debosky: His standing leg did. A cross came, was missed by his shooting led and got deflected. So how can a player deflect his own shot with his own standing leg? Debosky, stop smoking woolies. Scholesy scored a perfect goal. Debatable - allowing a player to run in between you so casually is poor marking. You would NEVER get that type of chance against Chelski. Saha of Everton got plenty of those chances against Chelsea. Dinho had three shots on goal - higher than anyone else in the Milan team. Only one of em was potent. The other two were back-passes that VDS smothered easily. 10 minutes in which he scored one and created one - not a bad shift at the office I think. Not a bad shift but Rafael was decent. I am so happy for him. He would learn from this. Not too many 19-yr-old players will cope with Dinho. Yeah right - Dinho's brilliance left Evans flat on his face for the goal - go watch the replay. What brilliance? A through pass and Seedorf's trickery? Debosky, admit it. . . . .U are disappointed United won. . . . . 6 months ago, you were ranting like a Camel United would miss Ronaldo. |

RuuDie: @ sauron, its not a question of being spoilt - UTD's play can be very annoying atimes; there are times when we just have to be ruthless and shed this notion of showing respect to the opposition. IMHO this Milan team is 1 that should be put away very easily - see what Inter did to them!? The current AC Milan side is very lightweight, they do not have very good options on the bench, their squad is fcu.king aged to near-extinction, their play is pitiably predictable!!!!!! What Inter did to them does not come into play here!!! Inter V AC Milan is a derby game. Form goes outta the window in such games and besides, United had a mental block. We have never scored at San Siro so you don't expect things to go smoothly especially after conceding in the first 3 mins. Eastbay: Sauron, Nani was rubbish.I still maintain:his problem is consistency (and therefore mental),not playing on the right. Valencia's first contribution was setting up Rooney to score.Something Nani couldn't do while he was on the pitch. Nani wasn't rubbish. Our strikers were flat-footed. Half of the crosses he supplied were good crosses but our performance was generally poor in the 1st half. Valencia came in when Favalli was fazzed out. He is 38 years of age so the odds favoured Valencia to have him skinned. . . .Nani had to deal with Antonini. |

debosky: A goal is a goal - Scholes scored courtesy of a deflection. . .was it not a goal? How was Scholesy's goal a deflection? Are you high? Who deflected the ball into the net? The youngster goofed? Didn't the CB's goof to allow Rooney two headers? Does that mean Rooney offered nothing? The CBs didn't goof. They had no answer to Rooney's timing and well-executed headers. I know Ronaldinho is not at his peak, but he had a very decent performance against Utd, albeit not excellent. He was better than Huntelaar, Pato and virtually every other Milan player on the pitch. Agreed! Huntelaar was anonymous. He worked VDS more than anyone else - and Rafael didn't keep him quiet for as long as you think, it was more down to the shot stopping ability of VDS than anything else. He didn't work VDS more than anyone else. . . .Pato was also immense and i think Seedorf did more than Dinho despite playing for just 20 mins. Eastbay: He scored courtesy of a deflection on a shot that was going to be saved, then was kept quiet by Rafael, till the youngster goofed and allowed for the assist. In between,he offered nothing other than needless flicks and tricks. Even you should know this is NOT the Ronaldinho we all knew and loved once upon a time.Do we need to argue on this? In all honesty, Rafael owned Dinho for over 80 mins. He just couldn't get past Rafael who kept dispossessing Dinho time n time again. Naivety got the better of young Rafael when he lost the ball at the death and Milan got their late goal. |

Ronaldinho was fantastic. . . . .although he has lost a yard of pace. We were terrible in the first 45 mins and i think Dinho's goal knocked off United's sail after the first goal. Anyways, we keep marching on!!!!
I have to say Darren Fletcher was a BEAST out there tonight. He owned their midfield. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread! We Are The Red Devils! by Sauron1: 11:37pm On Feb 16, 2010 |
Eastbay: I guess we are a little down psychologically, first for conceeding that late goal, and then the sending off. But I expect us to go through. Ronaldinho is just fizzled out.Nothing capped his Milan career than the missed bicycle kick. Beckham did playing in the press conferences before the game.Fletcher harried him like he was never a United player once upon a time.Actually sad to see look him so ordinary.Goes to say:once you leave United, your carrer doesn't go much further. Everton at Goodison is a much harder prospect, but if Felaini is missing, that would be a boost for us. The whole team had a mare in the first half. . . . .VDS kept us in the game. Scholesy's goal came at the right time and it gave us some sorta belief to go n batter em. Rooney shoulda copped his hatrick and if he continues to deliver like he is doing. . . . .I think he might just win the WPOTY!!!! He terrorised Nesta all night. |

