Knowlegeseeking:
My people,

Thank you for helping me stay on track with my ACCA and audit career.

Thank you.
The decision you're facing is a complex one, balancing both short-term and long-term considerations. Here's a breakdown of the factors you've mentioned and some thoughts to guide your decision:

1. **Job Quality & Career Growth**:
- **Company A**: A lower-tier audit firm where you currently work part-time. It might offer more familiarity and continuity, but potentially less exposure to larger, more complex audits, and potentially slower career growth.
- **Company B**: A top 15 audit firm with a better reputation, presumably more extensive client exposure, and likely better opportunities for career progression.

2. **Compensation & Benefits**:
- **Company A**: Offers a lower salary and benefits package.
- **Company B**: Provides a significantly better pay and benefits package.

3. **Sponsorship & Visa Costs**:
- **Company A**: Provides 5 years of sponsorship. However, you bear the full cost of the Visa and IHS, which can be spread over time.
- **Company B**: Recommends the PSW visa route initially. They commit to covering sponsorship costs later, but this comes with the inherent risk of potential policy changes or the company's situation changing in the next 2 years.

4. **Job Security**:
- **Company A**: The 5-year sponsorship might offer a sense of job security, but it's crucial to understand any conditions or stipulations attached.
- **Company B**: The 2-year fixed contract offers a shorter period of certainty, but if you get chartered and they honor their commitment, this can change.

5. **Personal and Professional Goals**:
- **Company A**: Continuity and perhaps more immediate stability, but potentially slower career growth.
- **Company B**: Better alignment with your career aspirations, work-life balance, and other personal criteria.

**Considerations**:
- **Financials**: Even though Company B offers better pay and benefits, factor in the potential costs (and the stress associated with them) if for some reason they do not sponsor you later.

- **Stability vs. Growth**: Company A offers immediate stability with its 5-year sponsorship. Company B offers better growth prospects, but with the condition of sponsorship in the future.

- **Risk**: All decisions have inherent risks. With Company B, the risk is the potential of not getting sponsorship later, though they currently commit to it.

Given the factors above, if you are risk-averse and value immediate stability, Company A might be the safer bet. However, if you are more focused on long-term career growth, better compensation, and are willing to bet on yourself getting chartered and Company B following through on their commitment, then Company B seems to be the better choice, especially since it aligns better with many of your criteria.

Please, guys I have an urgent question

I went to UK last year on student visa. I’m almost done with my program. I don’t have any dependents, just me

But along the line here in the UK, I met this lady from Jamaica that we have entered a relationship now, . Her own visa class is about to expire and she would have no option but to return to Jamaica

Please can I add her as a dependent on my visa, so she can stay. She is basically my partner now, even though we are not officially married yet
The option you’ve got is to register as civil partnership, but think am very very well.( cos it’s legal)

Or you can use the unmarried option if you can proof that you’ve been in the relationship for the past two years.

My fear is I heard there are softwares that detects anything written with chatGPT.
Yes, that’s true.

Not all does that.

Try google ways to detect Ai written articles or statement by then you should be able to edit Ot to your own way of writing.

There are some ways and structure Ai write that even me my self can detect an Ai written statement if not edited appropriately.

So, you can do it this way also, write a personal statement your self, then ask AI to write to using the cv and job roles, you will still need to edit it.

But, from my little research, those AI detections tools are not that perfect as they also detect a non Ai written statements also.

Just have it in mind that, not all employer even knows about ai talk less of the ai detection tool.

I need insight on writing PS of this kind
Copy your cv and paste in ai,
E.g
Prompt 1: This is my cv (paste cv) and I want you to keep it in mind as I will be referencing it.

Optional prompt 2
Prompt 2: this is the job description of a job I want I apply to (copy all the job description including company name, roles and responsibilities) have it in mind also.

Prompt 3: Using my cv I shared to you above, write me a personal statement to align with the job advert above to align with this infomation (copy and paste in the information from the your screenshot).

Waiting for it to write you the personal statement.

Make sure you edit, because sometimes it write about thing you aren’t capable of, try to remove those.

