Politics / Re: Pastor Adeboyes's Private Jet A Must Read by santavista: 11:28am On Mar 26, 2009
@ post,
I find it extremely surprising that elites can spend enviable tym condemning the acquisition of a private jet by RCCG.
does being a man of God mean one should continually live in discomfort or penury? we are all human and our optimum desires either religious or not is to have/own the good things of life. Hw many people were there when the top echelon and pastorate of the RCCG were sowing tym, money, devotion and love to develop the ministry? What are the attributes of a growing ministry? he deserves a better reward. he has been a source of motivation to a whole lot of people. hw many of those throwing abusive and vituperous aspersions at Adeboye's person know him or have had the opportunity to relate with him on a one to one basis? thus why judge? why draw conclusions? we should be emotional as human beings bt not quick to outrightly condemn people.

Many have said he fraternises with politicians because they attend services at the camp; does dat mean if they choose to attend the holy ghost services they should be turned back? sinners should be welcome to the house of the Lord, else there will be no need for an altar call. it is a plus dat dese men once in a while deem it fit to worship God. someday, someone amongst dem will be convicted rite dere and den.

I am not defiant to good suggestions like a poster stated that a new highway can be constructed to connect the camp to lagos to ease traffic flow. This will be laudable by all if planned into church activities as giving back to the society where they belong.

Irrespective of our judgements, I want to key ino the testimony of the RCCG and the General Overseer Pastor Adeboye. I pray the oil of grace which flows through the man of God will fill every entirety of me to do greater works. I pray to be a source of blessing to many others and also grow financially without bounds. Own private jets in the nearest future tongue. Man cannot bless man. The poor will forever remain amongst us. But His favour and grace through time and chance will get us there. (Amen)

Per adventure the otherwise is the case; as in Pastor Adeboye is not of God or he has lost focus of the original calling, I pray for the Holy Spirit to redeem his soul and return him to His kingdom.

I aint a saint. I need a lot of spiritual rejuvenation thus I cant even afford to cast a stone. wink

@ post,

in my candid opinion,
the npf commission has not erred in any way with the action taken.
he (ribadu) was found guilty of all the counts and charges.
pride goes before a fall.
you can never be above the constitution that brought you to power.
obviously mr. nuhu went too far with the mantle as the anti corruption helmsman.
Chukwuemeka Chikelu resigned when the office he held was becoming uneasy.
two promotions in four months is gross irresponsibility by Obj.
life goes on.
nevertheless, the fg should have devised more mature ways of executing their action.
the manner and way it was carried out looks too personal especially for a man who has been able to acquire public sympathy frm both within and abroad.
wisdom is prfitable to direct.
lesson for all.

Politics / Re: Thinking About It: Obj Is Indeed The Best Leader Nigeria Has Had Since Indepenc by santavista: 12:55pm On Dec 08, 2008
@ Post,
in my candid opinion,
the word "best" is not to be used for any comparison of achievements of the past leaders.
instead the word bad, worse and worst should be employed.
for anyone to cross the fairly good line, considerable achievements in all ramifications must be seen.
all of the above stated achievements of obj are minute to the damages and havoc he wrecked in 8yrs.

d poor have remained poor.
more strikes in our tertiary institutions ( i personally was a victim)
still no power
daylight robbery by telecommunications companies
increase in crime rate
increase in prices of grocery items and food items
poor wages
total decadence in the education sector
depletion of federal roads (unable to recover till date) - Ore/Benin as an example
victimisation of lagos
setting up the EFCC as a personal medium for vengeance and intimidation
approved genocides

someone wit a better vision and style of governance would have transformed this country within those eight years.
most of his economic policies were surface, not deep and not sincere enough thus we can see a gradual collapse.
even his top helms anti corruption general (ribadu) cannot stand d test of time obviously because of the wack team (yaradull and co) obj maliciously, wickedly and forcefully put in place or maybe because of the skeletons in his (ribadu) cupboard too. tym wil tell.
except the masses are adequately harnessed and accomodated in2 a better level of comfort, d polity tagged nigeria remains a failure in governance.
he did his best but his best was bad enough. yaradull's administration was scripted by obj thus all blames still go to him.
shelter - food - water - education - power (electricity) are key. till then all our leaders are wack.

no you don't understand my feelings at all. One of the corpers killed was a close family friend so no u don't understand me at all. Its more than painful, it is evil and must be denounced in no uncertain terms.

