Christianity EtcRe: The Year God Died by scarred9jan(m): 5:54pm On Jun 01, 2015
chinkichun:
When I encounter European and American atheists, I'm not so shocked. But when I see African atheists, I'm amazed by their folly given the everyday manifestation of demonic and evil spirits in this part of the globe.

Y'all atheist try to look smart by talking about science and logic in the analysis of God's existence. Fine, you haven't seen God, neither have I. But didn't your science and logic tell you that for every action, there's an "equal and opposite" reaction? And if any of you dare deny you haven't encountered evil spirits and their works, or at least, you can't acknowledge their existence, you know within you that you're deceiving yourself.

That said, what is the opposite of evil spirits which Christians believe their source of power is the Devil?
We Christians refer to that being as God but he's not equal to the devil, he reigns supreme over everyone and everything, just the same way satanists believe the devil reigns supreme.

If you're are an atheist, contact me and I'll introduce you to a friend who's a spiritualist. By the time he's done with you, you'll definitely believe in God. You all just need more proof to believe and I hope you get more than enough proof soon.
I am an atheist and i challenge you to show me...

If you think that is funny, consider that even if the man had died, they would still have held church service, wake keeping, countless prayers and thanksgiving after the burial.

So, it's always a win-win situation for god and those that hawk him.

If every person behaves exactly like their parents, how do you think humans could have socially evolved over last 200,000 years?

The fact that you adhere to the christian religion means that at some point in the past, either of your parents or grandparents rebelled against the norms of their parents.
Not so?

Human progress has always been predicated on new generations adopting new ideas and new ways of viewing and dealing with reality.
I had read this post without the looking at moniker and i said this sounds like Plaetton, and i was right. you really are one smart asshole (that is a compliment)

Yes, he completed private hotels for the poor people of akwa ibom to sleep in right?

Whats more important to the people of akwa ibom? Hotels they can not afford or need or the 1 and only hospital he started building 8 years ago and still can not complete ?

Only thoughtless and irresponsible governments spends taxpayers money on hotels instead of hospitals and skills centers and so on. Look at the football field he spent billions on; a year later, not a single game or event, it just sitting there dormant and wasting away. The people of akwa ibom haven't gained 1 kobo on that football field. It's a complete waste.
when he would have simply renovated the existing stadiums in the state.. FAshola renovated the stadiums around Lagos instead of building a new one from scratch that would later become a white elephant. by the way Teslim Balogun stadium has a moat with fishes in it.. like a stadium/ aquarium...

This is where many of you get it all wrong. All the talk about Lagos used to be this and that are nothing but deceptive and disingenuous and I'll explain to you the reason why.

1. Fashola and Akpabio entered office the same year/The same time

2. Everything posted about Fashola in this thread was done by Fashola within his 8 years and nothing before him or belonging to the FG.

3. Fashola inherited meager resources in form of allocations and IGR while Akpabio with just 5 million people entered office with abundant oil money.

4. Lagos state's IGR that many of you make ignorance noise about amounts to little in the grand scheme of this.

20 billion/month IGR = 20 x 12 = N240 billion.

FG allocation is N10 billion monthly

N10 billion x 12 = N120

= N240 billion + 120 = N360 billion

So, the IGR you people make so much noise about is nothing when it comes to the actual money Lagos state operates with in for of budget.

N360 billion for 20 million people is chump change and Lagos state still have to borrow money to get up to it's N400+ billion yearly budgets.

Do your research or educate yourself about these states before making ill informed comments.

Akpabio on the other hand with just 5 million people budgets over N500 billion yearly IGR or no IGR.

Bottomline, Akpabio has more money than Lagos state and Akwa Ibom is many times richer than Lagos state.

Now about the projects you listed for Akpabio.

This thread is about completed and commissioned projects and to my knowledge apart from the roads and flyover, Akpabio completed only only 3 projects in his 8 years in office and they are the 1 library, 1 football field and 1 cinema. Feel free to prove me wrong.

I gave you folks the opportunity to post his completed projects, but you did not, obviously because there's non beyond the ones I posted.

Akpabio as the governor of the richest state in Nigeria can not fill more than half a page on NL with his completed and commissioned projects.

..but I can fill more than NL pages with Fashola's projects. That's a fact...

