Peacefullove:
Not true, majority become atheist because they have some life buggling questions which most religion can't answer or the answers given are irrational and stewpid

Imagine some religion that said there is a god who will torture and burn his own creations forever in a fire . this sounds crazy . no justice either , how does few years of sin make a person worthy of eternal torture ? Its cruel and barbaric

The logical point is since nobody beg God to create them , as the creator he owns the life , can't he just un-create them to their former state before creation rather than subject them to that barbaric act ?

This and many more is the reason why many conclude that its either there is no god or if there is a god he is definitely not as most religion paint him.

Note: am not an atheist, and I don't hate atheists
The OP just explained from his own point of view and as usual the all knowing religious apologist assumes he knows the reason why most atheist like myself became one.

Quakertellicus1:
Once upon a time there was a Nigerian athlete who was getting $2000 monthly from her government, and she was expected to use that money to transport herself to meets and pay her coaches.

Now said Nigerian athlete was based in a European country where her mates were getting $24000 monthly from their government and had free coach plus two physios to book.

Of course, Nigerian athlete changed citizenship.

And we also had a male athlete who changed citizenship one year....and the next turned up at the National Stadium at Surulere with a cool 4WD.(Which he could not afford when he was a Nigerian. And he eventually won a Olympic silver medal).

I am not defending Buhari. But these two tales happened long before PMB or even GEJ took over. Poor funding of track and field athletics did not start yesterday. Add the fact that most of our sport associations are run poorly (and often by the same old corrupt bureaucrats).

You expect PMB to find money for these athletes? When GEJ could not find money for them with high oil price?

The problem is that in Nigeria....athletics needs money. Lots of it. And I doubt AFN would be giving any athlete 20000USD a month in a country where people are lucky to see 400 USD monthly.

Anyway.....private sponsorship is the way froward. Govt does not have the cash.
Spot on.

The associations are very inefficient and headed by very corrupt officials who would rather travel allover the world without lifting a finger to improve their respective sports. The IOC provides special grants for athletes but the money is cut from the top. For example, Galadima is a top shot in international volleyball but when last was a volleyball tournament held in Nigeria?

Marketing depts are non existent and the few private individuals who try to do their own bit are skimmed out of things at the National level. Take Wale Edun for example. He has been running a successful amateur boxing program every last saturday of the month in Lagos since 2009. Every month. Spends nothing less than a million every month (he uses his connections to get sponsors) and also hosts the Governors Belt every december since 2009 but yet the national body cannot invite him to chair the association. Next thing they will be begging up and down when it comes to attending events. The current stars of professional boxing in Nigeria started out with the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show. The Fijabis and Otto Joseph collecting millions as prize money are some of the program's products.

While I support Buhari wholeheartedly, I believe he made a mistake making Dalong minister of sports, that guy is plain clueless when it comes to sports administration. Waidi Oshodi would have made a very good sport minister. As commissioner, Eko 2013 is regarded as the best national festival in recent times. Hell, we have not had any since then. As the president of Nigeria Table Tennis Association (NTTF)
you should see the wonders he is performing there.

If I start to dey air my grievances with sports. We no go sleep today.

Nigerians being deceived once again. This is another 419 to draw pupils to this school which I can bet has no affiliation to Barca.

Did anyone notice that they had no guts to write FC Barcelona but instead FC Bescola. This is to avoid being sued for brand theft because Barcelona does not know about this school. All you need do to deceive Nigerians is to gather a few white guys to play a minor role in the launch of the school and fool everyone that it's Barca officials. School is big business these days and extremely lucrative, therefore everyone is trying to outdo everyone in giving theirs a semblance of validation from some international body because Nigerians like Oyinbo things well well and can fork out their entire fortune to send their wards there in order to show levels. That's why you always see "international school", "British school", "American school", etc always appended after their names when those "oyinbo's" actually have no hand whatsoever in those schools. The proprietors of those schools smartly arrange with their Oyinbo friends to show face once in a while to give the impression of validation where none exists.
Before you start displaying crass ignorance on a public forum it is advisable to check for facts.