We don't bear the same name . . . deep down igbos don't want to belong to a nation where they probably find it easier to aspire to be president of the US than their own country. Yorubas want an SNC and autonomous states. Only the parasitic north want the status quo.

Enjoy your blind faith . . . until someone you know ends up a victim. Hopefully it wont be too late for you.

I am more sad reading this reply.

What quotesystem is guilty of (tribalism) is what you are spearheading.

My brother, your naivety is surprising.

Education is not the key to anything . . . what are you going to "educate" these animals about? That killing their neighbor is wrong? Do we not have uneducated folks in Lagos or Aba?

Lagos is "peaceful" simply because it is yorubaland . . . imagine if Lagos was originally Hausa? please tell me again how peaceful you think it would have been.

This false idea that we need to "regard ourselves as one" is a tired argument . . . you're preaching to the choir here. We are not the ones brandishing cudgels to kill our neighbors. It doesnt matter how much we "regard ourselves" . . . the Jos mayhem will repeat itself again and its a matter of when not if.

I am more surprised at your repeated sneering outbursts. sad
I only contributed to this thread because of the lowly posts of Quotesystem.
I also remember stating it is my 2cents thus not tentative that anyone should change his or her belief.
Who says we (yorubas) can't continue to be good examples worthy of emulation.
My citing Lagos is to show that tolerance is pertinent.
Are you saying because today we are obviously not one, that i should denounce my friendship with that sensible Hausa pal? or I should stop relating with my Igbo friends?
We might not be one today but I (personally) believe we are(gbam). grin
Hatred is everywhere within same tribe and even between brothers.
The message in my first post was to reprimand Quotesystem to eschew his emphasis on Yorubas.
I believe in education. Not all those that pass through the system are educated. Only those who have been renewed in their mind and are willing to impart their generation.
I am obviously not denying my gross naivety. I seriously seek to increase my knowledge base. grin

I served in the North as well, and there are respectable people amongst them. But still - the ease with which things descend into anarchy with 'non-indigenes' or 'Christians' getting killed is unacceptable. It IS about tribe unfortunately, if not, you'd get periodic killing of other tribes in other locations as well - why ONLY in the North?

The fact that there are a few reasonable people among them does not negate the fact that there is an evil bloodthirst here, which is inflamed at the slightest opportunity. That, my friend, is the crux.

My brother, education is key.
Let us pray for a geometric spread of knowledge to the north and there will be proper sensitisation on the effect of sub wars on friends and visitors.

Don't be silly and stupid Mr Yoruba man. If you have known how to read and comprehend, you have read where i wrote that your same Yoruba brothers and sisters where questioning what Igbo people are doing in nothern nigeria when ever they are butchered by the same senseless and illiterate almajiri awusas. You brothers and sisters have always demanded and suggested in this forum that Igbo people should leave northern nigeria and emigrate back to the east since northern nigeria is not their land.

Your same brothers and sisters have insinuated in this forum that the reason why Igbos are the targets of the senseless awusa's killings is because Igbos are arrogant and unrespectful to the awusas in their land, therefore they the Igbos deserves what ever they got at the hands of the barbaric awusas. Can you imagine that? Now, i think Yorubas are also arrogant and unrespectful to them, so that's why your people were hacked down by the same animals. or may be they thought you were Igbos? Perhaps.

Your Yoruba brothers and sisters of this forum and other nigerian forums have even went on sometimes to demand that Igbos should leave Lagos and every other nigerian cities and emigrate back to their eastern part of nigeria because they are arrogant and greedy. I mean, this is nigeria, a country that is own 100% by Igbo people together with every other nigerians, but they the Igbos are being questioned why they left their own part of the country to migrate to other parts to engage in education, business, work and other things.

