Happy new year chief, cheers to a better year |
afroxyz:Impressive, I have been following this thread since early December I discovered it quietly and want to say big kudos to everyone contributing. I am looking at long term investments with little percentage of my monthly salary, stocks I can ignore for a year. Does $TSLA still have good prospects for this year or it has made its peak bullish run last year? |
Yampotatocarrot:MLS is full time for undergraduate, there is no part time or weekend program. You will be shuttling between classes and hospital. What you have in school of health is medical lab technician (MLT) which are the junior cadre |
slawormiir:Anesthesia works wonders |
Simvan:Currently there is no transfer to MLS in Uniben. Alternatively go to medical complex when school resumes and ask around in the dept. MLS hardly takes transfer |
fenoll05:Read the beginning from page 1 to like page 15, understand the process then you can ask a specific question |

thanks very much |
There is a movie I can't remember the name. It is something about time, hunger game kind of setting, you work and get paid with time which shows on the clock on each person's wrist. A rich guy with over a million years was tired of living and decided to cross the time zone to the poor area to gamble his time away and later gave it to the guy that saved him from gangsters that would have killed him in a bar. Pls anyone that knows the movie? |
@OP if you are really interested in UK, the NHS is your fastest route to permanent job and citizenship. With your BSC in anatomy if you have the cash search for schools that offer " Msc adult nursing pre-registration". It is two years since you have a degree already and you become a registered nurse in the UK, getting a job after is a smooth sail as UK is even offering those that schooled in other countries offer let alone their own. You can become a citizen few years from there. Google the word in quotation mark to see schools that offer the programme and learn more on how to go about it |
famzynet:If it is biological scientist under healthcare then NO, you need IBMS registration to work as a biomedical scientist which you cannot register with a pharmacology undergraduate degree except you go for Masters in Biomedical science then send documents to IBMS and they will list top up courses you need to do( quite expensive) to be able to qualify for registration. You can find pharmacology position in non healthcare setting like pharmaceutical industry but with just an undergraduate degree from Nigeria and no relevant industry experience the chances are almost zero to be taken for such positions. |
I need advise, when I enrolled for NIN back then in 2013 I used a middle name as I can remember the lady then said I can't use only my surname and middle name. All my documents from primary school to university degree bear just two names( surname and last name). Can I register for passport with just the surname and last name, I don't want to be swearing affidavit up and down when I need to evaluate my credentials and the names doesn't tally completely with my passport details. |
bellong:that's great, we will keep working to get there soon. This thread needs more life ![]() |
Where are our people in Australia, I always check the Canadian thread and there seems to be more lively oh. How have you guys been surviving in this covid era, those that lost their job were they benefits for them like Canadian govt did?.. Australia is my first choice for migration and we need updates as motivation while chasing the japa journey.. |
Awon lazy bloggers, Dr Ola Brown is a woman!!!!! Look at all the stupid comments of people thinking the Dr is sleeping with the girl.. Google naijaflyingDr and come back to modify your post. She owns the first air ambulance service in Nigeria |
Different angles from state secretariat is what you call transformation to Johanessburg, this guy you are funny ![]() |
Be prepared it will be almost 7/8 hrs journey from warri to Ife, so leave early. Take a bus to Ore from effurun park as you may have to spend long hours waiting for direct to Ife/Oshogbo. Once you get to Ore, ask for where you can get Oshogbo motor which is just across the overhead bridge to the right where Ore motor will stop you. You will see motor going to Ife/oshogbo from there, they will pass through front of OAU if that is where you want to stop. |
DEmejioba1:No I don't, I follow Mark Essien on twitter that was how I knew about it. Registered for the last cohort but work didn't allow me participate. |
DEmejioba1:the website is Startdotng ,replace the dot with "." it is beginners programming online training cohort by Mark Essien the owner of hotelsdotng. Currently I don't know if it is still open but you can always check the site to know when the next batch will open |

Migration Steps for Medical Laboratory Scientists STEP 1 To see if you qualify for this program, you need at least 60 points, goto: http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/189.aspx click on ‘Points Test’ http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/190.aspx click on ‘Points Test’ http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/489.aspx click on ‘Points Test’ STEP 2 Undertake IELTS test (International English Language Testing System). IELTS is conducted every month by the British Council across several towns in Nigeria http:// takeielts.britishcouncil.org/ you will need an Overall Band score of 7.0 or better in either the Academic or General Training module of the test. For IELTS preparation materials, you could go to; http:// www.ieltsbuddy.com/ STEP 3 Undertake Skills assessment by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS). This is the rate limiting step for skilled migration to Australia as a Medical Laboratory Scientist http://www.aims.org.au/documents/item/88 Usually done in two stages: A) Paper based assessment; you will submit your certificates and job references to AIMS for evaluation. At the end of this stage you will be classified as an MLT and invited to write the AIMS professional exams. B) The AIMS professional exam takes place in March/ September each year in several cities around the world. If are successful in this exams, then you are ready for STEP 4 For more info about this exam, course contents, sample questions or venues, please view this link: http:// www.aims.org.au/services/aims-assessments/medical- laboratory-scientist STEP 4 Submit an Expression of Interest on SKILLSELECT and receive an INVITE usually within 30 days STEP 5 Apply for Visa, Do Medical & Police checks STEP 6 Receive your Visa & Migrate Depending on when you start, this process takes 12 - 18 months to conclude. See you in Australia www.immi.gov.au SkillSelect www.immi.gov.au |
