People still study Political science? Lol! Perhaps the 'science' attached to 'political' is the problem. About time they called that garbage political studies. |
tit:I was wondering the same thing then looked up, voila! you have replied exactly what I intended. No further over-flogging needed 'cause you nailed it. |
aresa:Like seriously? Define progress and tell me if we're missing in action. By progress you mean Boko Haram? Nigeria as a whole is a sh*t-hole so I'm lost by your statement "while other people progress..." If the twisted barometer for measuring progress in Nigeria is used then I think no sane man dead or alive would think Igbo is ever behind any person or group of persons in sub-Sahara Africa. So drop it bro. Anyways, its all politics - nothing personal. But if you call it bigotry then I wonder what you would call utterances/positions such as the recent one made by one Aliyu in which he wrote "Its Islam or Sword," or the usual mantra on the lips of your people that Igbo won't be president of Nigeria, to name a few. Its 'One Nigeria' bro. Do what pleases you and let the chips fall where they may - its not bigotry, its reality. |
aresa:We see things differently. Maybe 16 years of keeping Arewa away from power to enable them come to terms with their humanity and mortality is worth more than 2nd Niger bridge. In less than 5 years of core north losing presidential power can't you see the nation is re-calibrating? Don't worry about Boko Haram, its also part of weaning process - they'll get there and when they do they won't be needing 2% cut-off for unity school admission any longer. I believe the only way we 'll be able to approach pseudo-nationhood given our bloody history is by seeing each other as a leg in this national table. The core north right now is not there yet but they sure will, else Arewanistan awaits them down the road. |
thewarrior72:Word brother. The emboldened is where I rest my case. I careless about GEJ. However, if the option on the table today is core north vs dumbo, I'll let dumbo have it. Enough of the Core-Northern threats, irresponsible political brinkmanship, careless rhetoric, and born-to-rule buffoonery. I've said this before: My caring on who occupies Abuja in 2015 stops the moment a core-northerner steps in. They need to be re-oriented that they're not the only ones breathing in Nigeria. They love to talk 'one Nigeria' but hardly practice it so let's wake up fellas. If good governance is the key ingredient we're looking for in 2015 then there are tons of people from North central, Midwest, South West, South East, and South south that are qualified to be vetted. But no! It has to be Arewa for some folks. The same Arewa that swore to take away our sleep after 2011 election and eventually delivered on their promise. Put Oshomole, Donal Duke, George Akume, Fashola, Chime, and even Ogbeni and loquacious Okorocha forward and I'll reconsider my support for GEJ. But as long as the opposition thinks Arewas are now progressives then they can knock themselves out with it. |
ISpiksDaTroof: ISpiksDaTroof:For real? Always on time with same old outdated line. If Igbos so much despised Yorubas, Muslims, and Northerners, like you claimed, how come none of the group you mentioned above never get killed or maimed in Igboland? Contrast that with the amount of Igbo blood and/or non-hausa/Fulani blood spilled across the length and breadth of implacable Muslim north. When you're done with the blood-spilling book-keeping tell us who's the king of hate. One more thing: You have Nigeria why don't you stop worrying about Biafra. Its ludicrous and plain stupid to be worried about something your fathers pronounced dead over 40 years ago, especially now that you and your siblings up north just discovered a knack for a return to caliphate, sharia, and beheading of Nigerian pilots. Anyways, don't forget to say no thanks to Shekau for me when next you all meet for caliphate appraisal. |
Aside your family nothing is worth dying for. To see that some folks die for a geographical area called Nigeria is beyond me. Nigerians need to remember Yogoslavia and the amount of blood spilled to make it what it was not destined to be. In the end water found its level like it always did - real nations emerged from the carcass of Tito's conglomeration of strange-bed fellows. Using Nigeria as a template in hindsight, one could also visualize how many young Yugoslavs perished in the protection of 'One Yugoslavia' mantra. Today, seeing what has and will always become of Nigeria, I cannot believe that at one point I flirted with the idea of joining NDA. I guess the saying that one man's meat is another's poison is apt in this context. To that end I say - Rest in God's peace Mr Hedima. And may the good Lord give your family the strength and grace to bear your loss. |
