When I need to compress pictures to any size I want, I use this site: https://compressnow.com/ you can compress it to any size you want by selecting the percentage of compression. You can compress 10 pictures at once, and you can download them at once or one after the other.Weldone chief for this educative thread.

First of all, I'm not selling bedsheets.
Secondly if you are currently in Abuja, you'll know its currently cloudy, so the environment is dark, a dark environment will definitely make white appear darker.
Thirdly, the bed was not made when the picture was taken, so it's quite rough.

Programming / Re: Please Have You Seen This Algorithm Question by SapphireYj: 1:30pm On Oct 04, 2021
Implemented in nodejs. Tested and its working fine as long as A.txt, B.txt, and C.txt are in same directory with this file. If you know javascript, its just converting this code to php.

const fs = require('fs')

const printRecursively = (path)=>{
let result = 0
try {
const data = fs.readFileSync(path)
let newfilePath
let dt = data.toString().split('\r\n')

dt.forEach(str=>{
let dtNum = +str

if(!isNaN(dtNum)){
result+=dtNum
}
else{
newfilePath = str
}
})

if(newfilePath){
result = result + printRecursively(newfilePath)
console.log(`${path} - ${result}`)

}
else{
console.log(`${path} - ${result}`)

}
return result
} catch (err) {
return console.log(err.message)
}
}

printRecursively('A.txt')

You are right about knowing two backend languages. I recommend PHP and java to people. PHP for startups and medium sized companies and java for enterprise level companies. The same thing you say about Nodejs is what I got told about but there's so few node jobs out there. It's just hyped up. And PHP isn't relevant because of wordpress. There's other platforms built with PHP which are very complicated and aren't known by a lot of Devs but they are widely used. Theres Moodle, there's Magento. The list is endless. Those platforms are why PHP is the major backend for the web. Most of the top universities in the world have their websites powered up by Moodle. I haven't started learning PHP and working with wordpress and jamstack sites for up to three months and the difference in my life is clear. I am still a junior developer with less than one year experience but I am on my third remote job and recently just got another offer. So I work for two companies presently with less than one year experience. One of them is even a well funded startup in California. I am building out the whole website in wordpress and React. Their major product is not on their website so the backend is powered by WordPress.
By your own admission, you are still new in this field. I am not new, and I am not a junior. I see myself more as an intermediate, mainly because I prefer to downplay my skills as a self critique in order to keep improving. I know people I am better than that refer to themselves as seniors. Anyways, all the seniors in this field I respect say DSA is important.Your approach may put money in your pocket faster, but on the long run, it may not look to be the best approach after all. I will only drop this one advice. This fella below. Tim Mensch, is one of the top senior programmers that answers questions on quora,follow him, and you will learn a lot. I forgot to add a point. Nodejs that you deride so much has the biggest package manager in the world (npm), yet nodejs is one of the youngest back-end languages out there.

Nicely written article except for a few points that were badly researched. There are fortune 500 coys using mongodb like eBay and Toyota
AWS was reselling mongodb and making hella of a profit. Mongodb Inc got mad and filed a million dollar lawsuit. AWS forked it and created their own
version aka DocumentDB and you say nobody uses mongodb in production? Stop spilling trash
I get it, you're seeking a following, but try as much as possible to filter out the grains from the chaff.
As for the other points, yes makes sense. Cheers.
You missed a point. He downplayed the importance of node, which is very misleading. I generally advice people to know more than one back-end language. Javascript running in nodejs environment is constantly one of them.The figures of PHP are largely misleading, because most sites on the internet are powered by word press, which uses PHP under the hood. The thing is, most of these sites are shitty sites with serious security issues,built by charlatans. There are several remote job opportunities for nodejs developers abroad, however, anyone that wants a race to the bottom price dragging with Indians on Freelancer.com and other freelancing sites, should stick to only PHP. PHP on its own is not a bad language, but it is prone to abuse by bad developers. However, for anyone that wants to focus on the Nigeria market alone, PHP is a better bet in terms of job opportunities.The thing is, nodejs will keep growing, albeit, gradually, because there are tones of sites already built with PHP before node came along, and they will need to be maintained. However, because of the ease of transition from using javascript only on front-end to using at the back-end, which node offers, more people will still use node going forward. Check the yearly developers survey on stackoverflow, and see where the industry is tilting to, also check stackoverflow jobs, and see tons of nodejs jobs advertised daily. My advice generally remains, know about 2 back-end languages.

Hello SapphireYj, can you explain this if you don't mind

How to find similarities between two sentences

Thank you

EDITED

(3/4 + 22-5/22 ) / 2 = 0.76

It took me a while to understand because it's in JS. Your code doesn't work well (it returns 0) if the '.' is added and if one should pass different things (it breaks sometimes).

I think the dot is important and the space won't be considered. That will give us

A total of 23 characters and an unsimilar/extra characters of 5 , if I'm to go by your calculation

23- 5/ 23 = 0.78 appr.

404Dev ,cixak95211 is this correct?

