I dont know any sensible Wazobian- Igbo yoruba or fulani-hausa that will want Zoning. Theres no doubt in my mind that a yorubaman can win or atleast come in 2nd in Nigeria. and at that the only thing Northerners are united and vote along the lines of is islam. Balewa- wasnt hausa or fulani "he was Bageri" - what made him have the advantage over Awo was a united muslim North- Fine with me. Awo lost because he was a christian. Mko abiola won against Tofa because Abiola was a muslim- Those who prefer Zoning based on region/ ethnicity are either scared- They wont win votes cause there tribe is small or are scared because religion in the North is the main factor and a christian probably not be winning them- which is ok with me. If a Northerner wins time and time again I wont biotch because he won fair and square. where Nigerias president comes from is nothing- all that matters is good governance. |
Fashola, Mimiko, Oshiomole, Elrufai, Chime, Babangida Aliyu, Goje, Saraki, Amaechi, Ohakim - be it 2015 or whenever All ethinicities/tribes and religions should contest. the winner is the winner i mean it isnt a big deal- |
kettykings:Confused clown I mean this isnt rocket science The problem igbos have is not the south or north- this day and age in Nigeria we have more quality/better govenors in all regions. Everyone region has capable people of running Nigeria better so no one is going to step down because of anyone ethnicity or tribe this isnt the old days. The north has capable people of running nigeria - so Northerners they will vote for them over any igbo ANY day. The middle and SW have capable people of running Nigeria- so the middle belt and or SW will vote for them over ANY person also. The East has capable people of running Nigeria- and the East will vote for them also- who ever the winner is the winner. Why in the WORLD- would anyone want to throw their votes away to an "outsider" whom theyve never heard of? I mean common sense, the North will not Vote for Chime OR Ohakim when they have Babangida Aliyu, Elrufai, Danjuma, Goje, Saraki,- capable Northerners. The SW will not vote for any Northerner or SE'er when they have Fashola, mimiko or oshiomole- edo to vote for should he run. The SE have good and capable people of running Nigeria- so im SURE they will vote for them. Like I said igbos looking for votes in the muslim north is not happenin when there are capable northerners (Babangida Aliyu, Elrufai, Danjuma, Goje, Saraki,), the can try the SW maybe . . . dayokanu:thats all that matters to me- as long as theres no military and all the coups - which i seriously doubt in 2010 than i see no need for Zoning. everyone has a chance in winning in Nigeria regardless of tribe. |
I cant believe this Ezeife guy is talking, does what he said make sense? The north said zoning between north/south and ezeife/igbos say its between geopolitical zones. - They are not on the same page so how can igbo emerge in 2015, If Northerners are saying its between north and south? 2) who told Ezeife 2015? I mean that is very dangerous and unwise lol that doesnt make sense. 3) who told Ezeife that Jonathan wont contest in 2015- If we are going by fake Zoning the SS is allowed 8 years, so what would make any sensible person think SS would cut their term short? 4) Should Jonathan win in 2011- what makes ezeife think northerners will continue zoning? |
na_so:ehn you say "very very" it should be "very very very bloody unlikely" its nothing against igbo its just northerners will reorganize themselves and have a whole North ( NC,NW and NE) right now Jonathan has the NC's support. I dont see PDP ticket going to any southerner except Jonathan the incumbent in 2015. Northerners will not vote for Zoning by 6 Zones- I dont even know why people are using their imaginations and dreaming. Who will believe 70+ million northerners will sit and wait - for 16 yrs till another northerner emerges? That doesnt even make sense. |
Onlytruth:Stick to Zoning and vote for IBB or any northerner OR Jonathan doesnt really matter- its about a southern thing not yoruba igbo or ijaw. In case you didnt know northerners are lying about Zoning and the SW and Jonathan probably know that also, Im telling you to tell all the igbo leaders to never wait for a northerner to "hand over" to anyone, cause it will never happen! Mko died which made Obj president, and Yaradua died making Jonathan president. Im telling you now- a Fashola or Elrufai, Ribadu type character emerge as presidential contestant in 2015/2019 and Jonathan winning in 2011- The Zoning is DEAD in the SW, Middle belt, Core north and Niger delta. Im tired of saying the same thing- I guarantee the candidates in 2015 will be Jonathan, Elrufai, Goje, Saraki, Fashola !!!!, Elrufai, possibly Ribadu, Donald Duke again, and who ever from the SE be it Chime, Ohakim etc. But in 2015- there will be no one stepping down for anyone- I GUARANTEE IT- only wits and real votes will count there are too many good candidates that will contest in 2015. Akanbi_edu:didnt I just say OBJ was the incumbent or are you fkin blind- Obj would have lost against Buhari if he already wasnt president in 1999. na_so:Say Jonathan does well as president- which he probably will. He goes to contest in 2015 will you vote for him again, even though 2015 is supposed to go to the SE? |
Lanrefemi: - what is this?does it make sense to you we are not talking about igbo or yoruba civil war or anything we talking about getting votes up north and Zoning. Im tired of talking about the same past move on. and I dont even think you are yoruba and if you are get the hell outta here with rubbish talk. |
no need for tribalism comments thats lame. |
Even if a notherner comes to me and says all northerners will vote for you in 2015, If I vote for him in 2011- I would think to myself this guy is talking shiot. "Me a christian yoruba from the south getting votes up north against A WELL KNOWN FULANI-HAUSA like Goje Ribadu, Elrufai? Its a lie can never happen" its not possible in a country that votes along religous lines esp in the north where religion is more important than ethnicity. |