007truthbetold: More photos from the visit, including the conferment of a Chieftaincy title 'Ugwugwu of Emohua (Pride of Emohua) on the governor. In the core and unadulterated dialect of my community, Ugwugwu or ugwu means pride. In fact the word 'ugwu,' irrespective of how it's pronounced will always mean one thing - pride. Emohua has 'ugwugwu' as a traditional chieftaincy title, which is to say there's high of probability that this tradition was passed down from generation to generation. I grew up with a friend who goes by Amechi. Both Amechi and I knew ugwugwu or ugwu meant pride. Interestingly, the community we grew up in is about 300 miles from Emohua in River state where Gov Amechi was conferred with Ugwugwu of Emohua. Hmm! what a pretty coincidence. Reminds me of Dr sir warrior's ugwu bu nkwi nkwi - my big brothers always listening to that masterpiece. |
Ibnsultan: Too bad. |
North has become synonymous with endless blame-game. Everyday new names are added to a list of phantom alien destroyers and persecutors of North, or precisely core north. The worst is that, if for any reason there was a conspiracy to deny the north oil proceeds, Chad should have been the likely candidate given her unrestrained flow of oil money from lake Chad basin while the core north burns. But guess what? The core north would rather blame Southern Christians for her woes than blame their leaders and/or Muslim neighboring countries even when the 'beloved' foreign neighbors are glaringly part of BH criminals maiming and ravaging core northern homeland. I'm ashamed that the generality of non-Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri in Nigeria are hell-bent on this suicidal union with Core northern region. We need to understand the futility of using limited resource in combating/forestalling northern people's hunger for radical Islam. If the aim is to develop Lake Chad oil so that the spread of radical Islam in the North is curtailed...hmm, I wish them luck. Take note: All the oil in the house of Saud hasn't achieved zero radicalism in that kingdom since the dawn of 20th century so why would Wahhabi followers and Arab wannabes of core north be any different? I haven't heard of a situation in which any govt anywhere is been asked to effect changes or adopt extra-ordinary measures, financial or employment wise, to forestall citizens from succumbing to radical Christianity. It's always Muslims and I have no doubt it will not change any time soon unless Islamic opinion makers and scholars decide to change the particular ingredient in their faith that makes people easily radicals. In the end we can all agree that the odour emanating from a he-goat is from within and no amount of cosmetic surgery can change that. The north, with unfettered access to Nigeria's oil wealth and its innumerable trappings, ruled this nation for just about 40yrs, yet it didn't change the radical inclination of her people. Today Christians and moderates have been practically decimated in Bornu axis, but despite our losses all we hear or read on national dailies is how much extra sacrifice we need to make to stop Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri muslims from succumbing to Islamic radicalism. Anyways, let Nigeria drill lake Chad oil-field or pump more oil from Niger Delta to the north as much as the north wants. In the end it makes no difference because a good number of average core northern youths have enough dose of extremism in them. Given what we've collectively witnessed in Nigeria over the past 3 to 4 years, I've come to believe that we're living in one country with a potential state sponsor of terror, and therefore all this talk about how much we need to put into de-radicalization of the north or jobs and opportunities creation up north is pure baloney simply because the he-goat needs to remove his source of odour from within before any cosmetic body cleansing can work. The radicalization of the north is embedded in her religious culture, therefore the denial, endless blame-game, conspiracy, and use of poverty as excuse for BH is simply a smoke screen. |
