dipoolowoo:
By Dipo Olowookere

A Nigerian billionaire clergyman, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has finally remarried after divorcing his former wife, Mrs Yemisi Iginla.

Mr Iginla, who is the General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Abuja, had in March 2019 personally announced the end of his marriage to Yemisi, who has been alleged to have remarried in the United States of America afterwards.

According to a statement made available to Business Post by one of the cleric’s media handlers on Wednesday night, Prophet Iginla has finally divorced his wife over infidelity and has moved on permanently with his new wife, a prophetess whom we learnt has been a source of peace and happiness to him.

Meanwhile, the man of God, one of the humblest clergies who has chosen his resources to impact the less privileged and the needy, is adding another year today, Thursday, May 21, 2020.

The Abuja-based seer, who is arguably one of the richest prophets globally with acquisition of private jets, mega parishes across the world and ultra-modern buildings home and abroad, didn’t just emerge as an influential and successful man, there are several mind-blowing stories behind his success.

How would one describe a man who rose from nothing to something, a man who was an object of mockery in town, a man who couldn’t afford to eat a two—square meal a day, becoming a man whom every influential person in the world wants to reckon with?

Mr Iginla can be likened to one who was never expected to be successful, but against all odds, woke up to success and started living it.

Little wonder one of the favourite topics to preach for him is God’s grace. Of a truth, grace has visited the man of God and decided to live with him for the rest of his life, judging by the success he has attained.

Prophet Iginla, when he started ministry, used to hold service in a room where 20 people can’t stay comfortably, meaning he had a very small congregation too, but today, his ministry can boast of an 80,000-seater auditorium built in Abuja and South Africa without the support of anyone.

The same cleric that had a small congregation can now boast of hundreds of thousand members who throng his church at every service, including weekdays.

On every May 21, which happens to be his birthday, Brother Joshua Iginla, as he loves to be called, celebrates grace and extends it to his members, widows, less privileges, well-wishers, to mention a few.

During a birthday celebration, he once gave out 32 cars and another 22 vehicles. If one is to count the number of cars the man of God has given out, it would be over 200 by now, for someone who had nothing.

Surprisingly, Joshua Iginla has given out houses, landed properties, cash gifts, to the desolates, the needy, widows and placed over 200 people on lifetime salary.

The Nollywood movie industry will never forget him for his magnanimity towards actors and actresses. He has given them cars, paid hospital bills of a lot of them, given some of them houses and placed many of them of life-time salary.

As a prophet, he has foretold several prophecies that have come to pass. Some of them include the coming of Coronavirus, President Buhari’s deteriorating health condition, the outcome of elections, to mention a few.

No doubt, Brother Iginla has enjoyed God’s grace, he is a true recipient of God’s grace because it keeps increasing, day by day.

As another May 21 hits the corner, one would remember his popular saying that, it’s not a show off but an opportunity to showcase the mercy and Grace of God upon his life and through him to this generation.

Business › Re: How To Raise Capital/Loans From Banks, Other Lenders by SavageResponse(m): 4:41pm On May 20, 2020
Adtenven:
Getting a business loan continues to be a huge task for most business owners in Nigeria. The statistics are better in developed and serious emerging economies in the world. In Nigeria however and this due to a myriad of reasons (both external and internal to the business), a lot of businesses have failed while many continue to struggle day to day without any hope of scaling to the next level in their aspirations.

At this point, it is noteworthy to say that a lot of the reasons why businesses fail to raise capital from lenders (banks, etc) are due to their own failings themselves. In other words, business owners would be better positioned for a consideration of their loan applications if they are able to put in place lots of the things a typical lender is looking out for in an applicant.