I will highly recommend paying for the chatgpt plus (just 20$ monthly ).

But you can use other free ones like
Claude Ai
Google bard
Microsoft Bing chat (also has the same capability of chatgpt plus(both were build using the same engine, so they reason the same way), but I don’t like it in performing such task as it’s specifically used for checking for information)

Please I have a NHS interview (Band 3) in London. And I'll be coming from Manchester. Please does NHS sponsor band 3 [therapy assistants]. I want to know so I won't stress myself to london
Yes, they should be able to sponsor because both (occupational therapists and physiotherapist are both on health care shortage occupation list), but I got an info from a friend that some now require you to work say like 3 months first. And note sponsorship will likely to towards the end of your current visa.

I can relate to your apprehension about the stress and expenses of traveling, but I do believe that going for interview is also an experience on its own.

Wish you success in your upcoming interview.

Please I just need a clarification on this student visa.

1. Can a student visa (MA) become a dependent of (Skilled worker) while course is still ongoing?

2. Can a student visa holder for course starting September 2023 still apply for dependent visa for the spouse.

(Been trying to get this information for a friend but couldn’t get the actual answer, except from someone that have tried it)

Yes na, it's a job in demand, and anyone with a degree in data science is seen already to be experienced, na to just package. na foresight de worry man, if some of us knew this 5 years ago, we know where we will be now
Lol, met a friend of a friend earning 95k, just a sneak peak into the person cv, I’m also vast in most of the skills but packaging no too dey, lol.

But we will get there shaa.

You are right in regards to his master’s qualifications, I remembered when I was rejected for an NHS job interview just because I’ve not got the qualification but only got the experience. Was told that they give preference to qualifications over experience, so therefore unfortunately is the message. Lol 😂

But just note that if you’ve got qualifications you need to still no what you are doing.

I have two offers which I am divided on which to choose
Well, I was once in this shoe of making a related decisions but mine align with my careers.

But I prioritized job security which permanent job over contract job.

Considering the fact that the prison officer role is a civil service job, it’s might be a little bit easier for you to move to other departments within civil service that relates well with your career goals. For instance if you’ve got good skills and experience in data analytics, while at the prison officer job continue submitting more applications for jobs that aligns with your goals.

The reason why I prefer permanent is that
1. Settle mind / peace of mind.
2. No pressure in applying for job that doesnt relate to your goals anymore.
3. Considering the competition for job out there.
4. Better plan for the future.

If to say the two jobs are permanent, I would have advised to go for the one that will give more flexibility since both are not related to my career goals, so you will have more time to apply and upskill your self more to search for job that aligns with your goal.

amanze54:
Please I need some guidance, advice and feedback...

I have two offers which I am divided on which to choose
This is a significant decision and both options have their own set of pros and cons.

As a **prison officer**, you'll have a stable job with a decent starting salary. It's a job that comes with a good deal of responsibility and can be highly rewarding if you're interested in a role that has a real impact on people's lives. However, working in a prison environment can be stressful and challenging, requiring strong emotional resilience.

On the other hand, the **physics teacher training program** also offers many benefits. Firstly, you'd receive a bursary which essentially pays you while you train. On completion of the course, you'll have qualifications that allow you to teach not just in the UK but in many places around the world. Teaching can be a rewarding career if you enjoy helping others learn and grow. Additionally, the demand for physics teachers is high, which could mean job security and potential for advancement in the future.

However, teaching can also be a demanding job and at the end of your training, you would need to secure a teaching position which might be challenging.

Here are a few factors to consider:

1. **Your Interests:** Which role aligns more closely with your interests and career goals? Are you more interested in working in law enforcement and rehabilitation, or in education?

2. **Work-Life Balance:** Consider the working hours and how this could impact your work-life balance. Teaching often requires work outside of classroom hours, such as marking and lesson planning. Similarly, being a prison officer could involve shifts and potentially stressful situations.

3. **Job Security:** While both professions are in demand, you already have a job offer as a prison officer. As a teacher, you'll still need to secure a job after your training.

