Christianity Etc › Re: 10 Ways To Underatanding The Voice Of God by Scalord: 10:10am On Feb 26, 2017 |
dailyguide: 1. Recognize that God has created you for a close friendship with Himself. By design, the way you hear best from God is in the context of a friendship with Him. God intends for you to figure out His will freely and intelligently as you engage in regular conversations with Him. God’s will is to be personally present with you and speaking with you moment by moment as you go through life. Then you’ll grow to understand Him more and become more like His Son, Jesus.
2. Consider your motives for wanting to hear from God. Honestly reflect on why you want to hear from God. Is it because you’re truly open to whatever God has to say and committed to putting His guidance into action and fulfilling His purposes, even when doing so is challenging? Or is it for a selfish reason, such as wanting to feel righteous or comforted? Confess and repent of any wrong motives. Ask God to give you an openness to hear and respond faithfully to what He wants to tell you. 3. Make your goal more than just hearing God. While it’s important to hear from God, that shouldn’t be your ultimate goal. Instead, make your main goal to become a spiritually mature person in a close relationship with God. That’s the only way you’ll clearly and correctly hear what God has to say to you. 4. Know that you’re important to God, but be humble. Have the confidence that God is willing to speak to you just as powerfully as He did to the people in the bible, because He values you just as much. However, don’t let pride creep into your soul, because you must be humble in order to faithfully receive and respond the messages God has for you. 5. Don’t try to force God to tell you something. No matter how much you want to hear from God about something or how hard you may try to convince Him to speak to you, you’ll only hear from God when He chooses to communicate with you. Focus on developing a respectful relationship with God and wait for His timing to deliver messages to you. Also, if God chooses not to give you specific guidance about something you’ve prayed about and what you’re considering is within the Bible’s moral principles, you can confidently go ahead and make your own decision about what to do and be within God’s will.
6. Recognize that God communicates in many forms, but most often through your mind. God may choose any one of many different ways to communicate to you, according to what’s best at particular times and in particular circumstances. You may sometimes hear God’s message in dramatic ways, such as through angels, visions, or miraculous events. But more often, you’ll hear God speaking through your thoughts, and He will use ordinary practices such as reading the Bible, praying quietly, learning from circumstances, or seeking counsel from other Christians to reach out to you as you think about them. God will use dramatic means to get your attention when necessary, but His goal is for you to be so closely connected to Him that you’ll pay attention whenever He speaks to you. Usually, God speaks through what people have described as a “still, small voice” to encourage those He loves to choose to keep walking closely with Him through life. 7. Renew your mind. Since God often speaks to you through your mind and wants you to develop what the Bible calls the “mind of Christ” (the ability to make decisions as Jesus would), it’s crucial for you to follow the Bible’s urging in romans 12 vs 2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but but be tran the renewal of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.” As you invite the Holy Spirit to renew your mind every day, He will cleanse it from such dirt and clutter as false beliefs and attitudes, unhealthy feelings, and misguided plans. Then the Holy Spirit will replace all of that with true thoughts that reflect God’s purposes. 8. Invite the living Word to help you when you read the written word. The Word of God is a living, creative force – Jesus Himself – and He is actively at work when you read God’s written word – the Bible – prayerfully. When you read the Bible, ask Jesus to make the Bible’s words come alive for you and become conduits through which He sends His thoughts, faith, and love into your soul. Then focus on what He sends you and orient yourself toward it so it will begin to transform your life. 9. Recognize God’s voice above all others. By experience, you can learn to recognize God’s voice when He speaks, and to confidently respond to what He says. When thoughts recur, pray about them to discern if they may be coming from God. Keep in mind that God will never send you a message that contradicts the Bible’s principles. Also, God’s voice carries the weight of authority within it, and expresses a spirit of peace, confidence, joy, reasonableness, and goodwill. If you think that God may speaking to you, ask Him to confirm so as you study and meditate on the Bible, as you’re alert to the circumstances you encounter, or as you experience the Holy Spirit’s impressions in your mind. 10. Set aside time regularly to listen for God’s messages. Make a habit of intentionally and expectantly listening for whatever God may want to tell you. It’s more important to become a person who listens regularly to God than it is to constantly ask God to give you guidance. Set aside sometime today to begin listening for God's voice and hearing his promises and plans for you. Keep a journal to remember the things he brings to life in you. Imagine the danger in hearing from sky daddies.. almost all deluded mass killers claimed to hear from God before engaging in their mass killings.... Its a delusion.. the god delusion.. only crazy people hear voices in their heads!!! |

