It's not a mental condition. You can see from the causes that it has nothing to do with the mental faculty. I'm saying it's one of the many odd cases of nature and they shouldn't be persecuted.
We have seen conjoined twins and many other odd cases were the general laws of nature are not obeyed. Let us even assume it's a mental illness, people with deformities such as imbecility have been accepted in the society. Why shouldn't gay people be treated the same way? They aren't hurting anybody so why condemn them. As long as you aren't gay or fancy the act, I don't see a reason why you should be threatened by them being around you.
If we can agree that it's a natural cause then we can both agree they shouldn't be persecuted. Even if you say it's isn't a natural cause why should you be threatened by them in the society. If you are afraid your children will copy gays and try to be like them, then the same idealogy you use to condemn gay you can use it to preach to your children from not being gay since it isn't a natural cause.
The rate at which gay people are popping up is alarming. Yet for one reason or the other Nigerians have choose to ignore it and put a law to persecute them.
Americans have gone through that road. If you read the whole article in that link you will see that there was a time in American history when gay people were executed. At the end Americans saw that what's at the end of that road is oppression and injustice. Now they not only give gay people their right to be free but have also given them a platform where they can meet themselves.
Nigerians on the other hand keep condemning them and ignoring the fact that they weren't the ones who made themselves. If we were all given a chance to make ourselves everybody could have made his/her self 100% perfect but sadly that's not the case, everyone has him/her own share of defects.
At the end it's wrong and hypocritical for Nigeria to preach equality for all and condemn the homosexuals.

Rape isn't a mutual agreement between two people. The persons involved in homosexuality both agree to it, that's not the same for rape. In rape there's always a victim. In homosexuality they are the victims. Homosexuals were created that way and isn't much of a choice. I feel disgusted by the act but I can't enjoy my right to equality and try to take another person's own away from him/her because of their sexuality, which isn't even their choice. I would rather prefer to look the other way if I see persons involved in the act, pray for them or try to get them to change if they would listen and move on with my life rather than to condemn and persecute them. The bible condemns homosexuality but didn't say if you condemn and persecute homosexuals on the last day you will get a free pass to heaven. The bible even says we should love our neighbors as ourselves. If someone chooses to be a homosexual, as long as he/she isn't causing any harm to anybody I don't care afterall on the last day judgement would be done individually.
Homosexuality is bad but the way Nigerians are handling the issue is worst.

I remember some years back, a school in the north (name withheld) invited the university of cape Town for a competition. Capetown sent anyhow students just to at least fulfil all righteousness and not disappoint. They got defeated. Next thing, the northern students started bragging on social media that they are a far better school than cape Town lol.

Back to the topic, competitions like these, you don't expect premium attendance. Those Ivy league schools don't get time for such and even if they do, they just send some of their less serious students to attend. Nigerians on the other hands will send the best of the best to compete and at the end of the day start beating their chest over mediocrity.