Christianity EtcRe: How can an atheist survive in Nigeria? by scarred9jan(m): 9:16am On Jul 03, 2016
SirWere:
Recently, I got to test the "atheist in a foxhole" theory, unfortunately

My little cousin had a case of convulsion. He just shut up and started foaming in the mouth. All my uncle and aunt could do (in their defense, they both studied the arts) was watch helplessly in horror............and pray, of course.
It was 3 am and there were no near hospital in sight. Fuel was not in both their cars...

And they prayed.

I put my hand to his mouth, forcing them to stay open because I knew if they closed, he would be axsphyiated. He almost bit my fingers off..

And still they prayed.

While struggling to keep his mouth open, he started foaming, saliva pouring from his mouth and frothing on my cloth...

And still they just watched......and prayed

He finally stopped gagging; and finally went limp...

Yet they watched, still too stunned to move, hoping I would somehow magically revive him.... And kept praying, of course.

When he went limp, I finally told them (shouted at them actually) to go open the door so I could carry him.

They finally burst into action and opened the door.

We ran to the neighbour's house, shouting liked castrated baboons for help...

They still muttered prayers,

we finally found a good helper and sped off to the hospital, where they stablilized him

The family started prayer in earnest and asked me to join. I couldn't really say no to something like that.

He survived the convulsion.......and the doctor complimented me especially for keeping his airways open.

To my relatives, it was God's work.

They did the testimony in church, of course.

It was god that did it undecidedundecided

Draw a conclusion, that's all I will say
You are God.

This referendum is a sober reflection for Nigeria and the government that is shooting innocent protesters because they want to leave, freedom of leaving a union is scared and nobody should forced to stay in any union.
You have elected politicians in the state and federal level. Force them to accept the Biafran issue if you are serious. If they don't listen, force them to resign and conduct fresh elections, putting those that support your calls for Biafra. They will make noise in the house, thus forcing the govt to act on this issue.

In 2014 there was Scottish independence referendum, the arrowhead Alex Salmond is never seen as an enemy of the state or thrown into jail.

In 2013 David Cameron an advocate of Remain promised the people of UK Leave/Remain referendum on EU which was carried out yesterday, the people voted to exit EU.

But in Nigeria some people go haywire whenever they hear Biafra referendum as if their lives depend on it.
Kanu's mistake I keep telling people was when he started cohorting with touts. If he was serious and had the people support he would vie for the senate or rep and work to put his fellow idealist into elective posts and start making noise about referendums. Not posing in the bush with guns. Once he did that (posing with guns) I didn't take him serious anymore.

The laborious research ordinary individuals in these truly great nations go through before making decisions concerning the future of their country is admirable. Despite all their major allies encouraging them to stay, all economics arguments was in favour of them staying in EU, all (but one) of the major leaders of their opposition parties wanted them to stay, their prime minister wanted them to stay, Obama wanted them to stay, big corporations wanted them to stay, and the list goes on. But despite all that, people decided to go and vote for what they believed was the right thing for their country. Putting sentiment aside, Defying all the odds, Challenging the system, questioning the status quo, and here they are today...making HISTORY!

Though I think they would have been better off in EU, the remarkable thing here is the extraordinary way the people of United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, despite all the fears and doubts caste in their mind by their leaders and everyone they looked up to. No wonder they can and will always achieve great things. RESPECT!!
Truth be told. If there was a referendum to leave Nigeria here in the South west, I would vote leave.