Fashola is a presidential material. Even with some visible blunders he's, by a wide margin, ahead of many of his peers. In a volatile nation like Nigeria, presidential hopefuls must be men who're less inclined to engage in combative rhetorics, regional/ethnic or religious posturing, and crass self-entitlement. I will vote for him before I do same for Okorocha or Amechi. Reason being that Fashola is less loquacious and combative than okorocha and amechi. If APC fields him GEJ'll be in whole lot of trouble. But then APC will implode because power to the north as opposed to power to Nigerians is why Dan Fodios are the new Nigerian 'progressives.' |
ISpiksDaTroof: And,you dumb illiterate hateful jungle bunny, what did he say that was wrong? Why cant he say anything without you flatheaded monkeys intent on destroying Nigeria complaining? Even his silence is criticized, what can he do to please you demons? ISpiksDaTroof: HE IS NOT PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA! HE IS FROM THE NORTH! HE IS IN THE PRESENCE OF A NORTHERN EMIR WHO IS IN CHARGE OF A NORTHERN TOWN RAVAGED BY TERROR PROBLEMS! ISpiksDaTroof: Why are you guys so hateful? I have never seen deeper hate from self-proclaimed victims like I see from the Ibos towards the North and Muslims. How is that "I am American" working out for you..? Lol! I would not be shocked if Shekau had a NL moniker. |
tpia1: most women would not divorce based on these reasons though, there must be something more.People of means divorce for even more trivial reasons. Its the world we live buddy. |
In 1999 these confused folks killed innocent citizens because they wanted sharia. Now they have it on a bloody platter. I say let them enjoy. |
edoyad: It's not enough for you to come to TV and speak fancy words about leadership; what effort, sacrifice or commitment are you putting in to the Nigeria project ?Lol! Why would their children serve...for what purpose? Here in the US, Biden's son is in the military, McCain's in it, even Palin's son is in active duty too. Go to UK the royals serve also. In the so-called 'One Nigeria' its mainly poor people's children coming home in body-bags. I have never been a fan of OBJ but after learning about his son's close shave with death in the hands of Boko Haram my respect for that man just went up. OBJ has shown his gospel on One Nigeria is not a fluke. He's shown his belief in Nigeria doesn't only depend on how much of our oil wealth he's cornered. He fought in the trenches against Biafra and his son is fighting today against Boko Haram, what more proof does anyone need to know that of all the pretenders who sermonized on One Nigeria, OBJ is the only real believer. Whoever says that parents' inputs and choices do not matter at the realm the OBJs, IBBs, Abachas, Danjumas, and Buharis of this world forage politically is being disingenuous. I just had a quick look at OBJ's bio and found out that he's one of the very few Nigerian leaders and power-brokers who never pampered their children. I guess that explains why OBJ's daughter could not stand him. Now, juxtapose OBJ with other loud mouth One Nigerian believers up north and see if you have the stomach to count the number of Lamborghinis and Bentleys in their son's garages. Gwoza is calling and Gwoza is seeking for believers in this failed experiment. The hour has come to translate all the online belief in Nigeria to real practical belief in the trenches of Gwoza. |
makazona: i agree with ur take except dat ur respect for OBJ is clouding ur judgement.he didnt sacrifice his son.the son is a Nigerian soldier for Gods sake who fight for glory/medal and is paid/promoted for his bravery.Go and tell that to Abacha's children whose only trade is to insult Prof Soyinka. Too many people have talked about how much they love a united Nigeria, how great Nigeria is, and how much they want to give back, and other blah blah blah. Now its time to back it up. And this is not only for generals by the way, northern civilians like El Rufai's, Bugaje's, and Ango's children are also wanted in Gwoza. Or is it only when its time to talk about oil block, revenue sharing, power, and ludicrous population census that these people show up? This is a perfect opportunity for all these fellas to put their money where their mouth is. They need to care about Nigeria on the front-lines not on twitter. |