Just 3 days ago before it emerged that Yorubas were victims, your idiotic sister of this forum by the name RedHotChic was suggesting that Igbos living in northern nigeria be tasked to pay higher taxes than others ethnic groups living in the same area. Her reason is that the more money extracted from Igbos should be used to rehabilitate the almajiris so that they would stop targeting Igbos for their killing rituals.

When she was insinuating that just 3 days ago, none of your Yoruba people cautioned her. Inside them, they thought that their idiot sister has made a nice suggestion. Well, i think the Yorubas living in northern nigeria should be taxed more now to help in sending those almajiris to western type education and creating jobs for them so they would stop targeting and killing Yorubas. What says you about my suggestion? I also want to hear more about this taxing suggestion from that idiot RedHotChic now that the chicken has come home to roost.

Do you want now to claim that you haven't seen nor read about what i am talking about either in this forum or in any other nigerian forum? Do you want me to dig out some of the writings for you to read what your brothers and sisters wrote against Igbo victims when they were been hacked to death instead of comdemning the senseless awusa idiots? Do you want to claim to be blind to the extent that you haven't read such in this forum?  I bet you had there been no Yoruba casualty in this current cowardice act of the awusas, your Yoruba masters, those that you assisted in the mass killing of Igbos, non of you Yorubas would have bothered to comment on the current slaughtering of innocent people the illiterate awusas.

You hypocrites are everywhere now not because you usually denounce the reckless killings of Igbos by the illiterate bastard awusas, but only, and i repeat, only because you Yorubas are vicitims this time around. Only 3 down and you are already feeling the pinch. You should then ask how we have been feeling since before the war until this date having lost nearly to 4 million people to this blood sucking awusas whom are been aided by no other people than you Yorubas.

It would have been business as usual trying to think and continue asking questions about why the Igbos continue migrating to such places when they are been killed in those places. I want to see you and your Yoruba brothers and sisters start asking questions about what you and your people are doing in northern nigeria when you are also their target for their killing rituals. Is Lagos and other Yoruba cities not big enough to contain you people? My question to all you hypocrite Yorubas is, what are you and your dead youth coppers doing in northern nigeria? Nonsense!!!

Possibly as teachers to educate your brothers and sisters an easy task that your team fynds hard to undertake.
The emphasis on their tribe is because they are serving outsyde their immediate environment.
Thus it is a shame that your cohorts could carry out such a grievous and severe crime.
Grow up boi. I wonder how some people will visit NLand and will still remain so ignorant, unintelligent, mundane, unpolished and excellently useless with mouths dripping wet with filth.
If you are from the north, you should bury yourself in shame except you are illiterate and uneducated then you can be exempted and pardoned.

Take a queue from MC Usman, Mai Suya and other northerners on this forum who though ever ready to defend their ethnicity and tribe do that with an applaudable mien to their characters and person. I disagree with them most times but I still respect them.
It aint about Yorubas, Hausas or Igbo. But Nigerians. Brothers killing brothers. We are one.

Politics / Re: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by santavista: 10:43am On Nov 14, 2008
@ Sniper_mk,
I read through your article and well documented defence on the base topic.
I have a simple question to ask and a scenario which i want your response or contribution for.
Treating mock cases are used in proper citadels of learning to simulate real life situations during high management trainees.

CASE

You are wrongly accused by your neighbour over what you did not do. He proactively claims you are the thief carting away other people's belongings in the yard/compound/estate (choice depends on you). Just yesterday night you caught the same man stealing and he begged you he would eschew his bad ways. The morning after he lays the allegation on you to checkmate if you would truly tell or keep his sins secret.
This irrational behaviour got you angry and thus you pounced on him. He pounces back. You both engage in a mild scuffle which irrespective of the weakness of your blows resulted in the death of the man (ur neighbour).
Does the law have the right to charge you for murder or manslaughter?
Deep within you, it was an accident that occured on wrong accusation which you alone know.