This is what civilized people do.
They come together, brainstorm and decide to leave or stay by voting.
We saw the same with the Scottish referendum.
No insults, no name calling of other people and above all no soliciting for weapons
Good luck to the civilized people of UK - the world will always take them seriously.
My exact thoughts. I was telling somebody just last night that if those clamoring for Biafra were serious and had their peoples backing, they would vie for elective posts in the state and federal levels, then make noise and push for a referendum on the Biafra issue. But we all know that those shouting are doing it for selfish interest. I keep warning people to be wary of politicians.

Christianity EtcWho Wants To Be A Jew? The Unlikely Spread Of Judaism In Africa by scarred9jan(op): 11:03pm On May 31, 2016
Who wants to be a Jew?
The unlikely spread of Judaism in Africa

AS THE sun sets on a Friday in a smart new suburb of Lagos,
Harim Obidike dons his kippah and opens up a prayer book.
It is the start of shabbat, the Jewish holy day, and as he
croons through the psalms, a gaggle of youngsters sing
along. “We are Israelites,” he says after bread has been
broken and the candles lit.
Nigeria is a devout country split loosely between a Muslim
north and a Christian south: two halves which were brought
together by colonialists and still butt heads today. A couple
of decades ago, modern Judaism was almost unheard of.
But this household is one of a growing number that are
taking to the Torah. In Abuja, the capital, there are at least
four small communities of Igbo-speakers that have opened
synagogues. (Jews joke that every town needs at least two so
that members can hold a grudge, and refuse to attend one
of them.) In one, on the outskirts of the city, there is a
gospel lilt to the songs: members taught themselves to read
Hebrew and then had to make up the tunes, says one.
It might seem odd that people would sign up to join a small
faith whose members have suffered centuries of oppression.
Yet Uri Palti, Israel’s ambassador to Nigeria, reckons there
are more than 40 such communities across the country.
Daniel Lis, an academic, thinks there may be thousands of
Nigerians who practise Judaism. Millions more of the Igbo
tribe believe that they are descended from biblical Israelites.
Across Africa as a whole there may be thousands more self-
declared Jews. One community in eastern Uganda, the
Abayudaya, adopted the faith almost a century ago. Its rabbi
was recently elected the country’s first Jewish member of
parliament.
Yet the embrace by these communities of the laws of Moses
has not been warmly reciprocated by the Orthodox
establishment in Israel. Unlike proselytising religions such as
Christianity, the guardians of Orthodox Judaism go out of
their way to make conversion difficult, insisting on a two-
year programme of study and lifestyle changes.
Still, officialdom is shifting. Israel’s Jewish Agency last month
recognised the Abayudaya as Jews, meaning that they are
allowed to emigrate to Israel. There is a precedent. Since the
1980s more than 90,000 Ethiopian Jews (known to some as
Falashas) did so after Israel’s rabbis accepted them into the
fold.
Such a stamp of approval seems a little less likely in the case
of Nigeria. Some fear it would open Israel’s gates to
thousands of economic migrants. Yet this does not trouble
the likes of Mr Obidike. Nigeria’s Semites argue that they are
descended from one of Israel’s lost tribes and that cultural
similarities such as circumcision are proof of their pedigree.
Others at his synagogue do not worry much about
officialdom’s response. “We are Jewish,” says one old lady
who switched from Catholicism. “Whether you are
recognised or not is no matter.”

What do you think about Leicester City players' fitness level all season long? Whereas other teams had key players out injured, Leicester had a fully fit first team all season long. Considering that Leicester ran a budget comparably lower than other BPL top-four teams, it will be apt to say that their medical team assembled with that low budget won't be better than other top-four teams' medical team. So, how do you explain their lack of injuries? Are their players made of steel? Ponder on that.

