Politics12 Year Women Can Give Birth Safely-sheikh Abubakar Gumi by sambas(op): 11:23am On Jul 22, 2013
Respected Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has joined the fray on the issue of child bride by saying that women can deliver children at 12 safely and thus there isnt such a big deal with early marriage. Gumi made the revelation on his Facebook page.

as usual, NaijaPundit brings you the statement below;

WHO DETERMINES THE MARRIAGE AGE LIMIT?

Definitely it will not be a bunch of liberal senators in a country majority of its citizen are Muslims. Marriage is a sacrosanct religious contract. The secular constitution has already given, two consensual adults (biological) the consent to engage in sexual intercourse, so what is all this encroachment on religious sensitivities of people. It is truly mischievous.

On religious issues that are liable to different interpretation, Islam has accepted that only a medically scientific reason can alter a decision.

Medically, from the age of 12, some girls can be mothers. They can bear children and deliver them safely. Now in the west, despite the laws against underage marriage (less than 18), thousands of hundreds still gets pregnant out of illegal sexual activities. Islam as pragmatic Religion thus permit any individual, matured to engage in legal marriage to embrace all categories of human desires and protect teenagers from irresponsible pregnancy. A married pregnant teen is absolutely in safer socio-economic state of affairs than one in an illegitimate teen pregnancy.

“About 93,000 teenagers, 8,000 of them under the age of 16, become pregnant in Britain each year. Just over half the pregnancies of those under 16 end in abortion. In the West, only Canada, New Zealand and the United States have higher rates.” The Prime Minister Tony Blair on learning that two other 12- year-olds were pregnant by their teen-age boyfriends had to call for a "new national moral purpose" and in June 2000, the government announced a $96 million plan aimed at cutting in half the number of teen pregnancies. The government also plans a major overhaul of sex education and contraceptive services, which will be publicized more openly and made more accessible”. [CNN oct11,99.]

May Allah protect us all from the Dajjal of this era.

PoliticsSEE 16-year-old Canadian-nigerian Girl Makes Beat For Jay-z’s New Album by sambas(op): 2:40pm On Jul 06, 2013
Ebony Oshunrinde, a 16-year
old Canadian-Nigerian girl(photo
above), known as WondaGurl , has
been listed in the credits for Jay-
Zs new album, Magna Carta
Holy Grail.
Ebony, who resides in Brampton,
southern Ontario, was credited for
the track ‘Crown’.
“It’s a really good feeling. I want
to show young people that they
can do it. Anybody can be
successful. It doesn’t matter
where you’re from” the elated
beat maker expressed her delight
on being featured by one of the
greatest rapper in the world.
The teenage self-taught producer
is reported to have started
making her own beats after
watching a video showing Jay-Z
and mega producer Timbaland
working in the studio together on
the album.
“It inspired me and I wanted to
do the exact same thing that he
did,” she said.
At age 9, WondaGurl downloaded
music software and taught herself
how to use it from watching
YouTube videos, amazed by the
idea of creating something from
scratch.
She came up with her name,
WondaGurl, by swapping around
the name of one of her favourite
Canadian producers.
A year ago, after winning
Toronto’s Battle of the Beat
Makers competition at only 15,
Oshunrinde got serious about her
music. She signed on with Black
Box, the same label as Classified,
and started working in a studio.
The beat that landed on Jay-Z’s
album began with a reggae song.
Oshunrinde sampled the music
and added her own twist using
computer software.
“It has a lot of bass and a lot of
bounce,” she explained.
She worked on her beat once and
sent it to Travis Scott, a young
rapper and producer from
Houston who met Oshunrinde last
year. He happened to be working
in the studio with Jay-Z when she
sent him her beat.
A few days later, Oshunrinde was
at home with her brother and
sister when her phone buzzed.
“He texted me and said, ‘I’m
about to change your life,”
Oshunrinde said.
When Scott told her that her cut
made it on to Jay-Z’s album, she
thought it was a joke.
“Usually that doesn’t really
happen to 16-year-olds,” the teen
said.
And when she told her mother
the good news, she cried.
Oshunrinde has never met Jay-Z
and, like everyone else, had to
wait for the digital release on July
4 to hear “Crown.”
She just got her passport last
year, and hopes she’ll meet the
rap mogul when she travels to
the usa soon. source: Pakurumo Entertainment