By the way, it is needless to say that the money you are seeking from the bank is also being kept in custody of the bank (it does not belong to the bank but to individual and corporate depositors alike) and these funds are at a cost to the bank i.e. the bank will not only return the money to the depositor when demanded, it will also return it with interest. It is therefore important for banks to be entirely sure that you/your business is able to return the loan capital plus interest as at when due.
In this thread by the grace of God, I will be sharing to the SME community how you can structure yourself and your business for your loan approval across various lenders (commercial banks, microfinance banks, marketplace lenders). A lot of people will not even dare approach a commercial bank for a loan because of the belief that commercial banks don’t give loans to SMEs. Like I said, this is largely true because the business is not worthy (as currently structured) of a loan. Some are also suited for micro-lending but instead, they approach commercial banks and without even filling any form, they are turned down.

Why should you listen to me?

I need to state here that I am not here to sell any eBook. I spent over 12 years in the banking sector with various experience in branch management across, operations and business development/relationship management with lots of interface with business analysts, credit appraisal and risk managers. In less than 5 months after I exited the sector, I secured 50% funding for a multi-million naira project (after I decided to commence my entrepreneurial journey fully).

At a point in this lecture series, depending on responses, I would select 5 businesses that have had their loan applications rejected before by helping to repackage the business for a loan application/approval. Businesses who have not applied before too will be considered. I am not given any guarantees but be rest assured that you and your business will be the better for it. There are instances where a business that has received one or more loans in the past would have an application turned down may be due to economic events in the businesses’ sector etc. There are also instances where a bank turns down a loan application only for another bank to approve the same application.

I am doing this to freely share of the knowledge that I have as I see a lot of business owners struggle as a result of lack of knowledge. Like I said, I am not giving any guarantees. The best of business plans still fail in reality but every experience makes you a better entrepreneur in your journey to realizing your dreams.

In my next write up, I will be sharing various kinds of business loans available in commercial banks and alternative/marketplace lenders and which are relevant to most SMEs. A lot of us don’t even know that our business activities/operations can be easily funded by a bank.
Another section will include “reasons why business loan applications are turned down and what you should do about it.” It will also cover “what lenders are looking for in your application and business.” This is major and the whole essence of this lecture. I will also be covering loan applications to some of the development banks we have in Nigeria such as Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture etc

Success!!!
Nigerian entrepreneurs should learn to be truthful in their dealings and maintain high levels of integrity...I think that should be the starting point!
Business › Re: Why Nigerian Entrepreneurs Should Invest In Agro Export by SavageResponse(m): 4:37pm On May 20, 2020
Ltrust:
WHY NIGERIAN ENTREPRENEURS SHOULD INVEST IN AGRO EXPORT
INTRODUCTION
Businesses abound but one veritable business idea would be the export of agro products. Agro export industry is a huge industry globally and figures amount to value over billions of dollars in total verifiable transaction. On the national level, it is also a huge market with a total value of export amounting to 4.69 trillion Naira. According to the Nigeria Bureau of statistics, agricultural export continues to top the charts with positive trade balances and crops worth over 73 billion Naira sold in a single quarter of this year. Export trade is given high priority around the world because of its many benefits inclusive of employment generation, increased national income, improved International cooperation and revenue to the government.

REQUIREMENT
In one sense, you will need to develop the right level of commitment, resilience, knowledge and structure to succeed in export. But in a real sense, a new exporter is expected by law to form and register a company with the corporate affairs commission.
The process of forming a company begins with the identification of the name of a new company. An application is then made to CAC, the Federal Government body responsible for the registration of business names and companies, if the name is approved and other specified conditions fully met, a certificate of incorporation will be issued to you upon payment of a fee. The CAC registration confers legal status on your business and it is a requirement for all other business-related registrations.

To be able to export, you will require an export license. This involves registering with the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) which is responsible for the promotion of non- Oil export and help exporters in accessing export markets. Having met their requirements, a registration certificate is issued which qualifies you as an exporter in Nigeria and renewable every two years. The introduction of the E-Registration process has made all registrations a seamless process with reduced cost and time and convenience in real-time. Other certificates and forms you might want to know about which might be needed include sanitary and phytosanitary certificate from the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services, NXP form for commercial banks, certificate of quality and fumigation from Federal Produce Inspection Service, Bill of Lading and Airway Bill from shipping company which is your evidence of carriage of goods.

