You singled out that verse what? It can easily be misunderstood if you quote it alone. Please start from verse one.

I've answered this question on this forum before. The truth is that non of those refered to as Jesus's brothers in the bible is actually a son of Mary. And the word adelphos which was translated as brother has a wide range of meanings.

It could be cousin, relative, kinsman of even countryman. It certainly does not always mean blood brother.

If you need scriptures to back this up let me know and I will gladly provide them at my leisure time.

Anyone is free to stay with me and practice his or her religion. My closest friend now is a staunch muslim yet on many occasions and for many reasons we've stayed together. Sometimes as roommate in our university days and other times as visitors. In few weeks to come she will be coming to spend four months with me and am eagerly anticipating her coming, certainly with her prayer mat, koran and kettle.

Notice that these people made themselves eunuch, that's to say they were not one before then. And Jesus did not mean that you should get yourself castrated. He meant that these people choose to celibacy for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.

That's what Rev Frs do.

For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so. ( GNB).

It has never cease to amaze me how any issue concerning the Catholic church is easily blown out of proportion. A simple interview where an arch bishop tried to clear the air has suddenly been amplified to mean something different.

To be candid, I believe we can be of greater help to our priests by praying for them.

Mescopaul: The bible made it clear that we should be fruitful and multiply, to this effect i see no reason why the Roman Catholic Church forbids their Reverends in engaging in marriage and thereby raising up families as the Lord has commanded. Forbidding to marry is it not a breech on the law of the bible and the family institution as a whole?

You can read Matt 19 v 12 and tell me what you understand by the statement Jesus made.

italo: Its Syria. Last week it seemed inevitable that the US would strike Syria. The Pope continued to appeal for peace but it seemed like all appeals were falling on deaf ears. The Pope called for a prayer vigil on Saturday for peace in Syria, asking the intercession of our blessed mother. Alas! They have come up with a solution that seems ddestined to avert a US war on Syria. Something that seemed to be shaping up into world war 3. The Russians have proposed that Syria hands over its chemical weapons to the international community...which the Syrians have agreed to.

The topic for today which had been announced and published for weeks was "God is interested in your case." During the homily, the Priest talked extensively on that. After that, he said we had two prayer points for today: prayer for happiness in marriage & prayer for fruit of the womb. (These were not previously announced).

You cant imagine how I felt when I heard that.

I have no doubt in my mind that God was speaking to you.