PoliticsA Little History For U Today "ANINI". . by sambas(op): 3:00pm On Jun 17, 2013
.
.
A good history lesson
aboutLawrence 'the Law' Anini,
alias Ovbigbo, the most Notorious
armed robber in Nigeria's history!
Please Read for your pleasure to
refreshing your memory..
How notorious robbery kingpin,
Lawrence Anini terrorised Benin
Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini,
Nigeria’s acclaimed most notorious
armed robber, was born
sometimesin 1960. He terrorised
the old Bendel State, especially its
capital, Benin City in the 1980s,
but in 1986, his robbery exploits
reached a terrific level that it
became anational issue. He
operated along with his lieutenant,
Monday Osunbor, and others.
However, one striking feature in
the Anini reign of terror was the
police complicity. It was soon
discovered that the Anini gang had
insiders within the police hierarchy
of which George Iyamu, a Deputy
Superintendent of Police, was their
arrowhead.
Anini, dreadfully called ‘The Law’
or ‘Ovbigbo’, was born in a village
about 20 miles from Benin City.
He migratedto Benin at an early
age, learned to drive and became
a skilled taxi driver in a few years.
He became known in Benin motor
parksas a man who could
controlthe varied competing
interest among motor park touts
and operators. He later resorted
to criminal acts in the city and
soon became a driver and
transporter for gangs, criminal
godfathers and thieves. Later on,
he decided to create his own gang
and they started out ascar
hijackers, bus robbers and bank
thieves. Gradually, he extended
his criminal acts to other towns
and cities far north and east of
Benin.
The complicity of the police is
believed to have triggeredAnini’s
reign of terror in 1986. In early
1986, two members of his gang
were tried and prosecuted
againstan earlier under-the-table
‘agreement’ with the police to
destroy evidence against the gang
members. The incident, and
Anini’s view of police betrayal, is
believed to have spurred
retaliatory actions by Anini. In
August, 1986, a fatal bank robbery
linked to Anini was reportedin
which a police officer andothers
were killed. That same month, two
officers onduty were shot at a
barricade while trying to stop
Anini’s car. During a span of three
months, he was known to have
killed nine police officers.In an
operation in August of1986, the
Anini team struck at First Bank,
Sabongida-Ora,where they carted
away N2, 000. But although the
amount stolen was seen as chicken
feed, they left the scene with a
trail of blood. Many persons were
killed.
On September 6, same year,the
Anini gang snatched a Peugeot 504
car from AlbertOtoe, the driver of
an Assistant Inspector General of
Police, Christopher Omeben. In
snatching the car, they killed the
driver and went to hide his
corpsesomewhere. It was not until
three months later that the
skeleton of the driver was spotted
16 kilometers away from Benin,
along the Benin-Agbor highway. A
day after this attack, Anini,
operating in a Passat car believed
to have been stolen, also effected
the snatching of another Peugeot
504 car near the former FEDECO
office, in Benin.
Two days after, the Anini men
killed two policemen inOrhiowon
Local Governmentof the state. Still
in that month, three different
robbery attacks, all pointing to
Anini’s involvement, took place.
They include the murder of Frank
Unoarumi, aformer employee of
the Nigerian Observer newspapers;
the killing of Mrs. Remi Sobanjo, a
chartered accountant, and the
stealing of the MercedesBenz car
in Benin, of the Ughelli monarch,