These are basic requirements but know this about agro-export business, it is a sequential process. One process precedes the other and requires a lot of documentation and procedures. As a result, it is essential to acquire the necessary training. I strongly believe in the importance of training. Training should be specific, continuous and relevant. It should be acquired to solve the problem. It should make things happen and bring about changes to enable you equal to the challenges you will face in the agro-export business.

As a beginner, you will need some basic knowledge on how the export market works, documentation, Port procedures, guidelines, product sourcing, pricing etc. You choose your product interest, commodities you can easily access and made available to your buyers, in the right quality and quantity at a given time. You can decide to source your products from other sources or by producing yourself. Again, it has to be of acceptable quality in the target market. I have experiences of our products being rejected or destroyed in oversea countries due to poor quality and loosed packaging.

Now, I have this to tell you, your products should be adapted in term of quality, packaging and labelling only in line with the dictates of the target market. On the level of the small scale export, your packaging should be firm to withstand long-distance transport. Generally, the mode of shipment will determine the type of packaging to use. Packaging should take into consideration the customers requirement, international standards and regulations applicable in the target market.

OTHER REQUIREMENT
At the base, an Exporter needs to choose between exporting directly or through an intermediary. The choice of the distribution channel depends on the very nature of the market, skills and finance. To understand further, direct exporting involves advertising the products at the target market.

Surely, participation in international trade fairs and trade missions help access the market. You will do your due diligence by checking on the credibility of prospective buyers. On your part, sharp practices are not allowed. High-quality products attract high prices and in export, high-quality products and services will increase your chances of success. Also, branding gives product identity and recognition. A well-known brand wins customer loyalty and are hard to displace in the world market.

Furthermore, there is a vital part of export called desk research to establish the size of the population, growth rate, market entry strategies and distribution channels. You might choose to visit the target market to verify your desk research and undertake an assessment on the ground by known existence of products similar to yours, the value of the imports, import tariff, market requirements, per capita income, availability and cost of transport and contacts in the target market.

Next, develop an export marketing plan. In short, carrying out desk research is one thing but developing an export marketing plan is another thing of equal importance. The two steps are interdependent. In a sense, it is sequential but simultaneous in another sense. Both senses are right because you must carry out some research before you can develop your plan of action.

You do not need to be a giant manufacturer to venture into the agro-export trade. All you need is a market, the right information and to develop the intended skills. You will also need a product which can be adapted to meet the market standards and requirements, the right price to make your products competitive, financial and human resources to develop your export business. You will need an export promotion organization; a focused, dedicated and competent export promotion organization will provide you with the necessary market information and marketing skills that will give you a competitive edge in the world marketplace.

On the skill level, you must develop an integrated response of managerial and coordinated skills. This is not because it pays, but that export trade is a coordinated, stage to stage processes with an ultimate goal to satisfy the needs of your buyer in the oversea country. As an exporter, you must understand you play a vital role of a leader and a manager. Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right. You will lead people but you manage and control things. In export, you have to manage money, cost, information, time, structure, systems, processes, inventory, physical resources, tools, and facilities. Proper management of these resources will ensure your success because over time, you will develop some operating economics due to specialization of these processes enabling you to become and ultimately exceed the challenges in export business.

OPPORTUNITIES
Business opportunities in agro-export are boundless. It opens up a whole and new areas of expanding value chains with opportunities for a new exporter to start an income-earning business of his own. The agro-export business is a very lucrative endeavour anyone can be engaged due to the abundance of many products that can be exported from Nigeria to many countries across the world.

