PoliticsRe: Igbos Have Hijacked The Nigerian Economy- Junaid Muhammed by SamIkenna: 11:07pm On Oct 26, 2014
ProfCorruption:
The point is what Junaid said was reprehensible and totally uncalled for. Junaid is one man that the press should seek to avoid.

1. Instead of condemning him and move on or even possibly call for his arrest, some sought to link him with APC. Not because they didn't know Junaid is not a fan of APC but to extract maximum political benefit in a way of poisoning the minds of APC leaning Igbos.

2.Some wanted to use his caustic views to score cheap historical points.

3.Some used it to issue a blanket generalizations of Igbo this or Igbo that.

We all need to move on and move forward.
Everything is politics. We're in an intense political season so its plausible that what Junaid said was aimed at inciting and galvanizing the average northerner for the battle ahead. Think about it - why attack SW? It makes no sense at all whether he's an APC card carrying member or not. The last time he attacked SW on the pages of Punch News (why Punch regularly interviews Junaid is beyond me) was when Northern hope for returning to Aso Rock was hinged on PDP (I suggest you read that piece to see what kind of men you share nationality with). Now that APC is glaringly hausa-Fulani's vehicle for, once again, assuming the leadership of their great grand father's estate and, rightly or wrongly, Igbos are seen as the great obstacle to the dream....obviously he has to attack. So, its political - which is why APC is getting jabs.

But you're right, it's time to move on and hopefully you'll move on too.

Oga sociologist, I asked you a simple question but you went dancing azonto. You claimed Igbo stopped the first coup, please tell who planned the first coup? (a) Yoruba (b) Hausa (c) Fulani (d) Hausa+Fulani+Igbo (e) Igbo (f) I don't know
3 or 4 Igbos and 1 Yoruba, so it's none of the above.

Did you check punch before sounding this false alarm? Bro I suggest you commit to regular re-appraisal of your stands. To put it mildly and respectfully they're, for the most part, a little unsettling.
PoliticsRe: Igbos Have Hijacked The Nigerian Economy- Junaid Muhammed by SamIkenna:
ibedun:
Truth be told, everybody went to sleep having won the civil war. The Igbos had to survive and had to stay awake to ensure that survival. It has paid off wonderfully and Igbos are enjoying the fruit of their hussle. A huge percentage of Igbo people are still poor (like others in Nigeria) at home and in diaspora. Most of the huge investments outside Igboland are funded directly from Federal government allocation which explains the absense of government and infrastructure in Igboland. Igbos collectvely are not winning as much as they think. The sentiments expressed by OGA up North (Junaid) should not be ignored and Igbo need for space outside their small plot of land will bring dangerous confrontation with host communities in the next 10 to 20 years.
In other words some of the bad-blood against Igbos can be attributed to jealousy. At least your honesty is a bit refreshing.

At any rate, Nigeria is doomed, no need to sweeten it. It's people like Junaid, arch beneficiaries of quota system, that are fighting dirty to keep their weakening hold on Nigeria. Of course we all know Igbo is their natural target which is why they wasted no time in creating a messianic image of themselves to our eastern brothers after the civil war while demonizing the Igbos as implacable bogey men. Today the tide is turning against the jihadist but again, not realizing that the old playbook needs an update, they've resorted to the same old same old.

I have no doubt that the reason GEJ has not been impeached or overthrown is because the jihadist know who they're involving. They know the old alliance is falling apart hence the empty threats and incitement. If it were in old days they would've marched their boys down to Ask Rock and sacked the occupier.

We've figured them out - we've seen they don't like to work for anything. It's not in their DNA to roll their sleeves and get to work. They want paid emirate system and choice oil blocks irrespective of their lack of historical connection to even a sqr inch of land in this Dan fodio's estate. They despise competition for excellence in any field of human endeavor.

Just name it - the Fulani and their handbag, Hausa, do not suffer gladly anyone that makes them struggle for even a miniscule result. Just as Sarduana never forgave Awo for making him step out of cocoon to campaign, Junaid and his retinue of freeloaders, will always be up in arms against Igbo for making them sweat for presidency in this century. But we're not detered one bit, neither shall we abandon one of the responsibilities of Igbo in a United Nigeria which is to make sure all manner of national free lunch to lazy bums is buried forever.

Junaid is ranting...and we haven't even started.

A child that says his mother will not sleep will, himself, never know sleep. Junaid and co should start learning how life works outside Ask Rock like we did. No jihadist threat will make us allow Buhari smell that chair, so go on Junaid we're rooting for you.

