Paxziano: It doesn't seem tough sha. Pls share the link for where u did it or rather, tell me how u did it Pls. Make I do am sharply This is the main link https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/r4pro-xiaomi-devices-in-general-guide-to-unlock-flash-get-rid-of-fake-roms.36883/You can ignore the part where it says you should download the EU Rom if you dont want it. If ure having difficulty getting to download mode (EDL) through ADB, this is how i got there. 1. Turn off your phone 2. Connect usb to PC alone 3. Press and hold both volume keys 4. Connect usb to phone 5. "Qualcomm HS- USB QDLoader" driver should install on your PC (You can confirm this by checking Ports in device manager) 6. Dont worry if nnothing shows on the screen, as long as the driver installs, youre good to go 7. Continue with flash. Good luck |

Paxziano: But I thot global stable was an official rom.
Also, what does the vendor gain by removing the official rom and installing his/her own rom? From what you posted above, you have a Vendor Rom. I wish we could ask the vendors that question |

bily: So because people are having issues flashing roms, it means the phone is not OK? I don't get your point o. Not everybody cares about flashing or updating phones, they just want a phone that works. I do not think the above is enough reason to discourage people from buying the phone Sir. Even when redmi note 3 came out, people initially where having issues unlocking and flashing before better guides using edl modes came out. There are good reviews by ordinary users out there, even opinions page on Gsmarena by ordinary users is not bad. Personally I don't think a community full of geeks/flashers/rom tweakers is the best place to get a user opinion about a phone for a newbie. It's like telling an average Nigerian guy or lady to go to xda-developers to get opinion before buying a phone. Tell me the best phone in this planet that you will not find a flashing, tweaking or rom issues on any of those geek sites, yet the average user keeps on enjoying their phones bily: I can also fish out for you lots of unappealing comments for the note 4 depending on the site or who is making the comment., especially considering we have a lot of people out there with a negative bias for MTK processors, lol. This does not mean the phone is not good. Every single phone will have negative comments, as long as its not a general problem like the Samsung note 5 or hardware issue, you're good to go. GrandMufti: That you don't care about updates does not mean you'll not inform others about the problems they'll encounter when they try to flash theirs. There were cases of bricked device when trying to flash official rom, so what is wrong in telling people what to expect? Someone here @scarr also wanted to get updates but was unable to flash his phone. A lot of people use their phones for mobile banking and other related transactions and using a phone with a vendor rom increases security risk. I totally agree that saying the Redmi 4 is "not a finished product" is totally wrong and false. RN3 also faced the same thing when it came out but now its people's favorite POC, I haven't actually tried flashing any ROM on it yet, was just gathering info from countless threads on en.miui and xiaomi.eu. Im just about to try flashing this morning d official 8.1.2.0 china ROM after which if successful, i would flash EU ROM, if i don't revert here ASAP, that means i must have bricked my phone lol but its a risk and adventure im willing to take to unlock "Full Potential". Wish me luck @Paxziano The Redmi 4 is a good phone if at this moment you don't care about customs, updates, root and "full potential". But to be frank the vendor ROMS on the Redmi 4 are probably more stable than official ROMS as confessed on several threads on en.miui |

Baroba: I think they omit it to keep the price "low", a trend I have noticed in budget Chinese phones.. I have seen it on cheap phones that i have purchased till date; Uhans, Thl and Umi Rome 3g.. Xiaomi at least includes notification led, the three I mentioned won't even give you that.. Gptech: Thats one deliberate omission from the redmi series, hopefully they lift the ban asap. I used a THL 4000, way cheaper than any Redmi but it still had backlight and notification LED light. I think it's a rubbish move by them and shouldn't be encouraged. To use your phone at night na problem. They couldn't even use reflective backlight. |

Gptech: Even the weakest Xiaomi phone has it, its not even counted as a feature, in fact all Xiaomi I know of has a breathing notification light. Well somehow they forgot to put backlight for the navigation keys in Redmi 4 |

Dam5reey: Did you read the terms on the item purchased?
Most of the seller States that leave a note if you want sealed box.. or they will do checks and install their own ROM
See screenshot below...in case of next time ask the seller questions before you buy anything... temitimx19: Whenever you buy tell CC no to open the box.. They would send it just as it is from Factory.. BuzzRay: You could have checked the rom installed on the phone before purchasing. how do you do all this when purchasing from initialise and crew |

Dam5reey: Calm down... There is no official store selling their phones in Nigeria.. what they have are partners.. only phone that has official global ROM are available for sale in Nigeria....
Check mi africa website and you will understand this.. they only have few phones there...
Their first aim is to make phone for china...
You're purchasing the Chinese version at your own discretion.. they are not forcing you... You seem offpoint I never said there was an official store in Nigeria. I want my phone from factory the way it is (global or Chinese) not allowing one reseller install a ROM i never asked for.Who know the hidden apps in d "Fake ROM" stealing my info |

Why advertise and sell a phone without official rom? Who even does that? Let's see how far they can get with these negative business models they keep adopting . They are just going from quality to quantity. they would learn when they start losing customers especially with the number of Chinese manufacturers coming up |

Gptech: Don't be in a hurry, don't think there is an official rom for your phone now, just be patient. And about root access, don't think you have much to gain since you already have miui. Why would xiaomi release a phone without an official ROM, does it mean it left the factory ROMless?. Without root how do i use apps like lucky patcher, xposed, etc my love for xiaomi just went from 100 to 20 real quick |

According to whats on d net, apparently i have a "Fake ROM" installed on my phone that's why i can't find the settings. And i have some reasons to believe that. The phone app doesn't have the caller ID option. The calculator doesn't have the converter The lock screen doesn't support the wallpaper carousel Note app looks a sammy notepad. The global ROM version isn't supposed to have "CN" in it yet mine has it.
How can i change my ROM to an official one and get root access.
An android phone without root is like jeans without pockets- Mugabe 1675