The Presidency has challenged all retired military officers in the country to take up arms and move to the frontline to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents. The Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Ethics and Values, Sarah Jubril, said yesterday that retired generals and military officers could not afford to remain at their comfort zone while the Boko Haram fighters gain more ground, overrunning towns and communities. The presidential aide spoke in Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday at the commencement of a 21-day training on Linking Women and Youth for Sustainable Green Development and Income Generation through Agricultural Business. The training, which had about 120 participants, was organi-sed by the Islamic Green Club Empowerment Initiative in conjunction with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Ethics and Values. In a statement from her office, the presidential aide said all retired generals in the military and paramilitary agencies should “congregate” at Gwoza where Boko Haram recently captured, to reclaim the territory. "Let them go there. They have enjoyed the best in this country and therefore, we want to see all the retired generals, officers in all the armed forces as well as the IGs, comptroller generals, top officials of immigration and all the heads of departments should congregate and let us see whether the Boko Haram are going to defeat our generals." she said. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/34008-b-haram-presidency-challenges-ex-military-men-to-go-to-battlefield My take: The emboldened reminds me of IBB and other over-fed generals who, in the past, entertained us with how much they loved this nation. In fact IBB on several occasions said he was willing to, once again, put on his uniform to defend Nigeria's unity and sovereignty. Now that Gwoza is calling I'm wondering if our gap-tooth resource usurper is willing to let Nigerians cash the rain-check he signed in peace time. Its time for retired generals to congregate and, if need be, die in Gwoza. The time has come for all 'One Nigerianists' to come and heed the call of their fatherland. OBJ has shown his love and belief in One Nigeria by nearly sacrificing his son and I must say that my respect for him just went up many notches. Unlike other pretender-generals whose children only know how to collect monthly allowance from stolen oil wealth stashed in Swiss banks, OBJ has shown, with clear example, what kind of true believer he is - love him or hate him. Now where are other generals, especially northern generals? Isn't it time to defend your grand-daddy's (Uthman dan Fodio) one-Nigeria estate? |
nduchucks: I can bet my last million naira that you are an intellectual of the Igbo extraction. ko kwa?Leave us out of your mess. You made it so go clean it. But I can help if you ask with some respect and humility, and even at that I shall help you from a thousand miles. Not getting close to your people's unending culture of terror. |
nduchucks: Who dug this up? That was almost 4years ago!!The pattern shows a confused region on a mental siege blaming everyone for her woes. Blaming everyone except, of course, herself. |
egift: [s][/s]There's always a bus from any location in Nigeria to Bama, Gwoza, Sambisa, and Maiduguri. Join the military and fight this war or, better still, join civilian JTF. There's a work for all you who say let's get them only in NL. |
Its laughable when folks say: Buhari crushed maitasine. Well, newsflash: Maitasine crushed maitasine, plain and simple. GEJ is a minority christian in charge of an army that's fighting islamic terror organization, therefore it makes sense to replace GEJ with a muslem who knows how to fight his 'brothers.' However, the first problem with the line above is that its proponents always fail to realize not everyone prays to Allah, while the second is that once we give in to such blackmail, political, religious, or sentimental, we would have committed the entire Nigerian minorities as well as non-muslem citizens to political irrelevance. Instead of endlessly hounding GEJ and his team, I believe its time to look core-northern muslems in the eye and ask them why they always love terror. Think about this: you're always helping a buddy who, on daily basis, is bitten by a rattle snake (the same rattle snake all the time) don't you think simple logic demands that you ask your buddy why he loves playing with a dangerous snake? I mean, if he can't live without a rattle snake why not, at the very least, try a different one. Wahabism has been destroying the north long before most of us were born and its still destroying it today. I ask - when will the north get a different rattle snake? Blaming GEJ or defeating BH is but a temporary the solution, it sure doesn't solve the root cause of your terror-filled history. When I was a kid my Dad always told me I was the architect of my fortune. I understood it then and I understand it now and to that end I say: Core-northern people, as much as I feel your pains, you brought this mess on yourselves. Nigeria is big, diverse, and incurably apathetic so there's little GEJ can do for you. You're simply on your own. And if you're in doubt go figure how many states are willing to draft their citizens or commit 5% of their monthly allocation to help you fight this war. Nigerians took a cut during Biafran war and that's because Biafra held huge oil fields. You have relatively nothing and you hold not so much and as such highly expendable. |