RuuDie: Just as it was 3/4 seasons back when Milan came to O.T and lost 3-2. . . . . back then it was absolutely certain that they could overturn it but this time the tables are turned and they have to come to O.T looking for a win - not a very admirable position to be in.
We've seen tonight that those tired old legs of the rossoneri cannot go the distance, UTD are surely in the 1/4z. We should beat em 3-1 at OT!!! |

16 games unbeaten away from home in the CL is a decent record if u ask me But we still WON away from home. I think United fans are too spoilt these days. How many teams can go to a fully-packed San Siro and score 3 goals? Give credits to the lads. U woulda taken 1-1 result after the 1st half when every player on the pitch had a stinker. This tie is effectively over. I hope Fergie starts Obertan, Owen, Fabio, Gibson and Diouf in the return leg at OT!!! |

Pathetic clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool will sit up with this schitzo. I hate the fact that Arsene Wenger can line up mediocre players and still qualify for the UCL week in week out. I have heard a lot of people say one is the best but they do not know why its the best, so here we are going to figure out which one is the best but with facts.
I would ask for all to respect each others views so that we can conclude this before the year runs out.
Hoping to hear from all you true gaming fans. PS3 rules but if you have grannys/kids in the house, then Wii is the best option. X-Box is horribly shyte. The controllers are too big to manipulate. Those controllers are meant for Apes and Gorillas with huge palms. |

debosky: @ Dudu
Abramovic's arrival is the weak excuse we keep hearing. Did Abramovich stop Liverpool from winning the CL in 2005? Did it stop them from making another final appearance a few years after that? How much have Liverpool spent compared to us?
Arsenal has been underperforming - that is the reality. Holding on to 07/08 and 05/06 is well and good, but what happened in 06/07? CC final right? moving to a new stadium right? All well and good.
The nature of the abject failures in 08/09 are enough to make anyone feel this system is not working - you still end up losing one or two vital cogs in the summer and that gap is never filled. In after 07/08 we lost Flamini, Hleb and Gilberto. After 08/09 we lost Ade and Kolo, and only replaced Kolo. If we end up trophy-less this season again (as it appears will happen) we're on course to lose another 'big' player - Gallas, Arshavin or Cesc or a combination of the three.
If/when that happens, we'll be back to our 'nearly' position once again.
PS - Utd have always spent big, so claiming they started spending to 'match' Chelski is disingenuous - they bought Stam, Bellion, Djemba-Djemba, Veron, RVN among other big name expenditures during the period when we were going head to head for titles - as a result, it was no surprise for them to pay so much for Rooney, Hargo and Rio after that period.
Utd will continue to be able to buy players as their bond deal frees up their cash to continue to buy players. If we fail to buy the marquee players to give us the edge, or at least show sufficient desire to win or pick up a 'minor' trophy like the FA cup (NOT CC) we will end up going through the same cycle yet again. Their youth players are often better than ours, especially in defence, and they have as good as, if not a better pull for young British talent. They are able to keep squad members happy, even when not playing frequently - we seem to lack that ability.
The best teams keep their best players, and only sell when they are confident they have sufficient replacements - not Arsenal! We sell too early and end up spending the next 18 months building up someone to take up the same role, after which we repeat the same flaw in yet another part of the team.
We keep being in the 'nearly there' mode. . . .till we find a solution to that, I forsee losing someone integral yet again and being back to square one. Brilliant post!!! Wenger has managed to pull the wool over Duduspace's eyes. . . .The whole Arsenal youth policy is a MYTH!! Wenger has been using the phrase "the team is maturing" for ages now. How can it be if it's average age remains so young? This has been going on for 5 years now. The answer, of course, is that the players leave once mature, and so you are always in a development phase. |

Madrid really missed Abidal & Alves.
Your defence bar Puyol was a shambles. A reason for this might be cuz Keita had to go off injured. Athletico were good value. Aguero, Forlan and Reyes sodomised Barca time n time again. The second Athletico goal was a beauty. The freekick was beautifully struck n Valdes had no answer. Barca were useless. Ibrahimovic was the worst player on the pitch even though scored a tap-in from a corner. It was a classic and Aguero outshone Messi. Aguero was a constant threat throughout. La Liga will go down to the wire after this result. |
