1. Being drenched could have been due to rain/dew etc.

1. the cat looks drenched in liquid (most likely the python's gastric fluid)
2. No sign of laceration or deep teeth bite
3. You heard noise, most likely the noise of the cat only which means it was strangled to death.
4.And why the cat is still here is because the python spat it out due to discomfort or because it had to escape due to what ever reason.

Be on the watchout for the python as nature is about to provide you with free meat for peppersoup