The question should be: why is the Core-north a hotbed for extremism and terrorism? Find the answer and in it you'll find why GEJ will never defeat BH. The core north relishes in extreme decimation of peoples and cultures they consider alien or, in BH's lexicon, 'haram.' Put succinctly, what's currently unraveling in the core north is simply two 'harams' competing for supremacy. One 'haram' is implicit (Hausa-Fulani Islamic domination of Nigeria) while the other is explicit (Uthman dan Fodio and Boko Haram). Hopefully someday Nigerians will get their heads out of the deep sand and accept that it's impossible to sleep with both eyes closed in any kind of nation that includes a chunk of it hellbent on extremism, jihadism, and sharia-sm. |
OrlandoOwoh: Illiterate, I'm sorry to say this, 1966 pogrom could repeat itself. That's what all the cheerleading and fanning from you guys is all about. But make no mistakes, this time its going to be every man for himself. All regions will stand alone in the impending national catastrophe. So, while you wait for our pogrom we might be the ones to reach the knife first. With all your relentless attack on the East I would hope you volunteer yourself and family members for a war of annihilation on the eastern front, at least that would finally consummate your wish for a taste of Igbo blood. |
nduchucks: Nothing unexpected here.BH's strength has increased 30 fold since Ihejirika left. How do you account for the increase? Ihejirika was your savior. You should be on your knees begging him. Let me remind you folks once again: Igbos, which I'm part of, don't defecate where they eat. We neither kill guests nor hosts and, most importantly, we don't kill country men in defense of local religion let alone foreign one. The aforementioned vices and more are known to be exclusive preserve of those blaming Ihejirika, and by extention, his people (Also nice try on roping Biafra in Arewa's ignomy). You guys wanted caliphate before the dawn of independence (need I remind you about dipping Quran in the ocean?). Now, thanks to Shekau, you have it so I would appreciate you stop complaining. |
They keep chasing Ihejirika while BH runs them out of town. I wish them luck. Currently, Ihejirika is gone yet BH is in control of seven towns including the second largest urban city (second to Borno's capital) in Borno. I guarantee folks this: before the dawn of 2015 a wide breadth of Nigerians will be begging for the return of Ihejirika. |
Davies said Ihejirika was Boko Haram sponsor. However, Boko Haram was at the receiving end of Nigeria's military onslaught when Ihejirika was the COAS. His method was relatively effective and brutal that, as soon as he was eased out, the Arewas went for his head, threatening him with ICC and etc. Nigerians could easily argue that Boko Haram was on the verge of capitulation when the 'dreaded Igbo COAS' was calling the shots. In fact a cross section of who and who in the north and some pseudo human rights activists accused Ihejirika of genocide just as the man was shedding his military uniform for a civilian isiagu & red cap. Now like a flash, Davis says 'Boko Haram told him' Ihejirika was a sponsor of terror and, just like that, some Nigerians are up in arms calling a man that gave his all a terrorist. Boko Haram told Davis that Ihejirika sponsored them (BH) so he (Ihejirika) could kill them (BH) in thousands - I need a new logic synthesis because the current boolean is not cutting it here. Ihejirika the 'sponsor' left and all of a sudden Boko Haram, without their 'guy - Ihejrika,' became strong to the extent that they're now in control of a portion of Nigerian territory - folks, Boko Haram is no longer quartered only Sambisa, they're now one heart beat away from Borno's capital. All these without Ihejirika's sponsorship, really? Now, the question is: Why Ihejirika, and what does he stand to profit in Boko Haramism? I'll do justice to the question at the appropriate time, but for now let the tongues wag. |