Obiagelli:
Quick question, should resource control be gradual or instant?
The general spoke about diversifying the economy, agriculture and mining, after which we can talk of resource control. Let every region, every state and local government develop the ability to stand on its own before you can hand them control else some regions will be at great disadvantage
Resource control should be gradual while political restructuring should proceed with lightning speed. In the interview the General didn't even acknowledge these two nagging issues and we know why: his kinsmen benefit immensely from the center, from structural lopsidedness, and from outdated and vile quota system. He knows better than to change the system that's created 'Goliath' out of a foreign tribe, Fulani.

I do not belong to the school of thought that believes corruption must be fought and won from Abuja. Corruption needs to be won at the regional level and for that to happen all regional groupings or compatible enclaves need to be in full charge of their political, social, and economic lives and that includes, but not limited to, being in control of their God-given resources both in and on the earth. That is the way forward because as long as sharing goes on in Abuja corruption will only get worse. So fighting the monster in Abuja is merely whitewashing a sepulchre - One govt comes in and fights it, the next comes and does nothing - is that what we want?

It's perhaps true that he might fight corruption but what's also true is that he's coming to perpetuate the current system we all despise as well as entrench Fulani hegemony even deeper.

I admire Buhari in some areas, in a lot of areas to be frank, but I do not want him (for 3 reasons) as the president of a secular and diverse Nigeria. The country, at this juncture, can use less divisive people.
PoliticsRe: Igbos Have Hijacked The Nigerian Economy- Junaid Muhammed by SamIkenna:
Junaid, a Fulani, said Igbos do not have historical claim to Abuja which on its face value is largely true. But my question is: do Fulanis have historical claim to even a piece of land in Nigeria?

What many do not understand is that some groups are relevant today because Nigeria is a messy geographical expression - as soon as it's gone things will change. I have no doubt that Fulanis have been using Nigeria as a way to ride shot-gun on the Hausas and other Northern Minorities, that ride will be over the moment Nigeria is gone.

Amechi is fooling himself. It seems he's ready to throw caution in the wind just to paint GEJ black. When did GEJ say Hausa man is the enemy of River state? I know Amechi is scared that if APC loses Rivers he's likely going to pay but must he burn his people because of his new found love for 'Hausa man?' 2015 will be interesting.

After reading everything, i said two prayers. They are: 1.may God push gej/pdp out next year.
2. May God give GMB/APC victory against the killer party of Nigeria.
NB: he is the only officer in the nigerian army to have controlled 3 divisions out of 4. You cant beat that!!!
He's such an intelligent man.
What makes him intelligent? He couldn't answer simple questions on resource control and political restructuring and you call that intelligence? Controlling 3 out of 4 divisions...... Asari Dokubo, Joseph Kony, Jonas Savimbi, or even Shekau has at one time or the other controlled units that arguably are more complex than Nigerian divisions that can't measure up to Rwanda's.

A man that stole the mandate my parents gave to a democratically elected govt over 20 something yrs ago came back in this day and age with a story of how he commanded 3 divisions and some of us want to roll out the drums?

GMB would be, at best, a lab cleaner in his youth in an ideal world. Reading through his answers I thought it was my peers and I practicing for one of our primary school quizzes that intermittently took place at Saint Joseph primary school, Isinweke. Believe me, we sure did better than him.
PoliticsRe: What A Popular UK News Website Wrote About Our Governor Fashola! by SamIkenna: 1:19am On Oct 26, 2014
If Fashola actually did what the UK news reported, which in my estimation is closer to the truth, why then are some people working to have Fashola play second fiddle to Buhari, a man Fashola towers over in almost all indices? I don't get it. Why do we insist on compromises that put aside our shining amours for dingy ones?

Fashola is perhaps a fella one can trust with his woman - he is just that good, hence the reason a wide breadth of Nigerians love and support him. I'm saddened that some forces are bent on putting this gentle being in a core of fiery lava. Being a gov of the only true Nigeria's melting-pot is not moi-moi and, in my opinion, qualifies him to take a shot at the presidency. This is a guy that rarely talks and when he does he only talks about issues. He's the type we need now but if he's not taking a shot then we'll keep what we have already.
PoliticsRe: Exclusive Interview: I'm Not Opposed To Muslim-Muslim Ticket--Buhari by SamIkenna: 10:09pm On Oct 25, 2014
Resource control and restructuring got him off the rail.

GMB is arguably the most honest contender in 2015 election but he'll be up against some heck of immovable forces. If we were previously unsure about his stand on some issues that we believe must be addressed for Nigeria to actually be make a headway, now we're in the clear.