The truth is you will be charged to court. You have committed a serious crime. All you will be pleading for is leniency in judgement.

Thus relating the above mock case to the real case study (the topic), the R/Admiral played to the gallery to have been unfortunate to have this stubborn, heady and brave babe on his right of way. The deed has been done. Imagine while dragging her she passes away? And that cameraman recorded it as contained on that short clip we all saw, and the story still remains that her demise was caused because she did not let the most revered Aro or his bodydogs their right of way.

Let us detach our judgement from the persons or characters involved in this reality movie. But sensibly argue if it was right for a Nigerian to be so treated by another without having committed any heinous crime. More people are being harrassed by these miscreants in uniforms because nothing has been done since this incident happened. A journalist manhandled, a policeman killed by men of the same Navy all in a spate of 2 weeks.

Whatever the devil or demon that possessed Uzoma on the said day must have been informed or sent by those unjustly treated by miltary men(Her pa inclusive) in the past. I still maintain that Oga Aro had an opportunity to save his head and receive an applause even after the beating which would have made Uzoma seem stupid for being stubborn or disrespectful to the sweet blarin of intimidating siren. All he needed to do was to stylishly calm her down, appease her with cool words at the same time advice her against her attitude. This would have silenced all of us. Instead he chose to ride in pride, arrogance and smugness. Boasting about how she would have been killed. Despite the fact that they were alone in the room.

Tolerance is key. For a change in our society we must learn to accomodate other people's excesses. She received a price for her stubborness and intolerance(severe beating) the R/Admiral must also pay the price for his too.

ajadrage:

One cannot be too shocked that this sort of thing is happening in Nigeria. It is a sad reflection of the siege that we have been involuntarily placed under by the legacy of militarism, prebendalism and corruption. The lady is fortunate that she was not shot and that providence was on her side that this shame be captured on camera. What if all these factors were not in play? What if the assault ended her life? What if this barbarism was not on camera? What if the men in uniform were to be labeled unknown soldiers?

The issue should not be the problem of the untrained officers alone nor should it be the kind of parenting that the victim was exposed to. Neither should it be viewed under any ecclesiastical principle on repercussion, the culpability should be that of those in authority and how they have managed to mismanage the very essence of our dignity and self respect. This incident is not acceptable under any circumstance and it could have been any other person. All those crying "crucify them", are they innocent enough to cast the first stone? The blaring of sirens if I remember correctly has been banned from Nigerian roads, why is this Naval chief still blaring he's? Even the guys at the National Assembly where the lady's dad works blare sirens and chase us off of the roads in their intimidating convoy, political officers of all shades and hue also do this and sometimes too, one is harassed by just anybody that has any sort of access to state power.

The post is not about the daughter of a big wig who has been assaulted, but because the dignity and self respect of humanity continue to be infringed upon by a state that shows a total disregard for the security and welfare of her citizens. The outcry made here should not end here, it should not end with just the trial of the offending officers, rather it should involve an individual trial of ourselves. Do we show a respect, a sanctity of life, tolerance, justice in our dealings with our fellow human being? If we do not, then we are not less guilty than those guys with the uniforms and the guns. Maybe if someone realizes that they might pay a hundred million bucks for some assault, they might think twice before acting in an animalistic manner grin

You have replied very well.

Like I have earlier posted on this thread, even prior to my seeing the video, I terribly condemned the action of the Lady in question to have confronted those ranting ratings. But does that mean we can never enforce our fundamental human rights? Does that mean it is right for us to always live in fear even though the wisest thing is to continue to accept intimidation? I sincerely cannot do what she did because I will trepidate at the blare of the siren not to talk of seeing them an inch close to my vehicle. But someday it will end.

I also stated that if we consider who her Pa is, then she deserves no sympathy from anyone because he is as guilty as Madmiral Aro. But that should not be our consideration. The clamour is for it to stop.

