This is getting interesting. If I was the US, I would probably do the same thing. Think of it, If a member of a family came to your house and tried to poison you, won't common sense teach you to watch out for other members of that same family? When we condemn the US, let's tell ourselves the truth. The past religious riots in this country, how did the gov handle it. Hundreds of people were killed and investigations have died down. But see America, just an attempt and they are sweeping everywhere, everybody related. That is called value for the life of citizens. It's called allegiance to ones country. My advice to Nigerians is to look inward and see how we can stop religious intolerance. Our security agents don't know how to prevent riots, they only get there after the damage has been done. The US is sensitive and wise enough to look years ahead in safeguarding the safety of its citizens. I have no grudge against he US. As a father I am willing to ttake any step possible to protect my family. God bless the United States of America and help Nigeria to learn a few lessons from the US on how to place value on the lives of our citizens. Cheers my people! |
http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=163538 "Amid all the media frenzy around the Nigerian underwear bomber and how America should have stopped him before he tried to blow up a passenger plane on Christmas Day, a critical piece to the counter-terrorism puzzle seems to have been missed: where in the world is the Nigerian President? Normally, after such a horrific incident, President Obama would be on the phone with his counterpart, discussing what went wrong and agreeing on ways to work better in the future to prevent such attacks. But this couldn’t happen because Nigeria’s President Umaru Yar’Adua left his country for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia on November 23rd and hasn’t been seen or heard from since." He further wrote: "The failed terrorist attack by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Northwest Flight 253 highlights that Nigeria’s power void is dangerous for the U.S. as well. The foundation of a counter-terrorism strategy is to build cooperative partnerships with friendly nations. This means sharing information and helping to build security capacity in places like Yemen, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. But we cannot have a partnership if there is no one on the other end of the line." “President Barrack Obama could not have been discussing with Nigeria’s security adviser or Mike Aondoakaa (the Attorney-General),” the source added. “He had nobody to discuss with.” Also, Nigeria lacks a strong lobbying group in the US, which sources say, might have been useful immediately after AbdulMutallab was arrested. “The lobbying group would have swung into action immediately AbdulMutallab was arrested to sensitise the American authorities,” the source said. During the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Goodworks International, an American lobbying firm, was hired for Nigeria. But the contract was discontinued when Yar’Adua came into power. |
What do you suggest. I suggest a mass action against the national assembly and the FEC. |
My guy, keep the baby. when this confusion finally goes you will be proud you did. If you abort this baby now, will it make sense if in the future you want to have a baby with the same girl. I speak from experience, keep the baby, marry your fiancée and watch God surprise you by making all you dream come true beyond your imaginations. |
How possible is it to have risen to the post of the Minister of Justice of a great nation like Nigeria without INTEGRITY? |
Is it leather or fabric |
The statement continued that the critical concern of the group at this moment is to wish Yar' Adua well and condemned the overzealous members of his kitchen cabinet who would do anything to cling to power and privilege pointing out that these people are the real problem of this contraption called Nigeria. Whyte recalled that "The last time the President returned from Saudi Arabia after treatments, Babagana Kingibe got fired. Hopefully when he returns this time, we would like to see someone like Michael Aondokaa. The man is a disgrace to the people of the Nigerian state." http://allafrica.com/stories/201001041150.html |
Hayab described Vice President Jonathan's apology to Nigerians as a sign of humility and a new approach to governance. He said: "At least we are beginning to have a new approach to governance for the government at the federal level to come out to apologize for their inability to keep to their promise. To me, it is a welcome development, when a government is humble enough to come out and say we could not keep our promise then it shows that we are heading somewhere. "In the past, with pride and arrogance, government will not even care whether it keeps its promises or not. So that shows that something is about to happen although that will not give us electricity or what we want. I believe that action and concrete commitment to whatever government promise to do" he said Secretary of the Kaduna State chapter of CAN, Rev. Joseph Hayab, in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Kaduna said the absence of the President Yar'Adua has created a serious vacuum in the governance of the nation, stressing that the FEC and the National Assembly should apply constitutional provisions to take care of his absence. http://allafrica.com/stories/201001040348.html |
God Bless The United States of America. |
@bariga1 don't you think he is dead already? |
Let's wait for confirmation. |
Don't ask the VP cos he does not know. He is not a member of the kitchen cabinet and he has to play smart before they label him as power monger. And if you ask me, I will say thus far he has behaved so well. Mind you they are doing everything within thier power to trap him so they can find a reason to eliminate him from the equation. So poster, leave Jonathan out of this. |
THESE LAWS STAND: 1. ANYTHING THAT HAS A BEGINNING MUST SURELY HAVE AN END. 2. EVERYTHING THAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN 3. WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT WILL COME IN THE MORNING. LET'S HOLD OUR PEACE AND SEE HOW THE END OF THIS MOVIE WILL BE. I AM SURE IT'S GONNA BE A HAPPY ENDING FOR NIGERIA. |
@choco5 O ye of little faith. Why do you want to get sources? Is the situation on ground not enough for you to make sense out of all these? Be smart before events take you unawares cos I promise you that the matter at hand does not require you having solid sources, believe me. |
Govs Ameachi and Sylva, I hope you have not been bought over? |