He wants to secure Nigeria - fine. But he also wants a continuation of the current vile and repulsive economic and political structure.

Its either he doesn't understand what resource control and political restructuring are or hes playing dumbo. Either way, too bad for him. Couple that with the fact that he comes from a region that never wants Nigeria restructured, then you get the idea that, perhaps, he's not dumbo after all.
PoliticsRe: Still On Gen. M. Buhari: Nigeria 2015 by SamIkenna:
I like Buhari's people - very dogged and unyielding. Unfortunately, the closest GMB will ever get to presidency is in Arewa house with Ango, Junaid, and Bugaje as his inner-circle. And for the records - I think its important he leads Arewa house because then he can focus on what's very close to Arewa's heart: pure wahabi Islam from Saudi and Omar Bashir's Sudan.

Buhari is a great man for Islam, sharia, and Fulani heritage (sacking of indigenous peoples to make way for cattle forage). But as a citizen and indigene of the land of the rising sun, I don't see how I factor in the above (Buhari's) equation.

Let every man serve his God in his own house - Buhari to Arewa, my family and I to the sun that will never set.

If the op's 'great pitch' is for 2015, then he has a long road ahead, a very very long road. Any man that has advocated for wholesale sharia implementation in an edgy and dangling society such as ours deserves a kick to teeth. It doesn't matter whether the advocate has the capacity to implement his satanic law, provided he has at one time wished it done - that's all that matters.

I do not want Buhari in prison for supporting a constitutional subversion that resulted in body-bags. At the minimum I just want him home to serve his Lord and Sharia-giver. He has done enough, good or bad, so its time he rested in his Katsina home with his wives. This the time is for less divisive people like Duke, Utomi, Ribadu, Wole Soyinka, Chime, Fashola, Oshomole, Atiku, and many more.

Electing Buhari will amount to error in judgement on the side of people benefiting unperturbed from 'One Nigeria.' Having the vote to push him into Aso Rock doesn't in any way equate to having the capacity to stop others from abandoning 'One Nigeria' for good. I advise they take heed to Sheik Gumi's warning or push the general and let geine out of the bottle. And once its out, we will make sure any resolution equals dissolution. So op, keep the pitch coming, its good for sales.
PoliticsRe: APC Southwest Caucus Endorses Buhari/fashola Ticket As The Only Way To Beat GEJ by SamIkenna:
My people say that whoever the gods want to kill, they first make deaf - to that end I say: GMB/Fashola all way! May you and your enablers never stop this train.

As much as I wished Fashola was spared the looming earthquake (considering he's better educated and qualified to be president, not VP to a known religious bigot), its imperative to state that he's the one walking himself into this proven and unstable minefield.

Its interesting to see that an openly avowed sharia monger is about to be accompanied to Aso Rock with another Muslim....lol! I'm now certain, and happy too, that these fellas don't get it. I'm happy because it seems like finally the question on whether Nigeria is to be or not to be is about to be answered without firing a single shot.

Fashola is great, no doubt about that. But if the option is between Fashola and my homeland I suspect the answer is obvious.

No one can help GMB because he's the architect of his perpetual unelectable state. Okadigbo didn't change his luck, Pastor Bakare didn't save him in 2011, Now they want to hang a fellow Muslim around the general's neck in 2015, lol. Like I said, they don't get it.

Fashola maybe mentally tough but from my observation, and I might be wrong, he seems like a soft spoken and gentle fellow. I do not want him to get in the cross-fire of what's to come. Let no man fool himself into believing that 2015 is about a change of 'incompetent' leadership for a 'competent' one - No, not at all. 2015 is about resorting back to being the usual spectators vs taking charge of our future, and we will not apologize for choosing our future. And may I add that that future is one devoid of Hausa-Fulani and their 'handbags' butchering and enslaving us in this Lugardian penitentiary.

My guess is that in 2015 Nigeria will likely have two presidents - One for Arewa and her followers and the other for the rest of us who, for ages, wish to have nothing to do with lovers and seekers of sharia and extreme wahabi Islam. We were neither brothers nor compatriots in this Dan Fodio's estate to begin with so why continue the pretense?

The choices in 2015 couldn't be ever more clearer. Come rain or shine, we will be on ground before Feb 22 to up the ante and provide support wherever or however we can.