I am still disgusted at the scene and picture on that short clip. Let us fear God. Those guys dragged that Lady. She never wriggled out of her dress. Uzoma has done what we all have been unable to do. From her interview you will see that the struggle is hers and her father does not seem to support her either. All praise to almighty God she is alive to tell the story.

It is only in Africa that positions do not come with moral discipline. The higher you go the more you are allowed to behave with reckless abandon. At that level they should have been sensitive to know that such controversy will trail their actions.

I care less about the 100million Naira damages she has sued for but for justice to be done. For the souls of all that have departed through similar ways and injustice. In Lagos you sincerely do not have to be stubborn to be maltreated by military or paramilitary personnels. What if it was a learner that was caught up in the traffic with those guys and he or she got stuck right infront of the convoy? Is it right to start whipping without asking questions or even attempt helping?

No amount of defence put up by anybody or group of bodies can justify the action. Enough is enough. Nigeria media this is a wake up call. Nigerians are not animals.

Sisi Jinx:

This is a joke right?

What is AMAZING is how hypocritical WE are. What did Layo Arogundade do? Was she in the video? Was she holding the horse whip? Was she cheering the men as the did their dastardly deeds? Her only crime here is have an ass for a father. . . something she didn't even have a hand in and you think it's okay for her to be punished for that? Tell me, can you honestly say you will be okay if people decide to punish you for every bad thing you dad has done. Yeaah, let forget about dealing with the criminals, we'll just go for their descendants, why it would make things soooo much easier because if we don't get them this decade, we'll just wait for their 10 years child to grow up and get 'em them. Oh Why wait until they are grown? why not just rustle up the kiddies right now and throw 'em in the paddywagon. . . JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED!!!

I think you should take your own words to heart and check yourself or purge yourself first before saying things because when you think there is nothing wrong with an innocent paying for a crime she had no hand in, then there is SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG SOMEWHERE!!!!!

I do not think you decoded that paragraph properly. I am amazed(astonished, stunned, shocked, startled), not that it is good nor that i condone the idea that someone will proffer such measures. The next sentence equalised the person with the bodydogs that beat up Uzoma. It is the person I referred to purge him or herself first. And so on and so forth till the end of the paragraph. Thus your reply was to concur with my view. I hope you understand now. smiley

Well said, santavista! smiley

@ Richblack,
Thanks for the interview excerpts.
This lady made a lot of sense.
Her father even persuaded her to let it go.
I am sure he had not seen the clip before compelling her.
Oga Aro had a golden opportunity to salvage the situation and save his head by saying 'sorry' but blew it by saying 'you could have been shot'.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with her demanding an open apology on the pages of the dailies. I am sure it will achieve results because others will be careful not to make such mistake again especially when all Nigerians have turned Paparazzi with the advent of camera phones.
If the Nigerian government let this matter go unchecked and unresolved to a logical conclusion we will take it to the world press.
This must stop. It must stop. I hate those words "You could have been shot" if truly he said it. Reducing humans to animals.
It is only a pity that most of our media houses are owned by criminals whose sole objective is to make money by blackmail and pretence.
This story should remain a headliner until a law is promulgated abolishing and barring any military man or politician from intimidating other road users.
Once again the fight is not for Uzoma, but for every Nigerian. Who knows who is next?
I also doubt if this was blown out because she is a big man's daughter. It was exposed because she stood up for a just though risky course. With the crowd and that clip it would have attracted same awareness and reactions,

Chei Chei Chei

I have just seen the video for the first time. Unbelievable, unacceptable, unimaginable, unthinkable. That young woman was just too helpless. Dragged and pulled by those things called humans. In short I am visibly shaken by that short clip. Kilode, kilolefa? Haba who said she pulled off her shirt willingly? That is untrue. They exposed her unclothedness. That alone is highly condemnable coupled with the fact that she was slapped and humilated too. Harry Arogundade must pay for this. I can imagine if she was my sister or wife.

Please there is no such thing as defence for those responsible for this crime. The world demands an open apology. No amount paid as damages can erase this ugly stain and incident from our image. Shameless men on a poor girl. D girl be like SU self. Long skirt and blouse.
