Many years ago I was where you are now.

I took the road less traveled. I settled for a career in Nigeria.

I got a job in a Big 4. Then moved on to an FMCG, where the perks are much higher!

On education, I got chartered, and I'm finishing an MBA.

On family, I got married to my best friend from University, and I just made my first baby.

Do I regret not moving to the US to join my mom, a US citizen?

I do. Every. Single. Minute.

Why? Nigeria is a very uncertain place to stay and thrive. You could be up there in the sky today and the next week you're back on the mud. In a country of many poor people, you run the risk of becoming a victim of crime due to envy...post COVID-19 it'll get worse.

Look at you at 30. You're dithering. You're pussyfooting.

Look at me at 28. I still regret the mistake my 25 year old self made. I'm pushing daily to leave Nigeria.

I want to leave, not because I'm broke in Nigeria, but the collective poverty in this country scares me...

Most crimes committed today are more out of envy and hunger than of greed.

Please migrate and start a new career. There is nothing for you here, just go and get a new life. Don't let your kids be the lowlifes in the family and ask why you did not move when all your siblings were moving.

I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.

The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.

I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.

I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.

However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.

I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?

My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?

The first thing is to use a good hospital so you can trust your doctors judgement. If the doctor says you need to be induced then its best to do the induction. I have 4 kids and I was induced for 3 out of the 4. It went well with no complications. If you are already overdue and all is well with you and the baby the doctor will probably suggest induction and not a c section. The final choice is yours you could decline induction and go straight to a c section

My baby girl came at exactly 36weeks through vaginal birth. It was a short, fulfilling experience.

I had been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions since like 6months in pregnancy. I wasn't worried. At the beginning of 36weeks or thereabout ,the contractions started coming with menstrual like aches. I quickly arranged to complete the packing of few remaining items for my hospital box as I didn't want to be caught unawares.

I went to market and added my last few remaining items to my box. That night, I started experiencing what I knew where the real contractions. It came with serious pain. I tried to be breathing in and out through them so as to conserve my energy for delivery like we had been taught here and in antenatal. It worked. I could control myself and manage the contractions better by not shouting. I was writhing, groaning and opening/closing mouth Upandan. Next day, being a Sunday... I prepared to go to church. My husband asked if I will be able to. I said let me try. That most times, the contractions respect themselves when I'm in church based on my Braxton Hicks experience.

When I was returning from church, na then e hook me again. I just managed to get to my home. Another dimension of labour started towards evening. It was coming more frequently. Like 10-15 mins. 8-5 mins. Irregularly but frequently and more intense.
My husband and I didn't want to get to the hospital and be sent home that we were still 2/4cm dilated. So we stayed on contemplating whether to go in the morning of the next day or to go later that night.

I had failed induction during my first and the baby later died out of distress. Induction is NOT well monitored in most hospitals. However, God leads and I believe yours will end in praise. I would say you follow your heart.
For me, I go embrace CS than go on induction.

What's is our take on induction.
I am 40weeks without any signs of labour. The doctor has advised we do once its 41 weeks next week. However I am thinking of trying induction first but my husband is discouraging me. He says induction is not properly monitored and can go wrong and cause issue.
Please I need people who have experienced induction and general take on this mater.

Wow,why will you do that?...please stay very far away from unripe pawpaw and pineapple as they make the uterus contract and could lead to miscarriage or preterm labour...so we were told at my antenatal class....if you crave it,just try to suppress it till after 9 months.

How are we all? We are almost there. Counting down, just 1months left. God has made it easy for us.
I hope we have packed our hospital bag, very important. Even if you haven't finished shopping, pack the ones you have gotten and then you'd know it's just to throw in the remaining ones when you get them.
