jasper7: Why have we decided that every thing fresh food in Nigeria must be sold in dirty environment. The dirtiest places in Nigeria are not our Refuse dumps. but our fresh food market, from our slaughter slabs, to meat market to vegetable market and the rest of them. Are all very dirty. And the most pathetic part of it is that we the consumers are left with no choice that to take it as we see it.
Well, am looking to change that, I believe with the large consumer market Nigeria has, we should not be restricted to only one variety of crops or conditions.
I think a consumer should have a full description of what he or she is about to buy. And choose the one that is closest to the specifics he requires.
For example, a consumer has to know what specie of vegetable he's buying, under what conditions the vegetables were stored or produced, the chemical residue percentage of the product, the practise used in producing the crops (organic, inorganic, synthetic).
These and more are what we are looking to expose our people to and offer to them at still the best prices. You'd be able to order your weekly vegetable supply online and have it delivered to you at home.
These and more are the things we plan to offer in the farm being developed now
I am looking to changing the game. And by the special grace of God, we will. Good idea. Lovty idea. Its achievable. its realistic. If Zartech can do that very well in the processed chicken aspect, Chi Farms can do packaged for shelf eggs with the branded Funtuna eggs, why not vegetables and fruits? The world is waiting for this to come to fruition. I bets its our epileptic power problems that causes the rot in fruits and vegetable market. If their was stable power supply, Nigerians would have been thinking in that line knowing fully well their produce are secured. Then the issues of the cabals and Shyloks who are the dealers in the various markets. All those waste fruits and veggies are the supposed profits of the farmers because farmers have been shortchanged. They are at the mercies of these middlemen. |

Here you are proving my assumptions right. With no known address/shop or outlet.
@ innovationafrik, I've got no problems with you but I owe nairalanders a deep sense of duty to make them informed rightly. Please enlighten us better. |

jasper7: Great ideas sir. I can't put up the whole 20hectares for investment. That one is my own private investment .
Just straighten up this area for me, Are you saying it should be a 1 time investment?
I have a 100hectare integrated farm project that I am still working on called the "R" project. This one is just "a toe in the water". This is more like a contract farming.
I should be in Thailand by next month to negotiate that one. The market I have now for vegetables cannot be satisfied by 100hectares. so, it's a work in progress.
This is just a short term contract farm. because the land it's being set on is to be used for "Greater things" by myself and hotmas911. At the moment, I'll suggest one time investment for a year but most will want per season. Believing that all expenses will be catered for in the investment fund. I strongly believe in this project. Though, my greatest fear is 'the market". But I know the product will sell itself. Nairalanders must be employed in the distribution and sales of the products |
Agriculture › Re: Invest In My 20 Hectare Watermelon/cucumber Farm by saliubello(m): 1:29pm On Mar 17, 2015 |
This is taking shape now. I have the following questions: 1. What are you suggesting as the minimum investment? 2. Why dont you want to earnmark the entire farmland for the investment project? 3. Are we looking up to you or your team as the receiver of the investment fund?
My suggestions: 1. Float a business entity duly registered with the necessary arms of government. 2. Choose your team of hands on farmers. ( Innovationafrik, hotmass, Thai Agro are investors, their inputs are their share capital) 3. Receive investment funds from people. 4. Intensify the campaign for investment funds. 5. You are the managing director. 6. Each member plus director will be receiving salary and at the end of the year, declare profit and disburse fund as appropriate.
Such an arrangement has prospect to grow faster. Brand marketing will be more easier. Just thinking aloud! |

To get an accurate quotation and advice, kindly send the size of your farmland, the type of crop you want to grow, plant spacing, type of water source you have, capacity of your water pump (in case you want rain guns) and your plant density.
I don't discuss individual project case on Nairaland, its preferable to send me an email. Give me your contact details. |

Needless to trade banters. What are they training them in? Cutlass and hoe farming? No new innovations. No new tricks. No new agronomy practices. Examples of what I mean, use of mulching film, improved irrigation schemes, drip kits, greenhouse farming, hydroponics, improved fishery idea, plantation maintenance, mechanised farming in it true form. etc. Farm produce processing, storage, fabrication of substitutes for imported heavy machineries andso forth. |

LegatusGlaber: OK. I will make a suggestion based on experience, and could help you get it if you are ready Of course. Thats why Im here. Have you found something for me? Is it used or new one? I believe its here in Nigeria. I was at Dizzengulf Ibadan. Its not available. I only found a very smaller one to that posted up here. Let me have the details if you found one. Somewhere on Zoo road in Kano Sate. Exactly opposite the Zoo. There used to be a sewage evacuation company using this pump plus tractor. I dont know they are stil there. My contact person around there relocated so no means of reaching out |

ikenga67: Ok. I dont know about Nigeria. They have those here in the US (used and new) but its going to take time to get it to you. Just see if you can find it in Nigeria first and if you can't and definitely have to have one then I can help you search for it here but it will not get to you anytime soon. Sorry. My brother slow and steady win the race. The good side is the tyres for the trailer used is those of tipping trailers and so its got capacity to carry the 15k litres of slug. |

LegatusGlaber: What I mean is the rpm or the ratio to the electric motor, its horse power, etc. BTW, I suggest a screw pump for you, but then, the specs are necessary too. I must be honest I dont have details on rpm, volume, rate of discharge and all that. But I know if its big compared to the pictured here. it will do the job. |

Agriculture › Re: Please Assist Me To Source For This Sewage Pump ( Used Or New ) by saliubello(op): 3:57pm On Mar 04, 2015 |
yes. a dedicated tractor is available for that purpose. The pump is trash pump powered by PTO. Those gasoline/diesel honda, yamaha can do the job but not as effective when it comes to pump to a height. Of course the uses those mud pump to pump it into the fields from the pen sockaway. Very fowl smelling. Thats the bane of people living close to large farms. most expecially in cities |
Agriculture › Re: Please Assist Me To Source For This Sewage Pump ( Used Or New ) by saliubello(op): 3:08pm On Mar 04, 2015 |
LegatusGlaber: What are the pump specifications? I dont know its specifications but Its going to be bigger than the one posted up here. The one posted here pumps only water. But because of the sediments/slug that usually settle at the bottom of the pit ( main nutrient). |