excanny:Go and ask those who were in it, I dont know anything about money being shared between Elite in the SW. Since when did Elite in Ibadan speak for Yoruba people in Kwara, Kogi and Niger? lol You think 10-20 in the SW/Middle belt elite can speak for 30-40 million yoruba people? If you believe that you be real mugu if you think Obj himself can convince all yoruba people to vote for a particular candidate not from the SW or yoruba esp when he couldnt even get them to vote for himself. Even I myself can vote for an igbo- But I cant say 30-40 million yoruba who are christian and muslims IN the North and south will. Even if Zoning is respected in PDP party you think 70 million muslim northerners will listen to a few Northern elite to vote for a christian southerner who they've never heard of? Lol if you believe that you are an . go and look at 2003 elections Obj loss half of the north to buhari the Other half was rigged by Northern govs who were seeking 2nd term in their states. The North didnt agree for the SW to rule for 8 yrs- because buhari contested and won overwhemingly in the north. common sense. |
excanny:LOL Mko abiola won in 1993 fair and square- everyone voted for him except the large amount of igbos- which is ok. Awo contestested and lost- which was OK did you hear yoruba crying for Oduduwa republic or wanting to secede after Awo lost in 1960 and 1979? NO Afterall we didnt die over Awo losing to Balewa and Zik as second. so whats the deal with igbos like you? If you want to contest GO HEAD AND STOP DISTURBING YORUBA PEOPLE |
No section in Nigeria own the presidency its for everyone. And no region tribe or section is "Owed" anything. Did yoruba people ever say only yoruba can contest in 1999? NO Did yoruba people ever tell ijaw or igbo they will not vote for them? NO Did yoruba people ever say they will become VP to a northerner, If igbo or Ijaw contest? NO |
excanny:you keep telling yourself nonsense . . believe it if you want. If he wins he wins and if he loses he loses. Shet If a yoruba loses a fair election than - shiot ok. Awo Lost in 1960 and 1979- It was fine. Its because you folks like you who are too much into ethnic politics- Are you telling me an igboman cannot win election in Nigeria without anyone stepping down for him? Im sure he can if he plays his cards right. No one put a gun to anyones head- So whats the fuss about Igbo are no different then yoruba and no different than hausa-fulani. Let the Best man come from where ever- regardless of tribe. |
o yes second term and when hes ready to go to Aso rock we will be there waiting for him to declare, |
Im not saying compass is right or wrong im saying - there can always be a suprise. |
PDP governors set to battle Jonathan “I can assure you that Jonathan is in for a surprise. For instance, the South-East governors who have earlier given him a tacit support, when they declared that they are not interested in the president and vice-president seat, seem to be singing another tune now.” The source, who maintained that everything will now be in quick succession said that unfortunately for Jonathan and his handlers, they have so many unresolved issues that would engage them while the governors continue with their planned action “We want to assure the generality of Ndigbo that the South-East Forum is firmly committed to the communique it issued with the Northern political leaders Forum on Tuesday, August 10, that the two groups believe in zoning and rotation of power principle as the best safeguard for our democracy, peace, unity and national stability, that the two groups will work staunchly for the realisation of a Northern President in 2011, and that both groups will also work assiduously for the realisation of an Igbo President in 2015. South-East politicians and their Northern counterparts had signed an agreement to work towards the emergence of a President of Northern extraction in 2011 and subsequently, the realisation of an Igbo President in 2015. In a related development, the Summit of Eastern Human Rights and Pro-Democracy Activists rose from their second meeting, in Enugu at the weekend, dissociating itself from the endorsement of any presidential aspirant for the 2011 general election. In a communique issued after the meeting held at the Ofuobi African Centre, Enugu, the group said that “the South-East would, in due time, take a position on political parties or aspirants to support based on the aspirant’s endorsement of the Igbo charter of demand.’’ Also, members of a coalition of South-East human rights and pro-democracy activists have met again in Enugu, describing leaders who had taken positions to support Jonathan as “self-seekers”. |
Aloy+Emeka:confused Aloyemka do you have a job? Are you collecting disability while at home? |
Oau is up there. |
Aloy+Emeka:ridiculous you are a real goat - I know that kase lawal isnt that rich DUH- what im saying is hes more internationally known and more respected than this random emeka guy whos being "deported"- so why even put his name next to Kase Lawal's? Thats like placing donald trumpes name next to Mike Adenugas, Dangote, Femi Otedola and even this Emeka guy- doesnt make any sense? One is Internationally known and employed by Clinton, Obama, Bush (Kase lawal) The Other one is being Deported from the Uk (Emeka)- how can you even compare? |