You wouldn't even vote for a Jesus/John The Baptist combo if APC put them forward. Stop deceiving yourself. By now everyone on here knows you trick and sees through your scam. We know that your job here is to try and convince people who are still on the fence but leaning towards Buhari to insist that he should be ditched for a less popular candidate so that GEJ can have a free ride. You have failed! Buhari has a guaranteed 12million votes, plus millions of new converts. In contrast, it is clear to all that GEJ has lost support by the millions while barely gaining any new ones, so your continuous rants from thread to thread is kind of understandable.

I know you gotta eat, but I'd hate to be you right now. Your job seems to be a hard one and probably costs more than its really worth.
How is Arewa seeing the ceasefire news? Do you know if they're pressing on their boy, Shekau, to temporarily sheath the sword pending the outcome of 2015 or are we about to be entertained by Ango, Junaid, and Bugaje, your mentors, with atrocious rhetorical skills? What should we expect and how should I prepare for Arewa's press release?

And while you're at it, when is your flight back to north America due? For a supposedly American you seem to be spending so much time in Nigeria. Are you training for jihad in Sambisa or what? I mean, throughout the Ebola scare you still stayed put in Nigeria and managed to beat it .....man you must be one tough Whitey. Honestly, you are one hell of a tough American to have made it through ebola scare in Nigeria whereas my buddy and I cancelled our engagements to west African countries during the entire time. Now Ebola is here with us.....maybe you should come back home and 'speak-the-truth' to Obama and the GOP.

Don't be scared, homeland security probably won't arrest you for working for Shekau and Arewa, after all US and UK have always wanted a core northern dummy to lead Nigeria so you're in the clear.

Come home and help us, help us! Who would have believed that small Liberia would sink us like this. It's not funny. speak-the-truth please come home and speak your truth to us, your country men, before Ebola drives me back to Nigeria's hell or to cold and liberal Canada where they'll expect me to leave my doors unlocked. can't take it anymore, lol.

I will cast my vote for GEJ is the choice is Buhari. But if APC fields Fashola, Ribadu, Utomi, Fayemi, etc - I will vote for APC. I will not vote for Muslim-Muslim ticket and certainly will not vote for any man that has openly supported the implementation of Sharia nation-wide.

I can count how many body-bags I saw from sharia implementation during OBJ's tenure. I'm speaking from what I saw not what I was told - my innocence as a youth was shattered by the Sharia in the north and its reprisal in the EAST.

How a supposedly national leader would support such evil, knowing the edge Nigeria was on, is beyond me. It only explains that such leader is a dangerous and sectional individual that's no better than Milosevic and his likes. If APC fields Atiku I might consider him - might, no guarantees. My reason is simple: during Sharia crisis Atiku stood up and demanded it be stopped, but Buhari went with northern Islamic flow. In fact, not only will I not vote for Buhari I shall go the extra length of sponsoring, inducing, and remorselessly campaigning for a separate state for my people should Buhari wins.
PoliticsRe: Buhari/fashola Ticket: Opinion Of A SW Christian by SamIkenna: 4:26pm On Oct 20, 2014
I'm getting the impression that many people think the elites divided the country into religious camps. This notion is largely flawed. The elites didn't, to a large extent, divide it rather the society drifted and evolved into bitter ethnic and religious camps.

Before we put the blame squarely on elites feet we need to take a look at other nations that have highly visible and defined differences. How are they faring? Are they also divided much like we are?

The elites are good at pauperizing the masses but that's more or less about it. To attribute all the bitter differences emanating from our different political and historical evolution to the elite is simply seeking for a scapegoat. Even the British knew we would not work so why are we blaming phantom elites for our un-bridgeable ethnic and religious bickering? Go to Spain, UK, China, India, CAR, Congo, Yemen, Indonesia, Philippine, even in the US Texas is always threatening to leave the Union. The list is endless.

Today we see the carnage going on in Ukraine and Chechen, Iraqi and Turkish Kurds at each other's throat - these are realities of modern nations that aren't really nations in true sense. Nigeria is not from another planet, we're part of humanity and as such we reason and act like the rest of mankind. Each time we wake up and read how ISIS beheaded this and that, or that a bomb exploded in Tel-Aviv or Baghdad we flinch. It reminds us of the threat our perceived enemies or opponents pose. Each time we mourn the loss of lives from Boko Haram insanity or Fulani cattle herders we flinch again. By the time we're through with soaking all these bad news whether true or fabricated we're half-way done or, sometimes, completely through with our desire to keep our camps from incursion from other camps. We become un-malleable to reason and even to the plight of our perceived opponents.