Don't make me lose my sleep. |
Jonathan will take over anytime soon. No matter what they try, it will not work. Forget about all their schemings, God always has the final say in stuff like this and nigeria has gone past the level of tribal/religious manipulations. Worst case scenerio, Nigeria will disintegrate. |
President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua is set to sign the 2009 Supplementary Appropriation Bill on his bed at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he is recuperating. This may have ended suggestions that the President will write to the National Assembly to allow the Vice-President to assume the position of Acting President. Indeed, at the weekend, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Michael Aondoakaa said the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Idris Kutigi, will this week swear in his successor, Justice Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu. Kutigi is due for retirement on December 31. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=162886 |
Quoting relevant sections of the constitution, Aondoakaa said “the president or the Chief Justice of the Federation is empowered by the second schedule of the Oath Act Cap of the laws of the Federal Republic to administer oath on the Chief Justice of the Federation.” According to him, “there is no ambiguity in law and no constitutional crisis, as a matter of fact, there is no vacuum as is being speculated by some mischief makers. For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. President can actually exercise his executive powers from anywhere in the world and there is no doubt about that.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/28122009/news/news4.html |
God has to intervene in Nigeria otherwise, I see no light at the end of the tunnel. |
http://www.saharareporters.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4632:goodluck-jonathan-takeover-yaradua-kitchen-cabinet-digs-in-heels&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=18 Saharareporters also learnt authoritatively that last night, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole received $5 million to truncate any transfer of power to Jonathan. The young speaker was paid $5m million through Honorable Inuwa Shehu Imam, a member of the house respresenting Faskari constituency in the House. Alhaji Imam returned from Jeddah last week to pick up the money from an oil lifting firm, Addax Petroleum, as directed by the First Lady. Bankole is known to have received kickbacks from contractors lifting oil from Nigeria but the recent payment was specifically to secure his support for the First Lady’s agenda to frustrate Jonathan’s assumption of power. The Speaker has adjourned House proceedings until January 12, 2010. , But last night, our sources said Turai Yar’Adua’s wife again kicked against the plan. She insisted that the military be allowed to take over power after a vacuum would have been created by January 1st 2010, when there wont be a Chief Justice of the Federation of Nigerian to swear in Jonathan even if they agree to declare Yar’Adua incapacitated. The military, under the plan, would intervene to “prevent chaos and unconstinutionality from derailing Nigeria’s unity and corporate existense”. |

He has so far refused to append his signature to bills coming from the National Assembly and to the list of National Merit Award winners, insisting that he couldn’t do anything without a constitutional backing in place to guarantee the legality of his action. A source revealed that Aondoakaa’s questionable letter was meant to railroad Jonathan to accept a constitutionally fake role of “acting President” so that, if a coup is successfully carried out, Jonathan could be easily brushed aside and accused of engaging in illegality and unconstitutional acts – a constant refrain of coup plotters. Also, the role sought for Jonathan would enable him sign bills that could quickly cater to financial interests of Turai and some other members of the "kitchen cabinet" who are engaged in contract awards running into billions of naira. Our sources said Jonathan was livid with rage over Aondoakaa’s letter. He reportedly made it clear that he would not accept to discharge any presidential duties on the basis of a letter he considered absurd. In order to placate the fuming Jonathan, Aondoakaa appeared in Jonathan’s office today in the company of the Benue Governor Gabriel Suswan. We were unable to confirm the details of the meeting, but a source briefed by Aondoakaa said the AGF tried to explain why he took the action. In return, Jonathan reportedly expressed displeasure in strong terms about the way Aondoakaa and his group had been degrading him and his office. |
To me Jonathan does not look like a weakling. He is just smart and wise. He is proving to all of us that he is not power drunk. But on this Lukman matter,I bet you people will fight lukman for Goodluck's sake. And I am sure if he were the acting president, lukman would have been fired. |
That's bad! |
What is it about the presidency, that most people would prefer to die fighting to remain there? There are more important things in life than pursuing money and power. |
First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, had started some troubleshooting exercises to ensure that the Northern monarchs gave her husband another chance. Another source told the Nigerian Tribune that the First Lady had started putting through telephone calls to the powerful monarchs in the North to change their mind on her husband. THE prolonged illness of President Umaru Yar’Adua appears to have influenced a paradigm shift in the North, as northern traditional rulers are said to have resolved to back Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan as acting President. http://www.tribune.com.ng/24122009/news/news1.html |
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8429184.stm If only the president had handed over before travelling, all these would not have been necessary! |
Farouk Adamu Aliyu of the All Nigeria People's Party has asked the federal high court to rule whether the president has the capacity to govern. Mr Aliyu has launched his court bid in order to establish three points: whether the president's 30-day absence amounts to incapacity whether the Nigerian government has broken the law on the issue whether Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan can lawfully take power The BBC's Lagos correspondent says a ruling from the court would help bring clarity to wild rumours that have swept the country. These rumours have included claims that the president is in a coma, or that he has been struck dumb. |