2011: Jonathan, Babangida, Saraki divide PDP governors 10 for President •Nine for IBB •Nine for Kwara Gov • All-night meeting inconclusive AFTER a meeting which lasted for five hours, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors could not agree on who to support for the 2011 presidential elections yesterday morning. The meeting, which started about 9 p.m. on Tuesday “ended a few minutes after 2 a.m.” yesterday “and it was inconclusive,” said a source. Over 20 governors attended the meeting held at the Kwara State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja. At the centre of the disagreement was the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan, former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State. Saraki is the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum and is a leading choice among the governors from the 19 Northern states angling to have a shot at the presidency next year. “The meeting was so hot that they had to take a break about 11.30 p.m. for 30 minutes when refreshment was served. Some did not even take anything but busy answering phone calls and calling some of their colleagues who were not at the meeting to brief them on the latest development,” said the source. It was gathered that 10 of the governors, led by a South-West governor, are supporting Jonathan’s aspiration, nine, led by a North-Central governor, are backing Babangida while the remaining nine, led by a South-South governor “who just had a raw deal with the presidency,” are putting their weight behind Saraki. The position of Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, who is officially joining the party on Saturday in Umuahia, the state capital, at a grand rally, is not known for now. The source said that Jonathan got many of the governors to his side due to the pressure he put on them before he met them on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. It was gathered that some of the President’s foot soldiers had inflitrated the governors’ rank, promising that should Jonathan continue in office next year, they will not be victimised. Hitherto, the fear among the governors, especially those on their last lap (2003 – 2011), is that anti-graft agencies will be unleashed on them after leaving office on May 29, 2011 “for political reasons”. “Honestly, the support for each of the aspirants is a complete mix-up. There are governors from the North and South backing the aspirants and now, it is a game of hide and seek. You can’t really know who really is supporting who sincerely because of the fear of the unknown. “You know, this is a power game and you must be careful. Jonathan is holding the pistol now and if you make the wrong move, you will be shot. Babangida has rallied all the Northern elements behind him and you know it is dangerous for anybody to support a Southern candidate from that part of the country for obvious reasons because of the tension and anxiety involved. “Also, among the governors believed to have an interest in the post, Saraki is leading and all the governors, those leaving office and those staging a come-back, want to be sure of their political future. That is why they are being careful. “So, the situation is still foggy. The governors are divided because two of the aspirants, Jonathan and Babangida, have promised them heaven and earth. You know no governor has indicated interest openly but among the lot, Saraki is leading. At the meeting, some of the governors said their colleagues, who are interested, should declare openly so that the governors can take a position,” he said. Meanwhile, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said that Babangida and himself “are working closely together for the unity, stability and development of the country”, adding that they are prepared to make necessary sacrifices in the service of their people. He said no sacrifice would be too much for them to make in the service of their people and the unity of Nigeria. He declared this in Yola, Adamawa State yesterday at a public lecture held in honour of Senator Jibril Aminu to mark his 71st birthday. Babangida, who was the Chairman at the occasion, also recommended the close relationship between him and Atiku to other politicians, saying that politics does not need to create enmity among them. Atiku, who paid tributes to Babangida at the event, said their relationship dates back to the 1970s. “What many Nigerians don’t know is that I’ve been friends with General Babangida more than 10 years before I met the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua,” he said. He disclosed that their relationship had been fostered by the need for Nigerian leaders to close ranks and face the challenges facing the country. “We have to work together to solve the problems facing us as a nation and making Nigeria a prosperous country for the benefit of our people. “The challenges facing the country are immense and there is an urgent need for the Nigerian political elite to work together and reposition the country for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he said. Speaking on Aminu, who Atiku referred to as his elder brother, the former Vice-President said the Senator “has made immense contributions to the development of Nigeria and deserves to continue as a Senator until he becomes the longest-serving Senator in the history of Nigeria”. Aminu, in his own remarks, said: “I admire two attributes in Atiku Abubakar. The first is his doggedness. “If Atiku wants something done, he would go to whoever has the key to that thing, regardless of how lowly placed the person is. Not all of us politicians can do this,” he said. Secondly, he described Atiku as a party organiser. He said: “Atiku is fully back in PDP blood and flesh. I welcome it”. He queried the discriminatory granting of waivers by the PDP, saying that there is no reason the ruling party should favour some aspirants to the detriment of Atiku. “Is it because he is from Adamawa State?” he queried. |
Which meeting is this I just read another article that said Northerners were opposed to Jonathan and asking saraki to run as president? But saraki either refused or didnt comment |

It was not easy for us to obtain support for the Biafra of 1967 because a lot of lies were peddled against us by the media and most of them stuck because the world did not know Nigeria then. Today is different. They are watching.