There's enough blame to go round but at the end of the day I believe its disingenuous to think that its only the elites that ruptured our oneness whereas the experience and news we got and continue to get has nothing to do with our un-bridgeable gulf. A nation is much like a living breathing being. It possesses memory and as such can tap from it. This sole reason is why a nation should do no wrong to a section of her population because once its done its done - the notion or sanctity of nationhood from that moment becomes violated, memory refuses to be erased, and things go downhill.

I'm disturbed over the hues and cries over religion in this regard. There is no part of the constitution that says the president and his vp must be of different faiths.
Just as there's no provision in the constitution that says Miss Universe must be canceled or an alcoholic beverage seller's merchandise must be destroyed or that Akaluka or Oluwatosin should die for nothing...list is endless.

Why are most, supposedly, Christians burying their heads in the sand in pretense? My consolation is that this BS can never cross Asaba let alone River Niger. I have no problem with any Nigerian who feels militant or extreme religiosity doesn't matter - its their choice. But understand some people feel it matters. Even in the US - ask yourself why US didn't take in many Iraqis when Iraq was getting hammered with smart-bombs? Any nation or people that fail to find a balance to competing forces is in for a shock. Nigeria is evenly divided, therefore to pretend that its only two muslem men fit for president and VP out of over 80 million Nigerian Christians is, to say the least, a joke.

I have nothing against all faiths but when it comes to submitting my right to adherents of Islam - nwanne, I'm not there yet.

Many developing worlds today are getting butchered every single day thanks to the rise in Islamic terror, and folks are saying we shouldn't care about the inclination of who leads us? No one is saying Muslims should not aspire for Aso Rock. What we're saying is that two Muslims can't go in at the same time in this day and age. Besides why does it always have to be two muslims going in? What about two Ifa worshipers, two Christians, two Ogboni members, or two Amadioha followers? Do you think Muslims will accept any of the above? Wake up people!

My advise to people canvasing for this insanity is simple: push your two Muslims into Aso Rock and watch us live the union in a heartbeat. Frankly, it will be a gift from providence that will unite Easterners like never before. I suppose I'm rooting for it in a weird way.

On a lighter note, how is the ceasefire with the Fuhrer, Shekau, going? If you were privy to discussions in Saudi regarding the ceasefire do mind intimating us on the caliber of BH fighters that will be swapped for the Chibok girls? SE/SS votes are already on locked down for GEJ.....so there is little APC will do to appease those two regions.....the North is weighing heavily for APC....the battle ground is the SW.....all you need is a person with good record of political office, and that is very popular to unlock the idle voters in the region to come out and vote....FASHOLA meets the criteria.

Just like most yorubas..I have Muslims and Christians in my own household...living amicably without rancour, so why should we allow foreign religion to determine who to vote for against competency.

Forget your bullshytee religions when it comes to SW....
Without sarcasm, I'm honestly happy for SW people for the formula they've evolved in handling opposing religious institutions or beliefs. From what I get on the pages of NL it seems almost all families in SW have some kind of muslim-Chritian mixture thingy going on. Great for them and I hope it endures until the end of time. As for my people and I, we do consider religion when matters under consideration involve Nigeria's leadership. I guess the question is why should we in this day and age. Well, let's see if there's any reason why we should:

1) My people are 99.9999% Christians - Fact.
2) We were dragged into OIC by a Muslim president who never gave a hoot - Fact.
3) We've been on the receiving end of Islamic onslaught since God knows when - Fact.
4) Twice we've had Muslim-Muslim ticket and never Christian-Christian -Fact.
5) Muslims have at one time or the other imposed sharia on places they dominated with no qualms - Fact.
6) All over the world wherever Muslims are they're implicitly or explicitly in support of Jihad - Fact
7) APC presidential front-runner has openly canvassed for Sharia - Fact
8] In Nigeria many Christians have fallen six feet under due to Islamic butchery - Fact
9) If reverse were the case Muslims would cry blue murder if Christian - Christian ticket was ever contemplated - Fact.
10) Its universally established that if you give Muslims right to choose the first choice they make is to ask that your right be taken - Fact.
11) Muslim presidents in Nigeria looked the other way while Lebanese and their Muslim collaborators stockpiled weapons all over the north - FT.
12) ISIS ..... no need for intro
13) Alshabab ........No intro needed too.
14) Boko Haram ......Your guess is good..
15) Maitasine.......
16) Ansaru.......
17) ......List is endless. Muslims can be a pain to the freedom and free choice of non-muslims, let's stop pretending like we're another planet.