4. **Long-Term Prospects:** Which role has better long-term prospects in terms of job satisfaction, salary growth, and career progression?

5. **Peculiarity of the Country:** You mentioned the peculiarity of the country (UK). It's important to understand how these roles are perceived, the challenges each profession faces, and their future outlook in the UK context.

Given these points, it ultimately depends on your personal preference, career goals, lifestyle, and interest in either of the fields. You may also want to seek advice from professionals in both fields or career advisors to gain more insight.

Hmm, data engineering the junior salary for that position lasan and also database administrators (couldn’t believe that it’s still very much relevant due to companies going cloud computing way).

Infact a department in civil service added an uplift of 10,000£ to the base salary.

Lol, it’s a fun indeed,

Last week, I went to London for the 1st time since I came to Uk, I was forced to understand the underground map.

I first spent almost 15mins to understand the map. (from Euston to Colindale).

Then took the first trip and I missed my way, had to come back again, I had to ask one White guy to explain me better, then that’s it.

Seems it’s a little bit expensive living in England compared to Scotland.

Same trip with subway in Glasgow’s is cheaper.

Also, I think the train in England is a little bit expensive also, coupled with the fact that you might sometimes not even get a seat.

Well maybe where I stayed or been to in England, you also get to pay for most of street parkings, Haa 🙄.

Nice! Where can I find the thread. Looks like a good read!

Accomodation is relatively cheaper here than big Cities in England but Council Tax is similar, if not higher actually.

Most Nigerians would live in South Wales though: Newport, Cardiff and Swansea. North is less culturally diverse, you'd see lots of people speaking the local language - Welsh and the Economy is not as great - low salaries with fewer jobs.
Start from here

@schoolhike please do you know if nhs in Scotland give sponsorship for Administration role band 4 please?
Sincerely I don’t know right now, but I guess they should be able to because the salary here for band 4 (a littler bit above 27k) is above the sponsorship thread ok if 26.2k£ .

The reason for my speculation was as a result of the information I got directly from a friend that told me that he will be sponsored as a band 2 health care assistant here, because the salary is above threshold salary for healthcare sponsorship, a little bit above 23k£. He said he asked after his interview that will they be able to sponsor him and they confirm that to him that they will be able to.

But if you studied here in the Uk, I don’t think you should be too much worried about getting a jibe with less than 26.2k threshold for sponsorship in as much as you are sure that they can sponsor, it’s just to educate your HR once your are confirmed. It’s crystal clear in the Uk gov website about people that study in the Uk can be paid less than the salary threshold and still get sponsored.

A friend got sponsorship with a salary of slightly above 22k, because she’s completed her masters here

There is an ever-growing population of Nigerians in Wales from Newport, Cardiff to Swansea. The challenge is Wales do not have plenty of sponsorship jobs so most Nigerians don't settle finally in Wales but those who manage to settle want to have nothing to do with England as Wales is a very peaceful place to raise a family and just live a quiet peaceful life. Medical treatment from the Nhs is completely free as there is no payment for prescription at all.
Also very cheap accommodation with almost free council tax, got this info from a thread on Twitter about people sharing how much they spend monthly on bills, very interesting thread with lots of info about places in UK.

True, mostly. Number 6 though, it doesn't reset if you switch sponsor.
I mean switching sponsor between the spouse, husband initially main applicant then switch to wife as main applicant. Not when either one of the two switched sponsor.

A quick question guys. So i met with some couples during one of our outings and we got talking. The company he got a sponsorship with offered him 2yrs sponsorship, his wife is working with the nhs and was offered sponsorship as well, but due to child care.
I’d rather allow my spouse to be on NHS sponsorship than me being non sponsorship.