Christianity Etc › Re: Answers To Common Objections To The Existence Of God And Of Christianity by Scalord: 10:31am On Feb 19, 2017 |
OLAADEGBU: In this thread I will be posting objections to seeming contradictions in the Bible and how they have been adequately rebutted by apologetics.
Objection 1:
The Bible has many seeming contradictions within its pages. For example, the four Gospels give four differing accounts as to what was written on the sign that hung on the cross.
"And above His head they put up the charge against Him which read, ‘'THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS'." —Matthew 27:37
"The inscription of the charge against Him read, 'THE KING OF THE JEWS'." —Mark 15:26
"Now there was also an inscription above Him, 'THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS'." —Luke 23:38
"Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It was written, 'JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS'." —John 19:19
Rebuttal to objection #1.
Those who are looking for contradictions may therefore say, "See—the Bible is full of mistakes!" and choose to reject it entirely as being untrustworthy.
However, those who trust God have no problem harmonising the Gospels. There is no contradiction if the sign simply said, "This is Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews." The godly base their confidence on two truths:
1) "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God" (2 Timothy 3:16); and
2) an elementary rule of Scripture is that God has deliberately included seeming contradictions in His Word to "snare" the proud. He has "hidden" things from the "wise and prudent" and "revealed them to babes" (Luke 10:21), purposely choosing foolish things to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27).
If an ungodly man refuses to humble himself and obey the gospel, and instead desires to build a case against the Bible, God gives him enough material to build his own gallows. This incredible principle is clearly illustrated in the account of the capture of Zedekiah, king of Judah. Jeremiah the prophet told Zedekiah that God would judge him. He was informed that he would be "delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon"(Jeremiah 32:4). This is confirmed in Jeremiah 39:5-7 where we are told that he was captured and brought to King Nebuchadnezzar, then they "bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon."
However, in Ezekiel 12:13, God Himself warned, "I will bring him to Babylon …yet he shall not see it, though he shall die there" (emphasis added). Here is material to build a case against the Bible! It is an obvious mistake. Three Bible verses say that the king would go to Babylon, and yet the Bible in another place says that he would not see Babylon. How can someone be taken somewhere and not see it? It makes no sense at all—unless Zedekiah was blinded. And that is precisely what happened. Zedekiah saw Nebuchadnezzar face to face, saw his sons killed before his eyes, then "the king of Babylon… put out Zedekiah's eyes" before taking him to Babylon (Jeremiah 39:6,7). This is the underlying principle behind the many "contradictions" of Holy Scripture (such as how many horses David had, who was the first to arrive at the tomb after the resurrection of Jesus, etc.).
God has turned the tables on proud, arrogant, self-righteous man. When he proudly stands outside of the kingdom of God, and seeks to justify his sinfulness through evidence he thinks discredits the Bible, he doesn't realise that God has simply lowered the door of life, so that only those who are prepared to exercise faith, and bow in humility may enter. It is interesting to note that the seeming contradictions in the four Gospels attest to the fact that there was no corroboration between the writers.
www.livingwaters.com Why dont you try rebutting this 10 biblical contradictions.. many more from where these come from.. Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel? God did (2 Samuel 24: 1) Satan did (I Chronicles 2 1:1) 2. In that count how many fighting men were found in Israel? Eight hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9) One million, one hundred thousand (I Chronicles 21:5) 3. How many fighting men were found in Judah? Five hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9) Four hundred and seventy thousand (I Chronicles 21:5) 4. God sent his prophet to threaten David with how many years of famine? Seven (2 Samuel 24:13) Three (I Chronicles 21:12) 5. How old was Ahaziah when he began to rule over Jerusalem? Twenty-two (2 Kings 8:26) Forty-two (2 Chronicles 22:2) 6. How old was Jehoiachin when he became king of Jerusalem? Eighteen (2 Kings 24: Eight (2 Chronicles 36:9) 7. How long did he rule over Jerusalem? Three months (2 Kings 24: Three months and ten days (2 Chronicles 36:9) 8. The chief of the mighty men of David lifted up his spear and killed how many men at one time? Eight hundred (2 Samuel 23: Three hundred (I Chronicles 11: 11) 9. When did David bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem? Before defeating the Philistines or after? After (2 Samuel 5 and 6) Before (I Chronicles 13 and 14) 10. How many pairs of clean animals did God tell Noah to take into the Ark? Two (Genesis 6:19, 20) Seven (Genesis 7:2). But despite this last instruction only two pairs went into the ark (Genesis 7:8-9) |