the Ovie.
Before September, 1986 drew to a
close, Anini, now steaming hot and
an elusivedread, struck at a gas
stationalong Wire Road, Benin,
where he stole a substantial part
of the day’s sales. He shot the
Station’s attendant and gleefully
started spraying his booty along
theroad for people to pick.
The height of Anini’s exploits,
however, took place on October 1,
1986, the Independence Day when
the state’s Commissioner of Police,
Casmir Igbokwe was ambushed by
the gang in Benin, and nearly
yanked offhis nose in a hail of
bullets. The police boss survived
the attacks with serious injuries.
Earlier that day also,the Anini
men had gunned down a police
man within the city
Also, on October 21 of same year,
the Anini robbery gang terminated
thelife of a Benin-based medical
doctor, A.O Emojeve when they
gunnedhim down along Textile Mill
Road, in Benin. Not done, Anini
and gang went and robbed the
Agbor branch ofAfrican Continental
Bank andcarted away about N46,
000.A day after the operation,
Anini, The Law, turned to a ‘Father
Christmas’ as he strew wads of
naira notes on the ground for free
pick by market men and women
at a village near Benin.
Anini’s image thus loomed larger
than life, dwarfing those of Ishola
Oyenusi, theking of robbers in the
1970sand Youpelle Dakuro, the
army deserter whovicious daylight
robbery in Lagos in 1978, in which
twopolicemen were killed.
Aninithus spear-headed a four-
month reign of terror between
August and December 1986. Anini
also reportedly wrote numerous
letters to media houses using
political tones of Robin Hood-like
words, to describe his criminal
acts.
My friend, where is Anini?
Worried by the seeming
elusiveness of Anini and his gang
members, the military President,
General Ibrahim Babangida then
ordered a massive manhunt for
the kingpin and his fellow robbers.
The police thus went after them,
combing every part of Bendel
State where they were reportedly
operating and living. The whole
nation was gripped with fear of the
robbers andtheir daredevil
exploits.
However, Police manhunt failed to
stop their activities; the more they
were hunted, the more intensified
their activities became.
Some of the locals in the area
even began to tell stories of their
invincibility and for a while, it felt
like they were never going to be
caught.
However, at the conclusion of a
meeting of the Armed Forces
Ruling Council in October 1986,
General Babangida turned to the
Inspector- General of Police, Etim
Inyang, and asked, ‘My friend,
where is Anini?’.
At about this time, Nigerian
newspapers and journals were also
publishing variousreports and
editorials on the‘Anini Challenge’,
the ‘Anini Saga’, the ‘Anini Factor’,
‘Lawrence Anini – the Man, the
Myth’, ‘Anini, Jack the Ripper’, and
‘Lawrence Anini:A Robin Hood in
Bendel’. The Guardian asked,
emphatically, in one of its reports:
‘Will they ever find Anini, “The
Law”?’.
His arrest
Finally, it took the courage of
Superintendent of Police, Kayode
Uanreroro to bring the Anini reign
of terror to an end. On December
3, 1986, Uanreroro caught Anini
at No 26, Oyemwosa Street,
opposite Iguodala Primary School,
Benin City, in company with six
women.Acting on a tip-off from
the locals, the policeman went
straight to the house where Anini
was hiding and apprehended him
with very little resistance.
Uanreroro led a crack 10-man
team to the house, knocked on
the door of the room, and
Aninihimself, clad in underpants,
opened the door. “Where is
Anini,” the police officer quickly
enquired.
Dazed as he was caught off guard