These folks ask us not to care but where were they when Miss Universe was cancelled? Where were they when Akalula and Oluwatosin were butchered in broad-daylight? Or wasn't that 'Muslims caring?' What about Danish cartoon? Do you know if some of us lost relatives? And yet we shouldn't care who is going to be our president? We should not care if such person has at one time or the other helped inflame passions? Do "we-don't-care-about-religion" people think the butchery that cyclically go on in the Middle Belt have nothing to do with Middle Belters being Christians? What about the recent comment credited to Aliyu Gwoza floating around in the net - should I not care?

Those whose families are mixed with the two religions can tell me not to worry because, quite frankly, what other option do they have....I mean do you want them to care about religion? If they do we know their families will burn - so we're not deceived by their doctrine of necessity. We're not mixed and I love it that way because when I look at the damage Islam has wrecked on humanity I'd rather embrace the devil than submit my homeland to Jihad seeking people. Majority of Muslims are good people but at the same time if given the opportunity they will impose sharia on you. So, yea some of us do care and for good reasons. Now, go on and hate on me.
PoliticsRe: Buhari/fashola Ticket: Opinion Of A SW Christian by SamIkenna:
Its a shame some folks would rather pretend they were from the moon.

Less divisive people like Chime, Fashola, Duke, Fayemi, Mimiko, Ribadu, Ata, Utomi, Akume, etc - these are people I'll vote for any time. Even Ogbeni, I'm willing to vote for him. Obi recently messed up by joining PDP but still, I'm willing to forgive overlook that. The people I mentioned above - I will vote for before considering Buhari and my reasons are simple:

Buhari is an ethnic champion, a Fulani supremacist, and a sharia monger. Ogbeni, in my consideration, is openly religious but you never hear him talk religion, and for that reason I'm comfortable with him knowing that he considers my interest. But Buhari....what you see is what you get. He may arguably be the most virtuous contestant but in the world we currently live, in this current climate of extreme political Islam, all non-muslims and serious secular minded individuals should be wary of folks who overtly or covertly tilt towards Islamofacism, Islamic domination, or sharia implementation. Its a pity that people who, either because of their peculiar history, have a much favorable disposition to Islam and all its variants have decided to cast aspersions on others who're wary of Buhari, sharia, or Islam in its entirety.

In some of my posts I stated how much I feel for the general. Buhari as a person is perhaps a great individual. However, in Nigeria's political sphere being great or just a nice person or whatever is not enough because our country is a mosaic of diverse and, oftentimes, mortal enemies. For the above reason, any individual seeking for a position at the center must never be seen as belonging to any of the extreme poles. Buhari is seen that way and this is what many of his supporters are not willing to accept. Hating on non-supporters of Buhari or insinuating that non-supporters of the general are thieves who're afraid of him is absurd. Yea, maybe some are - I don't know. But at the same time there're many of us whose parents were receiving birth certificates when Buhari was taking over as military head of state, now tell me -what is it did I steal to be scared of the general?

My candid give-away for Buhari's supporters is the following:
(1) Buhari is highly polarizing (that's a fact not assumption) and as such will be almost impossible to return for the second time as Nigeria's president irrespective of who he picks as VP.
(2) Paring him with another muslim will not only make his chances exponentially impossible, it will quickly disintegrate Nigeria if such combo wins, which I think could win.

Let me expatiate a bit on the following statements - "exponentially impossible," and its seeming contradiction, "which I think could win."

Let's try to be objective for a minute. We know that GEJ's support is strong in SE & SS. Middle Belt and SW have some support for GEJ but it still could go either way especially in SW. So, for that reason let's give GEJ a chunk of Middle Belt and let SW muslims go to Buhari. Now that leaves SW Christians in play. Given this scenario, if Buhari pairs with a South West Muslim its obvious that all of SW, NE, NW, and a good chunk of NC is going his way and this is enough to beat GEJ. But then another headache sets in: will SE & SS, the two predominantly Christian enclaves, watch idly while 'their dark' day unfolds? Folks, your answers are as good as mine - its game over.

Now, this is the "exponential impossibility" I was talking about: you win and lose - simultaneously! This is not USA or Europe. No strong enclave is going to play dead in this century. We see what happened in CAR and many more so its imperative we ponder on the outcome of some choices before thinking we can easily force it down the throat of others.

