urahara: Joshua base don't mind him. He seems to have confused evidence with seeing and believing. We know that electromagnetic waves exist even if we can't see them because we have evidence. We know that evolution is a fact because we have massive evidence. We know that matter consists of atoms even though we can't see the atoms because we have evidence and we know that the earth and the stars are billions of years old and not 6000 years as some idiotic book called the bible says it is because we have a lot of massive evidence. The bible is supposed to be 100% foolproof. A rational mind should know that once there are holes in a story one should take things with a degree of skepticism. |

plaetton: Lol. Contradictions galore.
I have read from two Christians today alone. One posted that God is unknowable, the other said admitted there is no evidence for god ( even though he believes in god's existence.)
If you are able to REASON ( without any mathematical underpinnings) that god exists, Now be honest to yourself , and tell us if that is not the same as saying ( what Nairaland Toothfairians have always insinuated) that god is a MENTAL Creation, forged in the human mind ? Of course, god is a mental creation. That's is the reason why there are many denominations even within christiandom. Olumba Olumba (brotherhood of the cross and star) have their own notion of god, redeemers have their own, even Davidians (waco, texas) had theirs. Definitely god cannot be talking different ish to different folks. I sometimes hear voices talking to me, but I KNOW is all in my mind and I don't ascribe any god to it. |

Pascal's wager how cowardly and wreaks of dishonesty and greed... You have shown your only reason of believing in a God is because you are afraid of what it might do to you if there turn out to be one after all.
Not because you find it worthy to be believed Not because it is a proven value not because it is supposed to be..
But because you need eternal bliss.. First you have shown us this alleged creator you peddle is BELIEF monger ready to burn people for mere belief and unbelief.. well thats quite a childish, egoistic and chronic narcissism on the part of the alleged creator of the whole universe..
Begging feeble humans for belief or he won't give them eternal bliss.. None of you even imagine how absurd that sounds..
Lastly you believe One God remember there are up to 5,000 in the picture, pick the wrong one you are smoked
Candid advice to you sir...
Be honest with yourself on why you really believe in deities... ..
-Because you find it plausible to -Or you find it an unsure bet for an unsure means to an unsure end (In case it exists so it wouldn't smoke your ass)
Tell yourself the truth..
Done with this thread..Be good How old are you, young man? I swear your parents must be proud of you. I wish to steal your mind, like seriously. |

plaetton: Your problem, dear young man, is your tendency to half-think. Seriously.
The fact that I mentioned " parts of the human psyche" in my post should have made it obvious, I'm case you didn't know, that a human mind , the human psyche consists of two dynamic and opposite hemispheres.
One is older, from an evolutionary point of view, more primitive, irrational, fearful. This part likes to preserve the status quo. This is also the seat of religion.
The other, more recently evolved ophthalmic region is the seat of reason, that constantly challenges and tries to overide the primitive impulses.
So, your level of humaness is directly corrolated with whichever region of your brain dominates.
Because religion comes from the limbic , more primitive part of the brain, religious people tend to be more irrational, fearful, selfish ,greedy and more fraudulent.
Simple science. Word! Am not much of a wordsmith but I absolutely get what you are saying. |

The accident involved an 18-seater commercial bus that collided with a motorcycle carrying the deceased persons which comprised of a man, his wife and two brothers. They all died on the spot, while a few passengers in the bus, including the driver, sustained serious injuries. I have interviewed her and her daughter over the years while covering tennis for the paper I work for. You would never see another dedicated parent supporting her child to be a future star. They are always in one tournament or the other using their personal funds without much support from the govt. Nigeria has not only lost a tennis player, Nigeria has also lost a budding tennis star. Angel McLeod is an unbelievable talent and you need to see the little girl play, she is the top ranked junior player at her level and the future looked bright for her. I don't see Angel returning to Nigeria after this. Very sad indeed. Who will run around for the poor girl now? The Police force needs serious rebranding and mass retrenchment. I wonder who hires such stewpid people as PRO's and spokespersons. If that t.wat had an iota of common sense he would know that his statement was soooo wrong and the public will not buy such rubbish. He should be sacked ASAP! Such rubbish!! |

I served in Baruten, very lovely place but very very backwards. There was no electricity through out the year I spent. And the road from Igboho to Ilesha-Baruba? Don't even ask me about it. |

kazmanbanjoko: ABUJA- SENATE President Bukola Saraki who appeared before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT following a 13-count charge against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, over alleged falsification of assets he admitted, said Tuesday that if he was not the Senate President, he would not be going through the present trial. In a statement tilted, “As I Appear Before The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT)” he personally signed Tuesday night, Senate President Bukola Saraki who noted that his appearance before the CCT was a demonstration of his believe in rule of law and respect for the judiciary, said, “Today, I appeared before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for the commencement of my trial in a case concerning the asset declaration form I filled in 2003 after I have explored the opportunity to defend my fundamental human rights in other courts. “My appearance in court today once again demonstrates my belief in the rule of law and respect for the judiciary of our country. “As I stated while taking the plea in the case, I reiterate my belief that the only reason while I am going through this trial is because I am Senate President. If I were to be just a Senator, I doubt if anybody will be interested in the asset declaration form I filled over twelve years ago. “This belief stems from the fact that Section 3 (d) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act provides that If there is a breach or non-compliance with any section of the law, the person involved should be given the opportunity to either admit or deny and that in the case of a written admission, no reference to the Tribunal shall be necessary. So, If the CCB had followed the guidelines, procedure or the due process provided in its own law, we won’t be having this trial. “It is my humble opinion that this case is a vivid example that there is still flagrant disregard for due process in our polity. This trial is not only being observed by Nigerians alone, the international community is watching because Nigeria is a key member of this community. So, the executive, legislature and judiciary should do the right thing that will truly demonstrate that we have imbibed the spirit of positive change. “It is however necessary for me to thank my colleagues in the Senate for the solid support and solidarity they demonstrated for me. I also thank my counsel for the brilliance they have shown in presenting our case and the supporters who were present in the Tribunal in their hundreds. I want to assure you that I am innocent of all the charges and will clear my name in due course. “May God continue to bless our country.”

Octaves: What do you expect them to sing when auto-tune was doing the singing for them in the studio. We dont have real vocalists in Naija (except for very few). All we have are commercial hit makers with no real singing talent. Put most of them on stage and give them a standard classic song to perform and 90% will flop so hard. Most Naija ppl dont even appreciate real singing talent. They love auto tune and could care less if an artiste is performing life or playing the very studio record u already have on ur i pad I blame the companies that endorse these overpampered, talentless druggies. they give mediocre talents a lot of money to churn out and perform a whole load of rubbish. A fraction of the money if invested in sports or individuals with exceptional talents would definitely change lives. |