1. NHS offer flexible working arrangement.

2. NHS is around 3 days working in a week for three times and 4 days working for the fourth week which mean 3,3,3,4 = 37.5hrs x4 weeks. ( I don’t know if that applies to England as well, but yes in Scotland, tho the days might interpolate). Meaning she will mostly be working 3 days a week, with mixture of nights and days. Some week all night shift and some other week all day shift, I don’t know if exchanging shift with colleague applies. (But most employer understands the needs for family commitments, which shouldn’t be a problem)

3. In my own perspective, working flexible as husband will give me option to explore other options.

4. NHS is government funded, so Job security shouldn’t be a problem.

5. There are possibilities of career progression from band 3 to 4 etc for an unrelenting person in NHS.

6. Most importantly consider the fact that your ilr will start counting again if you switch role or primary sponsor, should NHS give 3 years sponsor first, you are likely to get the remaining years to complete your 5 years, and here in Scotland NHS mostly give 5 years straight.

Just an opinion, considering your options carefully.

Hello house

Can someone refer me to a website where I can get spray painting job certification just like the way we do get care certificate from florence academy please

Thank you
“Spray painting often involves hands-on training and practical skills, which are usually learned through in-person apprenticeships, vocational schools, or on-the-job training.

However, there are numerous online platforms where you can learn and improve your spray painting skills, though these may not provide a formal, accredited certification. Websites such as Udemy, Coursera, or Skillshare offer courses on spray painting and other forms of art.

In terms of certification, I would recommend checking with local trade schools, technical institutes, or community colleges in your area that offer programs in auto body repair or industrial painting, as these often include modules on spray painting. Some professional organizations, like the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in the US, offer certifications in areas such as automotive painting.

Keep in mind that health and safety training, such as understanding how to handle hazardous materials and use personal protective equipment, is also crucial for professional spray painters.

Here are some websites where you can get spray painting job certification in the UK:
Train the Painter offers a variety of spray painting courses, including the Spray Painter TTP Silver module, which covers health and safety, paint materials, airless spray paint equipment, conventional air spray paint, and plural component spray painting.
Abode Academy offers a range of spray painting courses, including Airless Spray Painting, Upvc Spray Painting, and Automotive Spray Painting.
Skills Development Scotland offers a Spray Painting Level 2 NVQ course, which covers the principles of spray painting, the use of spray equipment, and health and safety.
City & Guilds offers a Spray Painting Level 2 Diploma course, which covers the same topics as the Skills Development Scotland course, but also includes more advanced topics such as surface preparation and finishing.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) is a set of standards that define the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to work in a particular occupation. There is a NOS for spray painting, which can be used as a basis for training and assessment.”

Good afternoon everyone

Any Biomedical scientist specialized in Histopathology here?
Will you be kind to help with interview tips?

I have done my own bit by reading about the job, the trust , values and all that.
My AI has also been helpful

Thanks
Almost all NHS interview I’ve had in the past always ask question regarding, confidential and diversity, team work, some don’t even ask question about tell me about you self, I always tell them about my self even if they don’t ask me to, I will start my discussion with that.

Look for someone to run you a mock, use Ai to generate interview questions using the job description and roles and responsibilities or copy and paste all information on the job page and paste. You can even ask AI to answer the questions for you using examples Or scenarios.

If you don’t find anyone to help, you can Try LinkedIn and use the job title for the search, look for possible a black working in that aspect and ask the person out about their day to day job.

Meanwhile, lots of questions comes from the job descriptions and roles and responsibilities.

Funny personal stories about AI, I applied for data role, I tried as much as possible to do lots of google research including the company website to understand the job roles, because the one used for advert is just too generic.

I went to ai, with a copy of all related information from the company website and job description, I told ai to give me a scenario of a day to day job scenario of that particular jobs, with that I now know what the job entails clearly.

Went on to the interview, was asked what I know about the company, and what do I think I would be doing, said everything AI gave me, they said, that’s exactly all that they do. (Didn’t get the job because someone from another competitor company was interviews also )

There are some of websites that accept YouTube link videos then give you the caption.

Copy and paste into gpt, meanwhile gpt has a maximum of words that can be paste in (can’t remember), but Claude Ai has almost unlimited words it can processed at a time.

But you can copy and paste the result of the generated words and Convert to txt files or docs, then use gpt plus code interpreter feature of to upload files, like docs, pdfs, screenshots, pics etc then ask questions about the uploaded files.

Claude Ai accept YouTube links, but it will reach another video content for you.
