Neither the Mali Empire, Ghana nor the Songhai Empire ever reached as far as Southern Nigeria. Only the SOnghay Empire reached parts of Northern Nigeria but nothing near Yorubaland. Every jihad was led by a Fulani man after Uthman dan Fodio jihad. From Mali, Nigeria, Northern Cameroon, tp the Senegambia region (Fulani homeland). The only people they consider true Muslims besides themselves are the Mandinka and the Tuareg who Uthman dan Fodio studied under.
