By greed, I mean that aspiring geo-domainers should focus on making small sales, building confidence, and stepping it up g.r.a.d.u.a.l.l.y. It takes time, and that's one thing I've learnt from the OP of this thread (I'm yet to enroll for his private class though).

I was unrealistic with my pricing when I started out late last year, but after recording no sales for over 4 months, I had to start from page 1 ! From there, I learnt that sometimes, it's better to leave some money (or most of the money sef) on the table than to leave all of the money on the table. Or in one member's words, low sale is better than no sale.

My portfolio comprises fewer than 30 domains, most of which are just "hasty crap". But I'm happy I'm learning.

Very underrated advise. I learnt that late. First year of domaining, mistakes are allowed and into second, but by the end of second it should warrant capital punishment. Sometimes one needs a sale to make sales. A $100 will buy you ten names with which you can try again.

And one of the best advice one can get is to stick with niches and cities that pay. There are cities too, like Mesa, Richmond and San Juan, I will never touch again even though I sold a name or two in them. There are niches too, like Podiatrist, Barbershop, Tanning Salon, SEO, I won't touch even though I sold names there.

If a newbie can find the right balance. Niches that currently sell, cities that buy. Especially when they are working with very limited resources. Every month I try to experiment with at least one new niche to see how it goes. If they must buy a not-too-great city+/niche, then they must make sure it has great SEO metrics. Real Estate as a niche never fades.

The business is more than a competition now.

It's not really the competition that's my problem. I don't mind competition. It's more of the influx of some people who don't want to really learn, the influx of inferior and terrible names and outbounding them. I don't feel comfortable when I have AustinLawyer and the person with LawyerTxAustin is outbounding same name to enendusers.

I truly feel that in my heart, any domainer who really understands this business will consider so many things before regging and that will include making sure the endusers are not spammed to death. If they tire, geo domaining will suffer. Please guys check variants on Dan before regging. Let's help ourselves.

You have a point. Someone reported a solar sale here about some days, I already backordered a better variant before he reported that. I wanted to cancel but just took the risk because it's a better variant and I already backordered before he reported it. My conscience was clear. Two days after the name dropped, I sold it. Same day, there's another variant on Dan. But the person doesn't understand how the niche and its endusers operate or think.

The solution for me is to stick with the best variant. And this may sound selfish and unpopular, I don't think merely reporting sales help newbies. It may help a pro but not a newbie. E.g you can check the number of MortgageIT names on Dan after the last report. You'd be shocked to see a newbie buying about 10 hoping for sale and getting their heart broken even though this is not my wish.

The 20 percent won't be a problem if they will not ruin the model. Just imagine GoDaddy receiving a push for a name less than 60 days and even paying you same day. In what parallel universe? They will ruin it. The commission won't matter too much to me. They will ruin everything. From lead imports, to seeing the number of views, to seeing recently viewed, to fast customer support, to crypto payment. Those guys are archaic and still in 2000.