From the temperate regions of the East to the coastal areas of the south and the semi-arid regions of the North are arable land that produces export-ready crops each having its harvest season ensuring the availability all year round. I hope you know each crop has its season and agro-export is a seasonal business requiring one to understand the seasonal effect on commodity prices. Example, ginger is an exportable commodity, it’s planting season starts in June while harvest begins in November. Sesame seed is another fine export commodity, it’s planting period starts in August and harvesting begins from November to July of the following year. Like all other business, export trade is subject to the law of demand and supply. Increased supply of a commodity will reduce product prices but an increased demand with reduced supply will raise commodity prices.

Now, how do you find export opportunities? When you get involved in an export type of business, you will need to chase opportunities along the way. You pay attention to the trading process to break into new markets but you will need to cut cost doing this. Here, management will be your enabling art enabling you to save for serious investment. And even with good guidance, your perseverance will be valuable because it takes some time until you break into a new market with the perfect export products. If you follow the basic principle, I am sure you will break new ground in oversea countries, thus achieve a new level of financial success you could have only have imagined.

Finally, have an avid taste for information, check export statistics, choose your country of destination wisely, stay active online, talk to experts, evaluate your chances, have a good plan of action and create a bridge between your plan and success.

BUSINESS POTENTIAL
What is the business potential of agro-export trade? With cashew nut and in specific, the kernel in introspects, cashew kernel export is a promising market. According to recent statistics from NEPC, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Poland, France, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Lithuania and Ireland are the top ten markets with the largest untapped potential for Nigeria cashew kernel export. Vietnam is currently the largest export destination for Nigeria cashew kernels with average yearly exports of 3.4milliona dollars. It is also Nigeria’s largest competitor on a global scale. Poland is a small market for Nigeria but France is a new market.

For ginger, untapped markets exist in Netherland, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Japan, Bangladesh, Canada, Malaysia, Germany, UAE and Italy. Estimated untapped potential is largest in the Dutch market with 4.5 million dollars of additional export to be reached up till 2021. The Netherland and UK are very interesting. There is a lot of additional export potential there. Try to access new markets like Pakistan, Japan and Bangladesh. Also, keep trying to expand export in Germany and the UAE.

Sesame seeds also offer promising markets with Asian countries leading the pack. China, Japan, Korea Republic, Mexico, Poland, France, Lebanon, USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom are the real markets. A real market is a positive market with China, the largest estimated untapped potential for Nigeria with over 110 million dollars in value. Sesame seed exports from Nigeria offers plenty of room for growth with over 170 million dollars untapped potential for the ten interesting destinations. Finally, try to increase focus on emerging markets of South Korea, Mexico and Poland.

Business › Re: Why Starting A Business Outside Lagos Is More Profitable. by SavageResponse(m): 4:32pm On May 20, 2020
databoy247:
Nigeria has over 21 ports with Lagos alone having up to 5 seaports including Tin Can Island port and Apapa port. In fact, Apapa port accounts for more than 30% of all cargo shipments in all Nigerian seaports combined.

Most companies have domiciled their main offices and warehouses in Lagos because of access to some of the busiest ports in the country. It’s easier and more convenient to move goods imported to Nigeria straight to your warehouse right there in Lagos than the rest of the country.

This trend brought about more companies moving to Lagos and with it, more people. Now, everyone wants to relocate to Lagos because of a growing perception that there are more opportunities in Lagos than anywhere else in Nigeria.

I wouldn’t blame them. The Lagos state government has been known to attract investors and companies with friendly economic environments, policies, and access to more profitable private/public sector partnerships.

The result of this is an influx of population. Companies began fighting for dominance. After all, if you can dominate Lagos, you can probably dominate Nigeria.

The coast is fixed, the levels all clear, and the competition began. This created more room for real estate developers to “expand” Lagos which has also led to more and more people moving to Lagos.

Now, Lagos now has an estimated 21 million people (2016 estimates) making it the largest city in Africa.

