ComputersRe: Starcomms Izap - Is It Really Fast As Starcomms Claim? by Samunosuke(m): 4:56am On Sep 26, 2009
Seriously, starcomms is cool. Mine says EVDO Rev. O which tops out @ 2.4 Mbps which will give you download rates of ~300KB/s. For the fact that i cross 200KB/s means its ok. Plus i also do other things in the meantime. One thing about starcomms is that is seems to have a lot of overhead bandwith enabling u to do several things at good rates but not one thing @ exceptional rates. I expect that by the time they upgrade to Rev.A (3.2 Mbps) we'll see speeds of ~300KB/s. Main advantage of Rev.A over Rev.O lies in the upload speeds not even downloads. I think they are trying.

N.B.S.T.O
LWKMD
I don't get your txtspk. Care to clarify wat N.B.S.T.O LWKMD means?

On another note just got my starcomms yesterday and what i get from their recent adverts, it seems like the izap service was just extended to calabar and ibadan. Luckily, i'm a recipient of this extension. No time to post screenshots or anything but i can run about 7 downloads all going @ about 30KB/s.

The guy who supplied it to me said starcomms where receiving complains about their upload speeds being low, so they throttled back the downloads and increased the uploads. Anyways don't care as long as they don't drop below this.

Trust i've used IDM 4 a long time and i agree it has impressive speeds, other factors discourage me from using it not raw speed alone. Plus registration issues also kept me @ bay. Prefer sumting dats free and has no hassles. Look who dey talk about awoof.

Yep, seconded for orbit here. Nice clean lookin' interface and easy to use + u can grab online multimedia with it, all this free, no hacks cracks or whatever. Second is free download manager like orbit but supports torrents and all.
ComputersRe: Windows 7 - What Do You Think? by Samunosuke(m): 6:32am On Jul 11, 2009
Chrome os seems mostly cloud-based, ok 4 advanced nations but in developing nations,no.
Doubt the media powerhouse that is apple will release software for it,instantly alienating millions of iphone/ipod users.
Linux has been here 4 a long time and it hasn't hurt microsoft so what changes?Granted backed by a big name, chrome os might go a long way but probably only on netbooks. I doubt i'll do video encoding or renders on it.
Did i mention games?Even if ur not a gamer,u have to agree thats one trump card microsoft has that isnt going away soon.
But, its not all bad chrome os will definately have speed and stability going for it,some people crave that.I doubt personally i'll dump ubuntu for it.Not with free shipit cd's.
ComputersRe: All P2p Users' Thread by Samunosuke(m): 6:11am On Jul 11, 2009
I've used p2p 4 a long time now, started out with kazaa(fasttrack network) and it was great as long as u knew how 2 search properly.Fastforward and kazaa is dead,so now i've got limewire, piolet, ares and utorrent(free download manager also gets torrents and imo is faster). While they slow the connection,i dont leave them on always especially limewire. On ubuntu, ive got transmission and frostwire.
ComputersRe: Ubuntu 9.04 Better Than 8.10? by Samunosuke(m): 1:21am On Jul 04, 2009
I think i'll skimp over 9.04 and go straight to 9.10 after all, 9.04 is not a long term support release. Anyways, did u test out the new file system? i read somewhere that it's buggy.
Used to have a problem with 7.10 whereby space disappeared from the drive( possible due to too much apt-get) but it was fixed by 8.10 which btw is great.I noticed that the startup time is dependent on the no of applications you've installed(its speed is comparrable to xp). I recently installed compiz-fusion and now i drop jaws. Trust me no other os has anything thats even close. Wish i could post a screenshot now(guess i'll do that later) bt i'm on a dual/triple boot config and 7 has got me piqued for the time being.
I primarily use ubuntu for aircrack-ng, it's a must-have if your wireless driver is up for the task. Ciao.

€¦Downloading freebsd now while testdriving netbsd. Will post back.¦€

Music/RadioRe: Ipod Question: by Samunosuke(m): 5:58pm On Jul 09, 2007
I recently bought a green ipod nano 4gb. ANd since then i have been delivered. There are thousands of fake ipods out there all wit the apple logo. MOst are just mp4 players made in china.

Interestingly u said it had a camera which trully indicates its a fake. BEWARE.
