UBTH has ELISA in Chempath laboratory, that's what they use to screen blood donors. But routine HIV test is done in GPC using rapid test strip. You can go to blood bank that you want to donate blood, they will take your blood sample for screening and within some hours the result will be out. They won't give you the result but if you are okay, you will be told you are fit to donate then you can say you want to go buy food to eat first either you come back to donate to save a patient or if you don't want you can go home from there

you used condom for the sex and it only got stuck when you were pulling out, not that it got broken and you continue to have sex unknown to you. You have nothing to worry, just go for a routine HIV test after 7 weeks to allay your fears if not, you are not at risk.

Okay not trying to advice people to be care free but HIV is not as infectious as many people portray it. Most of you doing only HIV test after unprotected sex I advice you get screened for HepatitisB and C, it is way more infectious and may take years before any symptom manifest. The chances of been infected when you use vagina fluid on your palm to touch the penis without any cut is almost zero. The chances of been infected from a BJ when the person and you don't have open sores is almost zero too. You need to swallow up to 2 cups of HIV infected person saliva to get infected. The highest risk is still unprotected vagina penetration sex followed by mother to unborn child when the woman doesn't know her status and she is not on treatment.

Visit your doctor and discuss it with him when you are ready to have kids, he will guide you on the options. It might be financially draining especially if you don't have insurance.

Even though I am in the medical field, it is a commendable act. law school fees are outrageously expensive and those from poor home most times have to borrow from almost their entire lineage to scale through law school. Many states pay bursary for their students in law school, there is general bursary/scholarships for everyone in university. After graduation those of us in medical field go for internship and you are paid, others go for NYSC and will still be getting allowance while law students have to cough up almost a million for law school

Uniben does not evaluate your SSCE result for admission, An A1 parallel and C6 parallel stands equal chances. What matters is your UTME and POST-UTME score, your UTME score divided by 8 and POST-UTME divided by 2 gives you your total aggregate score for admission. Try to read well for your POST-UME to score at least 80 to stand a good chance of being admitted.

It has been proven that med students not even qualified doctors rant more on thread like this, I can bet the dude ranting above is one. They think Medlab is radiography where they have boxed the radiographers to running scans and not been able to give out result without a radiologist. Interpreting HB genoptype result is tricky and not something for a newbie , that is why it is adviced to confirm from at least two standard locations

@ our final year medical student, clinical practice and textbook knowledge are two different situations. I am not sure you can identify where A band and S band lies when given a cellulose acetate paper of a just concluded Genotype fresh from the electrophoretic tank.. AA and AA can never ever give birth to AS. I have had a case like this two months ago where the child was SS and both parent claimed to be AA and AS respectively.. A simple rerun of the parents sample showed they were both AS..

Infact it has been converted to CERHI (center of excellence in reproductive health innovation) Hostel which is a postgraduate institute

NDDC is not given to 100level students except your father or mother is a lecturer and will go to meet Dean of students to work it out for you otherwise apply for Hall 3 or 4

Every single centre where HIV test is done be it hospital, outreach, school etc has a register where the data are recorded. This is what is used in calculating these results, so it is real and not cooked up

To the OP, please don't patronise any herbal concotion bullshit, your liver is already affected and the worst you can do is to overload with unknown chemicals for breakdown. As suggested above, go to a general or teaching hospital, get a viral load done and also a liver function test too to know if the liver is still in good state.. Treatment will be prescribed for you based on your results and other information.. Don't patronise road side quacks

High fever can't give you Hepatitis sir, it is transmitted from one person to another same way HIV is. It is like saying you had malaria and came down with HIV

For the freshers going to school, be wise and smart don't be cheated. Cab is 150 anywhere you are going and bus is 30 naira. From maingate to auditorium where you will do your physical clearance is a stone throw, ask anyone to show you don't go and enter cab from maingate to Auditorium , also be security conscious as only freshers are around many swindlers and fraudster will be out for unsuspecting prey. Don't give your belongings or documents to anyone you don't know