Little wonder, every startup wants to be domiciled in Lagos. Every foreign company wishing to expand its global presence to Nigeria prefers Lagos.

But what startups and SMEs don’t know…

Firstly, Lagos has the highest number of micro-enterprises in Nigeria – 3,224,324 SMEs. The least is Kwara state with less than 300 SMEs. This means the competitive rate for businesses to thrive in Lagos is way more than average.

Secondly, in Lagos, over 70% of the population spend between 60 – 80% of their earnings on rents. The average salary in Lagos is between N50,000 – N250,000. This is less than $700 USD. And most of these income earners have the capacity to save no more than N20,000 monthly. They spend more trying to survive than purchase luxury.

Despite the seemingly attractive large population, Lagos might not really produce the number of customers you think your business can get. It is just like an illusion.

Reasons why starting a business outside Lagos is more profitable

Despite the large population, Lagos state has a population with a not so impressive buying power (when it comes to the average Lagosian). So, as a small business, when you offer your services or products to the public, be rest assured there are over 100 other SMEs offering the exact same service to your target market a few kilometers from you.

Pricing is one key factor that greatly influences Nigerian SME. Most times, you are forced to keep reducing your price just to become the preferred choice for consumers. This is often because of excess competition. If you are outside Lagos, your chances of fighting a strong pricing war with competitors are pretty slim.

The cost of getting a business location is pretty high in Lagos. Getting a shop or an office in Lagos can actually be nerve-wracking. Because of the population influx, the real estate industry has been booming but at the cost of the rising population. Renting a decent shop or office might actually consume more than 50% of your business startup capital leaving you in a very uncomfortable position.

All said and done, Lagos is the commercial hub of Nigeria. Who wouldn’t want to launch a business in front of 20 million+ potential customers? Starting a new SME in Lagos has more than enough prospects for expansion and fast growth but it also comes with a very high-risk ratio that can end your business before it even begins.

Personally, I’ll prefer starting a business outside Lagos where I don’t have to spend a killing in the setup process and initial customer acquisition. Then when I have stabilized a bit and started to generate recurring revenue, I can move to Lagos with full backing to face the competition and succeed.

Lagos is still the place to be in Nigeria as far as running a business is concerned

So I was seeking advises from people to start up a commercial transport company and i met a retired Lastma Official who told me some monstrous acts drivers commit. He said a driver once came to them on the road and begged them to tell his boss they have arrested him. He asked why, he said that is the only way he could get money from him, so they(lastma) asked how they will pull it off, the driver said he will tell his boss the bus "cut gas" the lastma officials said what if the boss brings a mechanic, he said he will drain the fuel in the bus tank and he did so immediately. So when the boss came, he came with a mechanic and saw the bus "cut gas" truly and paid N50k to the them (Lastma) and the driver wanted half but they gave him N15k because they were much.

He said another case of a driver who drove his boss through a One Way traffic and was caught. The woman (his boss) began pleading with the Lastma officials but the driver gave them sign and told them not to listen that she has money and she will pay, so they (Lastma) disagreed with the woman and she later agreed to pay N30k, she sent the driver to the ATM to withdraw it and come back to the spot to give them the N30k which he did and was given N5k out of it.

Another man said his drivers do remove the bus parts and sell and tell him it needs to be replaced and he was frustrated to get rid of all the buses.

Kindly share your experience with these destructive drivers

The debt per say doesn't worth committing suicide. Though, the amount must have been so huge compared to his assets, as a matter of fact, there are many people are in the same shoe with him or even much more than his.

Nevertheless, he should also remember that if the money is borrowed from micro finance or any other bank, they(bank) already has insurance cover in case of deatg, so, if he commits suicide, they'll recover their money. The question now is, who looses? I believe he can affirmatively answer the question.

In this difficult time, he should put himself together and ask God for divine revelation and direction on how or what he would do to sort out the mess. He shouldn't also engulf himself with what people we say and shame should be emotionally dealt with.