If no, what's the correct answer?
I quickly put the code together,but idealy,if I had the time,I would have tested the code more. I disagree regarding the space,it is important.One of the sentences had 3 spaces while the other had four. I agree with you on the dot,however,implementing regex for searching for punctuations like . , ; : ? etc and comparing them between sentences will require me to write a lot more code than i was willing to. My main target was to compare only the words provided, and since those words have a fullstop each, i didn't see the need to write code to handle them since they cancel each other out.If the spaces are the same,i wouldn't have bothered implementing code for handling spaces.

Who let the dogs out? Anyways, oga Elon Musk, I am only interested in your 7+ years experience of software programming youtube watching.
I just need you to solve the below:
Write an algorithm that shows the percentage of similarity between the sentences belo:
A. You still never blow.
B. You still never blow reach.
Expected answer is 78% similarity.
Feel free to use SO and the internet.

I got 76%. My code is below:

const findsimilar = (str,str1)=>{
if(str.length<str1.length){
let placeHolder = str
str = str1
str1 = placeHolder
}
const sp = str.match(/\s/g).length
const sp1 = str1.match(/\s/g).length
const spaceSimilarity = sp1/sp
if(str.includes(str1)){
const arr = str.split(' ')
const arr1 = str1.split(' ')
const wordCount = arr.join('').length
const unsimilarVals = arr.reduce((acc,val,i)=>{
if(arr1.includes(val)){
arr1.splice(i,1,'')
return acc + ''

}
else{
return acc + val
}
},'')

const wordSimilarity = (wordCount - unsimilarVals.length)/wordCount
const similarity = ((spaceSimilarity + wordSimilarity)/2).toFixed(2)
return `${similarity*100}%`
}
else{
return '0%'
}
}
console.log(findsimilar('You still never blow reach','You still never blow'))

I just quickly put this together for fun.I didnt use internet or stack overflow.It will be interesting to see your implementation and how you got 78%.Thanks.

Investment / Re: Remote Work Opportunity - Earn 1 Million Naira by SapphireYj: 5:01pm On Dec 31, 2020
Good afternoon,
You said: 'Remuneration is 1 Million Naira payable at the end of the engagement'.
That sentence is quite vague,and further clarification can help provide answers to questions like:

1. How long will the engagement last? 1 million may be a good deal or a bad deal. It all depends on the tenure of the project.

2. Also, promising that writers will be paid after the conclusion of the project is perhaps a strategy that ought to be reconsidered. I believe it is better to spread payment over the duration of the project, because this will give the writers assurances that they will be paid if they keep writing, rather than creating anxiety of default in payment upon project completion.

These are my observations. Have a nice day.

Bought a brand new ps3 slim from Favricc, and he delivered as promised. The game was delivered to me in Abuja, all the way from Lagos,as brand new,and it was hacked too as he promised. His customer service is top notch. He responds quickly to messages,and goes out of his way to ensure you are satisfied and get value for money. He even added a free ps3 disk as a bonus. If you want to buy a ps3, ps4 or ps5 console or game, please dont hesitate to buy from him. He is trustworthy and honest!

Video Games And Gadgets For Sale / Ps3 Slim Console For Sale by SapphireYj: 2:09pm On Nov 15, 2020
Full disclosure first : The console needs some work to be put in optimal condition. The issues are:
1. The hdmi port works sometimes and there are times it doesn't work.The AV port works all the time though.
2. When playing a game, it freezes after about 20 to 30 minutes of gameplay, and will have to be restarted.

I don't know a competent repairer that can fix the console, so I will rather sell it off to a buyer that can get it fixed.However, if you know a very good repairer that can fix it,and you don't want to buy, please send me his number.

The price is 18k, slightly negotiable.
Note: I assume the cost of fixing it, should be in the range of 5k to 20k, so the console total cost will still be below 40k, which is still below the market price of this console.

Please, don't price it like cray fish o grin, if I don't get a decent offer, I would rather just remove the hard drive of the console and forget about the console.
Below are images of the console and game play.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Viewing Centre Owners Thread by SapphireYj: 6:54am On Jun 12, 2020
Hello viewing center chairmen in the house.Please, I am considering setting up a viewing center in one of the satellite towns in Abuja. By my estimation, it will cost me around 600k to 700k to set one up. I hope my estimation is accurate?
Also, I want to know the estimated average profit I should expect to make in a month from the viewing center.I understand that patronage will depend largely on the population density and high percentage of youths in the area the viewing center will be located, and I will look for a place with a high youth population.
I am also considering using a section of the viewing center for setting up ps3 and ps4 gaming.Anyone with experience in this should also shed a light please.
Thanks very much for all your anticipated inputs.
Programming / Re: I Find It Hard Learning Javascript...i Need Help by SapphireYj: 7:33pm On May 02, 2020
Marijn Harverbeke is a damn good programmer. But his book:eloquent js is not for beginners. Even though I was already good in the use of javascript at the time I read the book some years back, I still struggled with some of his complex examples. Like the algorithm he wrote to calculate the route through a city. I finished the book though, but it was not an easy read. At times it seemed he intentionally wanted to confuse his students. Lol. Although I later learnt in my programming journey that you need good understanding of trees data structure to adequately grasp calculating of routes through a big city or country.