...news not inspiring. But at any rate, Gwoza has already seceded. So, it looks like we'll get there in piecemeal - Gwoza, Chibok, Baqa, Maiduguri, and then all of Bornu with caliphate's capital in Sambisa forest - seems secession will take that route. The core north has found their much anticipated de facto leader in Shakau - looks like the joke is on us for failing to produce one before Arewa. Its a shame the north has beat us again by being the first to secure a generalismo in a chaotic disintegrating country - read the history of chaotic Yugoslavia and you see why Shakau is destined to play a role. Interested in knowing where the next secession train will zoom off.. |
Such Soviet method is feasible with negligible backlash if and when the enemy is foreign. But our enemy is woven right in the very fabric of our society so any overwhelming or barbaric method used in combating the enemies will perpetually reverberate, leaving permanent scars and bad blood for generations. Think about how much debate for and against the use of starvation in the civil war that happened over 40 years ago, that alone is a guiding evidence that a nation/govt must not use questionable method in whipping her citizens in line. Boko haram will be defeated the day bad apples in Nigeria's military are routed. Nigeria's war against Shekau's gang of terrorists is not similar to Colombia's war against Escobar in which Los pepes terror tactics were deployed against Escobar's relatives with covert support of the govt. Colombia's tactic worked because the entire nation was solidly behind their govt but such scenario is arguably not obtainable in Nigeria. Boko Haram's driving ideology enjoys substantial support in the north - Perhaps we can agree their mode of actualizing the ideology is what lacks support. Given the point the above, how feasible does anyone think we can adopt Soviet castration of BH relatives or Los Pepes reprisal terror method in combating Boko Haram? I believe there are only two solutions to Boko Haram issue. One is to get rid of many moles in the military while the next is outright divorce of Nigeria's unholy union. I say let's try the two solutions above in descending order. |
It's glaring you're a bitter kid. You need therapy from Dr Phils because you sound deprived and angry - I'm hoping you were not abandoned. I wonder how in your little mind any sane mind would divulge his info in a forum people like you troll. I have already given enough of myself so if ever you saw the walls of a post high school institution you would have found something to use in tasting the veracity of Ikenna, the person you ought to serve. I know you've been bitter since I put a rollback on you and your wolf pack's inordinate obsession with Princess Oduah. Bro you've been bitter since then. I guess I activated your head hunting mode with that thread - its funny how my thread radicalized you. Perhaps it's a wake up call for OPs to be careful with threads they put up - never know what manner of failed men on edge taking it the wrong way. You can take over the thread, you derailed it anyways. So have a nice day. |
eaglechild: Some people do have over bloated egos.I think the dude has actually found that Austin and UIUC are not his average backwater London rundown college. I need to go do something useful with my life anyways, have plenty stuff to do. |
Lol! Dude this your 40 uni rank balderdash is beginning to sound cliche. I have little to nothing to gain from that cliche, ok. But if it interests or irritates you that much perhaps you need to google search for the best engineering schools in the world and knock yourself out with the shocking truth that we're not mate both in chosen fields and alma mater. And for your info, my work in semi conductor fabrication and integrated circuitry dwarfs anything you'll ever dream of. Like I said earlier, it's not bragging and I can prove to you the mastery of my field - you only need to ask anything to wish and I will provide answers you can never find in Google just to show you we're not in the same league field and academic wise. |
My school made the list, besides it's not like I never knew I went to about the top ten engineering school in the world, so if that hurts you then my bad. However, my school making the list does not change the real message you decapitated like you do to all things in NL that does not massage your over bloated ego. Let me repeat again what I said about the school I attended - it's ranked among the ten(+-) best engineering schools in the world. Call it bragging, I call it determination, and intelligence too. In fact if you're one bit appreciative I might be willing to give you free online lectures here on NL to help you up your graphics certificate. |