Buhari is a pill most of us will never in a million years accept. And accompanying the general down our throat paired with another muslim as VP, especially now that we're much more wary and apprehensive of extreme Islam (and for good reasons)? Wow! you've got to be kidding - that's practically saying good-bye to Nigeria as a union.

toludadon:
there are so much hues and cries about the volatility of all muslim ticket in Nigeria, as a yoruba xtian, i am bold to say that majority of my fellow yoruba xtians don't even know Fashola is a muslim. they see him as performance personified hence his being an achiever and intellectual is more pronounced than his religious inclination. the result of my findings and interactions is that SW is a wrong place to play politics of religion bcuz almost all families are evenly distributed along religious lines , hence they see you first as a yoruba man before your religion.
hence a Buhari/Fashola in the SW is seeing as North/Yoruba ticket and it will surely fly.
In the nutshell you're saying SW will vote for a ticket that has one of their sons in it - that is: if a ticket has their son they vote for it but if it doesn't .... they vote objectively. Now, you see why 2015 is 'the' year of reckoning? I guess I'm loving the stalemate: who will win, who will be declared, and who will lose.....This, indeed, will make a blockbuster.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Or Jonathan?: Let’s Do Some Mathematics By Dele Momodu by SamIkenna: 5:31pm On Oct 18, 2014
I've already written an article titled "I told you" which will be on Nairaland immediately the winner of 2015 presidential election is announced. My only concern is for non-Hausa/Fulanis resident in core-north during the course of 2015 election. If you're still residing in Arewa then remember that forewarned is forearmed.

I call 2015 election the great difference maker because it's going to be the sole decider of Nigeria as one entity irrespective of Dele Momodu's math or no math. Things will go up-hill or down-hill very fast - reason being that Nigeria has been on the edge for too long and 2015 may well crescendo the rising tension, explosive rage, and unmasked venom past a critical point.

This is our moment of truth. The veracity of Nigeria's nationhood is about to be tested - will it unravel or will it hold up? No one, not even Dele's math skill can tell.

This is the most malicious junk I've seen in a long time. This is a clear example of what happens when people start approaching their death-bed with empty and vacuous degrees - they start flirting with Joseph Goebels.

Hear him: "I don’t care what promises the Igbos make to the APC today, the great majority of them are going to vote for the PDP because they are scared of the Yorubas. In my opinion, they want the Yorubas to experience the same genocide they have endured but the Yorubas are too smart for that. It is not going to happen. --- Dr Wumi Akintide"

Folks, Dr Akintide has clearly shown that common sense is no longer common.

The reason it will not see the light of day is because you sharia proponents are mired in 4th century rationality. Stoning women for adultery and beheading infidels is hardly a principle for greatness. Please name one country using Islamic jurisprudence that has ever prospered. If you want unbridled sharia you can take a hike to Afghanistan or any Fuckinstan nation that practice sharia
Is sharia not the reason Bornu is burning today? Let them have their Sharia. I honestly do not know why we waste energy and resource on Islamists issues. Let them cut off their hands or chop off every head in their domain - they love 7th century jungle life, they're more than free to have it.

Nwanne, get real and stop chasing shadows. You're alhaji ndu, the most vicious and unrepentant defender of Uthman Dan Fodio's estate. Better hurry up before another Jihadist beats you in the race to Shekau's newest double. And by the way, I care more about millions of old and young jihadists that share nationality with me more than I care about some misguided Australian or Israeli.

Dude quit this buffoonery. You're as Arewa as Shekau, El Rufai, and Buhari. Your nationality is Nigeria so be proud of it. At any rate, there's nothing you or Buhari can do to change his fate, or most especially, the hand of time. You can pad his CV or the CV of any of your Arewa brothers, in the end its all garbage. I hate to see Buhari cry 'cos his more than old enough to be my dad but if a royal masquerade chooses to play a game of mud with children, in the end he's going to have a speck of excreta on his royal mask.

Time to pull your beloved general back in the house because this is gonna get ugly real soon. I feel for him.

Again, for caliphate's sake, say hi to Shekau's new double at your next caliphate meeting.

Lol! The "I am American" is here. How is Shekau and his caliphate going for all of ya? Send my regards when next you meet his third or should I say fourth 'double' at caliphate appraisal. That's if Nigeria's military hot chase has abated enough for all of you Shekau's Nairaland-foot-soldiers to converge.

Where does one even start on this baloney. Really I'm shell-shocked.
So some fellas now decipher whatever it is Buhari whispers? Hmm! Buhari better watch out 'cos folks now can tele-decode all behind-the-door convo with your wife or wives.

Let's say these Buhari fans are for real, let's assume GMB is the man for the job for a minute. Now, does that make him God? I ask this because that's implicitly what the author is getting at. I mean check out this insulting line: Buhari is telling you that he is not looking for any personal gains but that he is deeply concerned about you all, especially the downtrodden and that his conviction tells him he has a better idea to make life more abundant for you.