Let's get our facts straight and just kill that IGR noise because it's nothing and Akpabio still has more budget money passed every year than Fashola....
Aresa you wicked oh grin

Ok let me give god some credit here, maybe the devil brought this upon us to ruin god's beautiful creation.
What about tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters that lead to the death of thousands? Are we honestly saying god let all this happen because Adam ate an apple? Christians had better be joking because this is a joke of epic proportions

My dear friend.
Pls read my posts carefully.
Let me repeat, religious manipulation occurs everywhere under the very same conditions.

In Africa, those conditions that make it easy for religious manipulation are pervasive and Show no signs of abating.
In Nigeria, superstition and magical thinking are too pervasive. Evangelical filth just adds fuel to that fire.
Whereas, in the USA and other countries, public enlightenment, education, good governance , good health, stable economy and stable political culture can mitigate religious superstition over time, in Africa, that is not the case.
In Nigeria, evangelical pastors target universities and university students to hawk their magical thinking and superstitions.

I had a nice who dropped and refused to take a course in psychology simply because it was giving her bad ideas about her religious beliefs.
hope say you slapped the "devil" out of her.. SMH

Jonathan is a liar, has always been... Marike De klerk did not divorce F. W because of that. Infact it was F.W that asked for a divorce because he was having an affair and he remarried within a week of his divorce. And this happened FOUR years after Mandela became president.

This is why Jonathan lost out. People feeding him lies and him believing it without making proper checks.
PoliticsRe: My Ministers And I Will Be Persecuted, Says Jonathan by scarred9jan(m): 6:19pm On May 10, 2015
MichaelSokoto:
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday gave an
insight into the fate that awaits him under the
incoming government of the President-elect, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), saying he and ministers
as well as other aides who served under him would
be persecuted.
He said he and his ministers would have hard times
because of some critical decisions they took while in
office.
Jonathan also looked back at all the benefits that had
come his way as a Nigerian, saying he was ready to
pay the supreme price for the nation.
The President spoke at a thanksgiving and farewell
service organised in his honour at the Cathedral
Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Jonathan who was accompanied by his wife, Patience,
said considering what God had done in his life, he
wished he could dance like the biblical King David but
he kept missing his steps whenever he made
attempts.
He said only a few Nigerians within his age bracket
were as lucky as he is because he had not suffered
any lack, not because he is hardworking but by the
grace of God.
He said after reflecting on the benefits which
included the scholarships he enjoyed in school and
the various political offices he had occupied, he
should be able to do anything in the interest of the
country, including paying the supreme price.
He added that he is leaving office of the President as
a fulfilled and very happy man.
Jonathan said, “I want to thank God for what he has
done for me and my family. I wish to dance more
than David, if I tried to dance, I missed my steps.
“I have all the reasons to thank God. Very few of
those in my age brackets have been that lucky. All
through my education I was on government
scholarship. I have not suffered lack not because I
am hardworking, but by God’s grace.
“When I look at the whole picture of my life up to
when I became the President of this country, I say
that if soldiers and police officers that have not
received 0. 5 percent of the benefits that I have
received from the state can lay their lives for this
country, I should do anything in the interest of
Nigeria, including paying the supreme price.
“As long as live, I will continue to do my best for the
state because the state has helped me as a person.
“I have to thank Nigerians especially my state for
giving me the opportunity to serve as deputy
governor and the whole country gave me the
opportunity to serve as Vice President and then
President, first was to complete the tenure of the
late president and later serve as President from
which I am exiting now as a very happy and fulfilled
man.”
Saying that hard decisions have their own cost,
Jonathan said he was ready to pay for some of the
costly decisions he took while in charge of the
country.
He said experience had shown him that people
would at a time desert anybody who takes tough
decisions like he did.
He said he had always hold the belief that more of
his friends would desert him as time goes on.
He recalled the story of the last ruler of apartheid
South Africa who was divorced by his wife for
accepting to abolish minority rule in the country, and
said jokingly that he hoped his wife will not also
divorce him after he might left office.
Mrs. Jonathan replied with a shout of “Nooooo”.
Her response was greeted with a loud applause by
congregation members.
The President also prepared the minds of the
ministers and aides who served under him, saying
though times await them all.
He said, “I believe there are reasons for everything.
Some hard decisions have their own cost, no doubt
about that.
“That I have ran the government this way that
stabilised certain things, the electoral process and
other things that brought stability into this country.
They were very costly decisions which I myself must
be ready to pay for.
“Some people come to me and say this or that
person, is he not your friend that benefitted? Is it
not your government that this person benefitted
from? But this is what the person is saying.
“But I used to say that worse statements will come. If
you take certain decisions, you should know that
those close to you will even abandon you at some
point.
“And I tell them that more of my so-called friends
will disappear. When FW De Clark took the decision
to abolish minority rule in RSA, even his wife
divorced him. I hope my wife will not divorce me.
But that is the only decision that has made RSA to
still remain a global player by this time. If we still
had that minority rule there, by this time, nobody
will be talking about RSA.
“If you take certain decisions, it might be good for
the generality of the people but it might affect
people differently. So for ministers and aides who
served with me, I sympathise with them, they will be
persecuted. And they must be ready for that
persecution.
“Quoting Tai Solarin, may your ways be rough. To my
ministers, I wish you what I wish myself. They will
have hard times, we will all have hard times. Our
ways will be rough.”
Jonathan however said he was happy that the
ordinary people appreciate what he did and that,
according to him, is the most important.
He said it was not what the elite or the privileged
few talk or say about his administration that matters
but what the majority of the Nigerian public think
about his actions and inactions.
He expressed delight that he came to Abuja with his
family peacefully and they are returning peacefully.
The President thanked the church and Nigerians for
standing by him even at his most difficult times.
He said even on the March 28 presidential election
which he lost to Buhari, there were many people
who supported him nationwide.
Despite exiting the Presidential Villa, Jonathan
promised that he would continue to pray for the
country and the Buhari administration.
He said the outcome of the election went that way
because God wanted it to be so for a purpose.
“Even for the election, we had people who supported
us all over the country but things went the way they
did because God wanted it that way for a purpose.
“We will continue to pray for the peace of the
country and for the success of the incoming
administration.
“When the country is in good shape, people benefit.
When things are going well, people are happy. You
don’t need to know Mr. President or Mr. Governor.
“The issue is not about Jonathan or Buhari or any
other person. The issue is how the government
functions: stability, buoyant economy that will enable
Nigeria to move forward and live happy. That is our
interest, that is my prayer point.
“All religious groups should pray for the country,” he
concluded.
Jonathan thereafter requested that his favourite
him, “Stand by me” be sung again.
He said apart from inspiring him, the hymn makes
him aware of the fact that whatever one does there
will be storms.
He said the assurance in the hymn was that once
such a person means well for the people, God will always stand bt him.