Let her go through the Australian DIY thread for permanent resident. With 8years experience as a medlab scientist she will get very good assessment from AIMS, write English test, write the qualifying exam for medlab scientist in UK or South Africa and enter submit her Expression of interest. Chances of her getting it are very high |
Our fellow MLS that have migrated and are practicing, please you guys can give us hints. Ease of getting job with your naija experience, if you had to do some training or schooling first, pay in comparison to other health workers there and cost of living, major difference on how labs there are run and here. I think I can only remember those in Australia, please we need your input, we know you have given general life experience on the various migration thread but just snippets into professional career. Cc Experience4U, Bellong, Oknee, Mamabigboy, those that just got grant and not yet on the other side apologies you can give update later. Thank you |
Experience4u:Thanks I will start preparation for that early to hit maximum point before then |
Soleye24:In Nigeria your only option is to go back to school through a DE program and start from 200level. In my set we had many people with first degree in BCH, MCB etc it is never too late. |
TallNigerian:Imagine you even have siblings that will accomdate you and make transition to Canada smooth as against those that enter without any direction and you are contemplating over salary that you can make in a week over there. No let your village people hold your destiny |
lasunakin:UK HCPC is not difficult but it does not give you any Visa approval to stay in the country like the Australia, Canada skilled workers pathway. Even if you are registered with HCPC as long as you are not resident in UK getting a Job is very slim and you Hardly have employers that will be willing to sponsor someone offshore like they do for nurses |
Finally here after reading from page one @Experience4U, Bellong and other MLS please I need some clarification. I intend to start the process fully after hitting 3 years work experience which will be by Feb 2022, I have been working in a hospital as an MLS since Feb 2019 but still a pre_intern( still hustling for placement) my statement of result was issued NOv last year even though I graduated Oct, 2018( naija factor). I can provide tax clearance and other supporting documents for the work experience but will the years of experience prior internship be accepted by AIMS since my statement of result was issued Nov last year. |
So far Australia seems to have the only straightforward path to practice as a medical Lab scientist. US and UK do not have straight path except maybe you go there for postgraduate studies and pursue your residency from there. |
Amachebry:Check the Australian permanent resident thread on travel section and read from page 1 to understand how it works first. Then follow the process outlined there, it is self explanatory, there are some medical lab scientist that have done it and gotten to Australia already like Bellong, Expereince4u, Oknee etc |
You have made alot of mistakes and correcting it now is an expensive process, every one above 18 should know his or her Genotype and even discuss it while dating before it gets to marriage stage. See a gynaecologist to direct you on how to get a CVS test done and if the child is SS, better have a still birth done, you will regret ever giving birth to an SS child. You can take a trip to a sickle cell center and see for yourself, you will become a permanent visitor to the hospital with your child and all your salary will go into medical bills. Before she takes in again prepare to get the CVS/amioncentesis done by 2-3months of pregnancy and a safe abortion done in the hospital if foetus is SS until you have AS or AA pregnancy. Alternatively IVF can be done to only conceive an AA child which is very expensive and you may not be able to afford it. |
This is from Australia migration thread and as you can see, you can't be licensed to practice in medical lab there with BSC in Biochemistry or microbiology. Is Australia a developing country?
|
Johnblakii:you sound really pained my dear, MLS is not the cause of your problem. Lying unprovoked won't change anything, The highest number of healthcare workers in NCDC are medlab scientist, the DG of NCDC said that himself when he was clarifying status of life insurance for health care workers. The president of Association of MLS works at WHO, you can google him Dr Bassey E. Bassey. As a medlab scientist I only need to write licensing exam to practice in UK as a biomedical scientist or US, Australia. you can check the various threads in travel sections. We have Medical lab scientist in various spheres of life. Don't hate on what you can't beat, you have seen the reality you can't practice fully without a license and coming online to type rubbish. Even the PCR labs are been set up my medlab scientist who went into biomedical engineering, you can google the new PCR Lab Edo state govt commissioned few days back and check the profile of the owner of the company that set it up from scratch, he is even a young medlab scientist with less than 10years post licensing experience. |