The man of great courage and integrity is telling you he shed tears on your behalf because he is seeing what you are not seeing but that is hurting you and devaluing your essence of living.

I suppose Buhari is now on the same level as our lord and savior, Christ. I give it to Buhari followers, they're dogged and passionate for their man and I must admit that I do not believe that most of them are paid agents. However, what is lost in the midst of their shouts and clamor for the second-coming of Buhari is this: How does Buhari intend to turn around Nigeria? I have never heard any concrete bucketlist or outline on how the general intend to deliver. What I've heard him say is "we will secure Nigeria." Each time I hear him retort this line like a code on an infinite loop I'm left wondering: secure Nigeria from what, from who - unless you mean secure Nigeria from Jihadists and born-to-rule mentality. When he's not speaking his fans go on the offensive on how all criminals are scared straight of GMB's presidency. And I ask which criminals?

Its imperative fellas get a message deep down their skulls. The message is this: The players you and I refer to as criminals are Buhari friends and allies. Buhari is no different, in fact if there's any difference at all it is that those other criminals are not overt religious and ethnic champions. I wasn't even in primary school yet when Buhari was the head of state but I grew up hearing how he cut short a fledgling democracy and opened the gate for IBB to abuse us. Today we hear IBB was corrupt but Buhari wasn't and some of us are left wondering if that line makes sense. How should I absolve Buhari when he was the one that kicked open the box that unleashed IBB on us? He was a dictator that stole our parents' mandate so why is that not corruption? Shouldn't that count for something? As we can see fellas, Buhari is no angel and certainly not our savior so I suggest he wipe his tears and stop worrying about us. Majority of us whose innocence and trusts as children were sacrificed during IBB's evil government that was pre-facilitated by Buhari's misadventure have moved on, so its time the general wiped his tears and stopped worrying about us.

In summary, the general is forgiven but its important that we all remember that Buhari was and is never the savior. He was and still is part of the problem. Let new breeds with modern tools suited for modern societies and economies take over the mantle. Its unproductive to regurgitate the past when the future lies in the front. If Buhari who is part of our past is currently the only savior on the horizon then we might as well go further back to independence or even the period of northern and southern amalgamation and, perhaps, de-amalgamate the union - I mean why stop at 1984 when we can go much deeper for ultimate solution. Folks, with all respect, I believe its time for the general to retire. The time has come for Buhari to work for a less abrasive co-existence of all ethnic and religious groupings.

Here we go again... Which Obi? That man is/was a fraud in Anambra, a buttlicker of Jonathan and TAN's SE Coordinator. I will rather av Ibori or Akala than Obi. Fashola? A good Administrator but I will rather have GMB or Kwankwaso (My first choice in that order) or with a Utomi or Fola Adeola or Rochas/Amaechi as VP. Fash should be given a ministeral role or head a parastatal
Explain why you would choose Ibori over Obi, and Kwankwaso or Buhari over Fashola, who you admitted was and still is a good administrator.

You realize that's unmitigated insanity?

Obi left over 74 bn naira for his successor while Ibori ended in jail yet the jail-bird is your favorite - really? Is this planet of the Apes or what? Put Obi aside for now. Be honest, if Fashola and Buhari were to put their CVs up for job in a merit-based organization who do you think would get the job?

A proven administrator with a law degree coupled with unquestionable secular consciousness vs a former dictator with a penchant for regional and divisive religious rhetoric and a record for truncating democracy? Where in the world is that even a match?

Quite frankly, this is why I don't lose sleep on whichever direction Nigeria is headed to - it is a nation from hell that's on a slow ride back to hell. I'll advise folks to enjoy the slow ride now 'cause sooner or later we'll get to the terminal.

Pol Science is not useless, it empowers one and equip one to pursue a career in either law, journalism, business, int'l relations and diplomacy, public service(working with political party), political analyst, psychology, academic etc. It is a valuable degree but in Nigeria we don't think.
Not sure I understood the emboldened. If by 'we don't think in Nigeria' you meant Pol Science is important in the current or long-term development of the country, keeping in mind our current state of underdevelopment, then I beg to differ. In the 60s maybe (at least the founding fathers were in political trench warfare with queen Eliza so its understandable), but in 2014? Common! you've got to be kidding me. Pol Science in this day and age should be discontinued. Its a useless waste that should be reserved for people with minuscule IQ. Asians are here chasing electrons as they tunnel and black people who're unequivocally behind the rest of humanity in tons of areas is wasting money on Pol science. Talk of misplaced priority.