Believe it or not, luck plays a big part in every of our life dealings. And what is luck? Who brings it?
I'm waiting.
and you think by their team being fit all season long means it was an act of god? Have you read that Leicester has one of the best training facilities in the league? their owner invested alot in facilities. also having minor fitness worries is down to pure luck. yusaze2007:
OAP Freeze has weighed in on Tiwa Savage's tell-all interview where she revealed a lot of secrets about her marriage to TeeBillz..He wrote

[b]Dear Tiwa,
I have nothing but love for you, but after I watched all 45 mins or so of your interview, I am a bit disappointed.
Tiwa, I know it hurts when a relationship breaks down, and those accusations T Billz made were extremely hurtful, nonetheless, I believe you could have employed caution when responding, since according to you, he was unstable and suicidal. In law, if for instance, you walk in on your man in bed with another woman and you shoot him on the spot, you could get a lighter sentence, if your legal counsel argues provocation. On the flip side, if you walk out of the scene to get a gun and then launch an attack, it's now considered premeditated.

The fact that you granted a 'pitch perfect' interview, with a flawless visual background and superb audio quality, in my opinion looks a bit premeditated.

If you had denied all his accusations and asked to swear on ayelala or amadioha or sango as against the lie detector test, since on no instance has a polygraph ever been used in Nigeria, and if afterwards you had requested for privacy, as you deal with such a sensitive issue, this matter would have been laid to rest. How are you going to tell Nigerians not to talk about issues you 'used your own hand' to make public? This could only serve to further delay your healing.

Even though my prayer is for your issues to be resolved and for joy to return to your home, the breakdown of a marriage is not the end of the world, I have been through it and my world did not end. However, do you realize that the interview you gave could lead to the end of TJ's world? Who is now going to hire, work with, or have any business dealings with an unstable, adulterous, fraudulent, cocaine sniffer who cannot manage money and has his priorities misplaced? Whether you like it or not, that is what the interview has delineated him to be. In furtherance to this, if he was suicidal before, this interview is only going to make him even more suicidal!

I know you both love Jamil so in all this drama, lets be very careful to shield him, as the Internet never forgets and his friends and classmates will always have his father's tweets along with your interview as points of reference.

PoliticsRe: Herdsmen: Full Text Of Buhari's Order to Bring Them To Justice by scarred9jan(m): 11:03am On Apr 28, 2016
LRNZH:
[b]Unfortunately, the 'Fulani herdsmen' issue has been around since OBJs government as I remember. That was when the grading reserve bill reared its head.

The issue is that the Fulani's have been migrating further south due to the encroachment of the Sahara desert over the years. Their gradual southward migration has led to more interaction with farming tribes of the middle belt and southern Nigeria and with this comes violence as they struggle to grab more land for their cattle. Some don't even return to the north anymore.

The issue like many of Nigeria's issue is a complex one and needs both short and long term solutions. Just like corruption, Boko Haram, Niger Delta militancy, fuel scarcity, lack of electricity, unemployment, herdsmen attacks are all symptoms of a non functional country.

I await to see how the current government will address the issue on the long run because unleashing soldiers on the hersdsmen is a short term solution (same for Niger Delta militancy and Boko Haram). That won't be enough.

As for OP, he is just reacting emotionally to an issue that requires a lot of level headed thinking. Any political analyste worth his weight knows that supporting PDP or APC is not even the issue here. Buhari's reaction if you're following the developments now is even swifter than GEJ against Boko Haram calling them his brothers. More people were dying daily that period

Two wrongs cannot be mutually justified and no death from violence can ever be proven worthy so partisanship is not what we should be taking about.

We should be focused on how to get to a mlre feasile solution. I'm my head, don't see how the grazing reserve wil work unless the 19 northern states come.together and agree on how to manage the reserves with staes have the final eight to opt-in or out of the reserves.

Such optional reserves will force the Fulani to become less nomadic and more domesticated thereby increasing the likelihood that he will look into alternative means of growing feed for his cattle. That should should lead to better interactions with Farmers who can sell him hay or feedstock and to modernisation of cattle rearing practises.

Just like the oil spills in the ND, soil erosion in the SE, the desertification of the North is a disaster that needs to be tackled.

Others may have better ideas. Please bring them on. APC vs PDP is not the solution.