and having no escaperoute, Anini
all the same tried to be smart.
“Oh, Anini is under the bed in the
innerroom”. As he said it, he
made some moves to walk past
Uanreroro and his team. In the
process, he shoved and head-
butted thepolice officer but it was
an exercise in futility.Uanreroro
promptly reachedfor his gun,
stepped hard onAnini’s right toes
and shot athis left ankle. Anini
surged forward but the policemen
took hold of him and put him in a
sitting position. They then pumped
more bullets into his shot leg and
almost severed the ankle from his
entire leg. Already, anguished by
the excruciating pains, the
policemen asked him, “Are you
Anini?” And he replied, “My
brother, I won’t deceive you; I
won’t tell you lie, I’m Anini.”
He was from there taken to the
police command headquarters
where the state’s Police
Commissioner,Parry Osayande, was
waiting.While in the police net,
Aniniwho had poor command of
English and could only
communicate in pidgin, made a
whole lot of revelations. He
disclosed, for instance that
Osunbor, who had been arrested
earlier, was his deputy, saying that
Osunbor actuallyshot and wounded
the former police boss of the
state, Akagbosu
Anini was shot in the leg,
transferred to a military hospital,
and had one of his legs
amputated. That was after Monday
Osunbor was also captured.
When Anini’s hideout was
searched, police recovered
assorted charms, including the one
he usually wore around his waist
during “operations”.
It was instructive that after Anini
was captured and dispossessed of
his charms, the man who
terrorised a whole state and who
was supposed to be fearless
suddenly became remorseful,
making confessions. This was
against public expectation ofa
daredevil hoodlum who would
remain defiant to the very end.
Revelations on Iyamu, others
Shortly after the arrest of Anini
and co, the dare-devil robbers
began to squeal, revealing the
roles played by key police officers
and men, in the aid ing and
abetting of criminals in Bendel
State and the entire country. Anini
particularly revealed that Iyamu,
who was the most senior police
officer shielding the robbers,would
reveal police secrets to them and
then, give themlogistic supports
such as arms, to carry out robbery
operations.
He further revealed that Iyamu,
after each operation,would join
them in sharing the loot. It was
further exposed how Iyamu
planned to kill Christopher
Omeben, an Assistant Inspector-
General of Police in charge of
Intelligence and Investigation. But
Iyamu was later to be
disappointed as the assailants
dispatched to eliminate Omeben
were onlyable to kill his driver,
Otue, asergeant.
Iyamu, whom the robbers fondly
referred to as ‘Baba’, reportedly
had choice buildings in Benin City;
being how he invested the loots
he obtained from men of the
underworldDue to amputation of
his leg, Anini was confined to a
wheelchair throughout his trial.
Iyamu, on his part, denied ever
knowing and collaborating with
Anini, but Anini The Law furiously
retorted, “You are a shameless
liar!” Anini had accused him
before Justice James Omo-Agege
in the High Court of Justice, off
Sapele Road in Benin City. Of the
10 police officers Anini implicated,
five were convicted. The robbery
suspects, including Iyamu, were
sentenced to death.
But in passing his judgement,
Justice Omo-Agege remarked,
“Anini will forever be
remembered in the history of
crime in this country, but it would
be of unblessed memory. Few
people if ever,would give the
name to their children.” Their
execution took place on March 29,
1987..