CrimeRe: My Pick-pocket Experience by scarred9jan(m): 6:36pm On Apr 27, 2015
adanduka:
[b]This post is inspired by the thread- Ways to identify pick-pockets...

Pick-pockets are everywhere and rather than do jobs to earn their pay, they keep looking for unsuspecting folks to steal from.
It was 5:45pm and I was on my way home from work. I was approaching 1st Artillery having joined the bus at Rumuola junction, Port Harcourt Rd, Port Harcourt. I was seated at the last seat at the back of the four seater bus. An elderly man right beside me started coughing and from the sound it appeared he has a mucus-clogged throat or is it trachea. He then started getting up a little and leaning over the guy at the window so he could spit from the window. It was a disgusting moment for all of us at the back seat, moreso for the dude whom he was leaning across. The guy fearing that the wind might splash back some sputum on his face as the bus was accelerating asked the man to come over to his side so he could have the window to himself. Strangely enough, the elderly man kept his right leg straight and stiff and struggled “painfully” to move over continuously motioning to the leg and then it dawned on us that the leg was permanently straight and stiff or so we thought.
As the vehicle reached Artillery and the conductor called the bus-stop, the elderly man said he was alighting and the dude who was at the extreme instinctively checked for his wallet, he realized his wallet was gone. He immediately realized the elderly man had taken it and all that drama was for his purse. Fortunately for him, he sighted the ‘elderly thief’ who had crossed over to the other side of the road and he started shouting and chasing him and he was caught. He was lucky to escape being lynched that fateful day as the guy he stole from said they should pity him. The funny part was that the thief’s labour was in vain as the wallet contained only IDs and no money and he would have been beaten up for nothing.

if i tell you that that elderly thief has been in operation for many years, would you believe me. Encountered him once in 2001 on the bus going to artillery. wow how times fly.
