginal bre*st;
For the heaven He left He found heaven in thee,
And He shone in thy shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

God bless you F.W Faber. Ave! Mariae!

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Has Christianity Failed Among The Jews? by SalC: 1:20pm On Aug 07, 2013
Logicboy03: lol....and who was Jesus talking to?

THE JEWS

So, in short, Jesus was giving the Jews leadership over others. The Jews were in charge of spreading the Gospel.

Like I said, Jesus came for the Jews
That the gospel was first preached to the Jews doesn't mean it was for them alone. Mark 16v15 He said to them, Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to the whole human race.

You said Jesus was giving leadership to the Jews. Going by your stand, I don't see what is wrong in a Jew like Paul taking the gospel to the gentiles.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Has Christianity Failed Among The Jews? by SalC: 6:39am On Aug 07, 2013
Logicboy03: What does that have to do with Jewshuh
I least expect this from you. Seems you forgot easily. You said Jesus came for the Jews and Paul took his gospel to the gentiles. Now noblefada quoted from the bible where Jesus instructed that the gospel be preached to the whole world contrary to what you said and you are asking him what it has to do with the Jews?

The answer to your question is "It has everything to do with both Jews and Gentiles".

Nobody is disputing the fact that it was not written by Enoch.

Even if it was written in 200BC, there is no logical proof that it quoted Jude that was written after the birth of Jesus.
Christianity Etc › Re: On The Most Blessed Virgin Mary- Teachings Of The Early Church Fathers- by SalC: 7:30pm On Aug 06, 2013
superior1: I just showed you the author of that book wasn't Enoch. Compare when Enoch lived and the period this book came to existence (It is no calculus). The following are from the link you posted

Most scholars share the view[5] that these five sections were originally independent works (with different dates of composition), themselves a product of much editorial arrangement, and were only later redacted into what we now call 1 Enoch.

The older sections (mainly in the Book of the Watchers) are estimated to date from about 300 BC, and the latest part (Book of Parables) probably was composed at the end of the 1st century BC.[2]

Jesus was born in 6 BC, Enoch was alive then?
Are you guys discussing the authorship of The book of Enoch and the year it was written, or are you guys trying to show us who quote who between Jude and Enoch?.

May we always be compelled to do that which is beneficial not just to us but also to our fellow human beings irrespective of the race or religious affiliation.

What we lack in our world today may not necessarily be wealth or material possessions but LOVE.
If those whom God blessed decide to be a blessing to those whom they are better off than, our world will certainly be better than what it is today.

May God remove from us the heart of stone and give us the heart of flesh and may we always put God first in all we do.