Romance30 Things Every Woman Should Haveby 30 by sambas(op): 10:47am On May 23, 2013
If you are a woman close to your
thirties, this is my list of 30 things
you should have:
1. An education – This is the best
investment you could ever make in
your life. Continue learning because as
long as you keep learning, you keep
growing.
2. A vocation: In addition to your
education, become a professional in
your career or area of specialisation.
Get trained and get the necessary
qualifications.
3. A savings account in your own
name (and enough money in it) – One
of the wisest investments you can make
is starting a savings account early.
Apportion at least 10% of your
earnings to this account and watch it
grow.
4. A sense of humor, style and
purpose – Humor is very attractive and
will get you through some tough
patches. A sense of style lets you stand
out from your peers and having
purpose ensures you pursue your goals
with focus.
5. The wisdom to fall in love with
your eyes open – Know what you want
out of your love relationships and avoid
being carried away with the ‘feeling’ of
love.
6. The perfect suit to wear for a job
interview – As you move higher in life,
there’s sure to be numerous job
interviews. You never get a second
chance to make a first impression, so
make sure your suit gives the very best
first impression.
7. A set of matching luggage – You
may need to go on vacation sometime.
Do it in style with your set of matching
luggage.
8. A matching set of lacy bikini –
Who knows? You may need to relax at
the beach when you go off on that
vacation or go for a swim anytime
soon. Make sure your bikini is just
perfect for the occasion.
9. A recipe for a meal you are almost
perfect at – Even if it’s something
basic, make sure you are almost
perfect at preparing one complete
meal.
10. A first love (and several other
loves) – The magic of first love is as
painful when it’s over, but the best part
of it is that after you cry your eyes out,
you let go and become wiser. And
when you love again, you will know how
to keep it. This time, longer.
11. A broken heart (and the
knowledge that you can survive it) –
A broken heart means that you tried…
at least. Only time (and girlfriends) can
heal your broken heart. You can survive
it….and love again.
12. One friend that makes you
laugh….and one you can always run
to– What can we do without close
friends? Make friends for life and be a
friend yourself.
13. A childhood you are grateful for
(though not perfect) – None of us
chose our childhood, but we can be
grateful for all it taught us (perfect or
not).
14 . A plan for the future you are
looking forward to – Without a plan for
your future, how do you know when
you get there? Sit down with yourself
and write where you see yourself in 3,
5, 10 years and make a plan to get
there.
15. A good skin care routine –
Glowing skin is the dream of every
woman. But it does not just happen.
Get a good skin care regimen that is
best for your skin type and watch your
skin glow.
16. A good hairdresser – A woman’s
hair is her crowning glory. Get a
hairdresser who understands your hair
and can help you maintain it in the
best possible way.
17. A tailor who can make drop dead
outfits – The way you dress is the way
you will be addressed. Get a tailor who
knows what style really is.
18. A spiritual foundation and faith in
God – Maintaining a relationship with
God is the best foundation for life. He
is your creator and redeemer, so get
closer to Him each passing day.
19. A drop dead gorgeous photo of
yourself - to remind you that you are
beautiful.
20. A best friend – If you fall down,
your best friend will pick you up. If you
need a hand or a shoulder to cry on,
your best friend will be there.
21. A dream - it all starts with a
dream. Dream! Let your imagination
run wild while you fill up a blank sheet
of paper with everything you want to
be, do or have. This will keep you
going even in the tough times.
22. The phone number of someone
who will drop everything and come
when you call.
23. A perfectly fitted bra - Wearing
the right sized bra is comfortable,
helps your posture and aids the lymph
flow inside your breasts. Also, since
your breasts will spend most of their
time in a bra, should they not be
comfortable?
24. A pair of jeans that fit just right -
Most ladies will wear a pair of jeans at
least once a week. Jeans can also be
worn for informal and semi-formal
events. Having one that fits just right
would make you stand out from the
crowd.
25. A handbag you can never get
tired of - Handbags are one of those
accessories a lady can’t do without. A
nice, reasonably sized leather handbag
will always do the trick.
26. An average proficiency in
Microsoft Word and Excel – No matter
who you are or what you do, you need
to be computer savvy. Start with basic
Microsoft Word and Excel, but don’t
stop there.
27. Confidence – You are a woman.
You are important. Carry yourself as
one.
28. Humility – Modesty and an
unassuming nature are not signs of
weakness. Only a very strong and
confident person can be humble.
Refuse to get puffed up but remain
humble.
29. The guts to say No without
feeling guilty – People will always need
you to do things for them. Do as much
as you can but never choke yourself
just to please people. Sometimes you
just need to say No.
30. A competitive streak: A desire to
be the best and to stand out from the
crowd. Make yourself more productive
so that you remain relevant.

HealthHow To Make Your Teeth 'snowwhite' by sambas(op): 3:10pm On May 21, 2013
Put a tiny bit of toothpaste into a
small cup,
mix in one teaspoon baking soda
plus one
teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, and
half a
teaspoon water.
Thoroughly mix then brush your
teeth for two minutes. Remember to
do it once a week until you have
reached the results you want. Once
your teeth are good and white, limit
yourself to using the
whitening treatment once every
month or two.

The registrar of JAMB, Prof
Ojerinde was on NTA Weekend
Live today, 18th May and the
following comments were
extracted from his interview...
- Over 700,000 candidates have
chance to get into school this
year (those with 180 and above).
- Candidates who tried to cheat
were given Types A,B,C,D when
the types were composed of
D,I,B,U (From his name initials)...
he asked, where did the students
get type A and C expo from?
Confirming all expos were Fake
and a SCAM.
- He also talked about students
no longer serious to study as
most of them failed to read the 2
novels recommended by JAMB
from which questions were set.
- If you think your script was not
marked well, come over as from
June 1st and challenge JAMB to
get your script remarked. If
there's an error, they'll give you
N100,000.
From our personal deduction, the
JAMB cut-off will not be reduced!