FromZeroToHero: It’s simple: We don’t chase after things we have no desire to obtain. Therefore, our pursuit of anything is ample proof of valid desire. But desire alone doesn’t bring success. We must have a clearly defined strategy.
Defining a successful strategy is one of the most challenging exercises a man faces. Even Jesus warned of this process in Luke 14:28-30 (NIV): “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.”
God leads us in steps, not by leaps. Most men want to jump into their success, yet a “leap of faith” is not a biblical concept. If we’re going to fulfill our purpose, we must take steps to do it.
Here are five important steps you can take now to fulfill your purpose.
Step 1. You must decide for yourself what is worthy of your pursuit. No one else should decide for you. You may receive counsel from others, but you should make the decision; otherwise you will be unfulfilled in your pursuit. There are countless stories of men who achieved great success yet remained unfulfilled because they were living another person’s dream.
Step 2. Go to your Source to understand your potential. God spoke to the land and said, “Produce!” He spoke to the seas and said, “Teem with creatures!” He spoke to Himself and said, “Let Us create man!” Only God has a complete understanding of why you were created and what your potential is. You may have a hint or a glimpse of this understanding, but you will never know complete fulfillment until you fully know the Source of your potential.
Step 3. Write down on paper or develop a vision board of every dream, goal or desire that is important to you. Write down anything you want to become, do or possess. This is extremely important.
Step 4. Narrow your focus to the top three pursuits. After you’ve written down what you want to become, do or possess, develop actions steps you can take now to create momentum toward those things. The big vision will come from a series of small decisions.
Step 5. Be aware that God will network you with others to help you get where you are going. People are God’s hands on this earth. You may find two different types of people will come into your life—one a person you have the ability to help, the other a person who has the ability to help you. Recognizing and discerning these people is vital.
Finally, You will never achieve your purpose in life unless you become strategically motivated to pursue it. Make plans right now to get alone with God, pursue Him and listen for His affirming voice to clearly define your purpose, write it down, develop action steps and get moving.

So, my friend, may I ask, if you get a divine revelation from God, telling you to go and slaughter your mum, this very minute, will you go ahead to carry out the act, in accordance with the divine commandment? If you are a christian then i should redirect that question to you. I am a rational being that has switched back to default mode: Atheism. So i would way it on the strength of evidence and conclude that you are no less crazy than your Papa Abraham that planned to kill his only son. But am sure if a RCCG indoctrinated dude hears that from papa Adeboye.. he would pray about it and probably start hearing voices from his head urging him on..... citing bible passages from Abraham, David etc stories.....that is revelation isnt it? |

Otherwise how can you rationalize the bringing down the wall of jericho and massacre of all Men, Women and children there... or Saul's destruction of the Amalakites..we would have called those genocide in modern times but these are reveleations from the Almighty.. And dont argue the OT, NT thing..remember that all scriptures were inspired by the same God! You simply cannot dismiss anyone that says he has a revealation to do anything including killing because in absence of a rational society, every madness should fly.. and accepted by Faith afterall no one can realy justify all the stuffs written in their various holy books except by Faith.. I can thereforw choose to accept Shekau's position on wipe out of western civilization from Nigeria as part of God's new revelation similar to his plan for the bronze aged Israelites, and if you think its madness then try you accepting the genocidal attacks of the biblical attacks the various earth destroying atrocities of Yahweh... In the end.. religion is by revealation so anything can go! |

The New testament makes it clear that gone are the days of an eye for an eye. It is the age of turning the left cheek when the right cheek is slapped. It is an age of fighting with spiritual weapons. It is an age of evangelism and not warfare.
There seems to be Absolutely NO REASON why a christian should be a soldier. Jesus would certainly from at any of his sheep throwing bombs at souls he created.
What are your thoughts on this?
Can a soldier indeed go to heaven if killed in warfare? Can a christian be a soldier?
IS THERE ANY TIME A CHRISTIAN IS PERMITTED TO KILL? CAN A CHRISTIAN KILL IN SELF DEFENSE?

remiopash: When a person trusts Jesus Christ for salvation, he or she is made a member of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). For a church body to function properly, all of its “body parts” need to be present (1 Corinthians 12:14-20). Likewise, a believer will never reach full spiritual maturity without the assistance and encouragement of other believers (1 Corinthians 12:21-26). For these reasons, church attendance/participation and/or fellowship should be regular aspects of a believer’s life. Weekly church attendance is in no sense “required” for believers, but someone who belongs to Christ should have a desire to worship God, receive His Word, and fellowship with other believers. So pls answer honestly. Since you are a christian you must therefore belief that every unbeliever and believer in different religions would end up in hell right? Except true believers that do not forsake the gathering of the believers and keep God's commandments... Is this correct.. |

pesinfada: Don't worry na
shebi u won see d power of God and Silas
I bet u,u will see it 4sure
#Nigeria will soon invoke d anger of God of Paul and Silas.
I pity u LOL. You dont need to pity me.. you only need to establish the trueism in what you worship. Start translating the many fabulous mythical tales in your bible into every day reality.. Dont fight for your God or your religion.. let him fight for you in the most miraculous manner he is so capable in the bible.. Apostle Suleman who God reveals so much to can put other religions to shame if he invokes God's supernatural powers on DSS come Monday.. then you wouldnt imagine how many of us would be true believers... otherwise... i Pity you! |

snowden9: To all atheists and probably those who have a thing against AJS, i tell you for a fact that these happenings are not just a Muslim vs Christian stuff. Its a Muslim vs others battle. When hell breaks loose and you are confronted with the question of 'are you a Christian or a Muslim?',trust me, your own torture will exceed your own expectations. Stand for one now and stand for what you think is right. My 2 cents. Funny post.. but you as a Christian shouldnt be bothered afterall your lord would deliver you in the face of persecution just as he delivered the jews from the hands of Pharaoh.. i wonder why you cant just call for him now to part river Niger so you can escape from the hand of Buhari and his DSS... shouldnt you start thinking mayb Yahweh is only interested in his Iron age Jewish people only.. Abi is Africa part of the 12 tribes of Israel? |

leisuretym: the entire christian are ready, we are waiting! everybody be at alert!! I thought you guys say your help commeth from the lord when you look up to the hills.. what are your being at alert for? Do you recite your bible passages for reciting sakes only...this is the time for the christian God to prove supreme once and for all. Let all christians assemble at the DSS office and begin to pray for miraculous signs to show these unbelievers that Jesus is a true miracle worker.. Refer to the deeds of Shadrack, Mesaack and Abednego, Daniel, Paul and Silas, Moses etc.... abi all those things na fake.. has the times for miracles expired.. or are miracles now performed only on the altar of con men turned Pastors. Christians shouldnt protest, fight or kill.. yours is the true religion remember... this is the time to prove it! |

higherpower: It's uncalled for to go with 30 lawyers! Jeremiah appeared and spoke to King Zedekiah alone. Samuel met King Saul alone. Nathan confronted David alone. Elijah dealt with Ahab alone. Moses only went to Pharoah with Aaron as spokesman because he was a stammerer. Jesus spoke with Pilate alone.
When you do this Sir, it negates God's ability and Power to deliver. ''Thus saith the Lord; cursed be a man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departheth from the LORD'' - Jer 17:5.
''But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my prosecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall greatly be ashamed; for they shall not prosper; their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. -- Jer 20:11
''But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid. For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shall not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me saith the LORD - Jer 39:17-18.
With all these, You don't need any Lawyer for now! I guess he doesnt want to fool himself.. all those refreshing bible passages of the bible would not save anybody in the hands of DSS. Otherwise the thousands of innocent little children that died in Allepo should have been saved from the evil syrian Govt based on your Jer 20:11.. |

akintom: Thanks for mentioning Elijah. Suleiman is bald headed like Elijah too. Suleiman can call out lions to chew the DSS guys for breakfast (just like it was done to Elijah's teasers). It is one thing to be brainwashed because of you dont have access to knowledge and it is another thing to have access to knowledge but still choose to be brainwashed.... |

akintom: Why 30 lawyers?
All that Suleiman need to do is match to the DSS gate on Monday. At the gate, Suleiman should activate the bible verses that says 1000 shall fall on his right hand and 10000 on his left hand.
In my estimation, there can't be 1000 DSS in that Abuja office. So, it's a walkover for Suleiman.
Suleiman should go with one of his video man, and cover the "supernatural encounter" of the DSS folks falling down like the wall of Jericho.
Yahweh can't be messed with! My brother you are too correct. He should learn from Elijah and how he took on the prophet of Baal.. and true true he shld record this for all too see for once that the tribal God- Yahweh is the one true God. |
